I’m sure there’s many different ways to create the drop off effect. My goal was to reduce the water volume, so there is not as much weight on my floor.
tbh thats way to many tangs in that size tank especially since those are about 4-5" big.....bad ass tank and love the rock placement....what woulda been cool on the build is if u boulda spaced it off the wall maybe about 6 inches to run all the electrical so all the wires go to canapy to the back of tank to the bottom....and woulda put the sump in the cabinet and also never seen this done but if u were able to attach sand to the glass were the fall is woulda looked even more crazy.....but great job tho as this
Securing the sand to that wall is a really good idea. I could’ve probably used reef glue to secure it. I appreciate the feedback and good ideas. Thank you.
I’m not sure who the manufacturer of the tank is. I was able to find this tank on Facebook marketplace. Once I got the tank, I thought it would be a cool idea to turn it into a drop off tank myself. I’ve definitely learned a lot during this tank build and would changed around a few things if I did it again. Nonetheless it was a great time building it especially because I had no idea what I was doing at the time.
Definitely a good idea using masking tape next time with the black silicone. This is my first time ever doing anything like this and I’ve definitely learned a lot from this build.
Not seeing the logic here… no practical reason to do this tank this way. You’re giving up a lot of water volume just to have the drop off effect. And quite frankly it looks odd and unnatural. To each their own - good luck.
I wouldn’t say there was any logic behind this tank build or practicality. I just wanted to do something a little different than “normal”. Nothing more than that. If there’s any type of “practicality” I would guess that you have less weight on your floor other than that it’s more or less just a different type of design. Thanks for the feedback.
This is the best tank I’ve seen in a while !
Thanks, man appreciate it.
beautiful tank. I think a rock ledge would be an incredible addition though instead of the bare glass
Thanks. Creating a rock ledge would look pretty sweet.
So dope 🤙🏽
Thanks!
Such an awesome tank. Need to know the dimensions!
5 feet long 27” in the deep end 16” in the shallow end 18” wide in the deep end by 18” thick
Think you could technically turn any tank into a drop off by just adding a giant block on either side of it for the same effect lol

Love that tank wow. Great job on it. Where did you buy it from??? 😮❤
yes i would like to know as well
Looks like a glass cages tank and they added the shelf themselves. Masking tape and black silicone would have really cleaned it up. looks cool though.
