I bought a pre registered mg5 (pre registered by mg uk) and saved nearly £9k

I see MG has been selling pretty well in Europe, especially when you consider that the brand has not yet been introduced to all European countries. As of July 2023, it is still missing in Switzerland, Poland, Romania, Greece, Bulgaria, Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania.

This is top of my list currently to replace our diesel estate next year but it’s still priced too high to get a new one (£32k in UK). Will be looking for a year to 18 month old used one. However as this is a facelift of an older car, there are rumours it will be replaced in a couple of years using the MG4 platform but extended as an estate. That would be a great car if priced like this one is.

It definitely looks well in that colour which is very similar to the colour of my Kadjar. Of all the electric cars it'd be the one most likely to tempt me into going EV tho' the only off putting thing for me is the insurance group which on the longer range version is group 32, 14 groups higher than my own car so that'd be no. I like the fit and finish of them and the price is actually reasonable.

Owned one since march, and agree on most topics in this review. However, I think you were too soft on some things. The automatic setting on the AC is shite, regardless if you want hot or cold. Using a manual setting is better, but in cold winter weather, for instance, the AC/heater "runs out" of heat after a while. Not good when you live in Sweden like me. Also, the radio reception is shite, along with many other things you can technically live without.

Picked mine up on Monday. Went for the Excite model. The top spec isn't worth the extra €3k/€4k. I'm going from a 2021 MG ZS. Space, roof rails and the app are what do it for me. Well specced for an EV at that price.

This looks really good in red.

That price jump is similar to MG4. It has a 5k jump. I get mine (MG4) in 2 weeks. Have a collection day. (Some nice boot shots BTW)

the letterbox boot opening is a deal breaker. who designs a practical car and makes it impractical???

Drive it down the motoway in the weather we get for half the year, i.e. rain, wind and single digit temperatures and you'll get 200km. Nearly €40k for an unknown Chinese brand with slow charging capability by modern standards and poor range. No thanks.

Not bad; like Marvel too, which tbh I prefer! MG is doing well and delivering great value, particularly in ‘4’.

  • @paulroper4847

Hold on - give me all the power - I'll modulate the throttle myself. I don't want a nanny power map.

Great looking estate especially in that red. Great review as always many thanks. Are cars more expensive in Ireland compared to the UK?

Well. It looks very similar to my 2016 Focus S Estate in Candy Red.

  • @decimal1815

Does the lane keep still tug the steering wheel when using the indicator to change lanes? Some cars pause the lane departure warning when they know you're changing lanes, so wondered if that was the case here.

  • @limitededition1053

I have this car and yes the knee thing is a problem, its annoying.

Mark, it appears you pay £10k more than we do in UK. for the same car. You seem to have been very harsh on this car, it is £15k cheaper than a ID. it's cheaper than a Zoe, LEAF etc.
