Thanks for the lovely tour. This is my favourite style of all your videos…..feels like you are a private tour guide. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Always look so forward to these! I am learning so much and having so much fun! Owe a lot if that to you George! As my kids used to say, "You, Rock, Dude!!" 🙂
Visited the Purple pig today. Absolutely loved it!!!! I had a long conversation with the older woman that was the owner. We explained we drove almost 2 hours based on your video. She seemed very excited!
Thanks for commenting on the rounder hobnails, I didn’t think Fenton made them. Kanawa sp? Good to finally know. Thanks for your expertise. Enjoy your videos!
This is great information to know, i.e. hobnails, and the covered hen/animals dishes. I always thought the hens were for candy that is what my grandma put in hers and it was a milk glass one. You have a great day
Thanks for the tour and education. I love how welcoming and friendly the owners daughter was! Rodeo is a cutie-pie! It's great for the owner of the shop. Free advertising! My ex hubby and I 12+ years ago used to call the penguin West Bend piece 'the item of the day' because we inevitably saw one every time we went out shopping.
That store is fantastic! So many lovely items. I adore the bee measuring cups! so cute. And what you said about the drinkware sets is so true. I want to be able to use my finds as much as I can. Thanks George ❤
George, you OUT-DID yourself with this video. It was packed full of beautiful & fascinating pieces with your usual history lessons about them. I cannot get enough of your channels. The wicker swing was quite special. Loved Rodeo, too, lol. Many heartfelt thanks for all that you do for us.
Part of the reason a lot of depression glass is gone - TONS of it was made - is that to people of the time, it represented being poor. My mother used to talk about how ashamed she was when people came to her house to eat and all they had was pink depression they got from the movies and in detergent and flour packages. She couldn't wait to be able to afford real dishes and then throw away all the depression glass, which I imagine they did with extreme prejudice. She always hated it!
Interesting! At the time, it was the current thing and was quite the rage, IF you could afford the serving pieces. The folks who just got the premiums felt more like your mom
My Mother hates depression glass, won't touch it and gets a shiver ... She was raised by depression era parents who thought depression represented poverty ... I don't like it very much either
I totally get it. Actually it was my grandmother who taught me about it when I bught my first box full. Most people didn't have the fancy stuff - just the stuff they got at movie theatres and in soap and flour packages. It represents bad times - hard times - to many people. @@Moekristie
Great store. Lots of interesting and less common items. I would have bought that Gerdago piece. That was a decent price for a scarce item. Thanks George!
New subscriber and only two videos in but I love them! Thanks so much for your knowledge and sharing it! I’m really trying to get more into antiques since that’s where my passion is.
I'm so glad! Thank you for subscribing, please come along and have fun with us. We do premieres every M/W at 8 pm Eastern, you're welcome to chat with us when we do
Good evening, George! That Gerado piece was fantastic. It would be able to stand alone as a statue. I would buy and use the Wagner Gem pan. I'm loving the 1850s iron kettle I got from you! There have been a lot of compliments on it, too. I like wall pockets, but I'm extremely picky with them. The Weller one did suit me. Wasn't that cup next to the early English, no-handle cup a shaving mug? Mustache cups have an opening for the liquid to pass through. Shaving mugs have the "cradle" for the shaving brush, with the holes for the soap to drip through. That girandole would've come home with me! That seemed a really good price for that piece. I have a "Cherry Blossom" beverage set in the pink. That's a nice pattern. Purple Pig is a super-nice shop!!! Fantastic that you found it open!!! Thanks for the take-along!!!
I am so glad the kettle is getting noticed! I really loved the Gerado piece, we have one in my family. I think you're right about the shaving mug as opposed to a mustache cup, I'll have to do a comparison sometime to show the difference to everyone. The girandole was cheap I thought! Thank you for coming along!
@@TheAntiqueNomad The kettle is on the table in the kitchen, and it does get noticed and complimented a lot. I have a left-handed mustache cup and saucer, and I have an R S Prussia shaving mug, with the perforated cradle. I've seen people get the two confused, so a comparison of the two, showing the differences, would be helpful to people. Oh, that girandole was at a "you can't leave me" price. Even with no more space to put anything, it would've come home with me.
Hi George! What a wonderful video. Many of my favorite things. I have that Kanawha amberina handled bowl. Love depression glass and EAPG. David and I are talking about a road trip and I think we should head in that direction! Hoping to get to an estate sale company warehouse sale tomorrow, barring a predicted snowfall tomorrow. Hugs from northern Michigan, 9a and David
This was exciting! Also @ 2:57 I saw a cake plate and cover that is exactly like my grandma's. I inherited it but my husband accidentally left it on the stove and turned the wrong burner on (no idea how someone could do that!) and melted the handle. I still have the plate though.
I just started watching you today. You mentioned in one video that you had chipped merchandise and I'm a beginner as trying to repair chips at this time. Interested in chipped pieces? I'm ready to move up to more vintage types.
Hi there! I actually avoid chipped merchandise as a general rule unless it's quite scarce. I'm glad you're moving up your collection, but if you get good at repairing chips, your services will be in demand!
I wonder what the price was on the Wheaties box next to the turkey platter and if it had the contents in it. My son saved one with Michael Jordan on it but I doubt it's worth anything. Interesting that they had a box for sale. Wonder who was on the front. Thanks.
Hi George I came to the PTL show 7/15 said hello but you were terribly busy and by yourself !! You were apparently abandoned by Zeno I have some questions , what format or program can I email you directly instead of just a comment
Thank u George, so enjoyable being with you ! I can always count on new bits of historical information !
Great video George! Thanks for sharing!
No more treats for Rodeo! Thanks George!

Oh thank you! I really enjoy doing this format.
Your videos are so wonderful!! I really appreciate you George!! They are better than reading a history book!
Wow, thank you! I want to give context to these neat old things we enjoy
I second Laura's sentiment.
What a nice shop!

That is awesome! Cadiz is a great antique town
Just chock-full of goodies. Loved the Treasure Craft turquoise bowls but the bookend by Gerdago, can't get that out of my head!
The Treasure Craft bowls are good and I'm glad someone else appreciates them! That bookend was great
Always thrilled for the next shop and learning and memories.
Thank you me too!
What a lovely store! Thanks for taking us along.
Glad you enjoyed!
I love that they have a Dachshund at their shop. I used to bring my doxie to work with me every day.
Thanks for commenting on the rounder hobnails, I didn’t think Fenton made them. Kanawa sp?

Kajun found one similar 15:20 timestamp. Wall bouquet. Great video. Love all the information u give.
Cool, thanks!
I really need to go back to this part of Kentucky, great stores
I love depression glass. My grandmother used it for my mother's birthday parties, sort of the way we use paper plates.
Hi George, so nice to see you! Informative and charming as always.
Thank you, you are sweet to say so!
Thank you George! Love to watch your videos….

Thank you, George, for another most enjoyable and educational vlog 😍
My pleasure!
Omg I'd "bee" all over the measuring cups!!
DYING to find a Gerdago in the wild - or at an auction that gets passed over. I LOVE Them!
Yes! I've had exactly two

Oh, bummer! I am sorry that happened.
Sad story, but that was the fate of many plastic items in kitchens near heat!
Great prices. Great video George
Thanks 👍
My favorite!❤❤❤
Great video George! I can tell that store has great customer service. Thanks for sharing!
They really are great! I appreciate good customer service, it makes such a different to me

13:58 , not called a silent butler
Because no lid? I've always heard crumbers referred to as such
