yeah, and hes not explaining the prerequisites like what optifine and multimc is in detail like some other youtubers, like if we searched for this we already know what what we're trying to do is! we just want to know how to use it
This helped so much!!! Thank you! I was recording a video with my friends and I needed optifine on the newest release at a moment's notice, and true to the claim, this tutorial literally took like 5 minutes to install optifine. You earned a sub here!
Hi, I did everything correctly in this video but Optifine is still not working. Nothing happens if I press "c" and there is no "shaders" in video settings. In main title it does say (modded) at the down left corner, but that's about it.
@@TechBookTutorials It's different yet apparently safer software I heard about on Reddit, comparing the two is pretty much 1:1 in terms of UI and settings. It's... Basically the exact same thing lol
Still works great OCT 2024! You just need to make sure you run your regular launcher and load into the corrisponding version of minecraft yoiu are trying to load. Then extract optifine and follow from there.
You said you need Java to open the optimize installer, but you need to download it to run Minecraft with MultiMC. Also, by default, it will launch with OptiFine once you add it to Minecraft in MultiMC. If you want to disable OptiFine, you can uncheck it from the same tab that you added the JAR file to.
Whenever i try to extract OptiFine, i get the error "Cannot find Minecraft 1.17.1 You must download and start Minecraft 1.17.1 once in the official launcher." Any help?
Thankyou much appreciated...did have an issue so i did what it told me...open up minecraft without multi, opti the extracted the file where i asked it to then carried on from there with the rest of the tutorial...thankyou once again...
I gave a thumbs up because this sort of tells me what I needed to know, but doesn't directly state what I was trying to figure out. Anyone watching this, even without MultiMC, you need to know if you are installing OptiFine alone in vanilla or to an existing modpack. For vanilla Minecraft, it's as simple as using the "install" button shown in this video when he double clicks the downloaded Optifine to install as a "jar mod" to the vanilla launcher, but it's done differently, as shown here, to get it into MultiMC. As a side note, the downloaded file is already a compiled .jar that's set up to run it's installer if double clicked but also works as a standalone jar mod OR a drop in Forge mod (at least since OF for MC 1.4.7), so double clicking it to "extract" just makes a copy of itself. With MultiMC edit an instance, go to Version, "Add to Minecraft.jar" and point to the same file you downloaded to make it run as a standalone "jar mod" for vanilla or really old versions, but a modpack with Forge mods can run Optifine as another Forge mod, just add the download in the "Loader mods" tab like you would any other Forge mod.
Great concise video but for some reason extracting optifine doesn't work for me while giving me the message of "Cannot Find Minecraft 1.20.1" even tho i have had that mc version downloaded in multi mc already.
this might be if you've only used multi mc instead of the official launcher, iirc the way it works is that you need to run minecraft at least once on the version you need optifine on, but the issue is that it looks for the official .minecraft version instead of the multi mc instance, regardless it appears 1.20.1 is not working with it anyway
I installed MultiMC on an external hard drive, so all of my Minecraft files are stored there, without an official launcher. I set the folder for the Optifine to "G:\MCPrgm\MultiMC\instances\1.7.10\.minecraft" but it still cannot detect Minecraft itself. How can I solve this?
This is a really good tutorial, but it's not working for me. It doesn't give me any error or something, but when I start it up, it's the same as vanilla Minecraft except it says modded in the bottem left corner of the menu. I've tried completely deleting and redownloading Minecraft and optifine multiple times, and it still doesn't work. Anyone have any tips? Edit: I fixed it. I just gave up and imported an instance that already had optifine.
My game crashes when i do it this way. I'm using a modpack and when i get to world gen, the game crashes. i'm using 1.12.2 both minecraft and optifine, i don't know what happens
Doesn't work for 1.21 Also, sucks that we have to use the official launcher to get the minecraft.jar.. I'm using MultiMC because the official launcher is broken. Windows blocked the launcher, so I tried a fresh install, and it won't install from the MS store anymore. Is there a reason why the .jar from MultiMC -> libraries -> com -> mojang -> minecraft won't work?
how do you install optifine 1.6.4? it makes a new minecraft jarfiule in versions of the official launcher, when i take that and try to add it as a jarmod nothing happens. i don't understand, that should be optifine?
Whenever I try to use this and forge it crashes when I try to launch MC. If I disable forged optifine works and if I disable optifine forge works but they don't work togheter. Anyone know a fix?
I cant log into MultiMC. I linked my Microsoft account already. Is there a way around the log in? Every time I try it says "Invalid Username and/or Password" -_-

PERFECT! What a wasted hour I spent fiddling around on Reddit trying to see what to do with my extracted folder. Thank you very much!
This no longer works on the newest version
how do you do it now?
dude thank you so much, i spent the last two days trying to figure this shit out and there's nothing anywhere near as helpful as this.

I absolutely love abridged versions of tutorials that are just way too long. Thanks!

Finally! A working tutorial on how to use OptiFine with MultiMC WITHOUT using Forge!!!
It says "Cannot find Minecraft 1.18.1" even though i clicked extract
Close it and try again. Looks like if you click install and it fails to install then you need to completely close it or it won't let you extract.
Just open the corrisponding version oif minecraft in the regular launcher before you try to extract.
Amazing tutorial that doesn't ramble about how optifine works or overcomplicate pressing a button. So helpful! Thank you!
I attempted doing this but when launching game Optifine isn't installed. I did every single step.
