- Nike Phantom GX Elite, Pro and Academy explained - in today's Unisport Tech Talk, JayMike takes a closer look at the three different price levels of the new Nike Phantom GX football boots, the Phantom GX Elite, Phantom GX Pro and Phantom GX Academy. They're basically different versions of the same football boots, but since Nike aren't able to make a cheaper version of GripKnit, which is the main innovation on the Nike Phantom GX Elite, the Pro and Academy boots are significantly different from the most expensive Phantom GX - so make sure to watch this before you buy so you know what you're getting and what you're not getting!

@@morealien6737 Just got the boots today in the mail. Already I can tell the lace cover and ankle support is on the lower end so it makes me question the durability/longevity (stitching also). But the good side is it really does feel like you're just wearing a sock due to the snug fit and light weight. I'll break it in soon to see how it the boot holds up in training and a pick-up game.

The drop from elite to pro isnt usually that different but I feel this release is such a drop in quality.
The pros are closer in quality to the academy. Very poor imo

I got the pro version for 43 USD (38 Euro) on Black Friday sale at an outlet. While they aren’t painted in the best light in this video I think that I could not have gotten a better boot for the price I paid
Today i got my elite version and this boot are just outstanding. The fit is very comfortable i have narrow feet and i no issu with that. Also it's light weight and gripy every touch is amazing. I have a pair speedflow x and a pair predator freak and i feel nike just mixed these two in one boot. In overall if you looking for gripy shoes this is your best option nike beated easily beated adidas in controll category with this. Oh and any suggestions for clearing our field is very muddy😅

I really wanted these takedowns to be good.. I was hoping that they would be something like the hypervenom 3 or phantom venom which had (imo) excellent takedowny bcs I heard so many good things abt the elite 😩
I bought the low cut takedowns and the play in them is extremely good for the price point, all though the quality isn’t how good it could be they’re so nice
Can't afford the top ones and looks like I'm dodging a bullet with the Pro. Cheers guys.

I prefer the stiffer heel though. In my experience it provides more structure and lockdown.

Would shin splints be better or worse with such a flexible outsole? in comparison to the mercurials superflys
You gotta let that heal bro. I have shin splints since October last year. I rested since end of November and it's only starting to heal now. I suppose if you don't really want to stop then maybe get conical/AG boots. It helped me a lot before I began resting

It would be much worse with hard sole. I always have shin splints when I wear my muzino
fix for shin splints is knee over toe exercises. look up ben patricks atg program. this saved my athletic life
So does it fit true to size or do you need a half size bigger or smaller? Does the material stretch to allow break in if its slightly small out of the box?

@footballshorts.-3941 I have pretty slim feet so wouldn't be able to tell you, but they are pretty snug on me.
@@footballshorts.-3941yes they are good for wide feet. The gripknit stretches and shapes around your foot so it can be extremely comfortable.

I had a pair of Mercurial superfly 5s which was and still is the best feeling football boot I have ever owned back in 2016. They were incredibly soft so I am imagining that these feel kind of the same. Would I be wrong in saying that?

To get the AG version in America you have to pay $305 for the custom Nike By You version. It's disgraceful.

If you’re not able or willing to spend the money on the gripknit model, you might as well buy Mercurial.

Do these boots have quadfit technology? I'm not sure that's the name, but it's the tech in the first phantom visions, it was really nice when it came to fit and comfort.
The pro model is more like an academy model
You guys are so lucky in my country the pro version is SGD$350 which is around €245. Literally €45 away from the elite… and the elite is about SGD$510 about €357.

My son is 9 years old and wears a size 9.5 men's cleat already he outgrows his cleats about 3x a year. Which would you recommend Nike Phantom GX Academy DF FG or Nike Phantom GX Club DF FG? Once his feet stop growing I can do the elites but it's a lot of money for 3 months of use.

This is probably irrelevant but I went to sports direct on Sunday to try on some new boots and one of the employees gave me sum unrealised addidas boots I forgot the name of them buy it was a new laceless predator line up now the employee was fired as I was not suppose to try them on but if anyone cares they come out some point in February

This channel tends not to review club models. Cause they are essentially just reskinned boots . And offer pretty much none of the features that the more expensive models have.

So is there a significant difference between the Pro and the Academy versions? I always play in turf shoes and there’s no Elite version for these studs. (currently loving my Vapor 14 Pro and Tiempo 9 Academy TF boots, always hope to add a Phantom to my Nike collection)
Also, is there any difference between the FG models and the TF ones when it comes to fit and comfort? The Phantom GT2 TF (both Pro and Academy) are very tight-fitting and usually cause heel pain too so I hope there’s some changes to these areas.
I think, just get the academy because he said the grip on pro is less noticeable than the academy
From what he describes, there's not much gap in terms of quality between those two, this time, pro is so much far than the elite
