They really are the best couple that successfully got their happy ending, married with better fulfilling jobs and with a child. I honestly don't think any of the other couples would have survived Josh and Donna would have eventually broken up because Josh is too self absorbed, Charlie would have moved on from Zoe I have a feeling his need to please the president would have gotten in the way, Will and Toby too tied to their work and cynical to find love, Kate was multiple divorced she was never going make it, Sam came back to work in the WH which would have ended his engagement. I am so happy CJ and Danny survived theirs was a genuine love and a relationship of equals with lots of humour and sweet friendship that lasted the test of time.
I'm sure that when this episode came on there were so many single men crying in the oatmeal because their CJ ran away from them without needing to be beeped out of their seat.
***** Or when Anna Scott was standing was standing in front of William Thacker in the "book shop" near the end of the movie Notting Hill, or when Juliet found the videotape that Marc was editing in the movie Love Actually, or when Mary and the 3 guys were listening to the phone messages in the movie "He's Just Not That Into You", or when Julianne Potter asks Michael O'Neal to "choose me, Marry me" in the saddest scene from the movie "My Best Friend's Wedding", or when...............
Why does it feel like every one of my jobs is like this... **beepp beeep** Pager: "The frosty machine is broken..." Me: JESUS CHRIST I HAVE TO GO FIX THIS RIGHT NOW!!
I absolutely love everything about this scene except for the rude waitress and the fact that Danny spills his heart out to her and she flies out the door. No goodbye or kiss. I think they could have at least added something in there for him. Other than that Bradley Whitford wrote a hell of an episode. 💕
I wouldn't say she was rude. The bit C.J. was doing is in bad taste in some settings. A five-star restaurant while sipping spring water is probably high on the list. Plus, C.J. previously dismissed the server in a rude manner, so this was payback.
Well, duh, they wanted to lay the groundwork for getting them together ready to get them together right that very second. It's perfect exactly the way it ends ... because it doesn't end there. It ends in "Institutional Memory" and the gorgeousness that is the final scene, built on the scenes in between where they are starting tentative steps toward a relationship. This scene is essentially a proposal that got interrupted by a nuclear disaster.
It's a continuation from an earlier scene a few nights before when they had met for dinner but CJ had cut off the waitress in the middle of telling them the specials because CJ wanted them to be able to just sit and talk without having to wait to hear all that. The waitress took it personally for some strange reason.
This was the episode with the nuclear accident in California. I guess a simple “you’ll understand in a couple of hours” on the way out wouldn’t have hurt but as Danny notes, CJ has no human skills left after working in the White House for 8 years
I love the moments between these two. He's loved her from the beginning.
he doesn't love her romantically
"So, if I'm gonna jump off the cliff, and you're gonna get pushed off the cliff, why don't we hold hands on the way down?"
*swooning*
MsSundstrom94 was just gonna say something to the tune of motherfucker his is smooth
MsSundstrom94 I wish a man would say that to me
Like someone burst a fish bowl
Pretty romantic speech if you ask me.
Truly one of the most romantic lines ever.
To this day they make me cry. Most beautiful couple ever, I'm SO glad they made it.

Rather had seen CJ with Simon. Just not a fan of Danny.
It’s not real....

It’s amazing Bradley Whitford (Josh) wrote this episode. So talented!!!
A brilliantly constructed scene - absolutely riveting.
I love this man. He's perfect. So is she.
Such good writing in this scene. Acting, too, yeah, but it's the writing that's noteworthy. Season 7 was not the greatest, but this scene stood out.
I feel a lot like Danny sometimes, and wonder if there's a CJ out there in the world for me somewhere.
There is

Know who you are first; then there is a CJ for you (or a Danny)

they are one of my OTPs
What happened that they beeped her does anyone remember?
+punknhead23 Nuclear accident in San Andreo, California.
Previously CJ told her to basically stop the spiel about the menu basically nullifying the waitresses job.
I wish some man would say those words to me. (Swooning here.)
I don’t know why CJ couldn’t be super vague and say something like “This will all make sense in an hour” as she was leaving
It is lovely when nerds find love
I still can't believe they had a kid, though!
Knowing what Allison Janney looks like, it's not that far a leap of imagination...

I forget, what was the phone call about.?
A nuclear accident in California
smooth
was that a marriage proposal?
it definitely SEEMED like it to me!! but i never watched the later seasons so we'll need someone who has to answer us
Not a marriage proposal, but in the end they get married.
Why does the waitress hate CJ?

Ya
A beeper
I forget. Why did she have to go? Don't like Danny for CJ. Simon...
