    Once upon a time, the #AcuraTL was the best-selling luxury sport sedan in the US. About 15 years ago, #Acura outdid themselves with the 3rd generation TL that really shocked. the world and showed Acura just serious they were about going after the best from Germany. When the #TypeS model returned in 2007, its near 300 HP V6, available 6-speed manual, and stunning looks had a lot of enthusiast trading in BMW, Audi, and Mercedes sport sedans. Today, Acura seems a bit lost but there is a glimmer of hope on the horizon as a #TLXTypeS is coming very soon with a turbo V6 and SH-AWD. Until that new car arrives, the old 2008 #TLTypeS still represents the best that Acura has to show for a sport sedan and its exactly why used examples can command a premium, especially if they're in good shape.

    I owned this 2008 TL-S in the grey metallic, two toned interior. They only came one way, having no additional options on the car. When I bought it, I traded in a Porsche Boxster and originally went to drive the smaller TLX. I told the sales guy, Tom, I really liked the car, but that I was not happy with the performance. I remember Tom saying “ok, let’s go back to the the dealership - I’ve got your car.” When we got back, as I was waiting for him, I saw him pull up in the most beautiful car I had ever seen. I was in love as soon as I sat in the drivers seat. We did go for a drive, but I knew I was buying that car the moment I touched the door handle. To be honest, I don’t even think I asked the price. I wish I still had it.

    This was one of the highlights of the late 2000s and probably peak Acura. The Type S despite being a FWD car really gave a great alternative to the 335i, C350 and of course its Japanese rival the IS 350 something to fear. It was honestly just a SH-AWD system away of being faultless in terms of powertrain.

    • @TonyKimtheamusementparkfan
      @TonyKimtheamusementparkfan ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yeah if it had SH-AWD it would have been perfection~~ but Acura made this car perfectly despite FWD. They can just take a FWD platform and just make it drive incredibly well.

    Went from a 9th gen Civic Si to an '06 TL with the 6-speed. Honestly, everything he's said in this video is 100% correct. It's an AMAZING everyday driver that can smoke 3-valve Mustangs, too (;
    If anyone's looking for them, the 2004-2006 'base' models with the 6-speed still have most of the performance parts from the later Type S: the LSD, Brembo brakes, and stiffer roll bars. They only thing their missing from the Type S are the cosmetic upgrades (so they look identical to the earlier base models) and the bigger 3.5 engine, but they're incredibly similar.
    A 2004-2006 base model with the 6-speed is still faster than the automatic Type S!

    I’m driving a NBP 2008 Acura TL Type S with A-Spec body kit, suspension, and wheels. It has the two tone Type S leather seats. Will sell it when my ES350 F-Sport ordered from the factory in early February arrives sometime in May (hopefully). Bought most of the A-Spec stuff new (got used wheels) and had it installed by an Acura dealer in 2013. Just had the rear deck lid spoiler ($500) replaced a few months back, as it was starting to look worn. Also just spent over $600 getting both of the bank 1 O2 sensors replaced. I also have an ATLP rear window spoiler I never painted or installed, plus a couple of OEM carbon fiber trim pieces. Needles to say, this car is well taken care of. It is the funnest car I’ve ever driven, but want something a little more comfortable (I’m 6’6”) as I hit the half century mark next month. My previous car was an ABP 2004 Acura TL. I got the A-SPEC body kit installed on it, as well as the window vents, and moonroof window deflector. Also, installed upgraded factory Navi with help from fellow local Acurazine member, as well as the Type S headlights and taillights, and the latest side mirrors with blinkers (had to paint them to match). Sold it at a discount to my mom after I bought the Type S. Wish I could hold out for the 2021 TLX, but my patience has run out on Acura getting their act together.
