I don’t get the chain part. When you first chain stitches on are you chaining on 97 or 197 for this size.(6 balls 8mm)
First you say you made 97 chains and then you single crochet back and ended up with 196 stitches. ???
I heard the same thing but the written pattern says 197 chains
Kelly, beautiful stitch. I want to make it as a baby blanket. Can you come up with a nice border for it?
May i ask how many cakes are needed. The written pattern link is broken unavailable
This turned out BEAUTIFUL. Thank you for Sharing ❤
You are so welcome!!
I’m confused 😐 You said you chained an initial 97 and you stitch count ended up being 196. How do you have more stitches than your initial chain? I’m a long time crocheter and I don’t understand this.
So sorry about that... I meant to say 197 chains and 196 single crochet stitches on the foundation row. I hope this helps. Thank you for watching!!
It’s beautiful. I’ve been working on this being my first afghan, however, I’ve messed up somewhere and I’m going to need a border to fix the edges. Thanks for teaching this stitch and an update!
You can do it! Thank you so much watching!!
I LOVE this yarn and pattern! I've got 2 balls on the afgan and can't wait to see it finished!
I am giving this a try, but quickly realizing I may not be rated for this yet, and also finding out that the ombré yarn is not great for beginners, I am using a similar yarn but in an ombré which makes it very hard to see your stitches. Also, my chain was way too tight in some places (it seemed to be tightening as I went). I had to switch to a smaller hook to get into the tiny places. I may give it up and try again later, but love the video, you are a great teacher, and this is a beautiful piece.
Oh don't give up, you may just need a little more practice. Here is a link to my video on learning to crochet and getting some great tips as you practice. th-cam.com/video/sZTUqgg0kTM/w-d-xo.html
Crochet does take time. This particular yarn is actually beginner friendly as it is a 4 weight worsted yarn. Even though it is an ombre, it actually is not hard to see the stitches as you create them. But as a beginner, you will want to stay away from really dark colored yarns and textured yarns... hard to see stitches on both of those.
Let me know if this is helpful.....
You inspired me to try this and I am loving it! Already through one ball of yarn. It's so pretty!
Wonderful!
If I want to make this in a twin size (my son is TALL!), what adjustments would I need to make?
Enjoyed both videos, especially this recap:) Very nicely done! Will probably make this my next project. Thank you:)
I’m so glad to hear this!!
I love making this. I am finish so now do I block the throw or do I wash it or just done
Why didn't you show the actual work?

Hi , I just made using exact measurements, and yarn, turned out beautifully. Thank you very much for sharing. Did you put a border on yours?
I’m so glad it worked out for you!!! No I did not put a border on.
Thank you so much for watching!!
Thank you for replying, I didn’t think you did - wanted to make sure! Really enjoying your channel ! Great job! Hope you have a wonderful day and week😊
WOW! 🤩 Congrats on your successful creation! Thank you so much for sharing. It’s nice that you went into much detail.
Looking forward to your next video tutorial.
Thanks so much! 😊
I appreciate your method of teaching afghans. I have never done any of the silent ones. I like to hear the instructions as I crochet my work. Great job on teaching.
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching!
What a gorgeous afghan! I am in hopes to do one and hope I can do a fair job of it. TFS your talent. I appreciate your training videos.
Thank you so much! I so appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment.
Hi, I have been working on this but the measurements are not making sense to me. 60 long is really long and the 40 tall is really short. Which way are the stripes supposed to run?
It is a long blanket. We have tall people in the fam. I had the stripes go with the 60" dimension.
How did you get your rows to be one color?? Did you have to cut your yarn and start with the next color Great video Barb
No cutting…just keep crocheting. None of the rose ended at the end of my Afghan. All of them and it somewhere in between the rows. But as you keep crocheting, they will blend in really nicely. That’s the beauty of the South striping yarn! No color changes needed.

I fell in love with the blanket and decided to make one for my granddaughter for Christmas.Just finished it i used 7 cakes .it turned out beautiful! Thank you for the pattern. Also the yarn is really nice.the 20%wool really makes it feel and work up great!
I am making a blanket straight for the first time. Your instructions how to do these two stitches worked for me when others haven’t. This stitch is so pretty. I’m hoping you’re planning on coming back. I really appreciate your videos. It seems I’m not able to subscribe.
Are the stripes running top to bottom or side to side for 60 x41
They go along the 60" dimension. Enjoy!
I love your tutorials, and I love your voice very soothing. I am not a new crocheter but a simple stitch and beautiful yarn make a wonderful project. You inspire me to remember the joy of the craft. Many blessings ❤😊
Iam doing that blanket and with the same colour I love this pattern
I'm so glad you are enjoying it. Thank you for taking time to watch and comment!
New subscriber! I love your attention to detail and your stitches are so beautiful! Thank you so much! I'm of to buy yarn and start my afghan! 😊
How many stitches would you suggest for a foundation chain if I want to make this baby afghan sized? I love how it looks soft and squishy and doesn’t have holes😊
I love this afghan! Bought the yarn and started the afghan a few weeks ago. I do love the colors of this yarn. I noticed after the second cake that this yarn has to be hand washed and laced flat to dry. I was going to give this afghan to my grandson and his wife, but they both work full time and are expecting their first child next month so, I don’t think they will want an afghan that can’t be washed in the washing machine. I’m going to keep it for myself and just have it dry cleaned. I finished it yesterday and it is beautiful! I did run out of yarn so, I have to get another cake to finish all 4 edges as I like the look of a finished border. It was a very easy pattern and you describe so well how to make it. Thank you so much!
beautiful!! Would love to see the whole thing!! I spread out mine on my bed after I finish one and take a few pictures!
I love this stich! It makes a beautiful blanket! Made this for my daughter for Christmas but it's going to be hard to let go of it!
You definitely pick a gorgeous color yarn!👍 I love it!!❤
Thanks for checking on the yarn. I'm going to make it, thanks again

Initial chain of 97 and then final stitch count is 196??
Stitch count is 196, so a base chain of 197.
I’m glad you asked that question bc I had the same one. I watched that part several times and then decided to check the comments in case some one else was confused too. I just placed my order for the cakes and the hook and I cannot wait to make this! ❤
Beautiful blanket
Thank you! 😊 I'm glad you like it!
