Not usually one for commenting, but I just had a huuge meltdown trying to do my shot, I'm 4 1/2 months in so I thought I'd be over it by now, but no. I gave up, and was going to try again tomorrow, but this video came up in my recommends. So I watched it, got inspired, and successfully did my shot no problem! That's all, just thanks for making this video!
I have a SEVERE fear of needles. I have extreme anxiety to the point where I was sitting on the toilet seat for over an hour holding it just over my skin... I still haven't done it and am currently talking with my doc about switching to gel. I'm ok with going in for nurse visits and getting tattoos and stuff... but doing it yourself is WAY different.
I agree with Will! Before I started, I watched as many videos as I could. It helped to desensitize me to seeing a needle going into someone's leg and honestly, the first shot I did was a breeze. This is coming from someone who as a child ran out into the waiting room in their underwear to avoid getting shots at the doctor :). Good luck!
When I'm anxious about my shot I get tense and I find bathing/showering helps to relieve that tension and make it less painful. I also often listen to music or hum when I do the shot. I don't have much of a fear of needles though.
When I tried to do my own shot I faced the same anxiety. I held the syringe in my hand with my heart racing and my palms clammy and I sat there for 3 hours trying to get the courage to do my shot. I held the syringe so long that the markings wore off! I changed over to the gel, but I haven't been able to be consistent with it. I'm hoping either I can find a qualified person to do my shot or see if my doctors office would do it weekly.
Jake Saiser I did the same thing... 3 hours, marking were gone. Had to go to my Endo's office the next day so they could do it. Now I have my dad doing it.. I can't seem to do it myself, and don't want to switch to the gel. And doctors office visits can be expensive. Find a trusted friend to help.. or if the gel works for you, go for it!
PsychoSpade The gel would probably work better if I could be consistent with it. Too often I get busy and let it slip, then I end up only doing it a day or two out of the week. Not good at all! I know I only have myself to blame.
Jake Saiser omg, I have exactly same situation like you. I also think of change to gel instead. but unfortunately I couldn't keep to do it everyday cause of my job. now I'm trying to find any help I can get to overcome the fear...
You can numb the area with an icepack and then re-cleaning the area with the alcohol swab then inject at a 90 degree angle, aspirate- no blood seen in syringe then inject 🤙🏼💪🏼
I absolutely love taking my shot. It's not that I love how it feels but it's how it's helping me be seen as the man I've always felt that I've been on the inside. Now it's visible on the outside. I was able to give myself my first shot surrounded by a few of my friends who are also trans. :) I look at it as a life affirming medication. I need this in order to live a productive life. I've had to be off T a couple times because of finances and it's horrible. Maybe that's why I love my shot!lol I don't end up suffering from estrogen poisoning! :P
Just did my shot while watching/listening to this. I've had lots of issues with passing out while doing my injections. But the idea of talking to the needle and thanking it was actually super helpful. Thanks :)
I have had really intense fear about my shot as well. I work as a veterinary assistant so part of my job is working with and around needles and you have to be the calm and supportive one if you are giving a shot. So I have tried to take that feeling I get of calm, supportiveness and transfer it to my own shots. I also have a shot ritual where I listen to a favorite song and promise myself that I have to give myself my shot by the end of the song. Then to relax after I take a hot shower. It also helps me to not think about it too much which helps me let go of my anxiety about it. I try to only have positive thoughts and associations with my shots, focusing on the good things about it helps a lot. Even if I am sore after I just rub the area and tell myself how proud I am of myself for doing it. Another key thing for me is that I am respectful of my own limits. What I mean by that is I know I can not handle taking a shot every week but every other week is just fine for me. That's pretty much it. Sorry for the long comment lol! Love your videos man! I don't live too far from you actually about two hours.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that gets anxiety ps I wanted to thank you for making these videos they really make me feel better about myself and less of a loner if that makes any sense to you
I'm 15 and I really want to go on t but I'm terrified of needles. I'm terrified about the blood tests and the shots and every time I get shots now I cry and freak out so I can't imagine doing it every week. Idk if gel is available where I live
Doglover12 im Srry but if u cant handle needles don't transition... I always tell people, if u cant handle needles or criticism dont transition. I'm mtf and have done every transition surgery/step and it was the hardest thing of my entire life socially, emotionally, and physically.... Honestly if the idea of blood or a 1 second prick scares you then dont start something you might not be able to handle.
my hopes are too high hello people I was a scared closeted little dude when I commented this and I’m proud to say I started t a week ago and I’ve done both my shots myself!!! The first time i injected it took me almost 2 hours. Today it took me around 5 minutes!!! To anyone afraid of needles I know u can get through this. I did. I still don’t know how I’ve been able to but I made it!! I want to go back and give my 15 year old self a hug and tell him it WILL be ok. I’ve feared needles my whole life and I never thought I would get to this point. But I’m so proud of myself and I can’t wait for changes to start.
I've been on T for 4 1/2 months and have been really struggling with shot anxiety lately so thank you so much for all these tips and helping me just change my mindset to a better one around this
I’m 15 and just came out to my mom a few days ago and will hopefully be starting T in around 2 years or so, but idk if I’ll be scared of the needle or not. I had a fear of needles when I was younger but within the past 7 years, I’ve had many shots, blood tests, finger pricks, IVs, and I’m pretty much used to it, but idk if I can handle it weekly, and this video definitely helped me. My older brother who is 28 is also trans FtM and gets anxious when he has to get his T-shot even though he has been on T for almost 10 years now. Hopefully I don’t get as anxious as he does. Thanks for the helpful tips though!
If you guys are scared of needles, just say "I'm the manliest man, this "scary" thing is just a needle. It won't hurt at all". I think it will help you
Hey man just got my "I am Enough" T shirt in the mail! Thank you, I opened it on camera, so if you want to see the bid I'm opening it in one video and wearing it in the next! I love it!
I have huge anxiety for taking shots too. What helps me is listening to slow and soft music. It helps calm me and gives me something to focus on other than the needle.
Aydian, I really like this video. I've started to take this approach with my shots and it has changed things significantly for me as well. It's still sometimes a little nerve-wracking, but at least it's not paralyzing anymore as it was when I first started. You're such a wonderful person and I think your mindset is lovely. Keep being awesome, positive, and a good human. Much love!
I have a needle phobia as well. the thought having to get a shot or having blood drawn can make me so freaked out. after my heart attacks they had to draw blood every hour. One phlebotomist finally realized that if she used a baby needle I became less phobic about the blood having to be drawn. Then when my father was diagnosed with dementia I had to learn to give him his insulin shot three times a day. The fact of holding the shots with a needle in my hand made me so freaked out. so I applaud you for the courage to do it to yourself every week.
Yes I to have had anxiety on shot day. It became worst after I had a shot go wrong my leg was sore for two weeks since I"ve been gun shy so to speak. Thank you for your postings.
I think Its wonderful that your showing this positive reinforcement for your fear of needles, such a great way to get over your fear why hate on something that helped you so much, to feel comfortable 😀
i’m glad that blood splirting out after taking out the needle isn’t a non common thing. It’s happened to me and it’s happened to my boyfriend. I’m currently watching this before taking my shot to help with my anxiety 😂
Thank you for the advice. I will definitely remember this when I start T, hopefully soon! Wait! Is that a peacock chair I see at 0:43?!?!?!?!?!?!?!😲😲😲😲😲💙💙💙💙💙 I love peacock chairs. They are so hard to find. Luckily I found an old one a year ago. one of my most favorite chairs ever! Morticia Addams is the reason peacock chairs are awesome!
This sounds really bizarre but I listened to this video as I was doing my shot tonight and it really helped! Anxiety came out of nowhere and I seriously considered injecting my T tomorrow until I remembered that you had shared this video. Thanks Aydian, you helped this officer overcome fear. =)
This video helps me a lot. I'm about to do my 6th shot and my shot never bothered me until my 3rd and it started bleeding more than normal (nothing was wrong) but I immediately got lightheaded and scared. Since then I've gotten myself super worked up about the shots. This video helped me calm down a lot, I'm definitely going to try lifting/pinching the skin before I do it. I think I'm ready.
You guys really need to get testosterone undecanoate approved in the US. My bf is trans and he gets this as his shot and only needs it every 10 weeks, he loves it. It's called Reandron here in Australia, and Aveed in US but is not approved for trans men in the US AFAIK.
Oh my gosh. Today I had my shot and had some blood in my syringe at the end for the first time. I've been on HRT for a year and 4 months. I was terrified and message all my nurse friends. But they said I was going to be ok. So this video really helped me today. Thank you man! 😊
Samething happened with me today. I gave myself my 5th shot & towards the end once I was done a tiny dot of blood showed up in the syringe & I freaked. Literally messaged my nurse friend as well lol. Which she said I was gonna be just fine.
Can someone please tell me there's other options, shots dont just scare me, I get panic attacks seeing one, nearly passing out, and even loosing sleep b/c I thought I needed a booster from the doctor, hell even on science hw I had once I had to cut out the picture of a needle b/c I got woozy every time I saw it. So please tell me there's a different option that works? If not any mental ways to get rid of my fear, embarrassing as it is. Edit- there are patches, gels, and tablets of all kinds if there's any other dudes out there with my same phobia. Always hope!
@@lakynpayne6476 not fully sure, but i doubt its instrumental if there isba difference, since shots pump the dosage right away into your system, and the other treatements are administered differently im sure it equals the same in the end. I think the patches are to be left on 24/7 as an example
I'm so glad that I'm not the only one. I just made a FB post about how it takes me 15 minutes, on a good week, to talk myself into doing my shot. Today made my 200th shot (I missed a couple of weeks here and there due to insurance) and I still struggle, but its a struggle that I do not regret having to deal with.
I have bad anxiety during every shot day. So I totally get what you mean. Talking yourself through it helps and realizing that it will only take about 30 seconds and then it's done. Seeing blood isn't a problem for me so that also helps lol the T is the best thing that has happened to me besides my family and having a support system.
I could not watch the actual video and only listen because of my fear. i am thinking of doing t but seeing needles and immedeatly second-guess wether or not i even could
I'm in the UK, a random nurse at my doctors still does my shots, not sure why but they insist on doing it,maybe to stop folks self medding and stuff but hey ho, I spent my youth terrified about needles but hey I had a child so that went out the window pretty quick, nowi have bloods done several times a year and shots every 9 to 12 weeks...so all is good
@aloinsfears I have the same fear, but I have another question. For the .5cc merch is there still the binder included if you get a shirt or because of the Point of Pride you don't do that anymore? Sorry for asking it's just I don't know and I couldn't find the answer anywhere.
@alionsfears Ok thank you for the quick response! I've already checked it out I was just wondering if you were doing both. Thank you, I think that what you're doing is great and it's really making a lot of people's lives better. Again, thanks!
ever had someone else, someone some what "soothing" give you your injections?? only thing I can imagine is giving my dad (r.i.p.) his insulin shots ,even tho I was nervous cause I can't imagine giving someone that sort of pain.... he practically praised me cause I was the only one out of 3 people (my mom, my sis,my brother in law ) that didn't give him that "pain" ... he never felt it when I gave him his shot hahaha always a proud moment for me !
I am also a diabetic so I was already. taking a shot everyday . When I.started sub q I. started just using my insulin needles I t takes longer to draw it up but you can draw it with larger then transfer but I dont bother. Insulin needles are much shorter and finer I can do my shot in my leg or my tummy it just takes afimer grip and a lot of pressure to inject it I was also told by an old trans guy that if you take it at night it absorbes more evenly.
I just picked up my needles today and seeing them made me so queasy. I am so happy and excited but I'm really hoping I can work with that and overcome how afraid I am of them
thigh and butt are intramuscular, which typically releases faster into your system. there's no difference between the two except the butt is harder to self inject. stomach is subcutaneous aka "sub-q" and the fatty tissue allows your body to process it more naturally and slower. there's not an "optimal" spot. it's mostly which you are most comfortable with and easiest for you.
I am pre-T yet, but I have this fear of needles too. although if I start getting T I want to handel with this fear. So thank you for this video I really like your Chanel. (I am learning english, sorry about the mistakes)
Man I asked my doctor for the smaller/skinner syringe and he said no I'll be fine and to get over it 💀 I have the big and bulky 3ml syringe. My anxiety got bad where I would procrastinate all day and a few times skipped. I almost passed out once because I worked myself up over it. So now I take my shots sitting down somewhere where I can easily lay down if need be. Also sucking on a mint I find helps a little. But I just really want a smaller syringe. I hate feeling like a whimp over something so small lmao
I have such a weird relationship with my t shots. Usually I go into a walk in clinic to get it done, but I'm at the point that the nurses are teaching me to do it myself, so I'm basically doing it entirely on my own, but with a nurse there, and I have no problems with it there. But I also have extra syringes at home in case I dont have time to wait in a clinic so I can do it myself. But when I need to do it on my own, alone, at home, Its so hard to convince myself to go thru with it. It's entirely a mental thing which is weird cause I know I shouldn't be afraid, but my hand will not make the move to inject. Its gotten to the point that I'm just sitting there pantsless, alone, needle hovering over my thigh for so long I get bored and give up
if you inject into the buttcheek you should ask if you can use an even smaller needle. I use an 18g 5/8 needle to my injections and never had a problem
I’m glad I already know how to give shots bc my dog is diabetic and I give her 2 shots a day. And my mom is a medical assistant so when I start t if I’m too scared at first she can help me😂
i know i'm going on t one day, i like getting shots and my blood drawn(weird i know), i'm just so scared of giving myself them, worst case scenario i'd have a friend help if i can't get over it by the time i go on t any one relate?
I can't wait to get on testosterone, but I don't know if I'll ever be able to do my own shot. I'll have to, probably, but I'm just so terrified of needles that even the thought of it right now, with the possibility of T still years away, is making me sweat and my heart rate increase. I just don't know, man. I just don't know.
Okay listen up. I spent 4 hours naked in my livingroom psyching myself out and back into doing my first self injection (testosterone for bodybuilding but same shit) ANYWAY, I’m shitting myself. Eventually for whatever reason I started to pierce my thigh slowly, realised that the initial pinch I couldn’t feel at all! Then I was slowly putting it in when the first tiny sign of push back (muscle probably) I withdrew and took me another 2 hours to try again. I marked an area of my upper butt cheek and finally did the same thing but this time, when it was in my butt I decided to push it a little bit harder and it went in like butter. No I’m not exaggerating, butter. All the way in with no fuss whatsoever. When I say no pain, I literally mean absolutely none. Someone could have done that to me whilst I was watching TV and I wouldn’t have known. For anyone who’s psyching themselves out like I have all day today, you will not believe you silly you’ll feel after the needle is all the way in and out. I now have the rest of the day to laugh at myself. I do highly recommend watching a glute injection tutorial, I’m still baffled how painless and quick it was.
When I get on T I'm probably going to get the gel because I'm TERRIFIED of needles. Honestly, I have to get an injection for cancer or something like that next Friday and another one in 6 months and I'm so scared I don't really wanna get it but I know I have to ;-;
Exactly ... I'm a 215 lb man ... Why the hell am I scared of a one ounce needle ....

I emailed you a while ago, you responded which made me happy. I started T today.
this was super helpful cuz i've always wondered how the community deals with anxiety from needles! thank you thank you thank you!!! ❤❤
I'm terrified of that thing. My friend has to give me mine. When I saw it for the first time I went into a full blown panic attack and started crying.
Goth Bi Trans Guy not trying to be funny or mean but I'm shocked a Goth is afraid of needles
I have my mom inject my T shot 😂 I'm to scared to do it by myself
My mom is transphobic so I’m gonna make my friend do it lol
@@Letmebecringe what are you a transgender?
@@kan50805 are you tarded
when I did my first shot I was soooo anxious but I basically just watched a video of a nurse doing a shot and it helped so much haha
But is it the same strength/efficiency as needles?
@@lakynpayne6476 not fully sure, but i doubt its instrumental if there isba difference, since shots pump the dosage right away into your system, and the other treatements are administered differently im sure it equals the same in the end. I think the patches are to be left on 24/7 as an example
@@alexanderadkins2391 yeah that's a fair point, I feel like some kind of tablets would be the next best thing.
see i’m not afraid of needles but stabbing,, im too slow with putting it in and then it hurts too much cuz i’m a wuss
Your an inspiration can't wait to start my shots so I can work out as hard as you and get the body I want so I can show my subscribers ..
I need to grow a pair and just do it you know lmfao but I get nervous that ima fuck up
I have bad anxiety during every shot day. So I totally get what you mean. Talking yourself through it helps and realizing that it will only take about 30 seconds and then it's done. Seeing blood isn't a problem for me so that also helps lol the T is the best thing that has happened to me besides my family and having a support system.
I could not watch the actual video and only listen because of my fear. i am thinking of doing t but seeing needles and immedeatly second-guess wether or not i even could
im literally using this to do exposure therapy lol
I started t three months ago, and now that the "excitement" of starting testosterone has worn off, it's scarier and scarier to take my shot.
MeepdoesMC the wizard check out PointofPride.org for FREE BInders
@alionsfears Ok thank you for the quick response! I've already checked it out I was just wondering if you were doing both. Thank you, I think that what you're doing is great and it's really making a lot of people's lives better.
Again, thanks!
I'm really scared to do my shots but this video is actually really calming so thank you so much!! xx
Thank you so much! The shower thing really works! Made it so easy!!
I just play music, bite my lip and get it over with. 5 years later I just hate doing it because it's inconvenient.
ever had someone else, someone some what "soothing" give you your injections?? only thing I can imagine is giving my dad (r.i.p.) his insulin shots ,even tho I was nervous cause I can't imagine giving someone that sort of pain.... he practically praised me cause I was the only one out of 3 people (my mom, my sis,my brother in law ) that didn't give him that "pain" ... he never felt it when I gave him his shot hahaha always a proud moment for me !
Love this beautifully said, Ty
I watched this last night and I got my first shot this morning. I was terrified of the needle but have been walking on air since
I am also a diabetic so I was already. taking a shot everyday .
I’m like 2 or 3 years away from taking it but I’m not going to stop no going to stop till I get my shot
I'm so glad my boyfriend is willing to do it for me
I just picked up my needles today and seeing them made me so queasy. I am so happy and excited but I'm really hoping I can work with that and overcome how afraid I am of them
Thanks it helped me do my first one on my own
Currently crying my eyes out rn trying to do my t shot after not doing it for a while
Straight up literally everything I do before a t shot. And now I got the same size needle Lmfaooo
I go to my first consultation with my Endo in August and I'm honestly having a panic attack thinking about the injections
I just do mine as quickly as possible and don’t give myself time to think about it so I don’t get freaked out
i just did my first shot and i was FREEEAAKING out the whole time!! ohhh man
what's the optimal spot? Stomach? Thigh? Butt?
thigh and butt are intramuscular, which typically releases faster into your system. there's no difference between the two except the butt is harder to self inject. stomach is subcutaneous aka "sub-q" and the fatty tissue allows your body to process it more naturally and slower. there's not an "optimal" spot. it's mostly which you are most comfortable with and easiest for you.
Thank you so much for these videos
Its gotten to the point that I'm just sitting there pantsless, alone, needle hovering over my thigh for so long I get bored and give up
this is exactly my case, i’m a year on T but only 15 and i just cant make the final action myself, has it gotten better for you?
if you inject into the buttcheek you should ask if you can use an even smaller needle. I use an 18g 5/8 needle to my injections and never had a problem
I don’t have a fear of needles but my hands shake really bad, does anyone have any tips for stabilizing my hands?
Doing your shots in the Glut or in your Quads? And Changed Left and Ride Site?
I’m glad I already know how to give shots bc my dog is diabetic and I give her 2 shots a day. And my mom is a medical assistant so when I start t if I’m too scared at first she can help me😂
i know i'm going on t one day, i like getting shots and my blood drawn(weird i know), i'm just so scared of giving myself them, worst case scenario i'd have a friend help if i can't get over it by the time i go on t
any one relate?
Yes, my boyfriend Gates it, so I do his for him
I can't wait to get on testosterone, but I don't know if I'll ever be able to do my own shot. I'll have to, probably, but I'm just so terrified of needles that even the thought of it right now, with the possibility of T still years away, is making me sweat and my heart rate increase. I just don't know, man. I just don't know.
I've been on T for 15 months and I have a really hard time doing my shot. I have to have my wife or my best friend do it for me.
How can know that you don't hit a vein?
Try pulling the plunger back just a bit. If it is difficult, there is only flesh. If there is a flash of liquid red, that's a vein and blood.
DUDE! I literally just thought of getting a tattoo so I know where to inject 😂🤣😂
I'm not even out yet and I'm terrified of the needles
Okay listen up. I spent 4 hours naked in my livingroom psyching myself out and back into doing my first self injection (testosterone for bodybuilding but same shit)
ANYWAY, I’m shitting myself.
I have to get drunk before I do mine. If I dont I end up sticking it in halfway before pulling it out repeatedly then giving up
I’m not scared of the needle, I’m scared of missing the muscle.
Ye I wouldn't want to hate my shot either mainly because it's something I want ...
it happens to everyone..
No matter how many years we are in hormone
When you start shots, is it okay to just decide you feel you can't do shots anymore and switch to pills instead without consequences?
Exactly what i needed
When I start taking my shots next month I do kind of feel nervous but I have a lot of tattoos so I don't think it should be that bad ..
When I get on T I'm probably going to get the gel because I'm TERRIFIED of needles.
Honestly, I have to get an injection for cancer or something like that next Friday and another one in 6 months and I'm so scared I don't really wanna get it but I know I have to ;-;
