    I remember driving the final Saab model back to the dealership after a show at our local county fair. It felt weird. I knew it was the last model, I was never a Saab fan. It was strange driving the very last model of a car. That car was actually pretty unique compared to everything else I drove that year.
    Also after years of working in an auto body shop, I can still say the Saturn was one of the easiest cars to work on ever. They were so freaking easy. I actually miss the simple engineering in Saturns. Great cars honestly.

    • @davidmhh9977
      @davidmhh9977 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +12

      I'd argue that Saturn had the most potential of any of the brands GM axed in 08. Pontiac was more iconic, but just wasn't able to differentiate itself from Chev by the 2000's. Hummer wedged itself into a really narrow niche that wasn't viable during the recession, and Saab also had too narrow of a niche, while also just being too up and down in terms of quality.
      As for Saturn, it suffered from badge engineering, but at least it's body style made it stand out. It also filled the small economy car niche better than any other GM brand.

    • @Oddman1980

      I had an Ion that I rehabilitated, and it was like the car was made of legos. It was so simple to change body parts on it, I changed a bent aluminum bumper support in about 15 minutes.

    I had a 93' Bonneville, I loved that 3800 motor, best engine I've ever had under a hood(not fastest,just overall best I've had). Felt like riding on clouds, interior was comfy and plenty of room in the trunk, I forgot the average MPG but gas wasn't as expensive in 2004-2006 as it is now.

    Honourable mention for Isuzu. While the brand hasn’t gone entirely defunct as they are still producing commercial duty trucks for the US market, Isuzu has not sold a passenger vehicle in the US since 2008 with their last models being a rebadged Colorado and Trailblazer(I-290 & Ascender) through their partnership with GM.

      Nickleback's Chad Kroeger used the brand in a song about wanting to be a rock star. Everybody _still_ didn't care, and everybody probably hated it _more_ because Nickleback.

      They still exist as a car brand in Australia, and they are very popular. They sell the Isuzu DMAX and the MUX, which are original cars, and are awesome.

    I can vouch for that dent resistance, I rear ended my old Oldsmobile 88 with an 07 Ion lvl 3, neither of them took so much as a dent, although I did fling a little piece of triangle plastic next to the Saturn's headlight across the driveway. I hit the Oldsmobile doing about 30 mph, not a dent. 2 scratches. Miss both those cars.
