- Professor Francis Boyle, who was the first to win a genocide case at the ICJ, tells Andrew Marr he hopes the ICC's arrest warrant for Benjamin Netanyahu will 'force Israel to think twice about their plans for Rafah'.
The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) has requested arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister, Netanyahu, and Yahya Sinwar, the leader of Hamas in Gaza, on charges of war crimes.
Karim Khan KC stated there are reasonable grounds to believe both individuals are criminally responsible for war crimes and crimes against humanity following Hamas's attack on Israel on October 7th.
Arrest warrants have also been sought for Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, Hamas's political leader Ismail Haniyeh, and the group's military chief Mohammed Deif.
Andrew also speaks to SNP Westminster Leader, Stephen Flynn, who says the arrest warrants for Netanyahu and Hamas leaders is a ‘time for Westminster politicians, David Cameron, Keir Starmer and others to reflect upon the complicity of their silence for so many months on this horrific situation’ in Gaza.

Note that Palestinian leaders are also charged with war crimes. Be sure to support those charges, and to support also the apprehension of Hamas’ leaders, otherwise you could be obstructing justice.

I have been on quite a few of these antiwar marches now and I can safely say that I have never been in such a huge, more diverse, more friendly crowd. Every age from tiny baby to nonagenarian, every background, every race, and many, many religious faiths and none. On Saturday (18th May), at the end, it all got too much for me - the horror of the deaths of the innocents. And a woman - a complete stranger (by her head scarf I knew her to be Muslim) came over and hugged me and we both sobbed. In the end there were four of us, strangers, four women, horrified by the wasted lives, holding on to each other.
No one I have ever met at any of marches supports Hamas but they do want the people of Gaza and the West Bank to live in freedom and without fear of death or injury.
No one on the protests chants Hamas slogans. Give me a break

The saddest part of this entire conflict to me is how its hate from both sides has leaked into the rest of the world, dividing other countries internally too. Jesus said "turn the other cheek." This is a tough path--but ultimately the only one that can end hatred that simply feeds on itself by the complicity of all sides. An eye for an eye leaves the entire world blind and if we cannot figure out a better way as a species will be our ultimate doom.

To be clear, this is a request for arrest warrants, and requires approval from a panel of 3 magistrates to proceed.
These allegations , on both sides should be evaluated and decided. There should be no "get out of jail free" cards issued just because Washington backs its baby in Israel OR the incident by Hamas, that occurred on 7th October. It should NOT be allowed for any country to put their thumb on the scales of justice.
Humanity is not weighted in any direction based on which party the USA or UK governments are allied to or against.
Let the International Criminal court remain valid and credible to examine the allegations, check the evidence and make a balanced judgement.
