Though ecosystems are complicated, how the oceans stay "clean" for life is pretty easy to understand. All the poop and other waste falls to the bottom of the ocean and there are literal species down there designed to just...eat the poop.
Especially since he’s spraying the hose. It’s putting the fecal matter into aerosol form so basically every breath he’s inhaling a ton of poop particles…
At the end they explained that was just sand, the poop had already been filtered out - still extremely gross and I'd probably be wearing full PPE still lol but not like he's spraying waste everywhere with the hose
I have lotsa aquarium and surprisingely, fish poop doesnt smeell or anything compared to other animals. Also, they already went through filters, so all thats left is odorless sludge
@tashacraven You got that very wrong! 11:42 - "most of it is animal waste, there is a little bit sand". He never said what you wrote, that it is just sand.
that’s because even though many aquariums put a lot of effort into making mini-ecosystems in their tanks, the ocean is way bigger with way more organisms to break down all the waste
this is genuinely so incredible. i love the national aquarium in baltimore. its always so stunning and gorgeous but i rarely see many employees around. now i realize that they always are, hard at work keeping these enclosures clean and running. amazing stuff
The Georgia Aquarium is absolutely BREATH TAKING. I get chills every time I see those giant whale sharks. How lucky are we to see such amazing creatures so up close & personal. I also highly recommend the behind the scenes tour.
As a beginner gardener playing with aquaponics, I wonder if all that biomaterial waste is just dumped into sewage treatment or used towards agricultural. There's a lot of good nitrates in there that are great for growing plants.
I got the pleasure to get a behind the seas tour and sleep in front in front of the big window to the ocean voyager. It was so amazing it was a school trip with all the boys in one van we went to to botanical garden and then a night at the at the aquarium
I loved the Georgia aquarium. My favorite part was the Beluga whales, they were so majestic. it just felt crazy that we live on the same planet as them.
I was wondering the same thing, too bad it was not talked about in the video. But then these are salt water aquariums, so the "sludge" sure contains salt, so it may not be suitable for land crops unless further treatment is applied to that sludge.
We used to have sharks at our local zoo. But one night, the filtration system of the aquarium had a malfunction and all the sharks died overnight. Sharks are extremely sensitive towards water quality...one night of limited filtration was enough to kill them.
@@paulhorn9809 Ya'll act like these animals are being mistreated horrendously and aren't being given a fulfilling life with food and plenty of space to roam. Don't get me wrong, there are aquariums and zoos that treat animals horrendously and those places should definitely be exposed and shutdown but ya'll don't understand that a lot of these animals would more than likely live a short life in the wild furthermore majority of the time these animals are well taken care of and loved plenty and it's not like these animals have enough intelligence to understand that they're in a aquarium lol
@@ThiccHarambeGaming That‘s the point. They understand that they are captivity. Would you rather live a short life in freedom or a long one in captivity. I’m sure everyone at the aquarium does a great job and loves the animals. But when u look at the greater picture it’s just not right. I just think it's unthinking to just say everyone should go to the zoo because it's "nice".
@@paulhorn9809 How do they understand that though? I didn't know little fish were capable of intelligence to the point where they could differentiate between an enclosed environment and an open one lol. If I was a fish I'd rather live in a safe and comfortable environment where I can get food everyday and enjoy my fish life comfortably instead of one that I have to fight for my life every single day and constantly having the fear of not having food to survive or having the constant fear of being devoured by some other fish lol. But I understand what you're trying to get at and I agree to an extent but at the end of the day, these little fishies are living a comfortable life where they get food everyday, can probably mate comfortably and not having to worry about being eaten by some other fish although I doubt they fear that since fish aren't that intelligent lol but they are well taken care of in general and aren't being abused. If they were being abused and whatnot than yeah, I'd agree to not go and support that business that abuses those animals and should be shutdown but that's not what's happening here. But I also believe that aquariums are great because they teach people about marine life and to take care of the marine life and it also gives people a good picture of how beautiful marine life is and how it should absolutely be taken care of. Tbh, I'd gladly pay 50$ to go see this aquarium, it's absolutely amazing. I've been to monteray bay aquarium and that place was really amazing but that ocean voyage tank at this aquarium in georgia is absolutely breathtaking and I'd absolutely love to go and see it if I had the money to buy a plane ticket and whatnot lmfao.
I know, right? The way they "walk" around, and the cute little noises they make, made me smile.🥰 My stepson actually used to work there, and unfortunately we weren't able to go when he invited us to take a personal tour. Maybe he can call in a favor and we'll still have a chance to check it out.🤞 I'll even help clean if it means I'd get to hangout with those adorable sea lions! Like you said, they are so cute!
There must be a better way to clean that huge tank out at the end. Rather than lift the buckets I would have thought a suction device anything to make it easier.
Due to its multi million gallon tank the bi carb lateral exhaust system couldn't maintain that amount of draining and possibly clog the tank , so it's easier to sort it out manually to expose and test for any disease that may be in the system to limit any possible infection within the colony as a whole
I worked at an aquarium and cleaning the tanks was actually a highly sought gig. We had people that volunteered to clean the tanks just for free dive time every week or month. They loved it, the visitors loved watching someone inside the tunnels swimming with the marine life, it was very magical and fun to see
I wonder what do they do in zoo's with hippos, i know they have fish in thebsame tank but it is a huge amount of poo. I wonder if it has to be maintained daily as well.
And to think i get annoyed sometimes cleaning my 120L fish tank... 😅 I wonder how they stop the soap and disinfectant contaminating the tanks unless its a special safe one

Its bhagwan creation
