2024 Kawasaki ZX6R Slip On Exhaust Install

- This is me swapping out my stock exhaust on my 2024 636 KRT edition for a eBay special slip on. I plan on going with a full exhaust and tune eventually, but until I figure out which system I want, this will do. It sounds much better and weighs a little over 14 lbs less than stock.

I am 52 and just bought a 2023 ZX6R and love every minute of it added m4 exhaust puig windscreen frame sliders rear seat delete will upgrade chain and sprockets and exhaust next year and velocity stacks and clutch and brake leavers and block off plates and insane tune why spend 3500 now. So I can enjoy it this year then full boat next season oh and I use Amsoil and factory filter
Heck yeah man!!!
You are doing a heck of a lot more to your bike than I ever want to do to my bike. Just doing small things and I'm curious does getting aftermarket velocity stacks have any benefit to someone like me who isn't even doing much to their bike.
Sounds and looks great ! I miss riding those. Had R1 and MT09. The ZX6R always interested me. I love the redesign. Looking forward to more videos.
Thank you!!! As I've gotten older, I have found that 600's and 300's are much more fun than the bigger bikes. Hahahaha
I think it sounds Amazing and it looks great! I’m hoping to get a 24 Zx6R KRT soon- love it bro
They are great bikes for sure! Go for it and get one!!!
Sounds great!
Thanks!!!
My current bike got totaled last week. Driver of a SUV didnt look right before pulling directly in front of me. This is gonna be my next bike once I am healed up. I really appreciate you weighing all the factory stuff that came off. That weight savings is enough for me to want to get that swap done when I am able to start riding again. Thanks for a very informative and helpful video!
I’m sorry to hear about your accident but I am glad you are ok!!!! Rest up and heal!!! You are more than welcome and I hope you get the bike you want when you are ready to ride again!!!
@bwbhammer Hey man how are you feeling now?
Doing a lot better, thanks for asking, Man! I still can't ride but I can tie my own shoes now. Progress is progress! @@MagicCarpetRide8669
@moto.dad8 did you have to use the oem exhaust gasket inside the pipe?
Man i need a job with you! Lol i love the bikes and the garage setup. So sick!
Much appreciated!
For the breather box you can roll it off with the tire if you got it raised for it to spin. Comes off in seconds.
Great job! Bike sounds sweet, getting rid of all that weight helps everything! Super cool brother
Thanks a ton!!! It's nice to be heard now. Hahahaha. Now to decide what full system I want to go with because the ECU restrictions on this thing are crazy.
@@moto.dad8 hey sir, I am in no way associated with them but I have to point you in the direction of 2WheelDynoWorks in Washington state. Look them up in the web for their flash services. They build these flashes with incredible attention to detail, they are the only tuning shop I trust to touch my H2. She has about 274 hp to the wheel right now. :))) tell Nate that Sebastian pointed you in his direction for an ecu flash, you will get the good guy discount brother! Please look them up, you won’t be sorry!
@@moto.dad8 I love the M4 full system on my hat machine, price is great and the hp numbers are as good as any out there. You can see the numbers 2wheel makes on their TH-cam channel. Again, not affiliated, just a good friend of the owner Nels and I would be remiss if I didn’t point you in their direction. Trustworthy bunch with very fair pricing.
I have already looked into them and they are on my short list. I also my take my bike to Chris Moore (he's only 3 hours from me) and have him put it on the dyno for me. If I don't go with him, I'll definitely hit up 2WDW and Nate (I've talked to him a bit on FB). Thank you for the help and I'll be sure to drop your name if I go that route.
I dig the M4 but I want something different. Well, let me say they don't call to me when I see them on the bikes. There is a company in Thailand that makes full titanium systems I'm thinking of going with but until I figure it out, I'll rock this el' cheapo slip on, LOL.!
I installed this exact exhaust on my 23 zx6r based on this video, i like the exhaust, its quite a bit louder than the stock. i used the baffle though, i will eventually upgrade to a better exhaust but for now this works fine to get rid of the huge stock exhaust
Hell yeah! Not bad for the price especially if you plan on going with a full system down the line.
Great vid, thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Nice video! What spools do you have? Definitely need to buy some mats for my bike 🙌🏼
They are in my link in the description. The rugs do keep the garage looking neat. Thank you for the comment and for watching bro!!
Looking good 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you much!!!!
Scorpion redpower exhaust, very underrated put mine on today ferom a 15 zx6r sounds like a crossplane down low
Thanks for information man, I'll look them up and check them out!!! Very much appreciated!!!
Where’d you get those rugs? That bike looks so good.
I really appreciate that!!!! They are from Factory Effex. The Kawasaki one is linked in the description on my LinkTree. The RST mat came from The Visor Shop in the UK (online order).
Got the same exact exhaust as you, just installed it and I have a slight exhaust leak going from the cat into the link pipe, did you have any problem with any leakage? I got the clamp pretty tight but might have it on wrong. Just curious but it sounds so good for the price so I’m happy
No exhaust leak on my end, at least none I could notice.
Can I put a slip on exhaust on a brand new 2024 zx6r without any problems like a check engine light? Thanks in advance
Good Job.
Very much appreciated!
Im really on edge with either going for the krt or black 2024 zx6r. I really like the belly fender on the 2021 version. I wonder if it’s compatible with the 2024 version. Most likely not, haven’t seen anyone do it.
Can you post a pic of what you are talking about on the belly? I personally liked the livery on the 22 KRT better than the 23 and 24. However, the front end redesign is what sold me on the 24. Thanks for watching and commenting, I really appreciate it!!!
Hey do you know the size of the opening of the connecting pipe to the catalytic converter? Would previous generation mid pipe/ link pipes fit? I know a few previous exhaust fit not sure of the link pipe though
I don't know the opening size but it's the same at 2019+ I know for sure. The slip on I put on was for a "23".
Can you please check if theres a timer function on that new dash? Some of the previous gen zx6r’s used the flash to pass button to trigger it. There are kits to turn this into an oem gps laptimer. Just curious before i buy the new zx6r?
I did not read anything about this one having a lap timer in the manual.
Great video. Question, did you use the db silencer in line with the mid pipe.. or does it have a removable baffle installed at all? Thanks in advance
No, I did not use the db killer at all. I like the sound without it for sure. LOL
@moto.dad8 awesome thanks brother! Safe riding
@@traeb8866 thank you sir and the same to you!!!! Keep the rubber to the road!
It sounds good.
I assume it's exhaling easier (with less backpressure) now.
So don't you need to recalibrate the air/fuel ratio (or retune it somehow) now?
With it being just a slip on and the cat still intact, it runs just fine without a tune. It still has the same flat spots in the rev range as stock. Once I go full system, I will get the ECU tuned for the mods.
I have more questions.
How can I email you?
@@wb7942 sure, just email the one on my channel page 👌
I bought an ebay exhaust similar to this one. Was wondering if you have any exhaust leaks? I have to use a little bit of gasket sealer to close it up a little
I haven't had any with mine so far. I don't plan on keeping this on too long though, going full system over the winter.
Could you share the link for servo eliminator please ?
I see the sc $140 dollar one but in the pic it shows a smaller straight pipe not the twisted one. Trying to purchase the same as yours .
They have different ones with different options. The one I bought isn't showing up anymore so you just have to search.
Did u need a servo buddy for the slip on since the servo got removed? It throw a code?
I did install the servo buddy and no code was thrown (didn't start it without the servo buddy) although without it, it will throw a code/CEL
I tried to find a servo buddy for my 2024 zx6r and I can only find for 2023. Do you have any idea if the servo for 2023 would fit for the 2024?
Yes the 23 will fit and is what I have. The only thing changed on the 24 is the front nose fairing
Could you please send me the link to that slip on. I appreciate and enjoyed the video. I’m digging the tool box color scheme. Rock on.
www.ebay.com/itm/404164467559 Here you go bro! Thank you for watching the video and I appreciate the comment!!!! Rock on dude!!!
Beautiful job! You work very neatly. I have ordered my one in black/grey arriving in Oct in the UK.
@@Ibarbecuekids Nice!!! Congrats man and enjoy it. They are amazing fun bikes!
Excuse my ignorance but what’s the servo and cables for?
There is a valve in the stock exhaust (where the two cables run) that opens and closes based on the ECU programming. If you just remove the cables and motor, it will make the check engine light come on. The servo buddy keeps that from happening. It's better to flash the ECU but this works until you can get that done. I got mine from www.sportbiketrackgear.com (you have to put the year in as a 2023 since they don't have 2024 up yet but it fits all the same).
Why can’t you leave the servo? I’d think if you just unhooked the cable and left the servo plugged in that it would be fine but I could be wrong
You can, but I didn't want the cables left on and the weight of the servo. Either is fine, I just prefer to remove as much weight as possible.
Why do you need to remove the servo motor and what's the original purpose of it?
It opens and closes a valve in the stock exhaust. Since that exhaust was removed, the servo motor is no longer needed. Just adds extra weight.
nice view of your back
Best from all angles, 😂
did you add block off plates? if not does it pop on decel?
No block off plates. It has a slight pop on decal from high revs but not a lot.
Next mod - fender eliminator 🙂 no check engine light after the servo buddy? Can you post the link for it. Thanks.
No check engine light at all. I am waiting for verification from YT for my links to be clickable in the description. I got the servo buddy from Sportbike Track Gear though!
You don’t have to take off the right side tail fairing. You can start from the bottom at the butterfly valve and work your way up.
Yes you are correct! I just prefer to see which is why I took it off but you are right, it is not necessary.
will having this exhaust on require any tune or flash for the bike? any negative effects from not getting it tuned or flashed after exhaust install?
With just a slip on and the catalyst still on the bike, the bike runs just fine. When I get a full system I will be getting my ECU tuned.
@@moto.dad8 thanks man. I really appreciate your video. Thanks
@@lucas.310 I really appreciate you watching. I just uploaded a new video showing a TST integrated tail light and a fender eliminator if you want to check it out! Thank you very much for watching and commenting!!!
hey nice sound, one question, does fits, the previous model?
Yes, the only thing different on the 2024 is the front fairing/headlights and TFT display. The engine and mechanical parts are the same as 19-23 I believe.
Tks man
Anything i dont care if you sawzall off the exhaust, is better than stock. I hate sounding like an electric toothbrush going down the street
Amen to that!
Why does the breather box need to be removed? What happens if I do, or don’t remove it?
The slip on is designed to remove the breather box. It's a huge amount of weight that offers no performance.
M4 GP are best slip on exhaust for Kawasaki ZX6R
If I was staying with just a slip on I may have went that route. But I plan on going full system over the winter so I didn’t want to drop $400 only to drop another 1-2K this winter.
Do you need to tune the bike after installing the slip on?
With the cat still intact, there is no need for a tune although the bike is lacking from the factory. It still has the same flat spots that it did with the stock exhaust.
Any chance u have the link for the exhuast with the pipe I can’t find it
It's just a eBay cheap one. Just search your bike on there and dozens will pop up. Read reviews and question on the products to make sure it will fit yours.
@@moto.dad8 I did but it shows a different pipe then the one u had
Great job... how much you charge for the work?..
It's an easy job that I did myself. I don't do that for a living.
I would DEFINITELY have that ecu flashed now, can almost guarantee you it's starving for fuel! Another way they get them to pass emissions, they run super lean from the factory.
Once I go full system, I will get it tuned. Right now it runs just like it did with the stock exhaust, flat spots in the same areas as stock.
The cat wasn't removed. He is probably fine.
If I live the servo motor whit no cables do I need a servo buddy ??
I don't believe so but I've never done that so I can't say for sure.
Where do you buy the exhaust/slip ons?
It was from eBay. Thanks for watching!
What's the servo buddy for and where would I get it? I'm trading in my 2023 400 se for this same bike and I'll be putting a slip on on the bike as well. I'm new to bikes so sorry if this is a stupid question. I'd like to get the same exhaust. I jave a leo vince on my 400 atm. That was a way simpler install.
@@moto.dad8 thanks alot I'm going to the dealer tommorow to check out their zx6rs. I wish I could put the leo on it but as far as I've researched you need to get a mid pipe welded custom for it. I'm going to look around a bit more for sure though.
I hear you there bro, I had a Leo Vince on my '17 R6 and I loved it. I am thinking of going with a full graves system since they offer titanium full systems. I like the Akra look but I'm not paying $1600+ for SS when I can get titanium for $1900. Let me know what you go with bro! I hope you get you one of these, they are awesome!
@@moto.dad8 ya that's a lot of money for just an exhaust. I don't care about performance gains either tbh. I just want it to sound nice because well its baddass and I'm less likely to get hit if people hear me haha.
I am with you on that. I'm not so worried about HP gains but I don't like the flat spots from the factory. I am going to go with a full system and ECU flash once I figure out which one I want. With my slip on, I can feel the power cutting at certain RPMs in different gears a lot more than with the stock exhaust. These ECUs come so restricted that once you get a flash, you will wonder how you ever road with those stock settings. Even if you aren't worried about top end speed, I'd still recommend getting your ECU flashed.
Do you have the link for which one you got?
I don’t have that specific link any more but if you go on eBay and search your bike and just enter “slip on exhaust”, you will see an array of options.
is there anyway you can just zip tie the cables? instead of removing them?
I am sure you could, however there would be no resistance on the cables which may still trigger a CEL. I am not for sure on that though. For the price of a servo buddy (like $65 bucks), I just went that route. If you try it out let me know how it goes!!!
@@moto.dad8 true! well i will just get the servo too! thank you!!:)
You're more than welcome man and thank you for checking out the video!!!
Does anyone know the song in the intro? Please help lol. I want it badly.
I don’t remember the name but it is from the epidemic sound website.
I have the 2021 zx10r with the real SC project, that cost me about a stack & 3 weeks for shipping,I can tell you right now sc project don’t even make link pipes that curl like that🤣🤣🤣everything they got is pretty much straight pipe,I would definitely recommend you stop being cheap n get the real deal, mines is flashed with the pops & bangs so believe me it definitely shots flames
Read the description or watch the video before commenting, thank you :)
i need the link for this exhaust, someone help me out
I don't have the link anymore, but it was on eBay. Just search pipes for your specific bike. May have to check often as they come and go on there all the time.
Why is there a servo on the exhaust???
It opens and closes and valve on the exhaust to regulate the airflow coming from the exhaust.
@@moto.dad8 ahh okay, thanks!
Is that for warming up the engine faster with more backpressure?
Or in general for fuel economy?
Idk if it is Fake Sc project. But if this is the Real one. This is not eBay cheat stuff. This is Italian little Factory. Where everything is made by order handly
It's a knock off as stated in the description. I am going full system and didn't want to spend $500 on just sound. It is what it is.
Topissima
Thank you!
Link of servo buddy? Please
www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/servo-buddy-kawasaki-suzuki?sku_id=978258
Why is there a servo in the exhaust?
Most modern sport bikes have them (probably others too). It's just a valve that regulates the amount of exhaust gas that is allowed to flow. The servo motor is what was under the seats. That operates the cables that operate the valve on the stock exhaust.
Got the link to the slip on?
Here you go bro! www.ebay.com/itm/404164467559
Send me the link on the slip on please
The link I had is no longer active. I just searched my bike/slip on exhaust on eBay.
I don't understand ppl who post a YT upload of their back when the title claims it is a slipon exhaust install video.
What are you even talking about? It is a slip on install video.
your voice over the video is really low you should increase the volume for your videos like this. i had to stop everything in the background to be able to listen to you.
Sorry about that
Hi, your bike is lean due to EPA, and now more lean with the open muffler, so the engine get hotter and hotter. I don’t understand why do you make modifications if you don’t know what are you doing. You got sound and you kill the engine. Also the servo buddy eliminator is 30$, why did you pay double price for it? Enjoy your bike, flash your ECU before you cook the engine with your incompetence
Thanks for the comment! This isn’t my first rodeo but I appreciate your concern for my bike and what I do. 😊😊
@@moto.dad8 no problem, anytime.
You must shaved off at least 4 lbs LOL
It was much more than that. It was over 15 lbs saved (I can't remember the exact number).
Do you have the name and serial number of that exhaust ? Also what is that servo you were talking about and why did u take it off ? Just bought the same bike and need more sound to it as well
It is just a cheap, eBay slip on exhaust. The servo is for the stock exhaust. I removed mine and added the servo buddy for weight savings and space under the rear seat.
@@moto.dad8 i just don’t understand what is the servo, what is it’s own purpose..it looks like some kind of ecu
I dont understand people buying nice motorcycles and then put cheap fake parts on it. Next buy the cheapest oil and tyres and dont get the full potential. It even have the fake Sc project name. 🤦
It’s a piece of metal going from the cat to air. If you want to spend $400 plus on a slip on then another $1600+ for a full system later, go ahead. I’ll rock my cheap slip on until I decide what full system to get. If you read the description, I never said it's a cheap slip-on. I'm not trying to say it's real or a great exhaust either. I am saying that it's a better alternative than the stock can and cheaper than a M4 slip-on, especially for those going with a full system down the road. As for oil and tires, I run Kawasaki oil and Dunlops (once these Pirellis are used up). Thanks for watching though and have a great day!!!
His bike, he can do whatever the f he wants. Go bitch somewhere else 🤣
Thanks!!!! There is always at least one person who feels the need to get on their soapbox and say something. Those same people are the one who buy cheap internal parts that make a difference (spark plugs, coil packs, etc) because they think no one will notice. I'll spend my money on things that matter, not a slip on. LOL
I dont get it why people don't understand its his Motorcycle he can put anything the Fvck he want on it... Right Boss..?? Great Video.. Fvck those People... 😅
It's their bike,, you didn't pay for it they put whatever they choose. In other words! Gtfoh!
No ECU flash needed Right?
Correct, since the CAT is still on there, it's not really needed (in my opinion).
