Last Call(Sci-Fi Short Film)

- Our first short, a sci-fi about the end of one man's journey.
This was made primarily as a test. We were testing our ability to pull off the film look and make something effects heavy with only 3 of us involved in the entire process(excluding my dogs).

i watched till the end, so you got me... kudos, to you.
I disagree with the others, the dogs were the worst actors.
When you come home from work (or whatever), real dogs will greet you at the door, eager to meat master, eager to get out to pee, eager to get food.....
These guys were just laying there, pretending to be cats.

Because if they're cats playing dogs, they did a good visual job but the acting was terrible.
But if they're dogs playing cats, they didn't look much like cats at all, but the acting was awesome.
A neat effort...one caveat....major fire stuff barrelling down on Earth would have been detected long before this guy switched his remote on. However a good start!
I think this is great. In 5 minutes I've got goose bumps.
For a maiden effort, it wasn't bad. Agree with others that we needed more
involvement with the protagonist to make the apocalyptic ending have real impact.
Casting yourself might not have been the best, but who am I to judge? The
piece works, just not as well as it could have. Got my sub.

As a test film for 2 guys making it I think y'all did a great job. The dogs were the best!!! Lol

If the guy opened his left hand window to get mail he was on the wrong side of the road plus he turned right into the drive which meant
he nicked someone else's mail. Sorry for nit-picking ......... actually no i'm not :-D

Well produced, but devoid of substance. Still, the guy is as handsome as could be. This gay man could just watch him watching TV in his boxers and drinking beer all day.
Hmmm... the start of something good...
I mostly liked it except for the transition from when he was flipping channels to deciding to call his wife. Couldn't hear what he was saying when he got up to go call her and what prompted him to decide to call? Lastly if these fireballs were come down from the sky, there would be a reflection of them on the door that he came out of as well as on the windows. Good luck with future films.

But wait! there's more! The NEO objects we know about would have approach speeds relative to earth of between 20,000 to 40,000mph, that's 2 to 5 seconds to get through the amount of atmosphere that will get them glowing before they plow into the crust. Yes, ala Deep Impact, the angle of approach might be very shallow, but might not. Second, before they hit, friction will heat the area of ablation to the point that it will glow brighter than a nuke. Eyes get blinded, paint chars, curtains and clothing ignite. They're pictured in movies as being slower for the sake of dramatic effect.

Acting was adequate if there had been a story here. We need to see the protagonist struggle with something. We need something to hook us to him and care what happens next to him. Let us root for him against all odds and please let him win!!

Why when the dude gets out of the minivan did he walk around the arranged dirt that hand at one point flowers or cantaloupes and the door looked like it was off its hinges like after a huge fight with the ex- wife and OJ just went for the knives later that evening. It was probably 20 mins long but shpeelburg wanted more refrigerators and Lucas said only if left leanig furry cybernetic apple trees from a death star like round laser moon disguised as a class hmmm planet that floats around ready to fire slowly,

There was a rumble and then the power went out. Now he's realizing that something untoward is in progress. He calls his wife, concerned for his families safety. Of course he's incredibly lucky in several ways to make a connection.

I thought the cinematography was pretty good for beginners and between three people (and dogs) it’s really good all things considered. I can tell you guys didn’t hav a boom guy, the sfx wasn’t bad, plot didn’t drag, the acting was a bit stale and the ending may hav been a little predictable, but I thought the sound effects and suspense track did a good job building it up! You guys managed to get a pretty good number of views too!
And you thought you had a bad day...,How scary would that be to walk out and see.
This was a great job. Except, isn't the woman's voice a third person involved in the film? Not that it matters, it is your test haha. Regardless good job, great effects.

Nothing ! That's it ! Game over !
Shock wave blows down frame house, stirs contents. One of the bigger objects gets paper and cloth ignited (the brightness and heat are way underplayed) Bigger shock wave scatters the stirred debris, then the blinding white fire-ball peeks above the horizon and pretty much everything that can burn is set alight. NEO velocity relative to earth will generally range between 20,000 to 40,000 mph (60min X 60 sec = 3600 sec per hour: 3600/20000 = .18 sec per mile X 40 miles of atmosphere = 7.2 second for the bottom of the range, half that for the upper range. And that's for earth crossing objects. Relative velocities for cometary objects are even faster.

Terrible acting! When you hear "the thing in the sky" you don't just stand there yelling "hello, hello, hello" you run your ass out side while you're on the phone!!! Acting pissed me off a little. The best part though was the ending.
Good Christ ! The guy just had to pet the dogs, sit his ass in the chair and get up and go to the door. Mission accomplished. Stop bitching !
And to think I just wasted five minutes and sixteen seconds watch this crap! Oh you budding film makers, you have so far to go!
