I beachcomb in California and have been known to whoop and then rush over to complete strangers and say " look at this!" Look what I just found! 😂😂 I'm always too excited to worry if they join me or not. Lol. 😂😂😂
Many years ago an uncle of mine who was interested in geology found an amethyst on the beach at a small village on the west coast of Scotland called Dunure. The rock that it was embedded in was granite and your amethyst looks similar. Really enjoyed watching your channel.
I love when people thank considerate waves & stuff 😁 I’m sure Mother Nature appreciates the politeness 😊 Also shows you’re a naturally kind & polite person too. 9:57 Oh my - that root/wood section is so stunning. That would make an incredible painting
The host stone on that amethyst looked like granite. I love your videos. I love looking for unusual rocks on the beach, but didn’t know too much about them. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Just hearing your joy when you find another treasure fills me with joy. Thank yoyuu for sharing these wonderful videos with us. And the south shore of LAke Superior is the only place in the US where I have found Amethyst. And I've found great fossils there, too. Keep on hunting and posting!
Thanks for the post AD, much appreciated! 👍 I know for me it's always exciting finding a rare or previously uncollected specimen to add to the collection and your enthusiasm is contagious. Thanks again for the sharing the adventure and goodies. Hope you have a nice rest of your week!
13:06 I’ve only watched a couple of your videos & I’m super new to this (& admittedly my focus is on making jewellery to enhance rocks & gems), but that gorgeous agate looks like it’s already partway carved into a tortoise with a red band around the base of its upper shell. Beautiful!
Very aesthetically pleasing video. Scenery is spectacular and some amazing finds! Thanks for sharing with us and making us feel like we're right there with ya!
How lucky was that...more purple yay! Nice Agates! 😀😁😜 did you check the bottom of your boots for specimens...you would have been taller by the end of the day with that clay! Herman Munster boots😀 Worth it tho...good pickins there! 👍
Hi AD! I'm from Wisconsin and I wanted to know what beach you're at. I love your videos! As an avid rock hounder, I learn a lot! I'd love to know what location this is!
I thought I heard you say corn horal! Hahaha! Let's add that to rhubarb for rebar. The last few years that I worked, my coworkers and I kept a list of all the funny things we said. We had quite a list! I can't believe you picked a piece of amethyst right off the beach! I wonder if there could be more in that spot. Thank you for a great video. Love the nature shots and Scoopy playing in the mud. Also I like how you place the rocks for stills. Beautiful.
Makes me so happy to see someone else get excited about beach fossils. I found a few really great horn corals and a few that I haven't figured out what they even are yet and I found a clear green stone that I have no idea what it is yet either
You got so excited when you found the fossil you called it corn horal 🤣🤣🤣🤣 gotta love you for the pure joy you have in finding these treasure. My north shore trip is on hold due to shoulder surgery this month and a pretty long recovery. I will live through you! ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
Agate Dad you actually said it again in the wrap up. Maybe you are trying to start a trend😁♥️♥️ When I have been up north I haven’t ventured to WI side might have to check it out next time that yellow one was awesome and I love finding coral and fossils too.
Agate Dad Hey I am stuck in a sling for 6 weeks left with only a useless no dominant left arm to deal with gotta get my giggles in somewhere🤣🤣🤣 Thanks ♥️♥️
I have never done a lot of hunting on the south shore. You make me want to give it a shot! I think Dad kept us away because my Mother would have insisted a lot of that driftwood ended up in the yard. Lol
Great video, we too get excited with some of our finds . In the short time we've been rock hounding we've been lucky to find many fossils on Lake Michigan on our western shore. Petoskey stones also. I'm expecting to rock hound Lake Huron and the Straits this Summer from our friends place. Can't wait.
Hello again, and thanks for the upload! 0:45 Limonite is pronounced like lime. ...6:09 & 11:40 "Corn Horal" lol 12:12 my guess would gravitate toward microcrystalline quartzite/chert with a bit of calcite making up the white bits.
@@AgateDad You're silly, and I'm still jealous of your abilities, adventures and finds! ...My continued wishes of good health and happiness to you and your family! :)
Another great beach in Wisconsin is Crescent Beach in Algoma, Wisconsin. So many fossils and 1/2 mile of rocky shoreline. I don't know what I'm looking at, but I always leave the beach with a pocket full of amazing stones!
HELLO! Can't tell you how happy I am to have found your channel! Brings back years of memories walking beaches and those special dirt roads with rocky ditches. A sweet fun thing bringing family together hunting talking polishing and delighting in each other's finds. Also enjoy your photography of the beautiful nature out there. Must say I really smile at your enthusiasm and excitement in the hunt and your finds. It's been a long time to know of someone who truly enjoys rocks and such!!!! I already had subscribed but now just wanted you to know how much I appreciate your channel and will look soo forward to join you on your hunts. Many thanks!
This is my first time watching your video and i chose this one bcos i love gems. I got to know your channel whilst reading Sea Glass Ireland's comments. In which she and her subscribers also mentioned how they love yr channel so i decided to check it put and am glad i did. Gonna be watching out for all of your videos from now on though i have so many of yours to catch up. Btw I am Tammy from Malaysia. 🌻
Yeah she's a beast...i will say we went down to canal park yesterday and I was mad I didn't bring my swimming suit, the temp was the best I've ever felt!! And I found my best agate in a host rock lol
Just an observation, that hilly shorline behind you is made up of red clay. You can grab a chunk of it and dry it out very slowly and make things from it.
So many great finds ! It is amazing how many fossils came up this spring. You found some really nice pieces. For some reason this is the year for fossils in the Lakes. Actually I am finding them in the rivers also. But mostly the Lakes. Enjoyed watching. Thanks for taking us along :)
That shell imprint looked like a nose. The host rock on that amethyst is the granite that it derives from occasionally. I have a ton of rocks with shell imprints too I love finding them too. Nice video
I believe the host rock on your large amethyst pebble is a type of K-feldspar gneiss or granitoid. Which would be interesting since I am Alllll the way on the east coast! It is abundant on our shoreline but as far as I have seen not with amethyst attached! Nice find!
What’s not to love about this video? It should have been titled, “Amethyst, Shell Butts and Corn Hoyle.” HAHAHAHA!!!!!! We are dying! 🤣 Some great finds! Love your enthusiasm. Corn hoyle..... Haha!

I would love that! I think it's corn hole lol
Someday, you should make the trip, but not right now.
