This is the most well done, thought out model railroad I have ever seen. This man is able to differentiate each area of his layout via the use of his scenery, using the snow effect to create an unbelievable winter mountain pass to desert areas and the use of colored sands and dirt and weeds and bushes. The rock formations are only beaten by mother nature. This is the best layout I have ever seen!
The highline ( time 16:40 ) is amazing , as is the rest of this masterpiece. Hard to believe all this was created by one man. congrats Jim. Nice to revisit this layout. HOn3 is alive and well. Thanks for the vid. ( regards Mario, Australia )
Awesome layout! However, I would be afraid to have my tracks so very close to the edge of the table, any derailments would end up on the floor. Living in S. California, I have expect a shaker now and then...
This layout is fantastic, the scenery is just perfect, gives me great ideas how to scenic my logging area, might have been a little more enjoyable without so much talking.
+Misfit Sandi Agree, the great detailing would deserve another video with better resolution. But the red cast is pretty bad as well. So this could also be corrected.
Can't understand why so few comments! Maybe its too overwhelming. I'll never get there with my little layout, but it's something to strive for. We need examples to model and your scenery is among the best I've ever seen. Thanks! (A little too much talking, a big distraction!)

Excellent layout! Even the ghost of John Allen would be impressed.
Have read your articles for years - enjoyed seeing the layout and the articles .
Jim will be missed, such a great modeler.
This a great layout, R.I.P. Jim. You will be missed.
Excellent in every respect. Thanks for posting!

Is the layout really that brown everywhere? Everything seems to range between umber and ochre.
Jim was having an open house that day, hence lots of background chatter.
now that is CRAFTSMANSHIP.
I would love to see these videos without all the BS in the back ground!!!!!!!
