I miss my 08 Type S. It was automatic, but it was comfortable. Bought it with 80K miles, had to get rid of it at 216K. Had some bad luck with the belt ripping off one of the heads at 180K. Replaced the engine. At 216K, transmission was acting up. So we sold it before we would need to invest more money in a high mileage car. Loved the car though. For anyone considering buying an older TL I would absolutely encourage you to buy it. Ive bought my 05 used about 5 years ago with I think 40 K on it , and it is better than any new car I've ever owned. I've had new Mustangs a new Expedition and I absolutely am in love with this car. My fiancee bought an accord with 14 k on it 1 year old couple years ago. Its nice and looks good but it doest feel anywhere near as solid m as my 05. If you can find a manual GET IT!!! its a lot of fun. Anything over 3rd gear 3000 to 4000 rpm this car gets moving. I'm not saying you should head to the race track but its great usable power. On the right stretch of highway I still run it up to 100 mph just because it does it so easy and quickly. Never had any serious issues with 140 K on it currently. I just wanted to let anyone thats looking know its a really solid ride. I am going to have a hard time switching out so I'm already looking for another used one. When the brand new Type S comes out in the spring I will consider it if lives up to its predecessor, but bang for the buck these models are amazing cars. I don't ever see myself switching brands.
My wife has an 04. Our son put a cold air intake on it as a gift. She loves the intake noise! Also, we put slightly wider tires on the front and it handles significantly better. Great video!
Mark Cotter thank you! Check my channel for the last upload. I went with a much more aggressive tire and I went wider also and I don’t think I’ll ever go back to the stock size lol
Mark Cotter which cold air intake did your son purchase? I have a 4” aem with a K&N dry flow filter, and immediately noticed the increase in torque at low rpms.
@Tu Papi Yes sir. Kept up with all my maintenance. These cars are tanks lol. I been trying to find a Type S but 11 years ago I bought my care for 8k cash. I don't want to pay the same amount for what i paid for a type S.

I love my 2003 Cl-s with the 6 speed and navigation, all black. It has over 225,000 miles on it and runs like a champ. still stock besides wheels and stereo, and LED headlight upgrade and the fogs from a 2002 model, also with LED.
Clean Car.. I have an 06 in white with a 6 speed manual and the Brembo brakes.. Bought it for 6k over 4 years ago now and it has over 200k on it and still runs like a top.. I did upgrade the brakes to cross drilled and rotors and ceramic pads.. I must have gotten a good one because honestly the interior and riding noise is very quite and I've owned BMWs and audi's.. Honestly its my favorite car I've ever had and I'll probably keep it until something crazy happens that will cost to much to fix.. Nice job on the review

Have an 05 TL Base w/ Navigation (white pearl), 148 k miles. Been a great car for me after owning for a decade. Same issues w/ the seats and dash. Only thing I would add is that around 100k miles the handsfree/bluetooth started draining the power.
I have a 2008 Acura TL with 160k miles. My dashboard is not cracked. And my seats are in prefect condition. The only problem I have is the navigation disc is now out of date and the little screen above the navigation that shows the time and inside temp has a slight shortage.

Thank you for this video! I just bought a 2007 TL TypeS. I’ve been driving myself insane wondering if I made the right decision. Your video definitely helped me.
I have an '08 and the only problem I had in common with you was the driver's seat bottom. I got the car with 45K on it and the seat bottom leather was already cracked. I could tell that the previous owner had done nothing to take care of the seats. By the time I hit 170K the seat split open. My solution was to replace the original material with higher grade leather. It was a quick job. It looks and feels great. No signs of any dashboard problems. I clean and treat it just like the seats.
the first TL I had (2004), both front seats wore out terribly. I paid $550 to have them redone and it wasn't even genuine leather or perforated smh never again lol did you get yours from leather seats.com?
@@BrotherlyReviews I got my seat bottom from theseatshop.com. It ran 240 for just the bottom. They have a really good video instruction on how to do the replacement. I just had to buy the clip crimping tool. It took a couple of hours to get the seat out, do the swap out and get the seat back in.
@@BrotherlyReviews When you look at all of the crazy stuff we do with our cars, this is an easy job. You snip out the old clips and crimp the new ones in. The back is more involved, but it's manageable enough for anyone that wants to do it can.

I got a 04 base and never to this day i had a problem with. And i had it since 2012. Car now has 186 thousand miles on it. The main thing causes the transmission to go bad in those cars is the pressure switches.
It sucks because prices around my area for an 07 to 08 type s is over 10k with over 130k miles. On top of that they're becoming harder to find with manuals and/or are overpriced. Wish me luck on finding one, thanks for the tips on these cars!
Okay, it was one of the cars, which I was going to buy it, until seeing that. It had 125k miles and was only $3400 with automatic trans, thank you verrrryyyy much. I will go for a 07 Civic Si or 07 Scion TC(it’s like $1k cheaper), gotta buy one of these in few months.
‘05 Acura TL with 228,xxx it has everything from the original book every nook and cranny that was done to it and even the original price sticker from when it was bought off the lot I’m the second owner and it’s fast af!!!!!
Didn't know my 06 Tl 6 speed tran was rear. Wife got it custom brand new for my bday and still loves it. Fun to drive and faster than auto transmission by far. I race a few. Also Acura is the pioneer for voice command in in cars.
I love my 06 TL.. wouldn’t trade it for anything.. one thing that does go bad on these is the Hands Free Link bluetooth up in the console behind the rear view mirror
@@jayeshkuwar760 It all depends on what YOU like, drive them both and see what you like best. Every car has their own issues, but if you love it, then it won't matter when you have to fix it.
I have an 06 TL with 131xxx miles automatic, I tried to find a manual but are hard to find. also let me just say that if you maintain both engine and trans change the oil regularly and not mistreated your trans will last for a long time. I’m actually about to flush the ATF, clean the solenoid and change the 3rd and 4th sensor plugs, but other than that great video
I have a 2008 TL 195,000 miles perfect dash but fronts seats worn. Transmission still holding and never had the fluid changed since I've owned it the past 7 years and I bought it with 74,000 miles
2005 auto trans here. Bought in 2017 with 162K miles for $3,600 cash in Florida. 3 previous owners, had a minor accident on record (a very small dent on the driver side) and few scratches on the front bumper, which may be lowered its value. It didn't come with full maintenance records and I didn't bother with an independent mechanic check (bad idea, I know!). Why am I saying all this? because even then, I managed to drive it 1800 miles from South Florida to New Mexico without issues and have since put in another 25k miles (including road trips to San Francisco and Salt Lake City) with only regular wear and tear maintenance (brakes, new tires, oil changes). That how you know a car is reliable. When you take risks with it and suffer no repercussions. Plan to drive it till the doors fall off.
I've owned a 2gen and 2 3gen tls base and a type s and I say one of the cons is they don't make the 3gen anymore. That car, IMO, is timeless. Family has grown so I've upgraded to an mdx now but want a reliable car that won't destroy when it comes time for repairs this is for you. Pretty quick with a more grown up look compared to the accord. Cons: what my man's listed plus the heated mirrors you have to remember to turn them off when not in use or they'll get a brownish tinge to it. And I find the turning circle to be garbage. All and all I'm confident that you'll be seeing these cars on the road for many years to come with stupid high km/miles on them. Just like the Integra did.
Also watch for the dome light those will drain your battery an the hands free bluetooth doesn't work accurately other than that great car might buy one soon might finance an 07 or 08 the dealerships have all the low mileage ones everywhere else are badly abused👌
Can’t believe I forgot that 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️😅😅 but yes the handsfreelink will drain your battery eventually once it stops working. Haven’t had any issues with the dome light itself, though.
The 2004-06 3.2 TLS is 270hp. The 2000-2003 tls is 260. The difference is the compression. The 03 runs 10.5-1 & the 04 runs 11-1 compression pistons for a 10 hp gain. Regardless your review is excellent 👍
Brotherly Reviews let me know how it goes, it’ll give me something to look forward to for more pros and cons with the handling, right now I’m running street basis z coilovers from Tein
Not all dashboards crack. It depends on the amount of sunshine and mainly heat that the car sustains. Usually cars in hotter year-round climates see this condition. I've owned 3 of them and the one that was from Florida had the cracked dash. The other 2 were Northern cars.
So there is a thread on Acurazine that has a theory about the dash cracking. Its believed to be caused by using the A/C. Since the air ducts run under the dash, the cold air will chill the underside, while the hot (from summer heat) upper layer of the dash is exposed to the sun. This creates possible tiny flexation based damage that over time will crack the material. Its just a theory, but I've owned three TLs and I never run my A/C except maybe twice a year. I've never had a cracked dash. Highest mileage TL is sitting at 212k miles.
I guess I’m lucky with my 2004; No dash cracks in 17 years and leather seats are good. Mild weather and always garaged may be the reason. Only problem?: had to replace the audio amplifier which started fading after 15 years.
I am in the market for an Acura TL. I'm 18 and I got my first car about 4 months ago, a 2006 Saab 93 aero. It's a very fun quick little car, and the quirky nature of the Saab was so cool to me. I love the car to death but it's giving me trans issues so I unfortunately have to sell it. I was looking at the Lexus IS350 but it's just a little bit out of my price range (I realistically have about 5K to spend). I recently ran across the Acura TL and I am very intrigued. '07 and '08 all seem to be a little out of my price range, and the transmission issues you spoke of make me nervous about getting an '04 - '06. The other videos I watched mentioned the infamous transmission issues from the models before and after this body style, but they said with the new model in '04 (3rd gen) they were resolved? I just don't want a repeat of getting a bad trans after being thrilled about a new car lol
Just purchased an '04 with the Automatic. 167k ATM and it runs like it wants to blow itself up, which isn't bad lol, once VTEC kicks in it hard to shift out of it in SportShift because the sound is great but I usually have to throw it in 4th before it hits 5,500rpm. Great fun, only $400 more than my '03 civic (5,500 for the civic, 5,900 on the TL) and it's quite literally twice the fun and comfort. Talking about this car almost feels like bragging whenever I do, the only hangup I have is the gas mileage fluctuating really bad but it is a V6 that I probably drive too hard to get good MPG lol
@@BrotherlyReviews I noticed that most every TL I looked at had brown fluid in the transmission (some dirty, some kinda clear like mine) Like you had said in the video, the automatic is notorious for issues, are solenoid replacements the big hangup or do these transmissions just burn themselves out and end up with 5 neutral gears? Timing belt and a complete oil change hopefully this week if I have the cash, thanks for the tip!
No doubt price point is solid. Over here in va they are high in price for type s with low miles snagged one with 55k as I lost my 2nd gen in accident and decided to go with the best looking one the 3rd gen had to be type s. Lol with low miles and manual, but manual was too hard to find that wasn’t molested so auto it was. Cleanest one from a dealer. Currently as my daily😅.i kinda want another, but it would have to be manual.
Tsx is a girls modal, I had one of them first and then my 07 TL and the tsx doesn't compare even 10%. If your a girl or a girly man then get the tsx. I'm just being honest 🤷

@@BrotherlyReviews the same one! We love the way it pulls as the vtech kicks in...and the sound is awesome!
Mark Cotter awesome !! This is the first intake I’ve purchased where it actually improved power and torque instead of just sound lol
240ishk and still running strong. No issues on my Acura TL 06. 💪💯
@Tu Papi Yes sir. Kept up with all my maintenance. These cars are tanks lol. I been trying to find a Type S but 11 years ago I bought my care for 8k cash. I don't want to pay the same amount for what i paid for a type S.

Great Vid have an 08 Nav Base I’ve owned for 6 yrs best car I’ve ever had hands down
Thanks bro apreciate your review on this car. Im considering getting one always loved this style of acura.
I looked up the few type S’s for sale in my area and they all want 16-18k for a ‘06-‘08 with 150-200k mi. Type S TL was a gem.
I love my 2003 Cl-s with the 6 speed and navigation, all black. It has over 225,000 miles on it and runs like a champ. still stock besides wheels and stereo, and LED headlight upgrade and the fogs from a 2002 model, also with LED.
Great video and your type s looks dope man. I've got WDP 07 Acura TL type s 6 speed and it's amazing.
Nice job on the review
jerry chatham thank you Jerry! And that’s awesome, I’m glad you’re happy with your purchase. They’re great cars and thankfully you haven’t experienced the common issues they’re known for
One of the best Acura’s ever built love the video bro
Have my Tl base for over 9 years and still going strong,I even drive for uber every day in it
I agree with you about the leather seats. My passenger's seat was cracking before the driver's. It's weird because it should be the other way around.
My passenger seat wore out before the driver seat also lol found it weird too
The 2004 - 2008 TL looks better then any other Generations TL IMO
Just bought an 06 base model with only 67k miles can’t wait to modify her 😍
Nice, wish I could find something like that.
Frank Franzell The II dang those are baby miles!
I as well have a 04 TL with 135k Miles on it and its a manual ;)
Great Car!
I have an 06’ TL with 190K still runs like a champ, but the transmission pressure switches are going out 😂
273k on my 2004 Acura TL automatic no issues drives and pulls like new.
Thanks for the advice I was looking at a 04-06 Acura
bought a 08 Type S in black like yours about 2 months ago.. 120k miles on it.. love it so far

William Garcia thank you bro!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Nice video man! I have an 08 Type-S and well and it's awesome
Thanks for posting! I love these TLs and picked up a few things I didn’t know about the transmissions. Take care!
Appreciate the video my brother, looking to pick up a type s very soon. This car is some special.
I'm glad you told me about the horsepower difference because I'm really trying to figure out how the same engine loss HP in a year.
We were all confused about that for a while lol
I have the blue 08 type s.. I love this car I had it going on 3 years.. it has 116k miles, and it drives awesome, I had mustang and driving audi and many other sport cars.. but ill say this is the best car I've driving.. is fun to drive and fast.

changed fluids religiously, transmission still went out at 197k. I still put money into this car. Completed

Awesome honest wholesome review. Looking for a ACURA.
It took a couple of hours to get the seat out, do the swap out and get the seat back in.
kedst2000 that’s not too bad. I’m actually considering having the original leather removed from the seats and having these seat covers stitched in .
@@BrotherlyReviews When you look at all of the crazy stuff we do with our cars, this is an easy job. You snip out the old clips and crimp the new ones in. The back is more involved, but it's manageable enough for anyone that wants to do it can.
I must be lucky I have a 06 TL 170k that has a oerfect dash and Auto trans thats flawless
you got me worried though , i like the vid good job take care
Preciate the love! My 04 had 204K when I sold it - dash still didn't crack! All my others, not so lucky lol
Brotherly Reviews my 07 has 110k miles without any dash cracks but I put a dash cover to prevent it from cracking in case I ever want to sell.
Mine started cracking on the dash after 242k miles, always garage kept.. but at work it did stay out in the sun.
civicpride1986 just buy a dash cover and problem solved. Cheaper than replacing the whole dash and makes the car look better

I got a 04 base and never to this day i had a problem with. And i had it since 2012. Car now has 186 thousand miles on it. The main thing causes the transmission to go bad in those cars is the pressure switches.
I have an o4 tl aspec with 243,562 miles on it 😊 my daily car
I have an 06’ Base with 190K and the transmission pressure switches are going out, jerks a lot in 2nd gear 😩
2004 base TL 273k miles automatic and no issues with transmission but I change fluid on it often to keep it running good.
It sucks because prices around my area for an 07 to 08 type s is over 10k with over 130k miles. On top of that they're becoming harder to find with manuals and/or are overpriced. Wish me luck on finding one, thanks for the tips on these cars!
True. I bought my 07 new type S two years ago with 60k miles and got it for 10,900. Good deal I thought

I have an 06 TL with 131xxx miles automatic, I tried to find a manual but are hard to find. also let me just say that if you maintain both engine and trans change the oil regularly and not mistreated your trans will last for a long time. Steve Dunkley ik almost there with you on mileage lol I’m about to hit 184 on mine. My 07 S had 296k when I sold it. Still solid!
Oh and Bluetooth parasitic drain another con I forgot
Also watch for the dome light those will drain your battery an the hands free bluetooth doesn't work accurately other than that great car might buy one soon might finance an 07 or 08 the dealerships have all the low mileage ones everywhere else are badly abused👌
Can’t believe I forgot that 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️😅😅 but yes the handsfreelink will drain your battery eventually once it stops working. Haven’t had any issues with the dome light itself, though.
@@BrotherlyReviews You can just remove the hands free link though, it takes five minutes to remove it.

Great video man! I ended up going with an 09 tsx but the 08 tl is fly too.
JeffSanabria my neighbor has an 09 tsx also. Original owner, over 200k. He loves it!
Not all dashboards crack. It depends on the amount of sunshine and mainly heat that the car sustains. Usually cars in hotter year-round climates see this condition. I've owned 3 of them and the one that was from Florida had the cracked dash. The other 2 were Northern cars.
Great vid homie just subscribed
Thank you!
I have an Acura TL 2008 Base proud of it. Foreign cars are nice and all but they can be a hassle to take care of
Working on trying to buy the type s, thanks for making this video
So there is a thread on Acurazine that has a theory about the dash cracking. Its believed to be caused by using the A/C.
Since the air ducts run under the dash, the cold air will chill the underside, while the hot (from summer heat) upper layer of the dash is exposed to the sun. This creates possible tiny flexation based damage that over time will crack the material.
Its just a theory, but I've owned three TLs and I never run my A/C except maybe twice a year. I've never had a cracked dash. Highest mileage TL is sitting at 212k miles.
I have an Acura TL and I've had my dash crack. I just accepted it. Still love the car, power, and mileage.
I wrecked my 08 type s a few months ago..looking to buy another right now
I guess I’m lucky with my 2004; No dash cracks in 17 years and leather seats are good. Mild weather and always garaged may be the reason. Only problem?: had to replace the audio amplifier which started fading after 15 years.
My 04 didn’t have a cracked dash, either. Previous owner replaced it under warranty.
Super informative bro. Just entered the TL family. Might need some help.
Welcome to the family!!🙌🏾
Dope review! Wasn’t a fan of the TLs unless it’s a Type S But I genuinely love the tsx chassis over the TL!
They’re pretty powerful for what they are lol make sure you stay up on the maintenance and replace the timing belt if you haven’t already
Great vid bro... It's that gen of Honda auto v6... They all where bad... The odessey being the worst because of weight to torque
Great content. Would love to see some first gen TSX content in a similar fashion. Well done!
Working on that :)
Tsx is a girls modal, I had one of them first and then my 07 TL and the tsx doesn't compare even 10%. If your a girl or a girly man then get the tsx. I'm just being honest 🤷
