Good news and bad news! Good news is I finally got recognized for my efforts in keeping "Bucket of Bolts" airborne! I got promoted! The bad news is during my promotion ceremony I heard one of our radio men recieve a report of what the boys on the front described as a strange aircraft with a blue nose and no canopy. Apparently the pilot bounced a flight of krauts and shot them to ribbons. I cut the ceremony short and ran out to the runway when I heard the sound of our mustang's returning and lo and behold there was Mr. Hall with no canopy already on final approach. Again he touched down off to the side of the runway and with a god awful crunch and a loud pop he blew the seals on his left main landing gear. The sheepish grin told me all I needed to know... "A fuse must have blown or something, i dont know why the canopy blew off!" "I swear if it wasn't for the medals the brass seems so keen on tacking to your chest Mr. Hall you'd be in here with the grease monkeys fixing this screw up!" Maybe I'll give the bar keep at the Officers club some bolts to drop in Mr. Hall's whiskey as payback.

My grandfather was a flight engineer on a B-25. Never saw air combat as he was in the Philippines. He did fight the Japanese in the jungles of Bataan though.
3 missions, no canopies returned to airbase. That's a pretty good record
For anyone that wonders, during WWII, fighter pilots flying escort missions rarely flew in straight lines when they were entering near enemy territory.
This was to do with not being a "sitting duck", meaning that you're not a steady target. This gives also the strategic advantage that you give yourself more view around yourself, thus you'll be more aware of your surroundings.
Another con was that fighter were able to keep up with the large bomber formations as well as easier able to dive in to any angle due to the S-lining patterns they flew escort.
These tactics were developed and evolved in WWI when airmen in larger groups found themself struck by sudden attacks and the blindspots of the bi-plane upper wings.
Even on the route home, it was safer to fly in S-lines zig-zagging through the sky to roughly fly on course to 'home'.
Some of these tactics are still used today in modern combat, even though we have radar and other more advanced tech that wasn't available at the time.
Conclusion, to avoid tunnel-visioning and being a sitting duck, S-line your way around till you're confirmed safe. Stay aware of your surroundings and knowing your aircrafts deadzones is always a benefit.

As for the bugs. These devs are actually pretty good at squashing bugs. This is the first major bug I have had in a while to be honest. Something I can't really say about alot of AAA games these days haha

The town name is wrong! Not München-Gladbach its Mönchengladbach :D Sry i live there and its funny to See that the map is wrong. Greetings from Germany and good stuff!
On the contrary. It would be somewhat weird if a game that is set during WW2 had a town name that was only introduced in the 1950s. München Gladbach is absolutely correct for WW2.

@@olekundbolek9160 They wanted to make sure it was confused with neither München in Bavaria nor Bergisch Gladbach near Cologne so they tweaked the name a little and changed München Gladbach to Mönchengladbach.

My IdeaPad S145 is not capable of this game unless I upgrade RAM & CPU. My 'ping' is so low multiplayer will not be practical. That being said looking forward to play. Keep at Wolf I enjoy your show.

Those canopies ain't cheap you know! Impressive work bouncing that flight of FW190's on your way home. That 190 is all engine and has a turn radius the size of Texas when its laden with a bomb load and full bag of fuel. Best way to beat them down is to get in low and hit them hard then turn sharply away. They'll either jettison their bombs and give chase or they'll take the hit and try to press to target. Either way they wont be able to keep as tight a turn as a good mustang jockey. Keep it up!
Yeah they are pretty slow and they had a full bomb load. I actually saw them all ditch them and run for home. Too little too late I suppose!

Content is cool, but you need to work on leading the targets and following behind the planes vs making passes.. You save fuel,ammo, and time.. just an observation...

For ejecting the canopy during the colder months good thing there is no 'survival' mechanic. Your pilot would have been a block of ice, or at least been able to use his nose drippings as a pair of chopsticks.
Your side code spells "WHO" I guess its technically W*HO, but I think it's better the other way.

I don't go as often as I would like but I did go to one earlier this fall! It was quite alot of fun. There was actually a Mig 15 there that they had flying. Really cool to see. I definitely want to go to more.

@@Wolfpack345 I lived Guam for over a decade. Never seen so many types of military aircraft on a regular basis. Saw B-2s , F anything almost, including F 22s & a flight of Ospreys at the end. Did job adding 'spikes' to USAF facilities . The spikes were supposed to prematurely detonate warheads.

Great vid. Nice to discover your channel. My TrackIR in BOBP gets really buggy while flying Allied aircraft in Career Mode for some reason. Specifically the 51 and 47 are the most troublesome. It's not frame drop or anything. Just an odd bug. Otherwise, it's a joy to fly this map. Cheers

Good vids as always Wolf! Question is there a key button on the BF-109s to move the gunsight over? I think is saw you do that in of your vids while flying a 109.
RAlt-F toggles it over and back and LAlt-F to toggle the sun filter. Cool function as it clears up windscreen. It only works for the late 109's I think G-6-12 and the K. Also works for the ME 262. Cheers.

Thanks! There is a flight recorder built into the game. CTRL+R by default I think. I go back and re record the footage of the aircraft getting shot down from different points of view.
