Great video! If you've done any performance tweaks on your Go to. Squeeze better performance from it then you should make a video on it with steps on how to do so!
That is really awesome! I kind of want to try it with my Legion Go. The changed Big Picture Steam look is critical for sure. I can't stand the default. 😅 If you haven't shared how yet, I hope you post it up soon! Edited: Ah! With some determination, I discovered that the key to changing the UI like you have is a program called CSS Loader for Windows. I don't go into huge details about it. I'm sure the video you make to show people how to do it will be as useful as this video was to me.
@@thecasualgamerph Ironically I'm having a hard time installing CSSLoader on my Legion Go right now. Infinite loop downloading backend (I did turn on the Developer's stuff, but it's refusing to work outside the first load where it froze when I started installing stuff)
@@thecasualgamerphNah. But I want to. Not until I have the CSSLoader part of things hashed out. But that simply doesn't want to happen. 😹 I even gave it Admin access and still nothing.
Thank you. Yes you can do this on any Window Pc Handheld. Watch the latest video as well because it’s a continuation of this guide. You can skip the audio improvement part.
Ey! Thanks for the video!!! I’ve configured playnite as shell and it works but from the moment it start any button or touch in the screen the keyboard appears. Any idea on how to solve it?
Hi, very good video. I was wondering how comfortable is that transparent TPU case. I bought another model, the black one than blocks the side buttons, and I found it very uncomfortable. Thanks in advance.
The problem I still have is that the device won't even go to sleep. I thought it would be the realtek audio driver since it was shown when using powercfg /requests command in cmd line, but even after disabling it, when playing Hogwarts Legacy, the device won't go to sleep (I can see since the power button is not slowly flashing and fans are spinning even after a minute). Any ideas? I installed the newest AMD chipset, even newer than you have in the video.
Unfortunately there is no way fixing it unless Lenovo fixes it in their next release of official graphics drivers. It also won’t work if you force installed the AMD graphics drivers.
When i set my default app to playnite at boot i don't have acess to the task bar when i swipe up for the bottom, is it possible to still have this functionality for the rare times i need to multitask? Im on a rog ally btw. Thank you for the video
You just need to load file explorer. If you don’t have the option to open file explorer through armor crate you can just add a shortcut for file explorer to your game library in playnite. Once you run it, you should be able to swipe up to access the taskbar
@@thecasualgamerph i found a solution i needed to make a bat file and convert it to exe because playnite doesnt run it properly... almost perfect. Exactly my issue, I’ve been using the Lenovo quick menu to adjust the volume. It’s just a matter of figuring out which app is controlling the volume buttons and adding it to userinit. I’ve already tried the lenovo space service but that doesn’t seem to be it.
I think I’ll have to do a separate video for this one but maybe you can figure this out without a tutorial. Look for audioswitch on github and install it. Then right click on system tray icon and in the setting create two entries for volume up and volume down, place a check under osd. Then go to general tab and disable run on windows startup. User place a check under use custom OSD. Now open registry and navigate to the winlogon parameters but this time under hkey_local_machine instead of hkey user. Look for the userinit entry and copy paste the path of audioswitch into it. Restart the Go.
Did you debloat your Windows installation? This only has a slight effect on memory usage. Without the regular Windows shell, the system uses around 30-35% of system memory, as soon as you activate Windows shell it will jump up to 40+%. Personally I just like the user experience, you don’t have Windows poking through whenever you start or close a game and the system does not boot into the Windows shell before it starts Steam.

From my time with those Linux distros i learned that everything runs great until it doesn’t. A tiny Steam update can break your tdp controls or any other plug ins that have been injected to provide you with device specific controls. Let’s not even talk about what happens when an update breaks most of your installation and you have to wait until it’s fixed. I stopped counting how many fresh installs I had to do, when my Go stopped working in game mode because an update messed up the refresh rate I was just done. I was tired of having to search through discord to check what was broken this time and how to fix it. Maybe Bazzite has matured a bit in the past three months. I was planning to make a vid on it anyway.
@@thecasualgamerph the go on bazzite is basically "feature complete" through bazzite rn with just a few things that are a little jank. Like for some odd reason when you shut it down through steam mode it always freezes on the shut down screen. So to switch to. And two games I've tried just refuse to launch for some odd reason. But overall for me bazzite has been amazing compared to windows

When you are using integer scaling, select 720p in the game and let it upscale to 1440p since the format has to be 16:9
Same goes for the desktop of course

Does replacing the windows shell improve performance at all? I currently just have steam BPM auto start on boot

Hi! Quick question, can you replace the ssd and use cloud recovery on the legion go?
The Legion Go has no cloud recovery feature. You can download a recovery image from the Lenovo support site after providing your Go’s serial number.
@@thecasualgamerphWhat’s a recovery image? And thank you for the quick answer!
@@manuelewertz1335 it’s the stock Windows 11 image with all the device drivers pre installed. You still need to flash it to a usb drive though

Does you fan still run in sleep mode?
Is there a way to make the volume keys work without the windows shell loading??
It’s in the latest video, you have to install audioswitch
You should almost exclusively use hibernation with Windows devices…sleep is bad.
Hibernation works flawlessly without any tweaks…
Explanation why it is bad? Used hybernation before the sleep fix, it works but takes a while for the device to wake up.

does legion go can use AMD fluid
Fluid motion? It’s not supported at the moment because of the Go’s display orientation. Lenovo is working with AMD to have it working on the GO.
Just change it to hibernate
