  • True Skill is a system in the middle of the 16th century for weapons that provided moderate protection to the hand that wielded them compared to the following century, the golden age of the system. In this workshop we will work on the most common techniques of the system but adapted to these weapons, as they might have been at the time of their creation, both in the context of their practice against other practitioners of the system and their application against the techniques of the other schools of the time.
In historical fencing or HEMA (for Historical European Martial Arts) we reconstruct sword fighting systems from historical sources. Our club focuses on Italian medieval and renaissance sources, fencing with the Spadone (Two-Handed Sword), Spear, Sidesword (One-Handed Sword) together with Shield, Cape, Dagger, you name it!

A little teaser: Ton's Patreon page where you can learn from him directly is going to launch in 2024 - so have an eye open for that one! :) I'll link it here as it gets available. Enjoy your week!

Ton Puey is a fantastic teacher! Fencing him and learning from his workshop was an amazing experience, I’ve never felt that way while anyone else. Despite letting me do whatever I felt like he simply nullified it and made me feel silly like a kid picking up a sword for the first time.
    Thanks for sharing this class!

This is a very good video but I'm still trying to figure out what a "taho" is .

Atajo, it's a type of parry where instead of hitting the opponent's sword away, you continually push against it so as to better control his movement

And just to make things more confusing: "Atajo" is a bind like @robinvmars6191 decribed. "Tajo" is a cut from the (right handed dude's) right, as opposed to a "reves".

@@claeshorsmann8140 "do a tajo please"... "No, not atajo, A tajo!"

In modern Spanish "atajo" means a shortcut.
