      Makes me wonder was that what his dad was most jealous of. His dad, by his lifestyle, seems like he had that 'Mirror, mirror, on the wall syrdrome', but one day saw that Marvin, was much more handsome than him, and his mirror cracked.
      I'm sure Marvin was aware of his jealousy to him, and I wondered why would he live in the house with his jealous hearted dad, but then I thought he probably was there to protect his mama. Because a jealous tyrant like his dad, was going to take his insecurities, and frustrations out on her, because he wasn't about to take it out on Marvin, the one he was jealous of, now that he was grown, and stronger than him.
      It was just a sad day in the world, the day we heard he died.✌

    I'm 37 and was born in 1981. I have the weirdest attraction to Marvin. His look, gorgeous smile, soft sensual voice, suave personality, empathy and sympathy of what he endured, sensuality, music, hurt and lost soul, etc. I've always said Marvin was someone I'd loved to have met and interacted with. He's so alluring. Rest his soul❤

    He is one of the few Artists that you put an Album, and listen to the entire thing, no bad tunes; especially "What's Going On". It's a Classic! It's more relevant now than it was when it was first released (I bought it). That's the true test of a song. I truly miss him.

      He wasnt a wonderful man.He was a tortured miserable man.Chronically dissatisfied with life.He was however a vessel used by Almighty God.He himself told us his music was divinely inspired.The album "What's Going On" was written by God.Subsequent albums were a descent into secular material.Written by men.

      I must agree that Marvin inherited his movie-star looks from his beautiful mother. It's a fact of life that all humans have some sort of issues. I understand that drugs in the entertainment industry are as prevalent as popcorn, and many people succumb to the drugs. Still, his addiction doesn't in any way diminish the fact that he was a musical genius. In the truest sense, I believe Marvin was a prophet sent to us for a period. Then he was called back to the Father who sent him. Love you Marvin. Entertain the angels and continue producing your beautiful music in Heaven.

Marvin sr was a psycho. The day Tammy died Marvin gave up he felt he failed to protect her.sad but Marvin and Tammy is at peace now.

    @Aspasia2929 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

    A beautiful man, with a beautiful voice, and beautiful message of peace and love who was taken from the world way too soon in an ugly, violent, and hateful way. It just isn't fair, but then life rarely is. While "Sexual Healing" is a cool song his album "What's Going On" is the best work he ever did and one of the best R&B albums ever recorded. If you have never listened to the entire album I highly recommend it. In this digital age of single song downloads people don't listen to complete albums like they used to (what a shame!) and a concept album like "What's Going On" was recorded to be heard in it's entirety. This is why when you hear singles from the album some seem to end abruptly because each songs pretty much flows into the next one on the album. Check it out and enjoy!

    This was a very very good documentary about Marvin Gaye. Thank you.
    I don't care what nobody says I can believe that Tammy Terrell was Marvin's soulmate, they clicked together. Outside of Peaches n Herb, Marvin n Tammy was our favorite couple singing love songs. Seems like he went through a 6yr. depression after her death, and we didn't see him for 6yrs, but God restored him 100%, and he came out with Sexual Healing.
    This is my first time seeing a picture of his mama, and he looks just like his beautiful mama.
    She kind of remind me of Mahalia Jackson, Queen of gospel music.
    It's very interesting that I never knew Marvin had put out that song "Wyatt Earp", because this was my favorite western, and felt the guy who played him, Hugh Obrien, was the best of the west. I watched every episode.
    Marvin Gaye was definitely the prince of R&B. and I can see how David Ruffin may have felt like a competitor against him, because they both were equally talented with the singing voices that could move mountains.
    Marvin was God sent, as well as other singers, of that era, because their music, was like helping us through what was going on, in the world, and in our life. And I just thank them, for being there, making that period of my life, the happiest.✌❤🙏🌷🌲🎵💃

If uou look at them singing they were in love. This is why when Tammi passed away he stopped singing for three years. RIP Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell the best duet couple evva.

      Bettye Hodges I believe that Marvin Gaye father was gay he looked like it at talk like it on a interview with his son speaking to him and I bet Marvin had knew it and kapt that secret to his grave! That's why I believe his father kill him because he probably told him he was going to tell the world and his dad was to be a preacher I bet that's why he kill him the mother and Marvin knew the truth on him!

    A genius Detroit was a unique culture and was everything not so long ago Motown Music changed the American culture and influenced the planet I grew up on this The Motown machine was astounding The music touches your soul and ignites your emotions Strong dynamic sweet raw sexy music There's a million words to describe the music but none can it speaks for itself The best music on earth It's real Marvin Gay was brilliant he shown like a bright star and it was too much I remember the day he left us Sexual healing was everything and his career unparalleled A tortured soul like so many people More so I believe for brilliant people who see the big picture and are witness to barely average powerful people wrecking the world and not learning from the past MARVIN GAYE AN AMERICAN ICON

    Physically abused as a child more than his siblings, ashamed of his dad's cross dressing and a Minister of a Church; of course he didn't understand it - what child would have. Laughed at by his peers because of his dad's strange behavior especially for back then. I'm sure Marvin struggled with the thought of "if he himself was gay or not". Marvin was a mentally tormented man; a man wrought with emotions which made him very sensitive. I cried years ago when I learned of certain facts in a document and I still cried as I just watched this one (2/10/20). What a wonderful human being, sensitive to what was happening. "What's going on" makes me cry because Marvin saw what was what and it was like he knew things would get worse for us and they have as the whole world has gotten worse. "Don't punish me with brutality" … "Father father there's too many of us dying" … "We've got to find a way to bring some loving here today" …. Wow, these words still haunt me and are so very true. Marvin's dad was jealous of his relationship with his wife (Marvin's mom) and with Marvin's success in music. Brain tumor or not, he shot Marvin then walked over to him and shot him AGAIN; but stand in court saying he's sorry he did that. Narrrr … Okay granted Marvin pushed his dad because he was disrespecting his mom because he was angry about some pepers he couldn't locate in the home.

      @SouthernComfort707 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      His father was mentally disturbed and should have been locked away many years before he killed Marvin. He physically and emotionally abused his wife and children for years. Marvin was abused more than the others because Marvin never bowed down to him. The father had always told family members that Marvin had better not ever put his hands on him. He meant it.

      Love can be a hurting thing, and a challenging thing, but it sure is doable, once you get past the bumps, in the road. Many of us, are ready to chunk it in, at the first bump, instead of trying to understand that person better. I use to go around like I was the good one, in the relationship, and he was the bad one, till God opened my eyes, to how this man was pulling me up, like he had been sent, for that reason. As I slowly began seeing this I saw him less of a monster, and more of a helpmate. He still have faults, and so do I. He has helped me a great deal in overcoming my faults, so I think it's only fitting that I try to help him overcome his, so I pray that God corrects whatever is in his heart that needs correcting, because I sure can't judge someone else's mind, just my own. He's a hardworking man, and generous. I found he was giving 80%, and I had been giving 20%, and loving it. But once I realized I was wrong for doing that, got wiser, now I try to match his hard work, pulling my weight, making it 50/50. No, relationships/marriage is not easy, for most couples, you just have to put some work, into it, DAILY, to keep it fresh, and alive, and try your best to bring love, in the house, and not hate. God will bless that.✌
