Absolutely exquisite. It’s indeed a very challenging song, both musically and in capturing the resigned sadness of the words. Blossom was so great, few people are aware that Bill Evans was a serious admirer of her piano style and was influenced by her.
a song difficult to play, difficult to sing and so delicate to listen to....Blossom wings through it riding on her even more wispy soft yet definite voice.
Very nice; however my personal favorite is by NKC, followed by the Chris Connor version - but what can you say about about Blossom Dearie except 'so fine'. Gerry Mulligan said 'Blossom is Blossom'.
