People who are unhappy with the advice of JYP are the same people who will blame you if you complain about work. Remember when TWICE's Jeonyeon took the hiatus? She literally cried talking about how hard it was for her to cope with anxiety and fatigue. But the Netizens told her to stop whining because she makes money and that other people can't even afford food.🤦♀️🤦♀️
They just feel completely entitled to know. Like, they dgaf if the idols are going through hell, they just want to feel the heroes of the day and cry out loud about how unfair the company is while making no efforts to make a real change.
Nobody gives a damn what the actual idols go through after all. So instead, they made JYP the "bad guy" in this case ( i also don't think that JYP is also the right one in here ).
Honestly sometimes it seems like people's "empathy" is just performative, so they seem like someone who cares. Better to be honest but apathetic then to fake empathy imo
With the lack of empathy Kpop stans have towards idols being human, I understand why JYP said what he said. Just look at how often idols have been dragged through the mud for looking moody or upset because no way can an idol who possesses all human qualities and emotion characteristics act any less than happy and optimistic. For the sake of their image they cannot show any signs of fatigue, distress or unmotivation because that’ll mean that they’re ungrateful. They have to lie and cover up because Kpop stans are too immature to realize that an idol’s worst moments is not just when they’re sad but when they’re sick and tired of something and perhaps angry or not in the right mood. People would know and understand that if they weren’t so brainless and merciless.
I’m so glad you made this video. As soon as I heard he was facing backlash for this I was confused. Being an idol is a job, and just like any other job, you have to separate your personal life from it and not let it affect your performance.
Today I watched a video of Enhypen practicing dance moves for their world tour. Some of them seemed pretty tired. There was this one moment where Jay made a mistake and everyone just started laughing and the atmosphere was so light. Jake said something like it's hard but we did our best. It really made me understand what JYP was trying to say then, like if one of them just got angry at the other person and they showed their tiredness the whole practice session wouldn't go well. We as people find consistency very hard to acheive (I myself struggle through it) and if we are unfocused on one day of work, the next day won't end well too, making you having to continue the cycle with people around you feeling bad too.
I think this issue is also related to a lack of empathy. Have you guys never had a friend who would just spend all day long complaining about random shit? It's NOT fun. And you're not invalidating their feelings if you think that. I had a friend with anger issues that would randomly complain or insult me through the day, and I understood it. And even then, some days it was just too much, it would kill my whole day being called names for absolutely no fucking reason and having to go on with it because I needed to validate their feelings. Sometimes your feelings make people feel bad. And that's normal.
OMG facts. I was that friend complaining all the time and had a wake-up call after a friend told me straight up I was not pleasant to be around. Been changing and maturing.
@@RogueRhiRhi people start knowing you as the person who always complains, and then YOU become the complaint. And again, complaining is FINE, you should complain about things, you can't change anything if you don't. But complaining all day about every single little detail of it tires EVERYONE around you. It's not even asking to pretend to be fine, or to drag yourself up, it's about not dragging others DOWN.
@@Luna-rl5wu YES! It's always "Oh she's here to complain again" or "She only talks about negative stuff" and people just do not want that all the time. I've started to ask if I can 'vent' to friends or if they are not in a good place for me to and if they say yes then I just get whatever off my chest. But if they don't want to hear it then I write it down in a journal, or meditate or smth else to get my mind clear. It's really been better too cause being known as the negative nancy of the group is not fun lol
@@RogueRhiRhi precisely, it's worse for all sides. I'm glad you've been able to turn down on these actions, and yes! Asking to vent is SO nice and respectful. Everything boils down to proper communication, but being able to get it off your system with someone you care is so important, it's why there has to be limits.
@@RogueRhiRhi Thank you for this. I have a roommate who can never let anyone have a worse day than them and you've restored a shred of my faith in humanity.
Problem is that if you ignore the bad feelings for a long period of time or try to mask them, it will end badly. If that is part of your job, you need to have a daily outlet of your negative feelings to balance it out. Unfortunately the schedules of many idols dont leave time for having a good life and work balance. You were talking abt treating being an idol as a job, but I dont think we can completely make that comparasion. Most people clock out, and their personal lives are not on display. That is why making the comparasion to normal work does not fly when talking abt this subject.
As an adult that’s been working in retail since covid started, I agree you have to manage your feelings when it comes to having a job, as a person who is consistently depressed, I will tell you that people will notice and people will comment on it, so learning how to just manage it is important and if you consistently depressed you could also go into therapy or seek help outside of your job since your job is your job not therapy session
Yeah fellow retail worker here and when you are depressed or sad at work it makes people uncomfortable genuinely. Which then makes customers not want to interact or shop, and then the company/store loses sales. We for sure should take mental health seriously but there is reasoning behind leaving home life at home.
Sometimes it baffles me how much common sense we lack as a community. And I end up asking myself if all these people have ever dealt with the real world for just one day. That’s an important conversation to have, bc it’s wild how often fandoms, KPOP stans and tbh I myself genuinely forget that these are people‘s job. If you show up to work, I don‘t think it’s inappropriate for you employer to demand you do your job, that they pay you for. These individuals are performers, so to put on a performances that people wanna watch doesn’t sound crazy to me. If an idol actually feels depressed I‘m sure JYPE has resources in place to help that idol, it should happen behind the scenes and is non of our business. So no him saying to put on a smile even if you have a bad day isn’t too much to ask for, it’s the bare minimum, if your job includes interactions with other people.
I don't know. I think something that complicates the advice he is trying to give is the inevitable invisibility of mental health issues such as depression or anxiety. Without having a clear understanding of whether your struggles are just a bad day or a symptom of one of the aforementioned, this advice though not directected at someone struggling with their mental health reaches them nonetheless. A person with high functioning depression for example would look at this and feel guilty for not being able to "not burden others" and dig deeper into their hole. I feel this is especially important because the kpop idol industry is so young and i dont think that teenagers can clearly tell whats a normal everyday struggle and what is a struggle that is probably a symptom of depression or anxiety. This statement just sort of has the risk of making these struggles more invisible than they already are, even though for mentally healthier people it is a perfectly reasonable advice to give. That doesnt make it bad per se i just think that ideally a short mention of the limitations this advice has would have been nice. At the end of the day i also dont think its that big of a deal though because as you said actions speak louder than words and i do see jype being more or less considerate to those struggling with their mental health.
I think the advice would've been perfect if he said you should suck it up for the work, but give it attention and treat it outside of it, whether it's a bad mood or something persistent.
@@asareireneI mean, considering JYPE's history of overworking their idols, I think people's reaction was valid in a way. There literally was a time when twice was getting 11 comebacks in a year. That's not normal, not even by kpop standards
@@lovelypanda8676 but when do idols really get the time to truly work on their mental health outside of work. And when IS "outside of work"? The idol life is THEIR life...the lines are blurred between personal and professional life. They have to be on for almost 90% of the time, so how can they truly express frustration, sadness, etc....they rarely get to have much of an off day.
Back when you posted the poll, I voted for 'somewhat in the middle'. When i saw the notification and the title of the video I was suprised, but after watching the video it makes total sense to me. Thank you for always explaining your opinion and making us overthink our opinions! ❤ I still feel that jyp has to be careful in which situation the advice is used, you need to be able to tell if it's a bad day or if the person is going through something or if there's an actual problem that won't be solved by a bit of sleep and chocolate. And in my opinion, people on social media like to cry about their problems because they get attention and... a weird mix of pity and admiration? It feels like they use their problems as a way to get an extra treatment, go tell those things your therapist, that's someone who could actually help you
I voted on "somewhat in the middle" because of how important the way it is said is. People need to take time to properly feel sadness. Even though crying is an important part to find a solution to what upsets you, as it makes you feel somewhat relieved, your problems are your own. If you are having a bad day it is up to you to deal with it. And yes, someone can call you out for not acting properly when you are blue. Also, yes, this reminded me of a certain case Cheryl talked about
I think that there is a time and place to truly feel your sadness. Crying or displaying a lot of your sadness during your work is prob not the best idea tbh especially as kpop idol where fans are always so fixated on every microscopic action/facial expression a kpop idol does/makes. Sometimes you gotta set your problems aside so that the team can move forward and that work can get done. Should you bottle up your feelings? Absolutely not, but there is a time, place and most imprtantly a certain group of people you cry in front of and let yourself be truly sad
I do agree with you, I remember saying that despite this advice being harsh it is a real advice We are not asking people to work to the point their depression gets the best of them, we ask them to do their job and deal with their emotions As much as JYP is not the best at least his company gives some hiatuses to its idols contrary to a lot of other companies
Yeah, i caught on to what you meant as soon as i heard what he said. I've been outright scolded at work for coming into the store and being very obviously upset for literal weeks while i was going through a tough time. I didnt realize my feelings were... well, yeah, upsetting other people and making them uncomfortable, but also just really obvious and coming across as unapproachable. I learned how to check my emotions back then. My manager hadnt told me to not feel them or ignore them, just dont show them to other people while i was at work, manage them privately, and talk to her if i needed to. So no, I never thought JYP was wrong for what he said, especially since his company seems to easily give their idols mental health breaks when they need it. There's a difference between "dont let them see you upset" and "your emotions are a figment of your imagination."
i agree with you and jyp - it is getting too much. either people are functionally illiterate. OR. people are genuinely encouraging behaviors to prolong mental anguish and this is coming from someone that just finished 6 months of mental health treatment. unhealthy repression isn't good - but purposefully engaging in low thoughts when there's work ahead literally will lead to suffering
i do think sometimes it's easy for us to forget the dynamic, as so many idols play into the parasocial relationship, hence the insane defensive nature some fandoms have towards their idols. you're absolutely right, it is a job, an incredibly demanding one at that, so it's no wonder many leave for breaks often. i think especially new fans see that and feel bad, so it comes naturally to leave well-meaning comments like you would to a friend, maybe even question their management. but, it can also get incredibly annoying for the idol to have fans constantly telling them to take care of themselves (the infamous clip of stays telling chan to sleep being a prime example). i think in chill fandoms like melodies and moomoos this behavior is acceptable, as both artist and fandom are aware of boundaries and respect them, but some can take it way too far and start attacking the management or even other idols without realizing they themselves are a part of the problem. regarding the softness and spoil of this generation however, i have to say i disagree a little bit. i believe there is a lot of work to be done in every industry to improve mental health and disability accommodations, but we can sometimes be a bit too demanding and forward in our search for equity and equal opportunity. we tend to focus on small, polarizing topics instead of looking at the big picture and trying to resolve pressing issues first. this attack on jyp fits perfectly, as we immediately picked a scapegoat to blame for lia's hiatus instead of discussing why industry leaders tend to overwork their idols, sometimes to the point of injury, and what we as fans can do to combat that.
I seriously need to learn to keep my bias in check. Anytime someone says something bad about JYP (person), I’m willing to just take it at face value because of all the terrible things he’s done over the years. So, I didn’t think to look for the greater context around JYP’s statement. Also, as someone who’s Autistic, my therapist is always chewing me out whenever I expect the world to conform and make life more bearable for me. Whenever something happens like my boss doesn’t explicitly tell me something and gets mad because I didn’t assume it or if my parents don’t put their dishes in the dishwasher, my therapist has to remind me that I can’t always be getting mad because things didn’t work out how I want them to and nobody’s accommodating me. And honestly, that’s made me have to learn to advocate for myself. I have to initiate conversations I don’t want to. I have to ask a billion follow up questions to make sure I do things properly. I have to physically put in my calendar when I schedule time to do something and give myself plenty of reminders so I won’t forget. Yes, I would always just love for everything to work in a way that makes logical sense and with everyone having the same thought process as I do. But it won’t. And it sucks. But that’s life. And it’s going to be harder for us that aren’t neuro-typical. And there will be misunderstandings. And people will take advantage of us. And it won’t be fair. But we just have to keep working towards adapting ourselves. I deal with anxiety and depression every day. I go into work and plaster a smile on my face and wait until I get home to bawl my eyes out over how tough everything is. But now looking at the greater picture of what JYP was saying, yes, you can’t be coming in every day and making your problems everyone else’s. I originally thought he meant just suppress your feelings all the time. And yes, you can vent out your grievances and frustrations with the world here and there. But if you’re always coming into work with a miserable mood and it affects your productivity, you’re going to be given the boot. So yeah, I really need a lot of people to understand that the world not always accommodating you isn’t some ableist plot to keep us out of the workplace. It’s because jobs have requirements. If we can’t meet them, someone else will. For a more obvious example, let’s say you’re hiring for a moving company and need someone who can lift up heavy furniture. Do you hire the guy in his 20s/30s that works out every day or the person that has limited mobility? Find jobs that cater to your strengths or have the flexibility to do so. The entertainment industry is very go-go-go. You have to be ahead of the trends. A lack of punctuality isn’t going to cut it. I’m sorry for ranting so much (not really) and I’m sorry for sounding so harsh (that I actually am sorry for). But if I need to hear the truth every time I complain to my therapist, everyone else does. We can’t expect the *entire (not enter lol) world to accommodate our every need. Especially without any effort on our part to meet them halfway. Stay strong out there. Push yourself. Adapt. Become a better version of yourself. And always think outside of the box.
1st; never apologize for ranting, I love reading your rants. 2nd, I am so proud of you for being open to hearing a different side, especially when it has to do with something so close to home in regards to your mental health. 3rd; I love you! 💙
"Terrible things" he's done over the years weren't even done by him as he hasn't been a CEO for over a decade. He's bit weird at times, but people like to blame him for things that he didn't do such as creating Momo's famous ice diet, making Tzuyu's film the apology even though her parents decided it was best for her career and reputation to do so, "overworking" artists even though JYPE has separate labels that manage artists and even though some of them said they're fine with working as much as they do and they want to work as much as they do, "mistreating" male idols even though plenty of them are still in contact with JYP as individual and speak well about the company, banning Jini from promotion and such things.
@@AB-yk2pqI’m not just talking about those things. While still a problem, the company’s had a long standing history of overworking idols, suppressing creative freedom, and s*xualizing minors. He may not have presided over the company at all times. But he was still involved in setting a precedent. And as the CEO since 2011, he’s at least had some input in at least the approval of decisions many have found to be problematic. While I do agree that “terrible” may be too harsh of a word, he’s not an oblivious bystander in all of this.
I don’t have ADHD or Autism. But my brother has really bad depression and it gets in the way of him doing his work. Whenever I ask about it, he says “Just because it feels like my life is at a dead end, doesn’t mean everyone else’s has stopped”. I totally feel bad for those struggling. But some industries are more time sensitive than others. And the more people you work with, the more imperative it is to be punctual. I guess the only thing to do then is find a method/system to combat your shortcomings or find another career path. Idk. I feel bad. But like what can you do? Not everyone has Normani’s flexibility to announce an album and still not put it out five years later.
i think you forget that adhd and autism count as disabilities and asking for accommodations for symptoms you experience because of them shouldn't necessarily be used as an example of how this generation is weak imo
These people need to learn the difference between a bad day and depression. I struggle with wanting to off myself. Having a bad day is NOT the same thing. I can be angry without wanting to k- myself. People are allowed to have bad days, everyone has them, but if one member had to miss an interview when their clothes got caught on a door handle, then we'd never have full group interviews, ever. You can have a bad day, but vent about it outside your job.
I so agree with my generation romatacising to just caring about only their feelings and prioritising themselves alone… and by that i do not mean to neglect oneselves 😑 JYP as you pointed out said that in terms of IDOL being a job and not just random people loving to sing and dance on stage! He is a business man so obviously he prioritises company gains more often than his idols feelings. The job of an idol by nature is not easy specially when it demands so much of an idols time and life as a part of heir career. They tend to have tight and jammed schedules and constant pressure with their peer completion not only from their generation but also the newer generation. If they want to be well renowned and successful they must put as much music so as to be seen and heard by the K-pop audience as often as possible to set their name in the community. Again as you pointed out JYP is no saint nor is any K-pop company but if they can deliver their idols becoming top tier acts it speaks for the companies strategy in itself! This is the same with HYBE as well.
i dont really think its specific to our generation. older people honestly act just as entitled and then turn around and act like gen z invented being selfish so dont let them off the hook for this.
Sorry but the ADA and laws like it (or being pushed for) is there for a reason, accommodating disabilities is not weak or entitled, it’s accessibility. People used to use the same rhetoric about those w/ physical disabilities. (And lowkey still do which is a shame) If the accommodation can be made reasonably, which many can to allow for more time, then why not allow someone that?
I´m very conflicted in this topic because on one hand, i understand what he means and agree with him because i have a customer service job and sometimes have to fake when I`m sad (like you said in the video) but on the other hand, this advice doesn`t work for everybody and not for people with mental health problems and it also sucks that a person like JYP who has so many idols with mental health problems under him saying stuff like that. I personally often need to go to work when i don`t feel well because working distracts me from my problems but of course, that always doesn`t work. For example, when my boyfriend broke up with me in March, I didn`t go to work the next day because i barely slept, looked like a zombie because of all the crying and I knew i didn`t have the strength to smile. I don`t regret that i didn`t go to work. I guess i needed that day to calm down a little. For me personally, most of the time it`s better to go to work but of course not everyone is like me and some people can`t do it. So i guess it really depends on the person. I kinda agree with him but still in my opinion he should start reflecting himself why he has the most idols with mental health problems under his umbrella (I hope umbrella is the correct word here. Sorry if not). And I`m really not sure if he`s in the position to talk about mental health.
I NEVER THOUGHT YOU WOULD TALK ABT THIS YOU AND REBAL D TALKED ABT THIS Both my faves But yeah “time blindness” I have RAGING adhd but I don’t make it everyone else’s issue. If I struggle with time I will set multiple alarms, keep a clock with me, check the time every few minutes. It’s not everyone else’s responsibility to run around my schedule🤦♀️🤦♀️
The only reason I don't agree is because of what industry this is. If it were a normal job I would get it since you get to shut off and be you at 5pm, but this role as a ''Idol'' is one they do 24/7 because they are a public figure. So they have to work overtime and while it's a job it can become to the point where a person wouldn't be able to differentiate themselves from a character or persona they have to be professional in a job. It's less about being prepared and doing the job, but more on being held to high standards on how you act 24/7. JYP's idea to just cover your true emotions to not make everyone down isn't substantial in the long run, but it will get the work done. Why, because it eventually leads to mental break downs and feeling like you aren't living. Jihyo said in a TWICE video that she felt like she hasn't lived in the 8 years of being a 'idol', and many of his artists sadly have anxiety. I feel there needs to be a better balance, but I get that he didn't mean bad. It's just his idea doesn't work well in the long run as k pop artists constantly need to be ON/perfect and don't ever get to shut off around people. GOT7 Jackson even said he couldn't be himself anymore as he constantly was acting like a source for other people on the job that he had a breakdown. And even when you see him now as he's recovered he still doesn't look fully okay. I think that if the standards to be perfect/a character wasn't there in k pop the idea of JYP's would work better.
Thank you for understanding. I thought many wouldn't agree but I am glad you did. Normal jobs are nowhere as hard or the same as celebs'/ k pop artists. The standards alone are tough to bare. @@rachelwanda2797
This is such a great video! I had this conversation with a friend of mine a few days ago and we were talking about regardless of our negative/positive opinions related to JYP, he is highly respected in the industry and i guess that speaks of his way of working. So fair play
Idk the person in that Tik Tok video's intentions, but asking an employer to not be super strict on timing when you are Neurodivergent and struggle with time blindness isn't expecting the whole world to bend over backwards for you, it's ask 1 company to be less strict about 1 thing because you struggle with it and can't help it. I do agree with the rest of the video, I just wanted to make sure people are aware of that
Yeah but if you're late everyday then you're not doing as much work as someone who is on time everyday. It would be unfair for you both to be paid the same if you're doing less for the same position. I understand your sentiment and it's okay to be late on the occasion, however you can make accommodations for yourself. Set an alarm to wake yourself up, one to eat breakfast, one to brush your teeth, one to get dressed and then one to leave to work. if you follow them all, you'll be helping yourself to meet requirements for your role, and time blindness will be less of an issue. I don't think you're asking the world to bend over for you to help with something you struggle, but not everyone can sacrifice their time to help you. But, if you're making up work that you missed then I guess that that is a little different and better, but it is still impractical.
i halfly disagree with his statement and your whole point... let's just get to where i do not agree, health, whether it be physical or mental always comes first, before your job and surely before someone else's business, of course as you said a bad day will is not the same as having chronic depression but you know what? it may turns into if you always hide your feelings and never get your things out, with how messed up this industry is i do hope they have therapy sessions even though they don't have a diagnosed problem... then again, business should never be an excuse for you to hide your feelings, having a bad day? suck it up, get a day off, you're getting that money anyway, actually try to relax and get better in a way or another, believe me getting a day off (while trying to actually help yourself) is way more helpful than just faking a smile or cracking a joke trying to lighten up the mood... it's not gonna last, you're gonna be sad again but now i'm thinking, if people discover you faked a smile they'll hate you because you're fake, if you look sad then they'll hate you for not putting on a fake smile, if you take a break or go on hiatus they'll think it's your ceo fault or they'll spread false and senseless rumors, they really got no choice... this just makes you realized how fucked up this industry is, and let's not even compare it to other jobs, it's stupid when you know the huge differences and again business (or capitalism 🤨) shouldn't be an excuse for you to always act like everything is fine when it clearly isn't... and honestly i don't even know why i started this huge ass paragraph saying i halfly disagree, hell no i totally disagree, your job (or other people's feelings too, he talked about not wanting them to make other feel sad) never comes first, it doesn't matter the amount of money or that stupid ass contract you made your parents sign because you were a minor that is definitely horrible advice, nothing can't change my mind
It's okay you're not an idol, you can be sad at work and complain to your coworkers if you want. Though keep in mind there are safter places to process your emotions.
There's reason JYP has been doing a lot of Survival shows, and it is to humanize him. People forget that he has to make money, and the idols depend on him to make money, so they can make money. When people trash JYP, you know who it really hurts, THEIR IDOLS they think they have a para-social relationship with. Based take on the subject. A difference from all the other kpop gossip opinion sites, that know nothing about the world.
Incoming Essay: I don’t know. I feel like this topic is even more gray than the viewpoint you’ve portrayed in this video. Even among the people who agree with you and are trying to find some middle ground, it feels like the main issue is flying over everyone’s heads. Honestly, I have no idea what it means to take out your emotions on others besides in the context of expressions of anger, such as a tone of frustration. This idea of subjecting others to your sadness though is completely foreign to me, and I need to check in with my own therapist on what this would mean if it means anything at all. I’ve been taught that no one “makes” you “feel” anything ultimately, and it’s your job to regulate your own emotions when others are upset. I imagine “not killing the mood” is pretty important in the fast-paced idol industry, so I wonder how all these concepts relate to JYP’s statement. On the topic of accommodations though, I think everyone is forgetting that *all* sides can advocate for themselves. This weird idea that asking for needs = entitlement or believing “the world revolves around so-and-so” really needs to stop. These judgments really only apply when someone throws a fit when things don’t go their way, especially when without an argument that is compelling enough. In all aspects of life, there are people who need accommodations who can run circles around those who don’t as long as their requirements are getting met. Sacrificing the potential betterment of a career field just because a lack of sympathy causes people to believe that struggles are mostly a result of laziness and selfishness would be pure ignorance. With all that being said, most of this goes completely out the window when talking about Kpop. The Korean music entertainment industry does not survive on the existence of any sort of talent-based standard for their idols, meaning that everyone in theory is replaceable. This is by definition of the industry itself. There are people that need to be paid, and not a single individual is holding up a company all on their own other than like Soyeon of Gidle for Cube 💀. In that sense, I totally understand JYP’s advice. It’s very much “girl, I get it, and we can try and do what we can to help since we’ve already invested in you, but otherwise we gotta get going.” It’s only reasonable because we’re very specifically talking about the idol industry where nearly anyone with a pretty face can be a star. It sucks, but this is quite literally how the appeal of Kpop is kept up. The industry shouldn’t be this way, but it is at its core. Summary: This topic in itself is so nuanced and everyone is 100% missing the middle ground, including Cheryl imo. However, I think JYP’s advice works *specifically* in the context of the Korean idol industry where it’s never been about the individual or their unique talent, but all about the brand image. Of all the career fields in the world, this one is the DEFINITION of “if you can’t get with the program, we really gotta leave you behind.” I think even other entertainment sectors are not as brutal as KPOP, and it’s because the standard for an idol is honestly BOTH inconsistent and nonexistent (somehow) across the board. It’s a bummer, but JYP is being realistic.
As someone with ADHD and time blindness, I have to disagree with you on that comment about that situation. The interviewer should not have yelled at them or have said that. Having ADHD f cking sucks. Its a disability, and time blindness is a symptom of it. And it isnt that Im ladida-ing my way through life, I genuinely just perceived time on a warped scale. I understand that many jobs cannot accommodate this, like emergency service work. But there is NOTHING wrong with asking for accommodations for when you're trying your best and end up 5 minutes late. In office jobs, just staying over time to make up those 5 minutes would be the accommodation. And its completely okay to be upset that someone yelled at you for *asking* for disability compensation. I dont think its weak or entitled to be upset by that on Tiktok. Saying that there needs to be big changes, though, well, like I said, there will always be jobs that are not feasible for certain people. Its probably unrealistic to expect to be able to be an ER nurse with time blindness. So I dont agree with that person there, that does come of as entitled and unrealistic. Yet, my main gripe is, there is nothing weak or entitled about ASKING IF a job can accommodate your disability
ngl this one missed for me! especially the “this generation is x” and “we’re so y” never been a fan of sayings like that nor of the “actually work and then talk” or “get a job and work for a living” bc working for a living is inherently disabling, inherently undermining of personhood, inherently a flawed system. so. imo kinda not a good take i dont usually comment when i disagree bc its literally just kpop and i disagree w a lot of things but that doesnt necessarily mean its wrong or bad, but this one was particularly a difficult take to stomach as we watch some of the biggest capitalist empires fall to fascism before our eyes, just for you to kinda… support capitalism lol once again, my opinion. i dont expect cheryl to flay me for this one but some people in the comments might so remember that this is an open forum and not an echo chamber 👍🏾
True! She sounded a lot like an American conservative to me. This whole “my generation had to work xyz amount of hours everyday and we never complained” kind of BS. It’s a very toxic mindset and it shouldn’t be encouraged. Also what is she talking about at the end of the video? “People supporting Osama bin Laden”?? Am I missing something?
Human beings aren't built to work and live under a system like capitalism, so it shouldn't be shameful or bad to ask for our lives to be a little more tolerable ♡
This is a very interesting point you're making. I, myself, am both chronically ill and diagnosed with an anxiety disorder, ptsd, and autism. I wish the way the world works was catered more towards chronically ill and disabled folks, and especially when you're young, no one believes you're "sick" when you look healthy from the outside. However, I don't complain about this a lot, especially not to my healthy friends. Sometimes, I discuss these issues with my mom and my friend from uni who's also chronically ill. Being able to understand and relate to each other's struggles, rant about it, and support each other feels good but we are also fully aware of the fact that we have many responsibilities both within the university as well as just in life in general and we have to make it work and get our shit done no matter how bad we're doing. Is it unfair? In my opinion, yes. But that's how the world works and we have to struggle through it as best as possible. Constant complaining is a bit of a pet peeve of mine, especially if people complain about "small" things like homework or so (in quotes because what's a small or a big thing is different to everyone, however, to me this is a small thing) and I've also had my fair share of experiences with negative people who only complain and see the bad in everything. It just drags you down a lot as their friend and I had to remove myself from people like that since their energy started making me feel depressed. While I can understand that some people are naturally more positive/optimistic while others are negative/pessimistic... I just feel like we also need to be considerate of the people around us (I saw someone in the comments saying they now ask their friends if they can vent and only proceed to do so when the friend says "yes" - this is amazing in my opinion because you are considering the other person's state/feelings and want to make sure they are in a place of being able to listen to you before you start venting). I struggle with being positive too and unfortunately, I'm more of a glass-half-empty person but if you ask my friends, they'll describe me as a positive and an optimistic person because I don't show them how much I struggle on the inside. I always make sure to keep my feelings in check and try to provide a positive environment for others to be in and put on a smile, even if I am in debilitating pain from my illness and would like to cry instead. But I know that no one wants to be around someone who is doing bad most of the time, even though I'm not at fault for my illness either but I prefer to deal with my issues by myself *and* in therapy so that I don't dump stuff on my friends... because tbh, there is nothing they could do to help me, so my thoughts go "why bother them in the first place?" (Ofc I'm aware that things are different for people who don't have access to therapy, so I'm only speaking about my personal case here) TL;DR: Life is unfair, yet we still have to make it work as best as we can. Friends supporting each other is a great thing but you also need to be considerate of the people around you and not dump stuff on them all the time and/or without prior warning.
the funny thing is that these fans are the same ones who would bash idols for not performing well on stage or get impatient when an idol takes a hiatus for too long. i already see a lot of midzys complaining about lia"s absence like.. do y'all want her to be healthy or not? make up your mind.
The main problem I have with JYP's advice is it cultivates an atmosphere of ignorance and resentment. Not just idols but everyone in a work environment should remain professional, however having this "suck it up" attitude while working can CAUSE mental health decline and strife between co-workers. Cheryl mentions workers in customer service and healthcare as an example of having to maintain repressed emotions for the sake of others to continue keeping the job moving. Yes, people in those jobs do this, however (including myself) if you've ever spoken to anyone who has worked in those jobs a lot of them will tell you this emotional repression has caused them burnout during their time working and made them feel objectified. It is often the unfair dynamic of "everyone around me can treat me however they like but I am not allowed to be upset and must treat everyone else kindly." That is not okay. When working in the medical field it is slightly different due to the vulnerable health of patients, however in other service jobs not only is this sentiment unbalanced but very harmful to the well-being of employees. My issue as a whole is that our world does not treat each other with care or as if we are human beings but as a means to get things from. This breeds selfishness, hostility, perfectionism, and apathy towards yourself and others. IT IS NOT SUSTAINABLE. Not appreciating or thanking the people around you and treating people like they are wrong for not speaking to them with a cheerful smile on their face will only cause those people to feel like their personhood doesn't matter and that will reflect in their work. No one wants to give quality work where they aren't cared for and appreciated. Many times I've seen workers actually INTENTIONALLY do mediocre and bad work out of spite because of fake appreciation. Forced amiability and then deceitfully mistreating employees for the sake of money or another material value will make people do things they wouldn't otherwise. Not acknowledging that a majority of humans live their lives based on their emotions/internal world is naive. Hell wars have started due to a person in power's feelings about things. I often think of France as an example of how intriguing their work environments are. That country has been able to cultivate a place of brutal honesty yet somehow everyone has not taken personal offense. A large majority of people are not able to separate other people's feelings from their own which is probably why people aren't able to be open and honest with each other and resign to being covertly spiteful (not saying France doesn't have its own issues with work discrimination, employee mismanagement, and power dynamics) Being able to express negativity in the workplace without personalizing is important because that's where humanity and growth can be shown. Addressing negativity is an important preventative measure to ensure everyone's safety and boundaries are being respected. Negativity is not bad. However, it should not be all-consuming. This individualistic mindset is killing the connection between people. Obviously, professionalism is important but you can express negative emotions while still being professional. There is a balance. We should all do our jobs but we also should be looking out for one another.
Damn that well said, and i think i agree with u more than the TH-camr. I have no valuable input because i work from home, but your response still makes a lot more sense.
Tbh I'm tired of people saying "treat idols like humans" not realizing that they are not the target audience you are not buying 100 albums because you think there might be a chance that your idol will date you would buy 1 album or maybe even 5 but that still is not enough for idols to be treated like humans focus on yourself first and make sure you are not the one hating on an idol for not doing something "correctly" or saying something you dont like
What is meant by "treat idols like humans" is simple. Treat them as you would like to be treated. And if you're not interested in their music, then move on. There's plenty of other music out there for people to enjoy. It's not that hard to understand.
@@TomsMusicCorner and I dont contradict that it's just that it wont happen because well kpops target audience doesnt care about music for sure the one that cares about music wont spend thousands of dollars on albums because they just enjoy their music kpops biggest moneymaker is delusional fans who think they can date their idols and btw most people saying "treat idols like humans" themselves dont treat idols like humans and give them scrutiny for doing relatively harmless things they dont like it's not that hard to understand idols will not be treated like human beings unless you want to buy stray kids new album 100 times, mass vote with vpns on music shows/awars shows and mass stream their songs on multiple because you "like their music"
@@human-wz4fb "kpops target audience doesnt care about music for sure the one that cares about music wont spend thousands of dollars on albums because they just enjoy their music kpops biggest moneymaker is delusional fans who think they can date their idols" and I don't contradict this ;) The thing is, we may think normally here and not demand impossible things from our idols, but the horde of delulus is just too big. You can't compete with that. Luckily we have Cheryl to give us moral support ;)
Calling someone weak for having ADHD is lame. Don’t get me wrong the creator in question is in the wrong, I just think there needs to be compromise from both sides. Because ADHD and other disorders can be seriously debilitating, isolating these people and not offering proper support is a dangerous path (it breeds divides and even more mental illness). But yes, people with conditions do need to find a way to do their job properly. It’s a balancing act, they need resources and support. But they also need to put in the effort. Anyway, just thought that was phrased a little odd.
most def but i definetly think she doesnt know enough about it but otherwise its true. I also have adhd and autism and never could hold or keep a job bc i had no idea that was what was causing me to go insane after a while and when i got diagnosed and trying to go back now i need accomedations and tools to help me regulate myself (meds too if need be) in order for me to go back to work so i dont think companies are obligated to cater to me now since we live in a very ableist world so i have to manage my expectations accomadate for me to be the most effective and best worker i can be despite my limitations
Not defending calling ppl with adhd weak, but the girl in the video was saying that expecting people to accomodate for you was weak and not that having adhd makes you weak
@@mouche563that’s still extremely ableist though. Imagine if she said the same thing about a person in a wheel chair wanting accommodations for their mobility. Just because a disability is invisible to you does not mean that it’s not extremely debilitating and there are a lot of simple accommodations that can be made to allow people with all sorts of disabilities to preform at the same level as non disabled people
@@siennahartle9069Also a person with ADHD and sibling of person with a physical disability- Being in a wheelchair and needing accommodations for a physical debilitation is not the same as having “time blindness” and whining about workplaces needing major change. I have a job that requires deadlines to be met and major tasks to be remembered. If these tasks aren’t remembered and completed, it will impact the team and the business, especially because I work for a small business. I have time blindness and time management issues, but I do not expect full-on reform in the workplace to accommodate a loss of time for my bad habits. If you are constantly struggling with making deadlines and properly managing your time at work, look at yourself and your habits rather than blaming your company for not accommodating to your lack of understanding of time. Does it suck sometimes? Yes. Does the workplace need reform? Absolutely. But in the workplace one must pull up the bootstraps and work hard AND smart to improve themselves, their habits, and increase overall company performance.
Well said. I think I partially misunderstood him. As in mixing how to deal with depression versus conducting yourself in a job environment. Even though his advice is very valid (my mom has mentioned things along a similar line) it still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth that it’s necessary to do this both in idol life and in general. But it’s necessary for the world to function.
I agree and disagree to an certain extent. Saying that someone’s struggle is just another “bad day” shows ignorance. Yes it’s true that we all go through things but everyone deals with things differently.. For JYP to say his opinion but years back he mentions how he treats everyone in his company like family is him contradicting himself. I feel like since he’s older than a lot of the idols he works with he doesn’t want to deal with their emotions and mental health issues. It could be another way for him to show that he doesn’t actually care about the people he works with. Now, let’s go into a work place! We don’t know the people that we work with. Everyone that comes in and out of the workplace don’t know you and for some to say “they are ruining the mood” is somewhat an entitled statement. The saying “Keep your problems at home” just helps people from bringing drama into a work place. Yes, every work place should be professional but we can’t forget how those work places also give vacation time, mental health time, request time off, personal time off, etc. A lot of people that you work with don’t owe a thing and are just coworkers. When it comes to working at a work place of course keep outside issues out. I see a lot of comments having mixed reviews on the matter but one comment stood out to me and made great points on why they disagree. One point I want to mention is how holding in all of these issues and emotions can cause someone to explode. Everyone handles their problems differently, some are good at going to work and acting like nothing happened while others are having a more difficult time putting their feelings aside. Someone can not just turn off their mental health issue, that’s not how life works. For JYP to sit there and say what he said proves that the only thing he cares about is in fact money. In South Korea they do not take mental health serious so I wasn’t surprised by what JYP said. They are taught to cover up any mental health issues and put it in a box. They are also taught to “suck it up” when in reality that’s not a good mindset to have when someone is facing some hardships. Anyways, JYP could care less if an idol is going through things because he doesn’t really know any of them personally. At the end of the day JYP is a businessman and owns a company. It’s just like when we go get a job, none of the managers and employees give af about anyone. JYP is known to overwork idols that are under him. He has the highest turnover rate of idols leaving his company. Idols do not get the chance to take time off or to just take a break. Even when they take a hiatus they are by themselves facing their problems alone where as most of us live with our parents, friends, boyfriends, etc. A lot of idols face things and mental health by themselves and that’s what some people don’t get. All to say JYP is entitled to his opinion though.
I am sorry, but could you explain your work example in another way? At best the part that the work place gives you time off, sick days etc. Cause like isn't that normal? And also if a doctor writes you sick it is none of your coworkers and boss business ? I do not really get what you mean.
I appreciate your content, but I object to your portrayal of time-blindness accommodations. ADHD is a disability, one that includes symptoms such as time-blindness. As a person with ADHD I work very hard to overcome these symptoms. I put in place systems, etc. I do well in my work, but I still need accommodations. In school for example, I would use extra time on tests. That wasn’t out of laziness or entitlement. It was because my brain is wired differently and I needed that extra time in order to demonstrate my knowledge on an assessment that was created for neurotypical brains. Yes, I have a responsibility to manage myself, and make sure I get places on time. I absolutely agree that ADHD is not an excuse to be unprofessional. But it is a disability that in my country, must be accommodated under the law. I am not lazy. I am not asking for someone to bend over backwards for me. I’m asking for common decency and grace on account of a diagnosed neurodevelopmental disorder. Again, I appreciate your content, and I agree with the rest of your video. But, people asking to be treated equitably is not the same as this generation being unbearably entitled. Thanks
The epitome of what JYP said has to be Sana. You know she's a human being and isn't a ray of sunshine 24/7 internally, but she's the person people look to when they want pure joy. Her job is literally to make people happy, and out of all the idols out there, she gets that possibly the most. She's so good at this that even her members say she's very positive on and off camera. Perhaps this comes more easy for her than others, but it can't hurt to ignore the small stuff bothering you and to just think positive. If you make your life be more about the good over the bads, even if you're faking it, your day won't feel so bad. AND being around an easy going person is a lot less stressful that one sad or pissed off all the time. People love Sana and seeing her happy makes us happy. She makes us feel better with just a laugh or a smile. That's her positivity working and I have to think her skill as a performer as well.
People legitimately hate JYP too much. Sure, he’s a bit… Interesting, sometimes, but I believe he is one of the major reasons, if not the biggest one, why all of his groups have come so far. Plus, he lets his idols have more or less healthy diets, minus the Momo incident.
As much as Im aware of, the Momo incident was caused by a staff making a ''joke'' and when JYP found out he immediatly fired that staff. ofc take with a grain of salt since I saw no evidence, but it looks quite realistic to JYP behave that way (in firing the staff that made it) IMHO
Also the mood seem lighter in JYP, idols are always seen disrecpecting him and make fun of him without problem, he clearly know when to be serious or not
I respect your opinion i just completely disagree with the opinion about our generation. We are leaving in an age that we were forced to grow up extremely faster because of the internet and thw chages in the world and i know many people that have succeeded a lot already even though they are young. I dont personally see anything bad with demanding chage in the work and make it easier for everyone to leave in . I dont disagree wiith the part about professionalism tho you are correct (and jypapi lol) but lets remember many people funs of kpop are kids and they will always say their opinions because of the internet. Love your vids ❤
Your opinion about the person who has adhd which is a mental disability asking if there's accommodation for time blindness and calling them and the generation as a whole entitled for asking help is abelist as hell and very harmful. As someone who has adhd even basic tasks are difficult to get through and has brought me lots of stress and anxiety and after many years of not getting that extra help i needed and just being called lazy , spoil or in this case "intitaled" it even led me down to having depression . Im not trying to send hate or anything I just want you to understand and do your research
This conversation is so old, sure adhd makes you late to work, but its up to you as a grown employed adult to find a working solution. whether its to set alarm, set another alarm just in case, or set yet anothet alarm just in case. You cannot expect the world to coddle you, this applies to childhood trauma as well. Yes your trauma may make you a terrible partner to your spouse but its up to you to find a working solution like putting in effort to communicate.
Now, complaining about people for not tolerating your lateness is indeed entitled. Adhd people are not exempted from corporate rules (of course, if you wanted to keep said corporate job). Play the rule and you get paid
Being late is just rude. If you have an appointment you need to be on time. And if you have a problem with that you work around it. If you have an doctor appointment and you are late, you can not use your ADHS as an excuse to be late. The doctor would not look after you, and just say that you need another appointment. Or of you work and have an appointment somewhere else, you also can not be late. And let's not start about the cultures who value beeing on time.
Gen Z here. Yeah, we suck. But honestly, I feel bad for Gen Alpha because they are SCREWED. They cannot read, and they do not behave at all. I recently saw a TikTok where this girl was venting about her day at work-some millennial mom came in with her toddler, and the toddler spilled all the business cards on the floor. Instead of apologizing to the worker, picking up the cards, disciplining her child, she laughed it off. If I pulled that as a kid, my mother would’ve smacked my ass. I had a babysitting job when I first started school, and the family’s 6-year-old son was dropping f-bombs and screaming bloody murder if he didn’t get to play video games, despite knowing that he was not allowed screen time when I was there. I also honestly felt really offended by the time blindness TikTok. I have ADHD and time blindness is a thing for me. Lots of people do. But part of having a mental disability like ADHD is learning how to work WITH it, not around it. To deal with time blindness, I use my handy-dandy smartphone-I set alarms and timers for myself. Setting an alarm or a reminder isn’t rocket science.
As a gen Z we r treating gen alpha the same way as we were treated and we need to give this generation time before judging because trust me not all ppl of the same gen are the same. Even the so called gen Z that everyone hates, not every gen Z is like that i think that applies to alpha too....
I have Autism and ADHD (as well as anxiety and depression). I work in retail and have worked in food service among other things. Whenever I go to work I leave my problems at home. Bringing problems from home to work genuinely just overwhelms me when I am trying to focus on my job. It's also why I leave work problems at work and if I am stressed I wait until I am home and have a good cry or a self-care night. In most jobs, if you look sad or angry or depressed people will be uncomfortable or avoid you which can cost the company/brand/store you work for sales or customer retention. If I have to be upset at work I go to the back, cry a bit or take some deep breaths and continue. I cannot imagine being an idol of course but being an idol is a job just the same. Mental health is important to everyone and all jobs, and should be sought out, however having a bad day is something that can be worked past and should be dealt with professionally in the workplace. I am also currently studying to be an esthetician and we have a whole class dedicated to professionalism. It covered everything that I have known for years with in depth information. Especially since estheticians are always in the customer service sector and will always aim to please.
@emeleon12 I try to avoid masking as much as possible because it leads to day long, sometimes even multiple days long meltdowns and I get aggressive when I have meltdowns which is not good. But the best thing I do is just go have a quick 2-5 minute breather in the back room or washroom. Thankfully my manager is aware I am AuDHD and understands when I need to just breathe which helps me get my work done and be a professional employee. In my opinion there is a job for everyone somewhere. I didn't like fast food because it was making me mask a lot and was a huge stressor. I've worked in over 5-7 different job fields (childcare, retail, fast food, labor, etc) and just have to find the area that works best for me which is retail surprisingly. Being in retail also helps me with my social skills and will help me develop necessary soft skills for when I become an Esthetician. I hope you find something you enjoy doing for work! Even if it takes some time it's worth it I promise. Bad days happen for sure but working, making money and being in a professional setting is really fulfilling
Paused the video to go vote. Thank you for the reminder at the beginning and the extension! I missed your last upload/announcement and I’m so glad I caught it in time :)
When Ktube needed her the most she returned. And i just hoping that Lia is living her best life and having a good recovery. I wouldn't like for her to overpush just for the sake that is her job
There is a different between a bad day and moderate-severe anxiety or depressive disorders A bad day is a just that... a bad day... Everyone gets bad days once in a while and that's OK. Having to focus on work for an isolated bad day is not cruel. If you develop a disorder that turns into something you struggle with EVERYDAY for weeks, then something is not right. That's when you take time off and focus on your well being. He's not saying you should act happy when you you develop clinical depression or anxiety, he's talking about having "a bad day". Those are the words he used and I don't think we should speculate beyond that. Not a SICK day. When you are sick, you rest and skip practice. Not during grief from death of a loved one or anxiety attacks, or depression. He meant a regular bad day that everyone gets.
I think you're forgetting the fact that for people with mental disabilities, symptoms like time blindness are not just feelings that can be ignored or covered up as simply as a temporary bad mood. These people genuinely experience life differently from neurotypicals in a way that can't be explained to someone who doesn't share their diagnosis/symptoms. You wouldn't call a physically disabled person lazy or entitled for not being able to perform the same tasks as a fully able-bodied person (hopefully), but it's easy to assume that people with invisible disabilities are faking it or over-exaggerating because there's no way for them to "prove" the unique way their brain works. (Like when people with full vision try to describe full blindness as only seeing black, but fully blind people disagree because they literally see nothing, and non-blind people can't possibly imagine what nothingness looks like.) Someone asking a potential employer if they have accommodations for their mental disorder isn't rude or bratty; it's important for employees to make sure the place they'll be working for is a good fit for them so they can be productive and keep their job. Mentally disabled people deserve healthy work environments that won't make them miserable/punish them for their disabilities, too. And there ARE jobs where that's possible, believe it or not, so them trying to find those workplaces isn't a weakness at all. It's the opposite. The alternative is them accepting a job they know they'll be unsuccessful at due to strict conditions (I don't mean that in a bad way) that they can't always meet, and that'll only cause stress for themselves, their boss, and co-workers. I'm not saying that all workplaces have to accommodate for all mental health symptoms, and I realize there are limitations that have to be enforced at the end of the day, but someone trying to figure out if the place they might work at is understanding of and can handle/adapt to their symptoms that will inevitably affect their work isn't some kind of moral failure. Employers ask interviewees all kinds of questions to gauge whether that person will be a good worker for them. Potential employees shouldn't be shamed for trying to figure out if a workplace will be a good fit for them, too. I don't understand why that makes so many neurotypicals angry.
Just to add, there's a company in my town that sends employees automated text reminders 30 minutes before their shift starts if they request it. That really doesn't add on to anyone else's workload (maybe for 30 seconds while they type that person's phone number into the system) and it helps people with ADHD/forgetful tendencies be on time. Accommodations can be simple and easy. They don't always mean that someone else is being seriously burdened to meet your needs.
for real. like, we live in a capitalist society. if no job is going to accept them as they are, but they are bratty and entitled if they ask for accommodations, exactly how are they supposed to be able to afford like. food? shelter? i love this channel but this is an awful take, honestly
But the person can just make the alarms themselves; I say this as someone who has autism and has really bad time blindness. If the expectation of your job is to be on time, you need to adhere to that expectation and make reminders for yourself to come on time. While it is harder for people with time blindness to manage time, they’re still adults and should be responsible enough to manage their disabilities. I’d understand if the person asked for accommodations in brightness or colours in the office, rest periods, a more exact or specific schedule, a different way of communicating information, or sound padding since those are within the job environment and you will have to deal with them while working but for something like time blindness that is before the job itself and can be combatted using alarms or reminders, at that point it falls upon the person.
@@lilaculots Right. It's one thing to say people shouldn't demand that every place changes the job expectations to suit them (that's reasonable), but it's another to humiliate people who try to find jobs that can/will work with their needs. There's no harm in asking questions. This kind of "suck it up and act like a normal person" rhetoric towards mentally disabled people isn't new or meaningful.
@@craneisthename I'm autistic, too, and that comment was just an example. I agree that we should be making our own alarms and trying to account for our symptoms on our own. But the person she was talking about didn't fail to meet job expectations, they didn't even have a job. All they did was ask an open-ended question at an interview. I assumed she was asking more about the penalties for being late, like if they'd fire her for the first offense or write her up or something, not if the job would expect her to have a work schedule? That seems like a given. I'm not arguing that mentally disabled people should rely on everyone else to take care of them. I'm just saying she's not a bad person for trying to find a place that offers a little leniency for mental health symptoms. There's a reason 85% of autistic Americans are unemployed, and it's not just because they're all lazy or incapable of doing anything on their own.
I have autism and ADHD, so very time blind. I live in the UK where a lot of laws are in place for disability and mental health in the workplace. This is a privilege and I understand other countries don’t have this. Which is why when k pop companies and idols discuss these topics I ignore it. We can’t expect the whole world to bend to our values. It takes time for views to change.
@@yourname4531well i agree time blindness is real but thats a bad argument, there are lots of other reasons people are late besides literally lacking awareness of what time it is and how much time you need. getting held up by something unexpected like traffic, oversleeping, getting distracted, just plain laziness etc are all probably more common causes of lateness than actual time blindness.
@vlad5042 Laziness is also a bad argument for time blindness. You may be too lazy to read a book, water flowers or cook your own food. Laziness has nothing to do with time blindness. People with time blindness can be very active. Simply do not feel how fast time is passing. Normal people may be late and they may have different reasons for this. But we are talking about people with mental disorders. Their reasons for being late are different from normal people.
tbh, it's very simple. THE WORLD DOES NOT EVOLVE AROUND YOU. we live in a society where people mostly dgaf bout you, people mind their own business. you're not the centre of the world and so do your idols. whether you like it or not, jyp he's right. even my dad also said the same thing. most of kpop stans are still so young so they're lack of experience and knowledge. meanwhile jyp, he could be our dad or at least uncle, he's 52 years old. he maybe not the best person ever but he still has experiences (good or bad) in his life, not to mention he's literally you idols BIG senior. BUT, I think the best option is somewhere in the middle. this also reminds me of how jyp praising wonyoung for being the most idol of all idols, everything about her is screaming idol as a positive one, but SOME stays (AGAIN 💀) being a salty bitches they are, trying so hard to twist jyp's words into negative. they also say shit like "that's why wonyoung is so fake because her personality is fake made by starship". BITCH STFU, IT MEANS THAT WONYOUNG REALLY PROFESSIONAL IN HER JOB AS AN IDOL. SHE KNOWS HOW TO SET HER IDOL LIFE AND HER PRIVATE LIFE. SHE KNOWS HOW TO MAKE BOUNDARIES WITH HER FANS, SO HER FANS DID NOT CROSS THE LINE UNLIKE.... 💀
nope. nah. absolutely not having this one. the initial immediate part of the video on accommodating time blindness- like, be so fucking fr. we all have some weaknesses that need to be accommodated, everyone fucking does, to pretend that that's not important or that people shouldn't have to understand it is exactly the reason why mental health has a fucking stigma against it. I'm not saying you shouldn't try to work with it, because you should, but the way you jump from the reasonable statement of wanting some help with an issue in a work environment to "this generation is so weak" is very confusing. Then, right before the intro where you compare that tiktok to how JYP was talking about maintaining environment on a bad day- look, i'm not going to pretend as if the underlying point doesn't make enough sense, but calling people "illiterate" for not-so-unreasonably misreading that as hiding your issues (fucking hell it sounds exactly like that kind of rhetoric people with mental health issues get when it comes to that shit) is really demeaning. before you hit me with that "it's a job" shit, i want you to know that your work shouldn't have to come before your actual health. the fact that it is the case in a society like ours doesn't mean it fucking should be, nobody should suffer because people already do, that's a shitty mindset to have about people.
As someone who resigns from their previous job due to mental health problem, I still agree with her defense of JYP. The reason is because I was the reason that my colleague's mental health started deteriorating since I was always being moody whenever we worked together (this was from my first job, not the previous one). I brought problems outside to the workforce and acted however I want, got angry when people pointed out how uncomfortable I made them become. I always thought they're being intolerant untill I saw it myself how my colleague becoming stressed out due to my carelessness. That's why until now I learn to separate personal life and work life. You shouldn't underestimate people by thinking people won't be able to spot differences between unprofessionalism and actually putting their mental health first.
Okay I have diagnosed adhd that im being treated and medicated for so hear me on this: Maybe there are some careers that can accommodate time blindness, but some just can't. You can seriously negatively impact other people if you are not punctual in some jobs. If a project falls through because YOU didnt meet the deadline, then whole company, including your coworkers and potential future opportunities, all suffer because of it. That's not something that can be brushed away, and little can be done to fully accommodate that. Even on a smaller scale, like shift work, you could be holding a co-worker back from something important because they can't leave until you get there to take over. At that point it's something YOU need to find YOUR OWN accommodations for. Workplace accommodations are about ensuring the affected party can do their job unrestricted, with little undue stress. It does not mean you get to negatively impact other people in order to achieve that. The same goes with mental health issues. You do not get to stress out your coworkers and impact THEIR mental health because you're struggling. That's not fair. It doesn't even help YOU. Some things will be unavoidable, but you do not get to use these genuine issues as an excuse to not put the work in to improve. The most you can do is ask for grace and patience while assuring that these are things you're working on mitigating. Ensuring you are not negatively impacting the people around you is not being "strict" it's being fair.
I’m actually a teenager and what JYP said is completely valid and I agree with you. I grew up having ADHD and anxiety since kindergarten. All the way until end of 5th grade, I would have frequent panic attacks and break downs during school. I got bullied and mocked for the amount of times I cried, but during it I realized I was affecting my friends. My friends would be more in a low mood around me due to me getting upset over small inconveniences. Despite me being in 7th grade, I still have rare panic attacks. It has been a huge improvement for me that I am able to manage better. My friends aren’t always miserable due to me always being upset because of small little things. I started dating a girl 8 months ago and it has gone greatly due to me being able to successfully handle my emotions, not hide them. I help by talking out my insecurities with my 3 bffs and obviously my girlfriend. Life has been great recently and despite me moving out of the state, it has brought a lot of mental health struggles such as SH. I am staying strong though and trying to keep a positive mindset even in my hard times. With that saying I am over 3 months clean! I took the same exact advice JYP said all those years ago and my story is quite the rollercoaster of ups and downs. I appreciate someone speaking up about this and saying exactly what needs to be said. Even if I’m not in the workforce It still has helped me even in school. (Hopefully you see this as it would mean a lot! ❤)
I think a lot of this generation's problems you pointed out here will resolve with time. We are in a generation that has a monopole on opinions on social media (as we are the only generation with almost 100% social media usage), so this is basically a huge echo chamber that earlier generations didn't have when they were under 25 and the coming generations won't have because they will have to share social media with older generations.
1. as someone who has adhd and time blindness, it is not an excuse for not showing up to work on time. yes there are some things i can request accommodations for at my cashier job like being able to chew gum at my lane because it keeps me focused. however, people don't need accommodations for time blindness, you just need to work on figuring out how long it takes to get to work and how long to take bathroom breaks, etc. it is not the company's job to be running after you when you're late. 2. i recently had a mental breakdown at work and started crying because a customer was being rude to me. i have been under a lot of stress (having to cut people out of my life, facing homelessness and having to live in a shelter, getting sick every couple weeks, etc) but that is a once in a while thing (the first time it's happened since working there for over 2 years) and shouldn't necessarily be happening all the time. while i'm at work, if i'm having a bad day, i just suck it up and continue working until my shift is over. once my shift is over i can cry all i want but when i'm at work, i do my best to put on a brave face and smile through my shift
I completely agree with this video. I feel like this topic of managing your feelings/situation can also apply to school. One of the classes I took required group work, but my teacher made it clear to us that if someone in our group was not doing their work she said to not be too hard on them because life happens. While I agree that was true, it really does hold back a group if someone does not do their part and if that part was necessary for the whole group. It’s the same with idols and other work environments. As much as i don’t like JYP, I can’t help but agree with him.
Broadcasting your misery makes the people around you miserable too, which can kill team cohesion, or if you work customer service, poorly influence a customer's view of you. When you agreed to work somewhere, you agreed that you were there to work and nothing else (barring lunch breaks and stuff like that) And when you make yourself a problem, you are actively harming the business. Wear the coporate smile and then go home and drink wine or something. And before you tell me I don't know what I'm talking about, I've been working customer service since 2020. As someone who also struggles with time management(I and others around me suspect I have ADHD as well, but I haven't been able to get tested yet), I've had my whole life to find work arounds for that. Notifications on my phone that remind me to do work in time I set aside specifically to do that work. Alarms that go off in the middle of the day to remind me I have somewhere to be and I need to leave now if I want to make it on time. I would never demand that a workplace just accpet that I might not get to work on time without any consequences. Either get a job that lets you work whenever you feel like it, or figure out how to get yourself to work on time.
I just scrolled over it on twt so I knew a discussion existed. But what I hear really sounds dumb. I need to work too on bad days as well. The only times I took a day off on personal feelings is when family members have just died.
I am pretty sure many of this things are planned or either biased, when someone makes a point that is very good but have a "bad record" or they are dislike people shut them down, people twist the words and add bs to it, but the opposite happen if someone it is seem as good or doing something good like Hwasa with "I love my body", when she makes mistakes people try to make it look less bad or "it not that deep, it's just a little thing".
ngl i avoided watching this video bc when i first watched it, you said smth that made me immediately click off. and when i tried to remember what exactly it was to no avail, i gave this a watch from start to finish. this is a good video and you especially clocked it with the mention of professionalism!!
Yeah, the timing and the messenger is really what set people off IMHO. But I have to say, if this is how we reacted to a statement from JYP, imagine if it were from SM (notorious for not renewing artists because their management and relationships with employees are trash).
The number of people who can't comprehend the idea behind the word "PROFESSIONALISM" is insane. I've had a couple experience with people in the family or workplace who COMPLAINS about everything and it ruins the atmosphere. I'm from this generation but it baffles me how NEGATIVE people are consistent but they're mostly oldies who complain about younger gens that it ruins my day too even if I'm doing well professionally as a young professional. 😔
Being idol is an actual job. it's not like engineers or doctors or nurses or teachers, but you work hard to achieve your dreams or what you want, ppl says they don't give enough time to sleep or the Don't eat well or work all night....sorry they achieves money easy than the other academic field ppl have to stop complaining about thing yhey have to do singing & dancing is part of job its not something they are not have aware of
Agree with you girl. In asia culture when you work for company you better delivery. There is no slacking, you have to keep pushing to reach your peak. No one will bring you there but yourself.
Bro I saw the outrage and I was so confused- like, I’m a soccer player. Obviously, the fact that I’m a soccer player will mean that some games we lose, some games we win, some games feel like shit, and some don’t. However, the part that I think people who don’t play sports don’t understand is that if you let your emotions show about how upset you are, or how pissed you are, your teammates, especially if you’re a captain or a goalkeeper in the case of soccer, are going to be pissed and upset as well. Your mood sets the tone of the people who look up to you. My dad taught me this, and after every game, when I was obviously upset, he would tell me to “keep it in check until we get to the car,” and that was some of the best advice I’ve gotten. I’ve learned that making jokes, messing around a bit, and having that little bit of time because of the walk from the field to the car helps you cool off, so when you get in the car, you no longer feel like punching someone in the face and you’re able to talk out your feelings easier and more rationally. I thoroughly believe that if people on the internet played sports and knew about the emotional aspect of sports, this wouldn’t have been suck a widespread hate train, because JYP was 100% right💀
JYP is one of the nicest bosses out there. I said what i said JYP artists are almost the sole artists who can go on hiatus for something like anxiety... Now i'm not downgrading anxiety but try to take a leave from your job for anxiety and tell me how that goes for you. Also JYP artists make fun of him all the time which shows that they're actually close to him enough in order for them to be able to make fun of him all the time and get away with it. I really do believe JYP the man is a nice person who looks after his artists realistically not perfectly and before you gonna say but JYP did this and that... Yeah you're right... JYP the company did bad things but that doesn't make Park Jin Young a bad person One more thing don't villainize or idolize anyone please. Remember we will never know the whole story.
This gen suffers from popularity over quality. You can be absolutely SHITTT but as long as you have mad views they won't care. That's why with the blackpink issue I won't say Jennie is lazy but she is unprofessional. You can have days your not the best I understand but using that same excuse for almost a full 12 months when you have shown us that you are capable of better but just don't care for better is what irritates me. Like people said Jennie was depressed. I understand depression but as someone who suffers from it and a dancer, I won't show everyone that I'm depressed cus if everyone can tell your miserable then just like jyp said, it will shift the mood. However alot of idols get away with this cus fans are fine with it and that's why both performances and music quality been down cus we can see some companies and idols just don't put in effort cus they know they will get money anyway
I'm a nurse and literally have ran a code blue then go to another patients room with a smile on my face. Im not a robot and I have feelings but my patient doesn't need to know I just performed CPR, or someone died. Maybe because I'm older but I totally got what JYP said.
Okay, the way it was phrased was unfortunate (context is key) but most of it is K-pop fans' insane ability to take anything and turn it into drama. It's almost as impressive as it is downright terrifying.
I can get both sides yes idols should be able to let their emotions out but at an appropriate time since like any job u wouldn’t go to work and just start letting all your problems out maybe unless it’s something serious
My experience is, if you share that your feeling bad with other people, they still act like you're feeling bad two to three months later. I could be feeling bad for ONE DAY over a tiny incident but onlookers always draw things out of proportion. For me, it's better to keep things to myself.
I don't think the work system has to change, I just think there should be like a specific job for people with ADHD or autism if they want us to be useful and not a borden, because I can be on time to my job, but my problem is with lunch, lunch are usually 45 minutes, and I have to wait at least 10 minutes in line to get my food order, then I got to go to the bathroom and if you have the anxiety that I have, I cannot permit myself to use that break until afternoon just in case I have an emergency, because we just have 1 break of 10 minutes available, also I work when am sick because when you wake up, you don't know how much this awful feeling is going to be once at your job, so it just get worse during the day and if I want to lived I have to get a doctor report that I am actually sick and is not just bs, so they cannot mark that day as absent. I worked in a call center btw. also my job was in another town, I have to wake up early and come back home very late, that is why I quit.
@@perseypoppins I don't know, I don't live in usa, and I just know am high masking so people don't care for me, on top of that am poor, well in my country I am middle class but my parents in a big debt, our house could be taken by the state if they don't pay and I just get out of highschool.
i know some people like that tiktoker. Sometimes if i do things that go against my beliefs for the sake of other people, someone will say I 'lack self-respect'. I do not agree with the statement 'always put yourself first' or the idea that if you change yourself for other people you're weak. Because like it or not the world helped you, whether that be your parents, shopkeepers, teachers or friends, and no one can survive entirely by themselves.
yeah ok, him saying to make everyone comfortable is very much seriously OK, especially in idol industry but tbh I don't see much sense in releasing ITZY album and tour without Lia, fans and everyone would wait for them and for the money argument, jype has enough money from other groups, short break from itzy activities wouldn't do anything to both of them, nor jype, nor itzy
As somone with anexiety. Bro, stoping all things because of me would be horrible. Even more, we do not know how long this is gonna take. Could be up to a year. Have also meet people like that. And then having your colleges and chef be like "Soooo, how it is going?" Boah nahh. Sorry what is need is that Lia knows that she is not needed right now and can look after herself.
Minor here!! I am a very sensitive person when it comes to a lot of things and even I understand teamwork and to try to bring light to the group at work if I am having a bad day. I struggled enough in this life, and i have to leave my life when it comes to work at the front door. Like you gotta suck it up for the group in some sense. It's a job. J. O. B. If you need a few seconds, take a few seconds. Compose yourself and get back to it. Don't waste time. JYP knows his stuff and most of these stans do not. Idols are humans too and I get that, but this is a job. Why can't they get criticisms or be told what to do and what not to do. Y'all aren't idols, y'all are fans. Whilst concerns are valid, nothing should stop you from improving yourself, to be punctual, or to make money. It isn't that difficult. Also these stans gotta stop twisting people's words, it's annoying asf. Stay safe out there. ❤ Edit: to clarify, I ain't speaking on mental illnesses. I'm speaking on things that come to pass like neg emotions, not illness. I don't want no fights breaking out in my comments. Xoxo. 💋
Thanks so much for creating this award show and making it open to public voting! Im sure the community really appreciates it! But I wanted to ask why the voting isn’t limited to one vote per account? With unlimited voting I feel you won’t get a good census on what the public as a whole thinks about who should win these awards. I feel like it opens up the problem of fandoms competing to vote as many times as possible to ensure their favs win rather than merit wins that the general public voted. Idk maybe people won’t do that but knowing the track records of some die hard fandoms I wouldn’t be surprised…
It just feels like the unlimited voting creates the narrative of who has the most active fandom that can mass vote multiple times a day rather than on the general public’s opinion if it’s reduced to one vote per person
I completely agree with everything said in this video, but in my personal opinion there is some truth to the other side too. I've been a fan of the idol world since 2008, I was into J-pop first, and switched to Kpop around 2016-2017ish. And if there's something I've learned throughout these years is that the reason idols are able to look happy for the fans all the time in public (which yes I admit, is part of their job and important for their reputation) is because, we could call it part of their training, but they're borderline brainwashed into acting this way: sucking up their emotions, no matter what. Which if you're just having a bad day is the right thing to do, but is also the reason idols are afraid to show anger or frustration when they're mobbed at the airport or followed around by sasaengs, they think even the slightest slip up could hurt their image. I was so proud of Jungkook when he recently stood up for himself when he was being harrassed. We should let idols express themselves in situations like this because it's part of letting them be humans.
You are mixing things up. JYP never said you are not allowed to stand up for yourself in tough situations. He simply says you shouldn't go to work with an attitude and mess up the atmosphere for everyone else at work. You guys are throwing out random situations out there and associating it where it doesn't belong.
"This generation” this, “this generation” that. Give people a chance to grow up. No the world isn’t doomed bc some teenagers don’t understand how the world works yet lol. You sound very elitist and it’s not that deep. I do agree with JYP on this too. I’m 29. If I’m having a bad day, I have to pretend I’m not while I’m at work. That’s just how it is. But crying over how younger ppl may not understand that concept isn’t the answer lol
Hi. I agree with you and JYP (human.) I remember my mother talking to an employee at a coffee shop, and she said they didn't seem happy. That didn't make for a good experience. I get that person was unhappy, but that shouldn't affect the customer service. You never know. Your mood could affect the customer. My personal advice is to write your feelings down in a diary. If you feel comfortable, talk to someone you trust. (Okay, I'm a hyprcrite when it comes to that second one.) Also, if you like watching TH-cam video, go on to TH-cam and watch a video from your favorite TH-camr. Finally, listen to either music or a TV show or movie that makes you happy.
I swear.. sometimes you just can't win 😢
@@YTMidnightPlayzz Well said.
It doesnt matter, him getting hate is expected when hes had allegations against him for being a predator involved with r kelly

@@midapita links don't work in comments anymore, you can search up 'Orange Blood dance practice sketch'
I think thats a good point honestly, perhaps i shouldnt take what the creator says at face value
That's a good point, I didn't even think about that 🤔
It is a job though.
@@RogueRhiRhi agreed, thank you for comment it was needed !
@@lovelypanda8676the question simply said how would you handle a bad day. You guys are digging too deep into this
@@asareireneI mean, considering JYPE's history of overworking their idols, I think people's reaction was valid in a way.
I still feel that jyp has to be careful in which situation the advice is used, you need to be able to tell if it's a bad day or if the person is going through something or if there's an actual problem that won't be solved by a bit of sleep and chocolate.
Also, yes, this reminded me of a certain case Cheryl talked about
Well said. Also, what case exactly? Mind to spill? ☕👀
@@YTMidnightPlayzz Very well said.
I do agree with you, I remember saying that despite this advice being harsh it is a real advice
We are not asking people to work to the point their depression gets the best of them, we ask them to do their job and deal with their emotions
As much as JYP is not the best at least his company gives some hiatuses to its idols contrary to a lot of other companies
His advice is basically "Suck it up Buttercup" and he isnt really wrong. You go to work and leave you shit at the door in my opinion.
i do think sometimes it's easy for us to forget the dynamic, as so many idols play into the parasocial relationship, hence the insane defensive nature some fandoms have towards their idols. you're absolutely right, it is a job, an incredibly demanding one at that, so it's no wonder many leave for breaks often. i think especially new fans see that and feel bad, so it comes naturally to leave well-meaning comments like you would to a friend, maybe even question their management. but, it can also get incredibly annoying for the idol to have fans constantly telling them to take care of themselves (the infamous clip of stays telling chan to sleep being a prime example).
i think in chill fandoms like melodies and moomoos this behavior is acceptable, as both artist and fandom are aware of boundaries and respect them, but some can take it way too far and start attacking the management or even other idols without realizing they themselves are a part of the problem.
regarding the softness and spoil of this generation however, i have to say i disagree a little bit. i believe there is a lot of work to be done in every industry to improve mental health and disability accommodations, but we can sometimes be a bit too demanding and forward in our search for equity and equal opportunity. we tend to focus on small, polarizing topics instead of looking at the big picture and trying to resolve pressing issues first. this attack on jyp fits perfectly, as we immediately picked a scapegoat to blame for lia's hiatus instead of discussing why industry leaders tend to overwork their idols, sometimes to the point of injury, and what we as fans can do to combat that.
And always think outside of the box.
u wrote this really well, and this is such a great explanation
@@FrostyPlayzYTThank you, bestie 🥺🩵

Not the Normani shade 😭
i think you forget that adhd and autism count as disabilities and asking for accommodations for symptoms you experience because of them shouldn't necessarily be used as an example of how this generation is weak imo
I so agree with my generation romatacising to just caring about only their feelings and prioritising themselves alone… and by that i do not mean to neglect oneselves 😑
JYP as you pointed out said that in terms of IDOL being a job and not just random people loving to sing and dance on stage!
(And lowkey still do which is a shame)
If the accommodation can be made reasonably, which many can to allow for more time, then why not allow someone that?
♡

Totally agree with you! You put into words what I was thinking 🙏
Thank you for understanding. I thought many wouldn't agree but I am glad you did. Normal jobs are nowhere as hard or the same as celebs'/ k pop artists. The standards alone are tough to bare. @@rachelwanda2797
You worded it perfectly. I agree!
Thank you I’ve noticed she can really lack nuance in these things
@@Anyaaaah I agree you shouldn't be late everyday when there are stuff to help you like alarms but once in a while shouldn't be a big deal
@@sage.81 yeah exactly! 😊
i halfly disagree with his statement and your whole point...
let's just get to where i do not agree, health, whether it be physical or mental always comes first, before your job and surely before someone else's business, of course as you said a bad day will is not the same as having chronic depression but you know what? it may turns into if you always hide your feelings and never get your things out, with how messed up this industry is i do hope they have therapy sessions even though they don't have a diagnosed problem...
then again, business should never be an excuse for you to hide your feelings, having a bad day? suck it up, get a day off, you're getting that money anyway, actually try to relax and get better in a way or another, believe me getting a day off (while trying to actually help yourself) is way more helpful than just faking a smile or cracking a joke trying to lighten up the mood... it's not gonna last, you're gonna be sad again
but now i'm thinking, if people discover you faked a smile they'll hate you because you're fake, if you look sad then they'll hate you for not putting on a fake smile, if you take a break or go on hiatus they'll think it's your ceo fault or they'll spread false and senseless rumors, they really got no choice...
this just makes you realized how fucked up this industry is, and let's not even compare it to other jobs, it's stupid when you know the huge differences
and again business (or capitalism 🤨) shouldn't be an excuse for you to always act like everything is fine when it clearly isn't...
and honestly i don't even know why i started this huge ass paragraph saying i halfly disagree, hell no i totally disagree, your job (or other people's feelings too, he talked about not wanting them to make other feel sad) never comes first, it doesn't matter the amount of money or that stupid ass contract you made your parents sign because you were a minor
that is definitely horrible advice, nothing can't change my mind
It's okay you're not an idol, you can be sad at work and complain to your coworkers if you want. Though keep in mind there are safter places to process your emotions.
There's reason JYP has been doing a lot of Survival shows, and it is to humanize him. People forget that he has to make money, and the idols depend on him to make money, so they can make money. When people trash JYP, you know who it really hurts, THEIR IDOLS they think they have a para-social relationship with.
Based take on the subject. A difference from all the other kpop gossip opinion sites, that know nothing about the world.
Incoming Essay:
I don’t know.

Yet, my main gripe is, there is nothing weak or entitled about ASKING IF a job can accommodate your disability

i dont usually comment when i disagree bc its literally just kpop and i disagree w a lot of things but that doesnt necessarily mean its wrong or bad, but this one was particularly a difficult take to stomach as we watch some of the biggest capitalist empires fall to fascism before our eyes, just for you to kinda… support capitalism lol

Come on then what system will you replace it with? Communism?
@agrayangel530 yeah, but there's a great disagreement over what we define as "a little" more tolerable...
If I came to my job with my feelings all out I would be fired right away
But I know that no one wants to be around someone who is doing bad most of the time, even though I'm not at fault for my illness either but I prefer to deal with my issues by myself *and* in therapy so that I don't dump stuff on my friends... because tbh, there is nothing they could do to help me, so my thoughts go "why bother them in the first place?" (Ofc I'm aware that things are different for people who don't have access to therapy, so I'm only speaking about my personal case here)
TL;DR: Life is unfair, yet we still have to make it work as best as we can.
It is often the unfair dynamic of "everyone around me can treat me however they like but I am not allowed to be upset and must treat everyone else kindly."
That is not okay.

What is meant by "treat idols like humans" is simple. Treat them as you would like to be treated. And if you're not interested in their music, then move on. There's plenty of other music out there for people to enjoy. It's not that hard to understand.

Thanks
Voted for the end of award show ❤
Thank you for your hard work and also your side channel videos !! You are doing great 💜
The epitome of what JYP said has to be Sana.
Disclaimer: i am not bullying you, my replies are my opinion, if my opinion is wrong or hurtful then feel free to communicate that
You guys are very much entitled though.
As Jyp himself said “Sweet dreams are made of this”
just from the title. i wanna hear this one out.
Welcome back on your main channel ! ✨
Time blindness does not exist.
@@skillbopster google it cause it does
@@skillbopster It does. If it didn’t exist, there would be no such thing as being late.
1:03 i’m a gg stan and i already know my groups ain’t winning 😭
nope. nah. absolutely not having this one.
the initial immediate part of the video on accommodating time blindness- like, be so fucking fr. we all have some weaknesses that need to be accommodated, everyone fucking does, to pretend that that's not important or that people shouldn't have to understand it is exactly the reason why mental health has a fucking stigma against it.
Then quit
Okay I have diagnosed adhd that im being treated and medicated for so hear me on this:
Maybe there are some careers that can accommodate time blindness, but some just can't.
2. i recently had a mental breakdown at work and started crying because a customer was being rude to me. i have been under a lot of stress (having to cut people out of my life, facing homelessness and having to live in a shelter, getting sick every couple weeks, etc) but that is a once in a while thing (the first time it's happened since working there for over 2 years) and shouldn't necessarily be happening all the time. while i'm at work, if i'm having a bad day, i just suck it up and continue working until my shift is over. once my shift is over i can cry all i want but when i'm at work, i do my best to put on a brave face and smile through my shift
i was just leaving the history office when i saw this notification and went “oop and that’s some tea” 💀
Honestly, a lot of group work is usually done by 1 or 2 people while the rest slack off. They are terrible about teaching team work
Broadcasting your misery makes the people around you miserable too, which can kill team cohesion, or if you work customer service, poorly influence a customer's view of you.
I said what i said
JYP artists are almost the sole artists who can go on hiatus for something like anxiety...
JYP the company did bad things but that doesn't make Park Jin Young a bad person
One more thing don't villainize or idolize anyone please.
The voting doc makes me realize how many debuts and comebacks I hadn’t gotten to listen to, at least I have some time to catch up
Omg I literally watched this on Rebal D TH-cam channel about the the blindness girl
Okay, the way it was phrased was unfortunate (context is key) but most of it is K-pop fans' insane ability to take anything and turn it into drama. It's almost as impressive as it is downright terrifying.
Ouuuu the intro is so pretty 🩷
tyty!
She's back back back back back back!!!! 😘
And also, yes our generation is so embarrassing sometimes.
Because like it or not the world helped you, whether that be your parents, shopkeepers, teachers or friends, and no one can survive entirely by themselves.
yeah ok, him saying to make everyone comfortable is very much seriously OK, especially in idol industry
but tbh I don't see much sense in releasing ITZY album and tour without Lia, fans and everyone would wait for them
and for the money argument, jype has enough money from other groups, short break from itzy activities wouldn't do anything to both of them, nor jype, nor itzy
@@lucycarlay8547 yeah, I get your point and wishing lia all the best
it's just idk, this whole situation feels really rushed and just somehow weird
I can't wait to hear this later
Edit: to clarify, I ain't speaking on mental illnesses.
I also defend JYP. I have a ton of empathy for him. Plus, I'm pretty sure JYP isn't even the ceo of the company any more.
But crying over how younger ppl may not understand that concept isn’t the answer lol
you are quite literally the realest person 😭😭
You are right! I'm glad I know someone understands.
