SM is by far the best company that lets their company artists collaborate, do concerts together and have an annual album with various collaborations together. You should check out "Priority" with Taeyeon, Winter (aespa), and Changmin (TVXQ). Another Taeyeon/Hyo x Aespa x Red Velvet x Boa is with GOT the Beat. They have only 1 mini album so not too many songs
"Hope" is the song that they perform at the end of every SMTown concert, it's SM's signature song. It's usually one of the most fun stages because we get a lot of unscripted interaction between the groups and the members and you get to see exactly how much of a family the members of SM really are. This song is usually performed as they wander around the stage at the end of the concert with a few of SM's artists highlighted as the main singers and the rest of SMTown singing along as support. (There are never enough mics in the live performance for everyone to sing, so they usually select just a few to perform the song live.)
I love the end of SMTown concerts because we usually get to see everyone just playing around and having fun together.
"Hope" was written by Kangta, the main vocalist of H.O.T. -- SM's and the industry's very first Kpop boy group -- way back in the the 1990s when H.O.T. '' (High Five Of Teenager) was active, and it was originally sung by H.O.T. (Kangta is a founding member of the Kpop industry and he is now a solo artist, actor, vocal coach, etc., as well as a member of SM's board of directors, along with BoA.) "Hope" has since been adopted by SM as a sort of anthem that represents SMTown now. (When the video fades from Changmin's high note to the next person, the guy they are focusing on is Kangta.)
SM usually holds an SMTown concert every year -- in 2021-22, when this video was released, it was rebranded as SMTown SMCU Express @ Kwanyga -- which aired on New Year's Eve/New Year's Day. In 2021-22 they had a train theme, which is why the album and concert were named Express. (This year for their 2022-23 album and concert it was named "2022 Winter SMTOWN: SMCU PALACE," so it had a royal palace theme.) SM's New Year's Eve concerts are more than 4 hours long and it's live streamed with live videos of performances from all of SM's artists. The "Hope at Kwangya" video that you just watched was the last video played during the livestream, just like they would sing it at the end of the live concerts.)
SMTown concerts are extra fun because it's a great way to see all of SM's groups and artists all at one concert. Normally each group will perform 2 or 3 of their most iconic or newest songs, etc. and then we also get unique collaboration performances with members from different groups like you will hear if you listen to the "2021 Winter SMTown: SMCU Express" album. SMTown collaboration performances are often performances that you will never see anywhere else, so it makes for an extra fun element to these concerts. SMTown concerts are also often part of a tour so, in non-COVID years, they also perform all over the world giving fans a chance to see all of SM's artists traveling together.
Although, in 2020 and 2021 it was a little different because of social distancing and the fact that they were unable to actually perform live. However, this year they were back to holding live SMTown concerts, so we got to see them performing together again. (If you watch last year's video of them performing the song, which was the "SMCU Palace" version you will see how the song is a little different every time they perform it, but it always keeps its classic feel.)
SMTown concerts are like the history of Kpop all in one concert. From Kangta who was part of the very first Kpop Idol boy group H.O.T. to aespa who is SM's first 4th gen group, almost 26 years of Kpop is represented in this concert and album.
The original song was from the first SM boy group, called H.O.T, back in 96. Kangta is the only one who was in the group who's still in SM.
Last year they remastered the original video if you're curious. The song is a mark in k-pop history, and was a hopeful song created amidst the Asian Financial Crisis of 97-99, in which South Korea was hit pretty hard.
One of my first k-pop songs I've listened, and still one of my favorites.

SM does a free concert online on New Years Eve for the past 3 years. They are AMAZING. like 4 hours long
SMTown has been a concert series running since 2008 where SM brings together basically a festival of all their artists, from 1st gen all the way to the newest rookies. Everyone who is active and can fit it in will do performances and we always look forward to seeing what collaborations will come during the concert. There are often singles and mini albums released of these new songs.
It's been a regular online livestreamed concert for New Year since Covid lockdowns as well which is a lovely thing. Because they have legendary artists from every generation of kpop still active making music it means that we get to see so many interactions and collabs and it's one of my fav things about being a fan of multiple SM groups over the years. Hope is the song that everyone sings together at the end of the show and it has become an SMTown tradition.
SMTown is usually a project ( album ) that they try to do and they basically have all SM artists participate in tracks with other groups male and female. I Highly recommend watching the live performance of Priority from the SMtown SMCU Winter Palace 2023 album it includes Tayeon, Winter from Aespa and Max Changmin (TVXQ) The one who did the high note in the bridge. The guy at the time stamp 10:46 is Minho is from Shinee that's why you recognize him. Really loved this reaction because you got introduced to new artists from SM company and recognized idols you have already reacted to. Aespa is fairly new but RIIZE is the newest group that came from SM that debuted on September 4th with Get A Guitar and pre-release single. SM is going to release another girl group in the first quarter/half of 2024 and rumoured to have 8 members so be on the lookout for that. NCT is a great group but can be a hit or miss with some people cause their music is very experimental. They now officially have 26 members ( they stopped adding members for good) as of last week but don't be overwhelmed They mostly promote in subgroups so you can get a wide variety of genres. Looking forward to future Kpop videos.

BoA, with the braids is the legend of legends. Otherwise known as the woman who single-handedly built SM Entertainment.
She debuted at the age of 13 and has been in the game for over 20 years now.
HyoYeon was a member of the legendary Girls' Generation along with Taeyeon.
People sometimes refer to them as "The Kim Sisters."
If you ever saw "Got The Beat," they performed together there as well.
Say what you will about SM Entertainment, but they truly do have the best vocalists in the industry. They choose their artists for their talent and make sure they’re properly trained. So many of their artists, like BoA, TVXQ, SNSD, Shinee, and EXO are legends for good reason.
Red Velvet are b-side queens, you will not regret listening to them. I really love all the SM artists.

This is smtown concert they do it every newyear after covid they doing it live too despite sm being a very bad company when they come to protect there’s artist but they are the company that beings the kpop culture as we see today it was num1 company in the industry for years and still one of the biggest 3 or 4 after hype get into they very good when they come to choose artist or talent and it also knowing by great vocals of all the companies
Every new year SM does a free online concert showcasing most of their artists (some years people aren't available). I don't know when they started but I've seen the last 3. It's 4 hours long and starts at like 4AM in the UK. They always play this song at the end so my memories of this song are a sleep addled mess 😂
I think the videos of each performance from this year are still on the SM town channel in a playlist. It's definitely worth checking out because they released a Christmas album last year with lots of collabs between their artists and they performed the songs at the concert.

6:22 If in case you aren't aware, Hyoyeon is a group member of Taeyeon in THE Nation Girl Group called SoNyeoShiDae (SNSD) or Girls' Generation (GG). While Taeyeon is the groups' leader and one of the Main Vocalist, Hyoyeon on the other hand is the Main Dancer and Main Rapper of the group.
In the even that you wanted to know deeper about SNSD and their chaotic (in a fun way😅) personalities, I'd recommend checking SNSD guide created by ohwoowoo. It's a long guide because it has useful info and some funny clips, but it's currently the Best SNSD guide out there.
