- Wow what an epic day! a field is truly never done, I had such a great time metal detecting an old permission with so much history still left to find there. It has been about 4 years since my last visit and since then there has been multiple software upgrades for my detector and what a difference they made. I hope you enjoy coming along with me, I certainly enjoyed bringing you along. See you next time 🙂

Don't apologise for showing all those Romans Ed... a detectorist who is bored of seeing Romans is reaching the time to hang up the machine!! 😁 That's a cracking haul. The beehive is my favourite though. 👍
I love it, I don't think I will ever get bored of it, I still get the same buzz and loving being back in this area, I think they had more holes in their pockets here 😂😂
Amazing Romans, I wonder what was previously there for so many to have been dropped. The thimble looked pretty amazing too, but I am amazed at the detail in the Constantius II
It was close to a roman road but seems to be concentrated in that one area of the field so my thoughts is some sort of shop maybe, probably the local takeaway 😂
I was thinking the same thing. It must have been a market place. Love all the coins. Hard to believe they are so deep. All the best from Ohio.

You always manage to dig up something of interest no matter how small. Great finds the thimble is special but then so are all those Roman coins. Looks like the mod works. Carry on detecting.
I try my best, that was a bit of a special day though and a special site that I like to go back to 🙂

Fantastic Ed, the Equinox upgrade definitely paid off for you. Fascinating. They recon you can go over a piece of ground a hundred times and still find something, miss between the swings l suppose. Great total 18 !! Brill, and that cool thimble 👌
Thanks Mark, I had such a fun day, I think i must have been over those areas at least 100 times before and that is not exaggerating. the field needs a good ploughing and there will be tons more to find 😂

@@markallchorn2438 I think it was some sort of trading area, I haven't seen about the villa find, was it a bigun?
@@VintageParagonUk They said the Rutland find was significant, it showed a mosaic floor and quite a few building remains, from a drone the floor seemed very precise, amazing how they did that. We have a reasonably close one to us Bignor there were some great finds, all housed in a building with a raised floor. It was very impressive. As usual some crap person ( s) broke in and stole finds. I'm a great believer in Kama, recon it caught up with them. Looking forward to the next one Ed 👍

Here in my Area ( Germany ) the Roman coins are mostly very rare. 🙈
WOW, I dont think I have ever seen a video that was 99.9% roman coins 😃. some of those were just amazing. I also liked the beehive thimble. thanks for sharing. New subscriber here 👍

Great channel recommended by West Country Clegg. You might wand to look at using the “UGLY BOX ELECTROLYSIS “ unit to clean and conserve your coins.
Thanks and welcome, I hope you enjoy my videos 🙂 I assume that is an electrolysis kit? I made my own but all the details on these Roman coins is in the patina and electrolysis would just wipe that off, I only give them a zap if they are crusty silver coins 👍

That Constantius is amazing! And I also love the thimble. Funny that a George rings up at 20 on the Nox. In the US, 20 is almost always a crap zinc penny (1982+ and almost always partially digested by the soil).

I miss bottle digging too, it has been tough to find the time to search for a new dump when I have moved about the country so often, I will put more effort in to searching again when we get more daylight hours so hopefully at some point i will get lucky 🙂

Hi Ed, Can you tell me what upgrade it was? I don't think iv'e done one for a good few years now.
It's the overhead lines, the phone masts and electric fences that bloomin' get me!!! and not one of the frequency changes solve a thing ! Share you're wisdom 😃
Hey so this was just the upgrades that they have previously done, I think the last one was a couple of years ago, so last time I was there 4 years ago I had updated the software since then, sorry if it sounded like a new one. There was still plenty of interference but I did have to regularly ground balance and do the frequency thing a few times. Perhaps I just know how to make the changes a bit better now in regards to iron bias etc. and picked out those little coins from the carpet of iron there. Keep on digging 😁👍
That thimble though! Love the Romans, but that gorgeous thimble is the winner for me!
