I think you did a fantastic job matching the bench to the music holder. I know it was a challenge with the top being so much darker. I really enjoy seeing you work and learning along with you! Fantastic job!
I think it’s a pretty close match. I am in the process of refinishing a dining table with LOTS of stains that won’t come out. I put a couple coats of shellac and then used a darker gel stain since it sits on top of wood instead of penetrating. It’s turning out pretty good.
@@christhompson3655oh that’s a bummer about the stains! I did consider a gel stain but I can’t remember why I decided not to in the end.🤔 With hindsight, that would’ve been a good first staining option, especially with the color variation I had. I’m glad it’s working well for you. I love how there are so many options to choose from in refinishing.
It’s perfect! Thank you for this content. A lot of the transformation that is out there is how to get away from the golden & red tones… but to tackle achieving those colors proved to be a challenge. So glad you explored the process with stains and taking us along. I’m quite sure your client was grateful and satisfied. You’ve gained their trust & confidence in your skill and a recommendation ✅ no doubt. The glaze effect was spot on, it accentuates those lines for a natural effect. Great work!
Thank you!! That’s so true that there is very little out there with these tones. It was hard to research with much success past the screen recording I shared. I’m thankful it worked out where she was still happy with it, despite the not perfect match. I agree the glaze effect really helped to mimic the look that was on the music holder and provide the look needed. Thanks again!🩷
What did you think about how close of a match I got? Please share any tips or tricks you have for matching different wood types!
