I've lost the charger for it, need to get a new one so i can start shooting with it again. This video inspired me to do so.
Great video, I subbed! I have a similar model camera. One way to minimise the effect of the shutter-lag is to roughly frame up your image, half-press the shutter button to set focus and exposure, then hold the shutter button at the half-pressed position while you wait for "the moment", then press it all the way down at the right moment. Almost no lag at all that way. Anyway, looking forward to more of your videos!
I'd been doing that whilst I was out but the difference it made was minimal to be honest! And thank you 😊 just finished day 2 of testing the next camera yesterday so should hopefully have the vid done by next week! 👍

It has a somewhat functioning face detect, and if taken off the green option and used with the , one have some possibilites to make a few decision in how to shoot it. I liked it so much that I bought a couple more for those back home. One lost, but two are still up and running. For a quicker working one, see if you can find one of the S series, from 95 and upwards. A bit larger, but still breast pocketable and packed with nice options and possibilities. Good presentation of a golden oldie.
You're right! This was one of those things where it sounded fine on the laptop I made it on & then after seeing it on other devices I realised the music was too loud 😔

I use decently expensive gear but feel like but from first hand experience art can be made using lesser expensive things if you have the experience and eye for it, some of my travel videos were made on iPhone. This video inspires me to go and dust off this old camcorder I have and record something with it. Subbed man, keep it up!

I have a similar canon ixus, I think if you turn the flash off there should be a lot less lag between pressing the shutter button and taking the picture, almost instant on my ixus 80. Also you should google the canon hack development kit, it'll let your ixus 100 take raw photos. Cheers
Just tested it and you're absolutely right! (I feel like a fool haha!) But also I've been a sucker for flash during daylight since I first found Martin Parr's work so I'll keep putting up with the lag for now.. also that development kit sounds nuts and I'll 100% be looking that up!

@7:05 yo what you can do to get the exact moment is pre-hold the shutter button just before the shot until you get the beeps & greenlight that the autofocus is ready and then when you full press it will shoot instantly
I was still getting lag afterwards but someone else has pointed out that's because I had the flash on, tried it without flash and it fired instantly! I should have thought of it myself really but here we are 😂
It’s a great little camera and so teeny! I found my mother in laws one a few weeks ago. But this one is shocking pink so not quite as un assuming as your black one. Can I suggest you also get your hands on a fujifilm f10. That is a real cracking camera and the colours from it are just amazing.
Pink sounds like a big vibe though! I've got a little metallic purple compact that feels like a happy meal toy which I'll be reviewing at some point 😂 and amazing I'll add it to the list!!
What a shame about the slow AF, I would have been straight to eBay. Maybe a similar but slightly newer Canon compact will have fixed those issues. Really nice photos by the way, Paulie! Subbed as soon as I saw them. 🙂

I just bought a used Olympus fe 4010 on 31st Dec 2022. I think the pictures from CCD has something that makes me like it :)
i actually liked the video! it has a nice feel to it! and the photos were nice also, as a Photographer who has a massive 5d iii the idea of having something like this in my bag is appealing, of course it wouldnt be Hq photos but i think these pics have a charm to them that makes that ok!

Yeah that was my theory too, my main camera is an a7rii but I've only got chunky prime lenses so to have a little camera you can tuck away that's still pretty good is exactly what I'm after! 👏 I've got plenty more cameras to test in the future so make sure you keep an eye out 😉
Nice video, enjoyed it. I use this camera and don’t have the speed issue? I love the video it shoots, it’s has a really nice look to it, especially in the sun. I once shot a load at Glastonbury with it and those videos still look cool to me. I guess it depends on what you re looking for.

I still have two of these cameras and still find them great. I set mine to what Ken Rockwell advised for the preset mode for a more vivid photo and its been great. He has some superb photos from this camera feom when he used one when rhey came out. Macro also very good as well.
To be honest sony DSC has more clearly pictures this one much more retro for me it is nice but as you said it is only for pub concert to take cool pictures with friends I also loved your energy good luck😊

Thank you so much! That's the same reason I wanted to test this camera! The viewfinder isn't digital so it's just just as bright as the light outside, although I'd recommend using the screen (which is lovely and bright) because the viewfinder only takes up a small portion of your vision 😊 If you're planning on shooting fast moving subjects I really would be wary of the time it takes to release the shutter though as it was a consistent issue for me! 😊

Full autofocus shutter lag is a little better than average, at 0.49 second at wide angle and 0.51 second at full telephoto. Prefocus shutter lag is 0.078 second, quite fast.
I have since realised the issue of shutter lag pretty much disappears when shooting without flash which I don't know how I missed originally 🙃😂 learning from my mistakes though!

Keep forgetting to check when I have the opportunity but pretty sure I was shooting on full auto rather than program so I imagine it'll be different on each shot! I also think I added a little grain in post if I remember correctly 😊😊
If you turn off the flash and the review and or lower the resolution which you can barely tell the difference if at all if you're just viewing them online I think it will fire a lot faster. Nice photos and video though.
Hi, I have been using the canon range of compacts for years, all of been bought second hand off e bay and occasionally local yes you can get some real bargains on there recently got an ixus 82 in vgc for under 10 Inc post. Definitely try out the ixus 220hs, excellent little camera with 5x zoom and full HD, I have noticed that some of the prices are rising, people are obviously catching on to how good these are.
I forgot to say , I had recently given my grandson an ixus100 that I got on e,bay for under 10 after the ixus 95 I gave him had started not focusing, his sister also has a ixus 95. they are 9 and 8 and both love taking photos.
Interesting little camera. I've also been on a quest to find the best 'bang for your buck', cheap camera. I found an Olympus sp810uz in a charity shop for £5, it's a 14mp ccd compact camera with a huge 36x optical zoom lens and a 3.0 inch LCD screen. So far I'm impressed with the photo results, video is only 720p but it's smooth and watchable. I did pick up a mint Panasonic lumix gf6 with the 14-42mm lens for £45 but sold it on for £180. 😲⚠️😳 I've added your channel, hopefully you'll connect with another retro photographer?
For future viewers, the lag he mentioned is the flash warm up, if you have enough light disable the flash for no lag

Some of them might be rising in price because of the hack you can download that enables them to shoot raw.
