Yeah no shit, that's pretty obvious. Where is the deeper meaning that would go over someone's head? Like the person said, it went over Joe's head. I'm sure everyone that heard it understood that he isnt dead yet, so not yet his whole life. But what went over Joe's head? Had to be more than that.

At around 1:08:52 Derren tells a story from the book The Spell of the Sensuous by David Abram. This really is an amazing, deeply insightful book. I would love to see Abram in conversation with Joe Rogan. To hear him mentioned by Derren was a great surprise, since although David Abram is an accomplished speaker and writer, I hardly ever hear him being talked about, so please, please consider inviting him on the podcast.

So surprised to see Derren on, i just got his new book in the mail. I feel there were so many other things they could have talked about and gone deeper into the mind of Derren, such an intelligent person and someone as competent as Joe asking the questions - i feel Joe should have watched his shows and did some more homework before he came on. Damn. Bring him back please!!!

The thing Derren describes at 16:00 I actually did, I didn't know what I was doing but I was walking past a bus shelter at 2am and there was a gang of guys with a German Shepherd and one of them said "what you looking at" or something like that and another said "gimmie your wallet" I replied with "your dogs ears are too small" and looked at him for 2 seconds and then I walked away singing tom waits Green Grass.
Maybe they just thought I was a nutter but it worked and they didn't do anything.

That's not it working, that's them not wanting to punch you in the face as soon as you failed to comply. Try to do that to a squad of police in a stand off, see how that parlor trick works out for you. Derren Brown is a simple showman and snake oil salesman who dresses it up in sciency talk to sell it to a modern audience, and if you disagree PROVE ME WRONG but you won't be able to

I really recommend people try and catch Darren's stage shows , as well as his TV specials. Listening to him talk about them is fine, but you can't get a real taste of what they're actually about from his description. They're quite remarkable, and a lot of fun. Especially his shows which spotlight his mnemonic tricks.
Certainly think Joe might have a better appreciation for why Brown is so admired in the UK if he were to check some of them out. Can't decide if I prefer Brown's TV special on "Luck" or "Assassination" better, and all of his stage shows are great.
