I was deeply moved by this segment. I had cancer 6 years ago. I got over the physical pain rather quickly. The suffering came after. I felt alone and depressed. Since then, meditation became a habit and it helped me find balance. I understand what it means to be present.

Come to think of it, what is really important in life? I used to think it was career, success, love relationships, etc. I’ve personally overcome a great deal and unfolded a great deal, but somehow I forget about that when I get caught up in these “stories” we create in our heads. We get told you’re supposed to have this and that and be in a certain standing at a certain time in your life. It makes me forget who I really am. Death is “not supposed” to happen to us until a story is fulfilled, otherwise our lives are considered some kind of failure. What nonsense.
Cancer is a word. We have to exit one way or another. When we can drop this story in our heads and see how magnificent we are right now, we realize we are MUCH MORE THAN SOME MEDICAL CONDITION. We are beings that are awake, we are aware and we are full of love. This is who we are.

Exactly, sometimes it feels like we need the 'perfect' life to be happy. Always we need a reason to feel good. But we forget that the most things in life is out of our control. Some things we can't just change, we need to accept. Thanks for your comment, you made me remember what's realy important in life.

I've got a chronicle illness since youth. The worse thing you can do when you are in pain is to think: Now how long has this been going on, and just how long is this going to last? Automatically, this makes you discover the Now and forget about past and future, because within the moment, pain becomes way more bearable. Listen, I still suffer a lot, you know: being in agony very often is an incredible training. When I'm without pain, I enjoy that condition so very much, maybe excessively so, I don't know. Maybe it's possible to reach a condition that you don't even feel the difference any more. I certainly haven't reached that point.

It is SO crazy that he said he's never had health problems yet he explained exactly what happened to me when I was diagnosed with cancer last year. That "forcing into the present moment." I didn't know how to quite describe it, but the weekend after my diagnosis, when I had to tell my family, I kept trying to explain how I felt. It was like a veil was lifted and all of a sudden, for the first time in my 39 years, I could just see everything crystal clear. I am so grateful for it.

      The only thing that is appearing to stop you from enlightenment/self-realization/eternal life/knowing yourself to be unconditional love is identification with thoughts, emotions, sensations, perceptions and experiences instead of being aware of being aware and knowing yourself to be that unconditional love pure consciousness in which all thoughts, emotions, sensations, perceptions and experiences appear but are not inherently one with you; they are an expression of unconditional love; you are that infinite that is expressing itself as suffering/pleasure but inherently you are neither; you are that nothing/unconditional love/pure consciousness in which they are appear and by which they are perceived;
Suffering/pleasure comes and goes; there is an awareness that is aware of them coming and going; that you are; remember and know what you are; never identify with anything that is appearing within you; since it appears within you; it can't be you; you are that in which it appears. When you abide as that in which it appears instead of identifying; nothing has a grip on you; if anything comes; it quickly goes; like clouds passing; only if you identify as a cloud then it will appear as if the cloud is here for longer than it is originally supposed to; if you simply rest as the awareness and do not identify; it will quickly dissolve; be unconditional love by being aware of being aware; this is the highest; this is what you are seeking in absolutely everything else; you are seeking yourself; you are seeking unconditional love; but you are looking outside of yourself; instead of being aware that you already are unconditional love. Love love

@@mindsigh4 so it’s been a bit more complicated than just surrendering. Although this concept has helped quote a bit. I have had to alleviate some of the stressors in my life through therapy and changing jobs. Also eliminating dairy, caffeine and reducing alcohol consumption has been very helpful. It is still not fully healed but has improved significantly and I’m confident I will have it behind me in another year or so

Look into allergies/intolerances. I had a soy allergy for 30 years before I realized that's what was causing all my issues. It's in more than just labelled products - vegetable oils, polysorbates, glycerins, natural and artificial flavours, rosemary extracts, stearates and cellulose (almost all meds). I didn't realize because it was everywhere.
If that isn't the case I hope you find healing but I always make sure to mention the soy when people say they have stomach problems. I also had eczema and sinus headaches that cleared up with the elimination of soy.

For me, cancer was a blessing. I experienced cancer for approximately 16 months, getting chemo and radiation for most of that time. It was a very rough time, but that period of my life allowed me to be able to help countless others in their journey through cancer treatments. I can honestly say, "I know how you feel." And I can walk them and their families through the incredibly difficult path that awaits them. If I had to do it again, I wouldn't change a thing, no matter how painful and challenging.

I read a great passage from Adyashanti today:
"It has been my observation that many people involved in spirituality are waiting for some great spiritual experience to make everything in their lives clear and solve all of their problems for them. This is a bit of an overstatement but not all that uncommon to varying degrees. Instead of trying to remain in a state of stillness, or peace, or any other state when dealing with the challenges of life, we are better served by seeking to act and respond with wisdom, clarity, and openheartedness."

I am so enjoying “The Power Of Now” and I love what this man speaks about. I am trying every day, in every moment that I can, to be present. However, I’ve just read a story about a beautiful 6 month old baby girl who has been diagnosed with life threatening leukemia, and I can’t get my head around this awful story. It’s made me so emotional. I’m not sure I understand how these awful things can happen in such a young and helpless being. It all seems so unfair to me. I’m struggling with how to “think” about this awful story and this poor baby girl who won’t live much longer. A baby doesn’t ask for this illness. It just seems so sad that they don’t get the same chance to live a long life that another being does.
I’d be interested to hear some thoughts on this. 🙏🏼

I have also witnessed this. I think the Fear of Death program can really cause that continued downwards spiral into worry and further illness. When someone liberates themselves from that falseness, the Light takes over and the luminosity of the Soul on the edge of Oneness becomes clear! Beautiful share Eckhart, thank you so much. ❤️🙏

Someone who is diagnosed with a terminal disease, loses ego because he has no future any more. This is not my case. Maybe I'll have to go through this ordeal and live to be a hundred. Because of all this I published "The Philosophy of Now", which contains ever so much similarities with Eckhart 's message. I cannot confront a public, and help it the way he does. So I'm glad he does.

Does anyone know how to deal with the “isness” of a moment when there is more than 1 layer at given moment?
For example, if someone gets angry at a spouse over a conversation, there is 1 thing happening at the moment. But what if you are super tired at the end of a long day with 2 toddlers, you want to sleep but you can’t, because your toddlers refuse to sleep passed their bed time, and your husband who was supposed to help you put them to sleep, fell asleep before everyone else; and your kids are kicking and screaming and causing noise pollution for the neighbours?
What is the isness of this moment? To which do you surrender? How?

The only thing that helps is to say they will lose something they like if not stopping . And you take indeed from them. My daughter has done this and works. They beg her not take away things like cell, plays, horse classes that my grandson loves. If they are too young, find something that will make them sad if taken out from them. 😂
