- This is a casually-shot video I did as a trial run for a new camera. It's not a formal operating session or layout tour, just my chance to become a bit better accustomed to a new camera's operating system, lens controls, and so forth. I used Dave's existing layout room lighting with no additional lighting (this time). Dave's craftsmanship is exceptional and truly inspirational to model railroad hobbyists in any scale. #on3 #narrowgaugemodelrailroad #steamrailroad #historicmodelrailroad

Everything is on a higher level ! Amazing scenery and realistic speed. The new camera looks perfect, surely in the hands of a cameraman who produces steady pictures and great view angles !

this isicredible i work for my uncle making ho diarqmas of farm and logging camp and cavlrey battles themed around trains they dont look that good but theye are cheap

Nice work shooting the video Jeff, especially since a new camera you weren't used to yet. I used to do video before I started doing photography. What fluid head were you using? Very smooth action. The zoom outs were very smooth also on your camera. Thanks.

Thank you! It was a Bogen fluid head, a higher-end model of theirs, works great. (It's in a locked secure storage space so I don't have the model number right in front of me). But I also used a slider system that created most of the moving-camera shots. Nothing like setting up two tripods and a 6-foot slider support plus a full-size camera, a Canon C100, in the narrow aisles of a model railroad, then fitting me and my helper into the same space. Great fun!
@@JeffJohnston Sound's cool. I did video quite a while ago and still have 3 shoulder mount 3-Chip broadcast cameras here. This was in the day before people started using DSLRs and the smaller by comparison cameras. They were great cameras in their day. I still have a large Bogen 3066 Head and tripod (the tripod model escapes me now), which are also going unused.
Visited the CCNG during the Portland NNGC. One of my favorite layouts. We need another NNGC there!
As an exercise in camera work it's a total success and a great layout to boot. Does wobble a bit around 5:30. Cheers.
