From what I've seen it's pc port along with other games have been delisted in select countries which seems to Sony's doing after the helldivers 2 fiasco.
Basically Sony made it so you require to have a PSN account to play their games on PC such as helldivers 2. The problem arises with the fact that many countries don't have their consoles being sold which is the only way to create a PSN account. This obviously angered many people especially those who already bought the game and Sony on a post online said they would retract the idea due to player feedback. However many had noticed that the game wasn't available anymore in a lot of countries or they actually went through with the PSN requirement. I forget which of the two but you get the picture.
The reason for helldivers 2 and ghost of tsushima is obvious. They're preparing for the PSN account requirement for everything. They're just waiting for the right moment.
about the ads... when the hell did corporations think it was a good idea to plaster ads over every little thing in life? first it was excessive prerolls, then its ads in mobile games, then ads in game games, then its youtube deciding "let's have people watch ads when they PAUSE A VIDEO" (i'm guessing the ads are prerolls and not what hulu did and just show sponsors like charmin and the real cost), and if we keep letting this slide, we'll reach a point where we have to watch 10 minutes of clash royale and tide pods ads before going up a *goddamn elevator.*
They've already done this. The only thing that matters is if it's unintrusive product placement or billboard ads versus unskippable ads before I get to play the game. Another thing I want to mention is that outside of indie games, there's basically NO competition to Madden or NHL. And that means they can make the games as bad as they want without any consequences. Same with the WWE games.
what I find most laughable about the twitter thing is that everything that elon has done has made it impossible for him to make money off of it, since if you report any kind of ads, it seems like they get permanantly blocked on your end which makes it incredibly unlikely for them to get monetization, also the literal lack of moderation makes it even more likely that ads get deleted with a bot, and the 42,000 per month for the API thing is just incredibly stupid, I mean that just kills your chances of having anything besides a website. i'm fine with the whole thing, i mean elon's conversion of twitter in links to X on the mobile version just enables scams so hard, so i'm not suprised that he can't make good monetization strategies for the life of him
OKAY REAL TALK, I bet the reason corporations keep shooting themselves in the foot is shareholders. The reason why Sony [and other software companies] do not operate certain nations is usually because they don't agree with the domestic internet laws, that and server space being too expensive. You can't sue an entity for boycotting a nation because they are not obligated to operate there.
@thebigblox4297 It's more than that. You see the major problem is the laws and server space. All the servers and clients have to play nice with each other. Sony and other companies actually _use to_ be digitally region unlocked, the problem is that as internet laws were added and changed domestic servers obviously had to be reprogrammed to operate by them. Not only that but some nations and sovereign governments (like the EU) are notorious for forcing any entity (including individual people) to comply with their laws so long as they have a digital presence in or make digital contact with, the sovereign state in question. Trying to reconcile all this in a practical and cost-effective way without negatively impacting the end-users is for the most part, impossible. Telling people to just use a VPN would be a slap in the face to the domestic governments. Sorry for the Ted talk.
