I think the idea is to hand back some control to the DP, and textures are applied before debayering. So having the option to add them in post instead would defeat the purpose. Nino
hii cined..i have a question : so you have a super 35 sensor built in alexa 35 and it can shoot 4.6 k and it uses the whole surfaces of the sensor my first question is : when i want to shoot 1080p with alexa 35 , does it use a small part of the sensor only for this to achieve ? what if it use the whole surface of the sensor for shooting lower resolutions like 1080 p and 720 but instead it will have bigger pixel size, bigger than 6.5 micro meter is it possible that the camera merges some 4 pixels together so they represent one pixel to shoot 720p for example?
@@scottslotterbeck3796 that doesn't make sense. You know the alexa 65 you cant buy it, you can only rent it. So there are certain cameras that are not available to purchase
Now I can't wait for companies like BMD to get to the dynamic range of 16+ stops of real dynamic range and democratize the tech by allowing it to be sold at lower prices
You might have to wait a bit, as the original Alexa is 12 years old and older than Black Magic's entire camera line-up, and yet it still has better dynamic range than them - better than any other camera really, except maybe Venice 2 and the R3D Raptor if you prioritize shadows.
Arri cameras are more than high dynamic range. There's a reason they're the best and it's about the people and the engineers working there more than raw power from a new sensor. Fine taste create fine products and I don't think BMD will get you that ever.
But Arri said for over a decade that high resolution and small pixel size didn’t matter and was not the “artistic” approach to digital filmmaking. Hilarious.
A decade ago i would have agreed too..but resolutions of devices (not only TVs) has increased dramatically, and now we can watch that stuff and see a real difference. That wasn't the case a decade ago. Nino
Marketing spin on whats basically too little too late. 12 years to get 4K that has terrible ISO range and draws way too much power for whats its delivering is bad. Forget the logo thats on it and just look at the specs and it falls short. And its size and weight...
Arri s35 they copied camera body design from canon c 500 ii. Nobody is talking... Every body talking this camera is brilliant... Can u explain me very practically how arri s35 is brilliant.. .
I would have watched this if it didn’t have “EVERYTHING you need to know!“ in the title. Publications/content producers really need to stop putting that in titles.
Well… -would I dare say this… First, tnx for a great interview and rund down of the camera. Great work. What I would like to know, as I sometimes work alone, is more about the audio side of the camera. All the best.
We'll be shooting on this for a full feature, 100%. Pleasure to watch this breakdown, great work Cine D + ARRI.
Hey, do you need a Colorist for your project?
So going back to focus pulling. Inspirational.
would be good to have the option to apply 'texture' in-camera as currently exist or in post processing as well.

a heart melting camera.
hope to be part of a production that has the budget to rent this one... sounds to be a different experience

My first short was shot on the Mini. It was such a beautiful image, I almost shed a tear. Wow.

Who else can't wait for the CineD Lab results??
All I need to know is that I can't afford it
I agree 👍👍👍
Is this the best arri camera ?
Can you buy it? or only rental?
You can buy it.
If you have to ask, you can't afford it.

How much is it ?
Yes, all I need to know, is there is no way I could afford it!

the ursa 4.6k is already pretty good, enough for most filmakers/documentary.
You cannot democratise R&D buddy
@@unclejezza umm yes. Have you ever had a look at open source software
Or Magic Lantern raw
Or literally the internet?

Shame, you're missing out. We really tried to cover everything relevant and new about this camera. Which is why the interview is 45 minutes long.
Its everything you need to know. Its not a 5 minute clickbait video but a 45 minute complete overview
