The third TD to Kittle was my favorite too. You only see fades and corner routes with that kind of touch in the RZ. Brock has to be really confident in what he’s seeing to throw a lollipop in the middle of the end zone like that
Another big difference between Purdy and the other quarterbacks is that even when it's 3rd and long, I still feel like it's doable with Purdy to get a first down. I never had that confidence with Jimmy or Trey.
So many positive plays by Brock would have been sacks by Jimmy. Plus I had and still have confidence in Trey's potential, but Brock is obviously the guy for this team. Jimmy is obviously the factor that held us back for half a decade.
@@FRAKKKA he wasn't too different from Dak Prescott when ya think about it, they both even do that smile after a pick that just adds to the frustration lol
Omg.... it reminds me so much of our 80's west coast offense. Montana also did not have a big arm, but his anticipation and timing was spot on. Throwing before the receiver even comes out of hit cut. Throwing to a spot where he knows his receiver will be. Awesome just awesome.
This is what real QB play looks like. All the crazy scrambling stuff is fun to watch but I love a QB with great fundamentals and great brain and Purdy has both. A QB like him can play 15+ years coz of his mind alone
Everyone who is surprised that he can handle pressure by the defense obviously never watched him play at Iowa State. As a Cyclone fan I got to watch him play in person and he had to learn to think on his feet out of necessity as our offensive line was not the best at protecting him
he was a winning D1 QB for four years. he was never flashy and thus got overlooked by every team through 7 rounds of draft and that's on them. but he's what happens when a good team drafts a good QB instead of a good QB going to a bottom tier team as they often do.
@@darwinwinsif you watched him in college (which just saying I did not it’s just what I hear people say) people overlooked him because he was a decent qb but they were concerned about his throwing motion which apparently he completely changed coming into the league
Yeah just watch like the 2021 cheez it bowl between us and clemson, some of the things Purdy did there probably would have had scouts count him out. I loved watching him at ISU but before now I didn’t think he could make as a nfl quarterback.
@@alexamazingg7794 Changing a throwing motion, and getting better for it, is usually the result of good coaching (and good learning). One of Purdy's strengths is his ability to learn. A lot of people, not just athletes, get pretty good at their job, and then won't learn that extra bit to be really good.
Dude. I don’t know who you are, but I love you. I’m 34 years old and just getting into NFL. I feel a passion for this, just as a fan, that I haven’t felt for something in a long, long time. I feel you have that passion as well. Keep it up bud 🫠
Really appreciate your analysis. It opened my eyes to how important the timing as well as knowing the play are. The execution is the difficult part and that is depicted in these videos. The mere fact that Purdy is beginning his release before guys made their breaks is impressive. I think it means he knows WTF he's doing.
His prettiest throw got called back for holding but the best play was the throw to Deebo right after that on a 3rd 14. Shannahan has new confidence in this kid. That’s a screen for jimmy.
kyle is like a kid in a candy store now. about the only thing purdy can't do well are those long bombs (50+ yards) or rush himself. but with the weapons they have at their disposal, there really isn't need for either of those situations.
Tbh I think Purdy did struggle a bit after that first TD drive. He got warm in the 2nd qrter and totally caught fire in the 3rd. Hope he does the same even when they're behind in points like in his college years. Would mean you can't count the Niners out until the clock is zero in close games
That's another outstanding thing about Purdy...he adjusts so quickly. Oh, you're just going to constantly blitz me, okay, I'll just process even faster. 😂
One thing that just keeps showing up: Purdy can throw accurately off his back foot consistently. I’ve seen it enough times now that it’s not a facade. But teams will get clear rushers on him and, damn, if he doesn’t do it again! Of course if he has a clean pocket he’ll eat defenses alive that way too. But I think it’s his brains that makes him “elite.” And I’m pretty sure he is elite, no matter what any experts say. (Yeah, I’m talking to you, Shannon Sharpe.)
0:38 I'm sorry, but I just cannot stop laughing at the coverage call on that first play. Because of where they are on the field, the emblem corresponds almost perfectly to the Niners' favorite area to target with passes - up to ~15 yards down the middle. There's literally a *giant red circle* screaming "prime Niners' passing real estate right here"...and the Cowboys defenders all bail out of there like it's made of lava. What on earth they were thinking calling cover-4 there, with no one assigned to drive on something over the middle in front of them, I have no idea.
Even the cameraman can't keep up with this team: they have started to pull out wide at the snap, because even from overhead they have lost the ball looking where they think its is going to go..
I was a San Diego fan but I don’t follow teams that move. I had been a SD fan for 40 years. Luckily for me I watched Brady’s first game so I obviously became a fan. No other qbs have better anticipation than purdy
Nothing the Niners have had since Montana
Tua is the only comparable one in terms of anticipation. All the so called great qb’s currently in the league can barely anticipate
The scariest part of this performance is that the Cowboys actually have a good defense.
The anticipation is unreal. You gotta have great team chemistry for this to work.
