Y’all have been crushing it with all of the TH-cam videos! Not only do you pump vids out frequently but they are always well made and entertaining. Great job to everyone involved in this channel! 🍻🔥
So damn cool. Thanks for sharing all the video content. It has made my journey back into reefing a blast. Up and running the past 2 years after a 15 year break . Keep up the good work.
Its been cool to see you guys in my neck of the woods. I have been a member at the Georgia Aquarium since it was first opened. It has come a long way and they are still going. One of my favorite places. Sometimes I leave my office and go into the aquarium on lunch to clear my head from my corporate responsibilities. My wife and kids also love this place
Steve seems pretty calm and down to earth. The vibe is there, the passion, so cool, calm, and collected. Love it. Also only 50% coral coverage and goal to get a bit higher. That is amazing. Already looks amazing. Keep up the amazing work.
The way they designed the viewing pane with the crashing "swell" overhead is simply stunning. The inclusion of the wave action as part of the exhibit is what makes it so compelling. If it were completely empty, I'd still think it were one of the coolest tank in the world. Simply due to it's design. Then they packed it with a beautiful Indo-Pacific coral and fish. What's not to love? Thank you for the inside look, as a coral lover.
Hi James, the PAR values vary since there is an “experimental” LED only section in addition to the traditional Metal Halide area. On top of that the natural sunlight fluctuates seasonally. Without natural sunlight the test section of LEDs is capable of PAR values exceeding 300umol/m2/s (though dimmed down lower through 0-10v control). The halides get about 100-150 umol/m2/s at the bottom (also dimmable). The lighting system is quite complex though and the control system dims the artificial lights based on natural sunlight values to mitigate seasonality.
Thanks for watching! The sharks seem to be very happy and well cared for there. I am sure that they put in a lot of time, effort, and money into their success being in captivity.
I really enjoyed this tour video. Thank you for sharing. Very similar to a home aquarium just a lot bigger scale. I found it interesting that they use instant ocean salt mix. I would love to know the reasoning behind that. I personally use Instant Ocean Reef Crystals in my our reef. I see online that some people turn their noses at the product, but for me it's a great product and very consistent. Kudos Victor with your generosity and donations to the aquarium.
Thank you for watching and commenting! They get the best pricing on IO salt, and it has been around forever. Reef crystals is also a great salt as well. The alk is a little high, but with a bunch of stony corals in the tank, that can only help!
Hi Gordon, Instant Ocean is a great salt that has proven capable of growing a wide range of marine animals for decades. In addition to cost savings, Instant Ocean is available in commercial super sacks. It isn’t practical to dump hundreds of bags or buckets of salt to create batches of saltwater at this scale.
Rebreathers would solve the bubble issue but bring numerous other problems. They are clunky in smaller aquariums, especially with delicate corals since they have the two small tanks, scrubber, and counterlungs. In addition, they are challenging to maintain buoyancy when constantly changing depth in the shallow water. Rebreathers also take about 30-45 minutes to setup and the same amount of time to break down after each dive. Running through the prechecks alone takes several minutes and problems arise frequently due to the complexity of these setups. They also require a minimum of two divers in the water at the same time whereas surface supply diving is significantly more flexible and integrates a communication system which is important for working dives. Finally rebreathers require a separate certification program that is expensive and time consuming to implement. We utilize CCR frequently for research and conservation efforts but rarely utilize them within the building other than training and practice dives.
Hey Cody, the pH referenced is the pH within the calcium reactor. This low pH promotes the dissolution of the calcium carbonate media making the ions available for the corals to uptake. The pH of the main exhibit is about 8.1 to 8.2.

We appreciate the kind words, and the fact that you are enjoying the content! Thanks for watching!
The amount if engineering behind these tanks blows my mind. Then it's layered with design and knowledge to grow it. So awesome!
Without question the amount of dedication that went into each system was mind blowing
this was a very in-depth video vic, great job. the tidal wave mechanism is a unique idea for such a large environment
Very cool to see. That is something you do not see in every aquarium. They pulled it off right!!!
Amazing video Victor!
Thanks for watching!

Thanks Daniel! We appreciate it. Hopefully this go-around at reefing is a great success 💪
That was awesome
Thank you Larry! We had a blast doing this.
Very cool! I’d love to see the behind the scenes and chat with the scientists!
It is a blast for sure
The best channel ever.
Thank you for the gracious words and your support! We'll keep dropping the content you love 🙌
I love the Georgia Aquarium! It’d be great to one day see some of your corals on display there!
Might be happening sooner than you think!

Can't get enough of that place. I can stare at those tanks all day. Great stress reliever as well! Thanks for watching.
I been in GA for 7 years now and still haven't been to the aquarium yet. I really need to take a day off work this summer and go.
A must see, especially being so close by!
Becoming one of my favorite channels on YT. 👌🙌💯🔥
We thank you for the support!

The passion and care about the corals in the exhibit surely comes through. Thanks for watching!
Great interview and tons of knowledge between these two guys. Agree completely with you!

Thanks for watching!
This looks so awesome!!
Looks like you need to make a trip out there yourself! You'd have a blast!
@@WorldWideCorals I would definitely want to. The whale shark must be something to see in person.
FANTASTIC! Thank you for this!
🙌🙌
Outstanding Job Guys🙌🏼🙌🏼
Much appreciated my friend!
I was there a couple weeks ago and loved it ao much if I lived in Atlanta I would 100% apply to volunteer there. Lovee it so much
I go there every time I am in Atlanta. Can't get enough! Thanks for watching!
I’m editing my video of this amazing place right now.
I can spend all day and night there, if it were an option!

You can tell how much thought they put into that reef display. The surge is just the icing on the cake!
@@WorldWideCorals But I still only count one tank with icing :)
Giving you a hard time. I agree, it's the attention to details. It's stunning
hope you went to the coca cola museum across the quad it was very nice. Georgia aquarium is an amazing place to visit highly recommended.
Did not have time to no 😔😔
I have family in Georgia and i make Shor i go to the aquarium every time i visit. I will definitely be doing the behind the scenes tour next time.
Can't beat that!
I did the behind the scenes tour last year, where you see most of this in person. Highly recommend!
I have too, very worthwhile experience!
This was great !!!
Thanks for watching!
I’m always gonna watch you guys are amazing at what you do!!
I am in love with the penguins
I think they become everyone's favorites lol
AMAZING!
Breathtaking in person!!!
Great video and great questions Vic, the only thing I was curious about was what par was he getting at the bottom of that tank?
Great question! Unfortunately, that was not discussed on this visit, but can be on the next 😁

Love the vid, awesome place, dont agree with the whale sharks though!!!

I wonder what they do with all the frags from coral trimmings?
Wow so cool
This is an aquarium that you dont second guess the price of admission. The whale shark exhibit is breathtaking.
I agree, where else in the world can you see whale sharks swimming right in front of you?!?!? Very inspiring!

Could run rebreather setups so they don’t gotta worry bout bubbles
Very true, but that requires different and very specific certifications. Surely something for them to consider! Thanks for watching!

The Seattle Aquarium just opened their new feature which is a 350 thousand gallon reef.
That would be really cool to see!
Someday I hope to visit
Wow I haven’t been there since I was a kid 🎉🎉🎉
Time for a family trip!
An awesome aquarium to be sure, however, those weekly water changes must be hell😅
Not to mention the costs!!!!🤯
Woah dump buckets?
One hell of a surge system!
Yay!
Thanks for watching!
great video but annoying background music!
Yo thats a bit small for the tangs 🤔
Don't call the tang police!!!🤫
PH around 6.3 what?
What is the timestamp on that one?

@@stephenhartter6806 Correct. Calcium reactor ph(internal) is usually between 6.5 and 7.
@@stephenhartter6806 thank you for clearing that up for me!!
Firstttttt 🎉🎉
Dang it, Ive been watching for 22 minutes.
