I'm a campus security guard/dispatcher at my university but I only work dispatch and day shifts during the school year. But in the summer, I did do a lot of patrols/checks in the wee hours of the morning, so there would be no one there other than security and sometimes custodial. Here are my two creepiest stories:
    1. My university has a daycare on campus for the general public. I was doing an interior check of the building at like 2am when I suddenly hear a really grainy and kinda distorted "Old MacDonald Had a Farm". When it's 2 in the morning and you're alone in a creepy daycare, that's not exactly the nicest thing to hear. Turns out it was a toy that had been left on that would play parts of children's songs ever couple minutes. I turned it off and everything was fine.
    2. I was doing an interior check of one of the (very empty) dorms and went down to the basement to finish the check. I open the basement door, step inside, and shine my flashlight directly ahead of me. At the other end of the basement is an electric piano... and this night, it wasn't alone. A VERY creepy doll, about the size of a toddler, had been positioned on the bench like it was playing the piano. It nearly gave me a heart attack. When I got back to base and told the other guards about the doll, they laughed and were like yeah, it got us too, until I told them where I saw it. They looked at each other, suddenly a bit more serious, and went "that's not where it was earlier..." Turns out, the nightshift custodial guys had moved it to freak us out 😂

Decided to stop by Wal-Mart after a long TCG tournament (not a fan of crowds, so I will shop late to avoid them). Am grabbing some stuff off the shelf when _something_ grabs my arm. Almost crap my pants before the employee whispers "play along" and starts talking to me like we're super lovey-dovey. Turns out a particularly . . . well-known local person of questionable sanity and deplorable hygiene had started flirting with her, and her solution was to find the 6'4" guy in the soap aisle and pretend he's her boyfriend in the hopes that the creep will either leave or get belligerent and catch some hands.

I used to work at a Wendy’s. On one on my first closing shifts I went to clean the restroom when I started hearing a baby crying, it was faint but I could hear it. I dropped everything and ran to the manager closing with me. I told him something creepy just happened, he looked me dead in the eyes and asked “Was it a baby crying type noise?”. I said yes and he said “That always happen around this time”. He explained to me that in the building that was there previously a baby was suffocated by its insane mother. I kept hearing that cry every time I closed, eventually I just learned to ignore it.

Story from a former supervisor of mine at a beer/liquor distribution warehouse.
He was working by himself in the warehouse one night finishing up his tasks for the day (For context, his desk and computer were located in a corner towards the front of the place). This warehouse had motion activated lights in order to save on energy, so the only ones that were on were directly obove his workstation. At some point he notices the lights leading up to him start to turn on one by one, all by themselves. Needless to say he noped out of there pretty quickly.

A coworker told a tale about working as night maintenance in a school, cleaning and doing minor repairs. This was pre-internet days. Early 1980s.
Apparently, the school was easy to get into, and it was far more common to hear intruders than see them.
Usually, it was students getting in for pranks or vandalism ( would hear whispering and muffled laughter)...but in a big empty building, that can sound really creepy.
According to him, one funny thing happened. He heard giggling in a hallway, and was near rhe light switches. Turned out the lights, then started banging on lockers while burping loudly...screams and receding footsteps were heard .....

Used to work night shift at a gas station/convince store. One night a guy came in muttering to him self, something felt off. It didn't come off as normal thinking out loud. He hung around in store after buying his stuff. Wandering and waiting. He was waiting for other customers to leave. Thankfully a regular elderly man came in and half under my breath and half just mouthing out the words I told the old man about the creepy guy. " he's creeping me out" the old man stayed claiming and even got the creepy guy to leave by claiming he was my grandfather.
I knew creepy guy was waiting for others to leave as he was trying to get old man to leave as he was the only other reaming customer.

Used to work evening shift as a custodian - not quite night shift, but we got off at 10pm - and one night as we're waiting for the bus we hear some odd noises coming from the apartment complex behind us. Thinking nothing of it, I go back to my music, but all of a sudden the big burly guy I worked with grabbed me by the shoulder and told me to run like hell across the street. That's when we hear loud bangs go off behind us, maybe two or three, in quick succession. Now, I'm a pasty white kid from a middle class family. The only thing I've heard that sounds like that is fireworks, I've never heard a gun go off in my life.
Gunshots. They were gunshots. I never did find out what exactly happened in those apartments, but it's entirely possible I could have gotten shot that night and not made it home. Lucky for me my friend got me across to the other bus stop quickly, which had a bench we could duck behind until said bus got there. It took a couple weeks before we felt comfortable enough to go back to our usual stop, which got us back in time for the early train.
My other story - same guy, same job, different night. In the middle of our train ride home, a guy comes up to where we're sitting and just stares at me for a while. I'm pretty sure he was on something, he looked out of his mind. The second he moved - for what, I don't know - my guy friend stood up and stared him down in return, which got him to high-tail it out of there. DJ was a big guy, over 6' tall, and formerly a bouncer for a shady nightclub. I'm pretty sure if I hadn't known him one of those nights I wouldn't have made it back.

Story 6 reminds me of helping set up for my cousin's bridal shower as a kid. My family is pretty basic when it comes to parties. We don't do anything super fancy, we often just have games we play. My aunt was a nurse at the family practice office in town and they had a conference room in the basement, which they let us use for the party. They had other rooms, too, and the bathrooms were at the other end of the hallway from the conference room. I went to go use the bathroom, and as I walked past one of the other rooms, which was dark and only illuminated by one small window, I saw a person lying on a table. I about had a heart attack. After a second, I realised it was a mannequin. Behind it was a hospital bed with another mannequin laying in it. Turns that room was used for training purposes for the small hospital across the street.
A few years later, I ended up down in the basement there again. I was there for a checkup, and it was storming that day. As I was sitting in the waiting room, the tornado sirens went off, and staff started ushering all the patients into the basement hallway. An elderly female patient saw the mannequins through the window in the door of that room and immediately screamed. Then, just like me, she realised they were mannequins after a couple seconds and started laughing at herself.

18:03 (story 16) yes absolutely I regularly have auditory (sound) hallucinations when I'm falling asleep, and they are usually loud af. couple nights ago i heard what felt like a fighter jet plane flying straight through both my ears. i also hear voices but this happens very seldom and they are more or less nonsense. however, all this happens when i'm actually in bed trying to fall asleep, and is not associated in any way with sleep deprivation. when sleep-deprived (i.e. more than 30 or so hours of not sleeping) i, again kinda seldom, might get some mild visual/auditory hallucinations, like the pattern of the wallpapers in my room wobbling around a bit, or hearing a tv in the other room working quietly while it is in fact off

I've heard from the night shift crews of them hearing sounds or feeling people behind them when they're alone either in that section (if it's a large school) or in the building (if it's a small school). I used to work as a Night Baker at a Panera Bread back when they had the position, I believe it's been phased out. Anyway, the previous General Manager was on his way out. He was an incompetent, nepotistic blow hard that liked the idea of running a well oiled machine of a fast food joint but didn't like idea of actually being responsible for running it. The owners of the franchise I worked for had enough of him and they brought in someone else to essentially take his place. He could tell the writing was on the wall and decided to quit instead of getting fired, but before leaving he hired a new Assistant Manager to "help" the person replacing him and immediately dipped out, not even finishing off his two weeks after hiring the new guy, should have been the first red flag. Everything seemed fine at first, but that was because I worked nights and had very limited interactions with the guy, until one night he showed up around roughly 2:30 in the morning. He, for some reason, wasn't expecting to see anyone there despite the fact I worked the night shift, and gave some poorly thought out excuse for being there that he had to "do computer stuff". I never saw him get anywhere near a computer and instead he kept trying to start a conversation with me. He has no sense of peraonal space and once he gets close enough to me I can smell that he REEKED of alcohol. He kept trying to ask me if I was interested in promotions for some reason, I had been burned by promises of advancement in the past so I told him no. After a while he left...and came back 45 minutes to an hour later, still surprised to see me there. He continues his previous behavior and violates my personal space, says something (I don't remember what) and smiles at me. At that moment the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and I have the thoguht "...I'm gonna have to beat this mother fucker into the ground, aren't I?" I go from tolerating him to being annoyed and I let him know, I went from simple answers to obviously kurt responses. After seeing I wasn't agreeable or falling in line with his vision for the location, he backs up and finally leaves and this time he doesn't come back. A few days later I found out he was fired, the GM found out that he was entering the restaurant at weird hours and when she asked him why, he didn't just get defensive, he got belligerent. He started screaming and cursing her out and she fired him on the spot and told him to return the keys to the restaurant, which he didn't do, he just left. Found out later that he had a record for not just stealing from previous employers but for also attempting to rob one of his previous employers. He was caught because all of his coworkers recognized his build and voice, so yeah, not a criminal mastermind. The GM was understandably spooked and we started arming the locations alarm, which we had never done before, but stopped after he was arrested for, surprise surprise, DUI. That's when I remembered who hired him, the previous GM who was getting replaced who would have access to the guy's past. He hired someone with a violent history at past jobs, and ran before he could do anything, all as a form on petty revenge.

Back in the 80s, I went on a leadership course run by the Transvaal Education Department at this remote site.
The room had one other occupant who snored so loudly I could not sleep.
That messed me up for the next day, so that night, I packed my gear and moved to a newly renovated dorm room in a section where construction work was ongoing but had closed down for the school holidays.
I woke up to hear weird noises coming from the third floor, and then heard the sound of a plastic bag falling down the stairwell in front of me.
It hit the concrete and splattered me with an unknown liquid.
There was no electricity yet in that part of the building, but it was a full moon, so I could see ok.
The noise had stopped by then, and I could not see anything on the floor.
I got my towel out, wiped my face, and went back to sleep.
I figured someone had pranked me by dropping a plastic bag with water in it.
In the morning, I found absolutely no evidence of a plastic bag or spilled water.
I asked one of the local course teachers why the building was being renovated and was told the old boiler heating system had exploded, killing a maintenance worker.
I honestly don't know if something supernatural happened or if my sleep deprived mind imagined it all.
I kept sleeping there for two more nights without any further incidents.

Once upon a time in my teens I was part of a theater group doing a play. During one of the night performances, some of the other actors made up some stupid story about a building across the street. They acted all creepy and dared me to go over there. I scoffed and immediately walked over there. Admittedly my footsteps were somewhat hesitant--I was worried about tripping over some stupid rock I couldn't see, falling in dirt and messing up my costume. I'm not afraid of the dark or the unknown; my deepest fear is the people I think I know. The ways people lie, manipulate, and stab each other in the back in broad daylight scare me more than any BS monster we could ever make up.

Not me but a Chef I know told me a few stories about being a kitchen worker in a hotel.
For contexts, the butcher, baker/pastry and dish washing department are the most haunted place in the night kitchen, cold storage too.
Every single dish washing department worker inculding those that are lazy will make sure that they will finish washing everything before 12 or they are screw. It will be a nightmare for them due to how haunted that department can be since it's wet most of the time.
Pastry department always deal with those the most since they particular need to work at night to prepare all those breads and other stuff for customers.
Butcher is where you don't want to go the most at night since it's where those things like to stay the most due to how much blood and death is in that department.
Story 1: Not the chef, but his apprentice. The apprentice was a tough looking guy and one night he was told to get something from the cold storage by his senior, the apprentice went the the cold storage and not even a minute everyone heard the poor guy shouted in fear as he ran out of the cold storage. Every one of them instantly knew what happened and from that day on the guy didnt dare to go in on his own.
Story 2: The chef personal experience. At that time the chef was working night shift to prepare hotel breakfast. It was around 4 or 5 am, he was preparing the tray of freshly made food when he heard fire opened and frying sound from the station he was in charge of, he turned around to see no one and he instantly knew that something had just visited him in his lonely shift though he claimed that it was fun to work nightshift in the hotel kitchen, but at that moment when it happened, I could only imagined the horror of knowing that something just visited you and was still somewhere in that spot staring at you.
Luckily after the pandemic not many chefs work for nightshift anymore or I can't imagine how they have to deal with it and how strong theor heart needs to be.

We're waiting every night to finally roam and invite
    Newcomers to play with us
For many years, we've been all alone
We're forced to be still and play
The same songs we've known since that day
An impostor took our life away
Now we're stuck here to decay
    [Pre-Chorus]

    We've been all alone
Stuck in our little zone since 1987

Not night shift per say, since this took place in a school. But after school ended and all the students went homes, teachers that were still there grading stuff would hear stuff like instruments playing and lockers closing. The story that went around is that three girls had been on their way to get ice cream after exams finished up and were struck by lightning while they were leaving, and that they had come back to the school for whatever reason
Anyway it’s been closed and demolished for a few years now

    People also ask
Is it illegal to hunt kangaroos?
Ordinarily, it is illegal to kill, buy, sell or possess a kangaroo in Australia. However, in response to the growing kangaroo population, the Australian government permits licence holders to 'cull' or shoot kangaroos. This has resulted in the largest slaughter of land-based wildlife on the planet.

I want to worked at the Aspen gym as a nighttime cleaner. Here’s the problem you did that job yourself. It was a one-man shift and whenever I was there, no problem you felt fine but as soon as the gym closed, everything got real fucking creepy I’ll start with the least creepy and make my way up to the creepiest so first the phones were green and if you answered it nothing no one would say anything I think it was an automatic system but that is still creepy as fuck completely silent Jim minus music that you are allowed to listen to in the phone just rings you pick it up. No one answers, next creepy thing the creaking now buildings creek and you might even have a spot in your house that creeks when you step on it this was different. I don’t really know how to explain it, but it just felt felt different and I would hear footsteps specifically people in boots just walking round. It always came from us specific area. It was always over by the equipment that you’re basically sit on and push-up free weights now whenever I walked up the middle, you know like towards the back of the store it felt like someone was following me in about to stab me in the back. I cannot tell you how many times I fucking turned around to see nothing and you having the feeling immediately disappear like it was never there, now I once swore I heard someone talking in the gym I walk out to the main area nobody not a single damn soul and it’s one time I was in the woman’s locker room cleaning when all of a sudden I hear a big plastic bin being rolled outside and the noise was so randomly specific I could tell you exactly what was being rolled out there you know those big gray garbage bins school janitors will have like this big fucking car that’s always filled with garbage bags. It was that that’s how randomly specific the noise was and here’s the thing it did not have a starting or ending noise. It just started in the middle and then nothing if you don’t know what I mean listen to sounds sometimes I have a starting noise like a car, at first it’s kind of quiet and then it maintains a certain sound and then it has an ending sound. This was not the case for this thing it had the middle part and then nothing else I was so flabbergasted I literally just sat there looking at the emergency door now here’s a second worst thing I had to turn out all the lights before I left, which by itself not that bad combine with everything else. Horrible it was worse because I also had to bring garbage out and the garbage was in the back of the store so I have to turn out the main lights and then go to the back where I put all the garbage bags right next to the back door and then leave. He’s a thing at this point it feels like there’s everything around me. I swear you if you ever got those security cam videos you would see my 6f3in probably about 260 pound ass hole in it you’ve never seen a man move faster in your goddamn life and now here is the absolute worst thing I’ve ever seen at that fucking job, so I’m walking up to the front doing. I don’t know what honestly, I move my head to look at something and crystal clear like the most perfect fucking image appeared in my mind of what I just saw a short very large black man with a buzz cut, wearing a red shirt in blue jeans sitting there, looking at me smiling at me, I looked back damn near, breaking my fucking neck in the sound barrier to see it was a giant red pillar that was outside. I had to sit there a few seconds to realize this image this crystal clear image that I just saw was all in my mind, and I’m telling you this I could perfectly describe that man it was just all so crystal clear

As in so short and see through, she might as well be naked. There were only 2 of them at the store, both male. and she walked up the cashier and nonchalantly bought condoms. They were so startled, that they just went about it normally, as if she wasn't a naked lady buying condoms in the dead of night in 711. We live in an Asian country, so that was crazy. years later and married, he was still bewildered about it when he was telling me the story. And I was like, dude, she was definitely getting off on that. At the time, I also don't know what a kink was. lol
