@@DoRC i talked to my Makerfire rep who says a v2 is like a month away (this was after my video, but there’s no way they could make all the changes that people have been mentioning in anything close to that time). Just in case, I posted that people maybe shouldn’t order yet until we know what’s going on). I went off the email too because it makes sense to collect info for the inevitable v2, which like you have said would likely be far away. There was no indication it would be soon. I emailed my actual mjx rep but haven’t heard back in 5 days.
@@DerbyCityRCThey appeared plenty on Ali! It seemd mjx is just adding minor fixes, no way a proper suspension fix is a mere two months away. This truck looks like the epithome of "damn you were so close, why?"
@@RinkaiKouen I know!! Why didn’t they just finish. Since they seemed to know about the issues, why go ahead and send them out. Getting it in front of eyes is good, but the unfinished product has turned some people away I’m sure.
Yeah I'm not entirely sure what the deal with the different versions are I just know that MJX told me unequivocally that car that was sent out to reviewers is the car that people will get when they buy it. They are considering an updated version sometime in the future but it's not something they're actively working on right now.
@@-Astro-- did you watch the video? According to MJX you're going to be waiting a while. There was a lot of confusion based on some emails that were sent but according to them the version that we reviewed is the version that's being released and there is no V2 coming anytime soon.
Definitely want to see the upgrades! Especially a walk through on swapping servo and the saver. Would love to hear your thought process on why you chose the servo and considerations we should keep in mind when looking to upgrade on our cars. Thank you!
Dang brou you hit it out the park again. awesome review and tear down. as usually, your videos are detailed and has great pointers. I tell ya, im perty new to the making of videos on youtube. it's not easy!! It take a lot of time ,energy, charisma, and know how to make one. your videos always impress me to no end. thank you for your time and energy producing videos and your channel. now that i patted you on the back, lol...Yes I love to see a upgraded version of the MJX. Have Fun
Yeah I think unless you're actually making videos it's really hard to understand what goes into it. The goal of the end product is to make it seem effortless but a lot of effort goes into doing that!
You are a very good wrencher. I totally agree with the MIP bits, I got them cause of you and noticed the difference. If they priced it $50 less they deff would have more sales.
Cool video! You mentioned that you wash your vehicles after using them. I’d be interested in seeing a video on how you clean and maintain your vehicles..? Really enjoy your channel!
Dude your RC car review videos are the best! A full tear down, speed run and bash in one video and under 15 minutes. The RC car itself looks very promising indeed. I should be able to get this off Banggood for under $500 NZD which is $250 NZD cheaper than the MT10 which IMO is it's closest rival (no pun intended) The MT10 actually outperforms the MJX on 2s and 3s so that's a cost saving but the MJX having a 4s capable drivetrain opens it up to soooo many possibilities. Thanks for such an awesome video mate 👍
Yeah this thing is pretty versatile. On 3S it's nice and tame and good for just general banging around but on 4S it really wakes up. I'm interested to see what it can do with an even better ESC though.
Well of course we want to see this truck upgraded 👍 Best video I have seen so far on this one. Loved the deep dive into the components. It's great to MJX getting into the 1/10 game. However, I like them as a budget brand, they are competing with the big boys now, and the price isn't bargain. Will be cool to see how this stacks up long term 👍
I think whatever a company does, there will always be negatives about the build and the tougher they make them the more extreme things will be done so always pushing the envelope. But most rcers do not drive like that as it will become very expensive hobby 🙃 but I do understand that these tests do push the hobby on in every way. Great video 🎉new subscriber 😊
Absolutely. I try to point out in all of my videos that my experience does not inherently represent the median experience and especially towards the end of the videos I'm intentionally trying to break things.
Ive seen that the different mounting holes on the motor mount itself was for different sized pinions so that you could change the gearing. I would imagine just going to a 3200 KV motor or going up on the pinion would get it into the 40-50 range on 3S
Excellent video. You did what everyone is waiting for... a better version of the mjx 10208. Unfortunately for me it passes by because it is no longer a low price to buy, €250 is a lot of money🫣. I really like this new RC but for this price I'm just watching😅.
Where as I agree that the upgrades I did improve the vehicle I wouldn't say the stock vehicle is bad. It's not perfect but I think it's worth the asking price.
Awesome video and tear down man ... looks like a wicked little basher but dam thats a lot of work getting them diffs out 😅 im still gonna have to get myself one
I do enjoy the deep dives. It looks like a mostly okay 1/10 scale rig. It's definitely not something I would buy but I can kinda see the market they are after. The smaller RC they put out seem pretty tough can't wait to see you bash this guy.
I have mine coming any day now. I see a lot of heat on the car, but I’ll judge for myself. All the other cars I have from them are really solid. I guess. Also look at it as it’s I’m not looking for perfection. It’s not an investment that I’m gonna bash it destroy it Almost 50 maybe not for young kid. I’m new to the hobby only started buying cars due 15th of this year and I bought over 40 of them. 40. I’ll make a video shortly. It’s not gonna be as detailed. I’m just showing you what I like about it and I’m not dissecting it, etc. Great video by the way
I think most of the negativity around the car was based on the misconception that what people were reviewing wasn't what was going to be sold. The car is decent especially for the price. You'll enjoy it :-)
yeah, the 10208 is definitely impressive, but in my opinion it is a bit slow considering how freaking big the motor is :D I really wanna see the upgrades, and one of them should undoubtedly be a better esc! Can't wait for the vid with upgrades, cheers!
A lot of reviewers love the MJX. But...Several have had issues with it...Which makes me think one of two things is happening. Either your truck is different or the quality control is way off. Other than that it looks decent. But If I was in the market for a 1:10 truck I would buy a Granite or Vorteks for just $30 more. Better quality, more aftermarket support , and just as fast on 3S as the MJX is on 4S. I may buy one eventually but i'm going to need to see some consensus.
For any car you see there are going to be people who have problems with it. We all bash differently and some people just get really unlucky. I try to give a good average experience in bashing that will represent kind of the upper limit of what most people will do and that usually ends up breaking at least something. If a car survives that test completely it generally means it's going to be pretty decent. I know there's a lot of qualifiers in there but there's exceptions to everything :-) overall I think this is going to be a good car.
@@DoRC I was not critiquing your video and I am aware of all the different "levels" of bashing/reviewing. My point was that some reviewers never did any jumps over a couple of feet and had issues. Others ran the truck on grass and it rolled over constantly. Most everyone but you had constant issues with the body flying off. Something is up. I'm not accusing anyone or MJX of anything...just saying something is fishy.
@@rantsandreviews interesting. Yeah I wasn't taking offense or anything like that I was just explaining my methodology. That being said I can only report on my own experience. I did have the body pop off a couple of times but nothing unexpected for a clipless body. I usually don't watch other people's reviews before making my own as I don't want them to influence my opinion but I will check them out.
As long as the ground clearance is good for normal to heavy off-road bashing I'm fine with that, I do know a lot of people are complaining about the travel of the suspension but i dont mind to much about that since i dont jump vehicles 20 ft in the air. 👍🏻
Yeah I don't know. It doesn't have the droop that other monster trucks do but that has its advantages and disadvantages. Obviously it's not going to be able to absorb big jumps as well but it's also going to handle better on the ground because it's not going to have as much body roll. Personally at least in my experience it handled jump landing just fine. Anything above about 10 ft in the air it got a little bouncy on but a lot of cars do and again this isn't a very big car.
@@DoRC Judging from the jumps that you were hitting and Landing I think this truck would be a great for my driving preference and the terrain I use since rarely even hit jumps as high as those so for me it checks all the boxes!, thanks again for the awesome video ✌
@@SoundStream101 Yeah I think for general bashing it'll be just fine. I'm not quite sure how to describe it but especially on 3S this is one of the more friendly driving cars I've experienced. It's just easy and fun. It really likes to land on its wheels which is an extremely underrated characteristic as far as I'm concerned.
Man that's a tough one. I'd say it depends on what you already have. The tyrants is a fairly normal buggy and the machete is a pretty large low slung truggy. If you don't have a buggy maybe get the tyrants but if you do I'd say get the machete.
I would just go ahead and buy one. Whereas there might be another version coming out at some point the manufacturer is not actively working on one for release.
For me personally, I have little interest in this truck. However, I'll be the first one in line to try the 1/10 on road version of this chassis (should they make it). I'm really hopeful that they will do what they did with the 14301, 14302, and 14303 and use the chassis to make an on road car. Love to see something other than an infraction clone.
That acceleration certainly didn't look like the constant standing backflips in the promo video from MJX. Other videos the body identified as my Xmaxx and popped off at the slightest hint of an impact. I heard somewhere that MJX told them to avoid 4s until the tires and wheels were updated because there were tire failures from being to thin. Everyone drives and test differently but it's rare that the results are so varied on a truck. Usually the big differences in opinion are down to personal preference. Heck, Tomley got info from somewhere that caused him to not even properly test the truck he was sent. These newer or smaller companies seem to be unable to avoid shooting themselves in the foot when building and releasing bigger rigs. A little more testing and a lot more silence until the trucks are really ready for delivery, or at least final production, would help a lot. Many folks will write off a company forever based on one bad experience and at the moment we're flush for choices. If these new guys are giving up their lower price advantage to compete with the more established companies it's more important they get things right. It seems they are rushing a bit and i fear that's gonna be a detriment to them and customers. I want them to succeed and continue building bigger and better trucks. I go out of my way to support companies trying new things and pushing innovation in the hobby so I'll buy this one and the next. A lot of folks won't if the first time isn't a good experience.
Yeah I can't really report on other people's experiences but I can say for my own experience that the car seems to be perfectly capable of handling 4S and whereas the body does pop off occasionally it didn't seem nearly as bad as the X-Max and even when the back came off It didn't come off completely so I was able to drive it back over to myself to reseat it. As far as versions and whatnot The reason this video is delayed is because I was making absolutely sure I actually know what I was talking about and according to MJX the car is being reviewed are the cars that will be shipped. They are not actively working on a new version that's going to be coming out anytime soon so this is the car. I suspect the ESC was changed or at least default settings in the ESC were changed from that original test video. I am curious to put a different ESC in this and see how it behaves.
Yup. I wrote off MJX when I owned the H14BM. The body and steering linkage shed hexes that got lost in the dirt. Used nonstandard thread design. I emailed MJX and they claimed spares were sent out. 7 weeks later I'm still waiting. Meanwhile I returned the truck, got a Granite BLX. My servo on Granite went bad. Horizon Hobby shipped me a new one next day airmail. I'm happy to pay more for a 2 year warranty that actually works. My Felony had a bad receiver and servo. Got those next day air mail too. MJX makes a lot of questionable decisions in their larger vehicles. Those hexes wouldn't stay put even with LocTite. And I didn't even jump it. Unfortunately, according to inside sources, these TH-camrs were not only given a free truck, but are given money to give good reviews on these new vehicles. Kinda skews their objectivity.
@@Boogie_the_cat Wait we were supposed to get money? I didn't get any money. Who am I supposed to contact for that? Seriously though I've never been paid for any review I've ever done. I get free stuff occasionally but I actually pay full price for most of the stuff you see on the channel. MJX had absolutely no say in my videos and didn't even see them before they were published. Actually they didn't even ask to see them before they were published which some companies do.
Lmao, now DisciplineRc has a video out saying his rep told him there is definitely a V2 and these were indeed test units. I seriously think there's a translation problem or if not definitely internal communications issues. I watched one video on this truck where the box listed limiting straps, straight axles and 4 link suspension for this truck. I think whoever designed that box is also the PR rep for MJX. I'll still buy one but I'm gonna wait for everyone to agree on exactly what I'm buying. No rush, I've already got enough RC cars that some go months without being driven. I just hope the platform is a success and leads to more new vehicles. I've got much more time to buy them than i do drive them.
I watched his video and he's referring to the same email we all got when we were sent these vehicles. That email is what Phil was also quoting and that's part of the misunderstanding according to the direct communication I had with MJX.
@@DoRC wow. Oh well. Everyone will eventually get on the same page. As long a we all get a great truck at the end all this will be forgotten. Until their next new release at least.
@boduke9428 Yeah it seems like I'm the only person that actually took the time to contact MJX and figure out what was going on. That's why my video was delayed. I was very confused just like everybody else was. Of course I'm just repeating what I was told from them so it's as accurate as the person who told it to me is.
@@DoRC which is a great example of why so many of us listen and respect your opinions. You're not like that Beyond Whinebag channel who got his and immediately proclaimed it the best basher you can buy in 2024 even though it's not and you can't yet. He's all about clicks and nothing but then whine and cry victim rather than just admit being wrong. .
@boduke9428 Well I don't want to get into judging other channels but I do try to be as honest as possible. Of course we all have our biases and I'm not immune to that but I do my best!
@DoRC oh wow, makerfire was $250 shipped with an additional 7% coupon the other day ($230 shipped)... now they and aliexpress are $260. Are you in the 10208 grewp?
I put my order in and already want to upgrade it. So for sure make that video with the upgrades. I kinda want to make it wider like I did with my 1410 v3
This car looks very cool and interesting but I think it’s not as good as an Arrma Granite! 🤔 but very cool Video! Greeting from Germany from Cobra RC 🤙🏽
Maybe yes maybe no. The granite has had three versions to get perfected and this still has some features that it doesn't such as a center differential which I think is really nice. It's also got a clipless body arguably better steering steel axles and some other bits and pieces that the granite doesn't have.
I like this little guy, he is built Ford tuff ! seriously though I would love to see you upgrade this bad boy! also , how many inches is the center drive shaft ?
I'm so confused now, V1, V1.1, V2 🤷🏻 who knows anymore. One thing MJX have done intentionally or not is cause confusing and doubt not a good marketing strategy...Great video by the way 👍
When you take all of the confusion away it's pretty straightforward. They had sent out some early samples to people in China. They made some updates based on those early samples which are represented in both the review units that you've seen on TH-cam and what is being sold. The email that was sent out with those review units mentioned getting feedback for a version 2 but that was not related to this current release. Essentially what you see is what you will get.
Hmmm. This or the quantum 2 flux mt? I can't decide.. Quantum 2 is 299€ and available locally. The MJX is 219€ on Ali and would arrive in September... Especially unsure about replacement parts in 1-2 years time.
Maverick is HPI so I think you're more likely to have parts availability with it. I'd say they're reasonably comparable as far as how overall good of a car they are. I'd probably go with the Maverick just because you can get it right away but it is more expensive.
Interesting... The email I got from MJX says that they are aware of the short shock stroke and are looking at fixing the issue, meanwhile, they are wanting feedback from reviewers so they can make a "V2". Tomley RC claims this may not be the truck people buy and as such, he has refused to review the truck. I have also emailed MJX with a list of things they can do to make this a much better truck, some of which you touched on, but I'm yet to hear back from them. My unboxing is done, my running vids are done, I just need to edit and upload, but have a bunch of other vids awaiting release as well, so I may need to fast track this one to keep up with what's going on. Good tare-down of the truck and showing its innards. I'm not surprised to see grease in the diffs. Disappointed all the same, but not surprised... The radio is terrible for this truck and I swapped it out before I even ran mine. And like you, I didn't break mine either. Not yet anyway... Gonna try and gear it up next and see if I can find some longer shocks.
Yeah that's the same email everybody got. I think it was ambiguous and combined with the fact that one of the early videos discussed a V2 it led people to believe that what we got wasn't the release version but I actually delayed releasing this video in order to double verify with my MJX rep that what we got is what's being sold. Of course that is just information I'm relaying so it's as valid as the information I got. It also makes sense given the timeline. It seems kind of unlikely that they would gather feedback, design develop prototype QC produce and ship a revised product in just a couple of weeks. But I'm honestly not disappointed in that as I'm happy with the current model and even without longer shocks etc It's still is a pretty good truck. It handles well and is durable.
i saw other reviewers complaining about the truck landing really hard on jumps, did your copy experience that? i also noticed your "retail" version seems to be tamed downed compared to the test samples
I don't think mine is any different from the other people who got them for review. It lands about as hard as you would expect it to land for a 1/10 scale truck with fairly limited suspension travel. I'd say it's kind of middle of the road and even from 10 ft up does not really seem to bounce much.
Yeah most servos lie about their specs. I was just calling it a 35 kg because that's what most people are used to calling this particular type of servo
Yeah. That's a bummer. I verified multiple times with my contact at the company that the version they sent us was the version they were going to be shipping and technically for those that bought it straight from the site originally That is the case but it would have been nice if they had told me that 3 months later they were going to be coming out with an updated version.
In my somewhat limited experience it appears to be pretty durable. If you're going to be doing super hardcore bashing like 20 ft in the air at a skatepark you're definitely going to end up breaking it but just for normal having fun and bashing around it should be fine
How does it hold up against the Rlaarlo Omni terminator? I gues this one is bigger, I like the programable ESC, but it has nog Gyro is that a necessary to have a gyro in these kind of cars?
I'd say they're fairly similar. The OT is definitely a more refined design but they're both good. I can't really give much of an opinion on gyros as I don't use them on anything. I don't think they're necessary but some people really like them.
I could never run this regular in my yard I run Arrmas so I have all parts on hand usually no way around high maintenance 😂, 1650kv motor seized, I took apart amount crap in there crazy , I didn’t have those size bearings my pov at what point do you trash the Rc because time is money , I spent few hours doing diffs and bushings on TLR typhon last night , I figure I keep rebuilding till electronics shot I wouldn’t put new electronics in a arrma with over 100 hours of use . These Rcs are ok but I stick name brands I’m going get the reflex 14b today
Yeah there's definitely something to be said for that point of view. If I were only going to have one or two bashers they would almost certainly be very common name brand ones simply because I know parts availability will be there and upgrades will be there. It is good to see decent cars coming from different brands though. Competition is good for everyone
Seems to be a lot of confusion surrounding this car. @TomleyRC is under the impression this is a version 1 and a version 2 will be released shortly for the masses.
Yes there is quite a bit of confusion out there but like I said I got my information directly from MJX asking them very specific questions to clarify the confusion. According to MJX in no uncertain terms the car you saw in the video is the car you will get if you buy one. They are considering the possibility of an updated version in the future but what we got for review is the version that will be sold. Again this is according to MJX directly so I'm just relaying that information. There was a lot of confusion due to some test versions that came out in China apparently but that's what they told me.
So is this water proof brother? Im looking for it and trying to compare it with 14210. Also brother can you help me im thinking of getting an 14210 but is it worth to get that 10208? Cause the price is almost double and im still a student so should i get that 10208 or i can just get 14210 get the same fun?
It's not listed as waterproof anywhere I could find so I can't guarantee that it is. I did get the ESC wet when I washed it and it didn't kill it but again no guarantees. I think this is a better car than the 14210 and it's also a more versatile car because it's larger so you're going to be able to run it more places. I would say it's also easier to work on so it definitely has some advantages.
If i order now ..today one in aliexpress..... What version they send me? Are all order right now is preorders??? Only reviewers has this car earlier??? And which is better deal??? Only car 190€ or car + 5200mah li-po 3s 230€??? They are best deals right now....or if i was no hurry...i am not🙂 better wait ..i said next year what they offer.
There's only one version being sold. The version you will get is the version in this video. I'm not sure where or when it will come off of pre-order. I would probably recommend buying a battery locally unless they're really expensive there. The batteries that come with them are decent but not really anything special.
I never got the 787. I got the other one that it's based off of which I was pretty happy with though on road really isn't my thing. Unfortunately I can't really give you much of an opinion on this specific model though.
@@TA-8787 Yeah that's always a tough one. I'd love to see more parts support for smaller companies but it just never quite seems to happen. As long as it company themselves make parts readily available online though I think it's not too much of a problem
That's a tough one. I would say right now the OT just because it's been out longer more is known about it and there are a bunch of upgrades available. When this becomes a more known quantity I may end up recommending this instead. It is hard to know how a vehicle's going to do long-term when only a handful of reviewers have only had a handful of days to use it.
Maybe. This thing handles pretty well off-road and the higher you jack up the suspension the more likely it is to end up on its lid. If you're doing really big air then yeah you could use a bit more down travel but for just general bashing it feels pretty good at least it does to me
Somehow 1/10 getting bigger and bigger with 1/8 motor and 1/5 drive shafts and I'm over here sitting waiting for a smaller 1/10 that will be closer to 1/12, but with all 1/10 parts.
@@IsaacSchultz-lz8jc Yeah I guess I'm old school and I prefer just having a nice sliding mount range of motion but things like specific holes and the pin system definitely do simplify it for people who don't want to mess with mesh.
Someone tell traxxas to stop greasing their diffs too. The slash & rustler 4x4 and the 2wd vxl models with the 272R gearbox still get grease. I believe the front diffs get fluid.
Yeah it's kind of ridiculous. I can't imagine a few drops of silicon oil costs any more than a dab of grease and it certainly makes life a lot easier for us
Yep between having good bits and making sure the sockets of the screws are clean I would say at least 3/4 of all stripped screws in this hobby could be avoided
You know I thought that before I actually used it but now that I've run it I disagree. To me the proofs in the pudding and this thing handles well and lands jumps well for the size of truck that it is. Maybe more suspension travel would be even better but more suspension travel also would cause more body roll and probably worse off-road handling.
Not sure that's true. It's very likely simply a gearing issue that causes lower performance on 3S. This has a larger motor than most 1/10 scale vehicles and because it's for us compatible they had to conservatively gear it for 3S.
@@DoRC You can gear anything to do certain speeds, we're talking about stock for stock here. Plus the vast majority of people looking for a budget 1/10 don't wanna mess with that. They should have geared it right from the factory and only have 4s as an overkill option. Not to mention 3s is already insane on most 1/10s. There was no reason to use an even bigger motor. Overall it feels more like a marketing stunt or sheer incompetence, rather than a well thought out decision.
@@CptAngelKGaming I suppose it just depends on your point of view. If this thing is 4S compatible then it's made for 4S. I feel like what you're saying would be similar to putting a Traxxas maxx on 3S and then saying it has terrible performance. Yeah it would on 3S but It's a 4S truck.
@@DoRC No it's definitely not the same simply because it's an 1/10 vehicle that performs much worse than all other 1/10s and needs stronger batteries to reach them, which is also completely unecessary for a 1/10. Might as well make a 1/16 vehicle that needs 6s to perform like other 1/16s. Who cares just use the bigger battery right? Come on.. Similar to your example, that would be like releasing a Traxxas Maxx that needs 6s to perform like every other 1/8 does on 4s. Not to mention people that shop for budget 1/10s definitely don't wanna spend extra cash for 4s batteries. Most of them will even go for 2s if they can get away with it. 2s on this car probably performs like a brushed motor.. This is a "budget" 1/10 that's already not that cheap and needs expensive 4s batteries to perform like other 1/10s.. Compare it to something like a Maverick Quantum that's the same price, or paying slightly more for an MT10 or so and it makes 0 sense.
@@CptAngelKGaming Yeah I guess we all have different opinions on it. Personally I like the option for being more tame on 3S and more powerful on 4S. The larger motor is also under stressed in this vehicle which means you're probably never going to have to worry about it overheating. I can't really say that for some other 1/10 scale cars. It's all just my opinion though and my opinion is worth as much as anybody else is. Be sure to check out my latest video though as It handled the upgrades pretty well!
MJX falls in customer service. I had body hexes and steering linkage hexes fall out in the first few runs. They got lost in the dirt. They were non standard threads. I emailed MJX, who claimed they shipped me out spares. Seven weeks later I'm still waiting. Arrna customer service experience: my steering servo went bad. Horizon Hobby shipped me a new one next day airmail. A real 2 year warranty that actually works is worth the extra $30 for my Granite. I returned the H14BM. MJX give a f**k about a warranty.
That's a bummer to hear. Unfortunately that's the same story I've heard a bunch of times for pretty much all of the Chinese brands. To be fair though I've also heard that story about Traxxas and horizon though not quite as often.
Goofy build on MJX’s part. No idea why they used grease in the front and rear diffs, and the captured nuts leaves something to be desired. Some positive things to say, but I see no reason to buy this over the OT.
That's a tough one. This is quite a bit bigger than the OT which to me puts it in a different category of basher. Fortunately the grease thing isn't that big of a deal as it does still work fine with it and the diffs are sealed so you can fix it if you want to. I don't mind the captured nuts but they need to switch over to nyloc nuts so they don't end up risking stripping out. I only had one of them do it but that's still one too many.
Nothing about this RC car is cool. They are using anyone who dumps far too much money on this POS as testers for the V2 that they are already working on. $300 to be a tester is ridiculous. I might invest if it was half the retail price but at full price this is no longer a budget car when I can spend $30 more for a brand name that has parts availability and won’t break easily. Hard pass for me.
It depends where you focus is. My focus is on 1/8 and 1/7 scale right now Arrma and there 3 and 4s. I have 1/10 scales less expensive that would be at the pants off this new up start. For 300 in change I got a Felony roller, add my parts and go have fun. Yes an Arrma Vorteks is a 60mph 1/10 scale.
Sure you got the roller for 300 but how much was the equivalent value in parts you added to it to make it RTR. Having the parts on hand is nice but someone paid for them at some point.
Yeah parts will always be a bit more of a challenge on these cars than on first party options but usually it's not too bad. This being a completely new platform meaning that it'll probably be a bit more difficult at least at first though.
Before driving it I kind of felt the same way but this thing is actually pretty good and where as I wish it was less apparently some places it is going to be cheaper so that could make it an even better deal.
The confusion between different mjx reps is insane lol We will find out at some point I guess. Great video man!!
Have you personally talked to an MJX rep about it? It seems like most people are just going off of the email that was sent out with the cars.
Oh and btw, to give you all an idea. Here in Japan this is now like 0.4x the price of a granite 😮
@@RinkaiKouen I know!! Why didn’t they just finish. Since they seemed to know about the issues, why go ahead and send them out. Getting it in front of eyes is good, but the unfinished product has turned some people away I’m sure.
This is the best video on this truck yet. Since your body stayed on, I'd say you got the v1.1 and not the test version we recieved. You rock!
BTW I added this to the 10208 grewp
Yeah I'm not entirely sure what the deal with the different versions are I just know that MJX told me unequivocally that car that was sent out to reviewers is the car that people will get when they buy it. They are considering an updated version sometime in the future but it's not something they're actively working on right now.
😂👍
Waiting for the soon released V2
@@-Astro-- did you watch the video? According to MJX you're going to be waiting a while. There was a lot of confusion based on some emails that were sent but according to them the version that we reviewed is the version that's being released and there is no V2 coming anytime soon.
Definitely want to see the upgrades! Especially a walk through on swapping servo and the saver. Would love to hear your thought process on why you chose the servo and considerations we should keep in mind when looking to upgrade on our cars.
Thank you!
Sounds good. If this video does well enough i'll definitely do a follow up!
Thanks for the detailed breakdown and clearing up the confusion. Impressive 100a 4s ESC.
Yeah it's not too bad though it is one of the things I'm going to replace in the upgrade video. Stay tuned!
From what I've heard there are places you can get it for around $260.
Cool video! You mentioned that you wash your vehicles after using them. I’d be interested in seeing a video on how you clean and maintain your vehicles..? Really enjoy your channel!
Stay tuned to have something coming on that :-)
Would watch the wash! :)
@@just.jose.youtube stay tuned :-)
Would definitely like to see a video on this!
@SoundStream101 sounds good :-)
Dude your RC car review videos are the best!
I think with some setting changes in the app it should perform better
Well of course we want to see this truck upgraded 👍 Best video I have seen so far on this one. Loved the deep dive into the components. It's great to MJX getting into the 1/10 game. However, I like them as a budget brand, they are competing with the big boys now, and the price isn't bargain. Will be cool to see how this stacks up long term 👍
You won't have long to wait :-) stay tuned!
Nice deep dive, Kenny. I have been bashing mine hard also, and i have yet to break a single part.
Yeah I got a couple bruises on mine but nothing I would consider a breakage and it's taken quite a few very bad landings.
@@DoRC Same here.
Yes. That's what those holes are for I was just saying that you can't adjust the mesh specifically for a given gear.
its around 230usd in aliexpress tho, anyway as always awesome video, really appreciate the teardown before the bash!
Yeah I've heard the pricing is all over the place. That's a pretty decent discount!
Yeah it's quite a hassle especially compared to something like the new quantum twos that I just reviewed.
I do enjoy the deep dives. It looks like a mostly okay 1/10 scale rig. It's definitely not something I would buy but I can kinda see the market they are after. The smaller RC they put out seem pretty tough can't wait to see you bash this guy.
There's a good amount of bashing in this video but I'll be doing more in the next one coming soon :-)
@@DoRC it did take a pretty good bashing. I just hadn't made it that far yet.
@RoostedFilms gotcha!
Awesome review video !!!
Thanks glad you enjoyed!
You'll enjoy it :-)
yeah, the 10208 is definitely impressive, but in my opinion it is a bit slow considering how freaking big the motor is :D
I really wanna see the upgrades, and one of them should undoubtedly be a better esc!
Can't wait for the vid with upgrades, cheers!
Stay tuned :-)
I still have to watch video. You always broadcast good content.
I think you'll enjoy it :-)
A lot of reviewers love the MJX.
Lots of maxx vibes here. The honey comb pattern in the bottom of the chassis, the clipless design, even the durability.
Yeah though I will say I think this handles a lot better out of the box than the max.
Not too much into this one.. I think my next buy is either a machete 6s or that tyrants 4s..
Which would you go with having driven both?
Man that's a tough one. I'd say it depends on what you already have. The tyrants is a fairly normal buggy and the machete is a pretty large low slung truggy. If you don't have a buggy maybe get the tyrants but if you do I'd say get the machete.
glad to see that the receiver can be replaced!
Yeah all the electronics on this car are standard.
Great review as usual
Thanks glad you enjoyed!
good stuff and awsome videio! i m looking forward to buys this one, would u buy it now or wait for v2 to come out?
I would just go ahead and buy one. Whereas there might be another version coming out at some point the manufacturer is not actively working on one for release.
Good video let's see how it handles the upgrades
Assuming there's enough interest I will definitely do that!
That would be sweet!
Their 1\18 rig has pieces of metal in shock cap as well except it not like a washer . It doesn't have a hole in middle, just thin round piece of metal
Yeah I think it has something to do with supporting the bladder but I've never seen it on any other vehicle.
Apparently you can hold the power button for 5 seconds and it goes into sport mode.. it comes with beginner mode enabled.. just what I've heard
I don't know if that's true for this one. I believe one of their 114th scale ESCs was like that but I don't think this one is.

Very impressed with these trucks. At $300 they were high but i think it's a great value at $250 which seems to be the new price
It's still listed as $299 on the hyper go RC website.

They do make some pretty cool stuff!
I put my order in and already want to upgrade it. So for sure make that video with the upgrades. I kinda want to make it wider like I did with my 1410 v3
Seems like there's a good amount of interest in it so stay tuned :-)
In length? Not 100% sure but somewhere around 6 in I would say.
@@DoRC ok, TY
@@DoRC Thanks for the quick answer. Arrived at the same conclusion in the meantime. They really don't make it easy on you to decide.
Hwy awesome video as usual.. would you recommend 10208 or Omni Terminator?
I'd probably pick the omni Terminator
Hi mate great video I think you should upgrade the gearing and the pinion gear plus the arms I think and change out the streeing servo 😊😊😅
Those are definitely on the list!
They’re also definitely not 35kg servos. Wish these brands would look into Hobbystar. They have some great servos for cheap
Yeah most servos lie about their specs. I was just calling it a 35 kg because that's what most people are used to calling this particular type of servo
Great review, but I just got the email to pre-order the V2 version that will be shipping soon . . . so I guess it is already obsolete.
Yeah. That's a bummer. I verified multiple times with my contact at the company that the version they sent us was the version they were going to be shipping and technically for those that bought it straight from the site originally That is the case but it would have been nice if they had told me that 3 months later they were going to be coming out with an updated version.
Do RC
I got a dumb question.
Can it run on 2s , and if it can, would there be any adverse effects to the esc or Motor? Besides being slower than 3s
I'm pretty sure it'll run just fine on 2s and no there won't be any adverse effects
@DoRC thank you man
Do you think it is harder or easier to work in than the 1/14? You might have mentioned it but I missed then
I actually didn't mention it. I would say it's easier primarily because the screws are larger which makes a huge difference.
Is this worth the money to buy if i want to keep playing with stock parts? Is it durable enough to hold bashing?
In my somewhat limited experience it appears to be pretty durable. If you're going to be doing super hardcore bashing like 20 ft in the air at a skatepark you're definitely going to end up breaking it but just for normal having fun and bashing around it should be fine
Good morning 🎉
Hey man what's up :-)
New watcher: have you used the H8h V2 Foc 1/8th? Review?
Not yet. I have one coming though.
BTW I shared this video to the 10208 group
Awesome thank you!
Looks like a decent truck
Yeah like I mentioned in the video it's not without its shortcomings but it's overall a pretty sweet ride.
@@DoRC yea, I’ll stick to my Omni for now, so far only bent the wheelie bar screws holding the wheels and esc came off and that’s with 15 packs
Do you plan on getting the MJX 10208 v2? I might ask mom and dad to get this for a Christmas present.
Yes. Stay tuned :-)
@@DoRC Keep up the good work fella. Always enjoy your vids.
Thanks Glad you enjoy!
@@DoRC can you recommend me between 14210 and the 10208 brother? I want something durable because i want to play in rain and mud.

What specifically are you referring to?
Higher ride height with longer shocks and maybe larger wheels would be good to see. Everyone is criticizing the ride height.
yes, upgrades upgrades :D

Where do you buy these?
It was given to me for review by MJX.
MIP for the win
Absolutely!
What do you think about the Rlaarlo AK787
I never got the 787. I got the other one that it's based off of which I was pretty happy with though on road really isn't my thing. Unfortunately I can't really give you much of an opinion on this specific model though.
I would recommend it is a great road car for the price but getting parts is a greater challenge

This MJX or Rlaarlo Omni terminator?
That's a tough one. I would say right now the OT just because it's been out longer more is known about it and there are a bunch of upgrades available. When this becomes a more known quantity I may end up recommending this instead. It is hard to know how a vehicle's going to do long-term when only a handful of reviewers have only had a handful of days to use it.
Definitely needs a touch more ground clearance.
Maybe. This thing handles pretty well off-road and the higher you jack up the suspension the more likely it is to end up on its lid. If you're doing really big air then yeah you could use a bit more down travel but for just general bashing it feels pretty good at least it does to me
I will wait for the V.3 before I buy one.
Fair enough but keep in mind they aren't actively working on one so it might be a while.
Let's get a castle 14 series and a mamba x in there lol
Not sure I have one on hand but they are will definitely be something going in there!
Somehow 1/10 getting bigger and bigger with 1/8 motor and 1/5 drive shafts and I'm over here sitting waiting for a smaller 1/10 that will be closer to 1/12, but with all 1/10 parts.
The Omni Terminator is pretty much what you're looking for.
@@DoRCyea seriously 😂 Amazon had a sale for 212$ not sure if it’s still up
Yeah, the Rlaarlo Omni Terminator is exactly that.
I have the carbon version and have put at least 30 full packs through it, and it holds up.
I wish company’s would using fixed gear ratios motor mounts on non beginner rc cars
Personally I wish they wouldn't use them on anything. I really like to be able to set my own mesh.
At least have a ok mesh system kinda like the traxxas maxx and Xmaxx platforms they at least let you have more than two gearing options.
@@IsaacSchultz-lz8jc Yeah I guess I'm old school and I prefer just having a nice sliding mount range of motion but things like specific holes and the pin system definitely do simplify it for people who don't want to mess with mesh.
If I have a chance to change to a proper sliding mount I’m going to do it as soon as possible on any car
Someone tell traxxas to stop greasing their diffs too. The slash & rustler 4x4 and the 2wd vxl models with the 272R gearbox still get grease. I believe the front diffs get fluid.
Yeah it's kind of ridiculous. I can't imagine a few drops of silicon oil costs any more than a dab of grease and it certainly makes life a lot easier for us
What u see is what u get
©Valve
Yep!
I refuse to be impressed until Arrma makes an 8s Mojave, but that thing is cool.
I'd like to see that too.
HUGE emphasis on good bits. People don’t understand how much headache they save
Yep between having good bits and making sure the sockets of the screws are clean I would say at least 3/4 of all stripped screws in this hobby could be avoided
Cool RC Truck but the suspension and shock travel is too short !!!
You know I thought that before I actually used it but now that I've run it I disagree. To me the proofs in the pudding and this thing handles well and lands jumps well for the size of truck that it is. Maybe more suspension travel would be even better but more suspension travel also would cause more body roll and probably worse off-road handling.
It needs 4s to perform as well as other 1/10s on 3s. That alone makes it a failure.
The captured nuts wouldn't be that bad if they were nylon locknut, but yeah I feel ya
@@macmccartney5760 Good point on the nylocs, guys. Agreed.
If only it was geared like a Rival or a Granite and do 40-45 on 3S...
Yeah definitely feels under geared on 3S.
I think they should have a pinion for 3s and 4s
@IsaacSchultz-lz8jc Yeah it's really only possible to gear the car for one or the other.
Please do your up gade😅
Stay tuned :-)
ill stick to my arrmas
Nothing wrong with that. There's definitely advantage to staying first party.

For sure.

Thanks for watching!
Did you actually watch the video?
Lol! This truck is super cool!
@@DoRC Barring money....the parts availability is crucial imo. LHS and quicker shipping from various vendors/sellers. matter.
The worst part of this is probably going to get parts
Yeah parts will always be a bit more of a challenge on these cars than on first party options but usually it's not too bad. This being a completely new platform meaning that it'll probably be a bit more difficult at least at first though.
If companies get more popular there parts might come to hobby stores hopefully
@@IsaacSchultz-lz8jc That would be nice
$300 to much I could see maybe $230 !!!!! PASS
Before driving it I kind of felt the same way but this thing is actually pretty good and where as I wish it was less apparently some places it is going to be cheaper so that could make it an even better deal.
Mt10 all day.
Definitely a good truck though I've heard people are having problems getting parts for it right now.
@@DoRC plenty of part for the mt10 in the UK mate we had a skid plate set shortage for 6 eeeks but there back in stock everywhere again
