I love your videos with the feral bees and that, but these, I think are my favorites. The ones where you take us all around your very own yard and just talk about what you're doing or have done and hope to do. I'm just livin' the life like my husband and I used to before losing the house with 11 acres. Dang, I miss that. We live in some of those subsidized housing thingys. It's a sad day.
It’s good to see your dad out there with you checking out the bees. I remember when we would take my granddaddy some honey and it had a cone in the jar. He loved it when the jar we took him had the cone in there. That’s a great memory of my granddaddy
Loved seeing your papa again! You were my first 'bee guy' to watch during the pandemic. Now I am a beekeeper myself, 1 Horizontal Hive and growing! Thanks to you!
"only thing holden them together is termites holding hands." Your a funny dude Rooster. I guess the reason you rarely wear a bee suit is since you have a walrus suit on all the time :)
Greetings from Ireland. Wonderful to see your Dad in such good form. Havent watched your vids for a bit and last time he was sick. Great to see him out again
Randy, I was certainly glad to see your dad in this video. He seems to be getting around pretty good even though he’s using 2 canes! Keep him moving as much as you can and maybe he will park one of those canes and go on a few more cutouts with you! You got more bees there than I would know what to do with. Keep the videos coming and we’ll keep watching them!
Hi Randy, my bees have gone swarm cell crazy I counted 18 cells on one brood frame, 14 hives split and 3 swarms captured in my bait boxes my apiary just got doubled in just over a weekend man I’m exhausted. Thank you for sharing your videos with us Randy mate.
When I first read the title, "Swarm Catching Machine" I said to myself, att ohh here we go Mr Ed (Jeff Horcoff) must have stopped in lol. Hum just kidding, are y'all in competition again this year? lol. Nice to see your daddy joining in!!! ....
Perspective in life is everything. To me putting a handful of bees into the cup holder of my car is something I would never even consider doing. But 628DirtRooster, that's just a Monday.
The only thing holding that together is the termites holding hands....... LMAO 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Rooster, I haven't heard that saying since my Pappy was alive in the '90's. You are so funny. 😂😂😂
I Love that 🎉 I am getting some Sanford and son frames also 😁 it will cut down on start up cost. And give the new hives a lived in before scent. I did soak them in ACV to kill any mold or pest eggs.
Nice catch Randy. You didn't even have to run out anywhere for them. Also nice to see Dad up and moving around. I know he had a little trouble right as you were leaving for California. God Bless and keep posting videos.
Only thing holding the box together " termites holding hands" now that had me lol. I'm 67 now and miss the days of beekeeping in Hammond, La. and the USDA BEE LAB IN B.R. La.
Love to see what happens behind the scenes so to speak very educational after this we just need a whataburger lol love to watch ur videos I just get in trouble staying up watching them sometimes another lol
I truly enjoy watching your videos. I could watch longer ones. But just to tell you. I am extremely scared of bees. So as I'm watching you and bees fly towards me and anything touch me even the cord to my tablet whatever and I jump like crazy. You probably think it's hilarious. If I were watching me I would think it was hilarious too. I'm glad you got a good sense of humor just thought I'd let you know. Keep up the good work I truly enjoy it
Randy how has your dad been doing? Thank you for all the videos been looking forward to the season so we could see what the bees and you were up to. I’m always looking for more and more vids you are one of the YTs that is very interesting, educational, fun and makes you want to watch something that maybe would not have been of interest before. Thank you so much! God bless your family and take care! 🐝❤️🙏❤️
@@628DirtRooster Welcome home. I take it you found people in California got a little confused by your accent? Of course - I don't hear an accent, even though yours is much more pronounced than mine is. Drone comb. LOL
Man those boxes look rough! But boy oh boy are you pullin in some handsome looking swarms!!! That brood in the first box was solid!!! Wow!!! Love what you’re doing Sir! Keep up the great content! 🐝😎 P.S. How’s your Papa! Haven’t heard. Hope he’s well and on his way to a healthy recovery Sir. It was good to see him in the video.
Gotta say, I’m pretty jealous of all the smoker fuel you have all around your feet! Lol not so readily available in my part of ky! And that was a super solid brood pattern in that swarm.
🤣 Termites holding hands! I'm hesitant to throw away old boxes for that very reason...swarms are highly attracted to the scent left behind by all the previous bees that have resided there. It's especially good to see your Pop up and around - just hope he doesn't over do. Take care.
What were you looking for in the Drone Combs? I couldn’t make out what you said... (have to admit here that I am watching at 2X speed, I just have too much to get through when I’m not working!)
I had a swarm on saturday, was transferring a nuc to a ten frame when i heard this load roaring sound look to what was happening and bees in the air going in circles. Looked like they were going to go high in this tree, so i grab my lemon grass oil a put on drop on a lower branch wouldnt you know it worked
Hey Randy, @2:33, at the top of the screen to the left of your head--up in the top of that tree--is that a swarm? There's a ball of something dark colored up in that tree.
What would one do with a jar full of bee pollen? I only ask cause on a drive this weekend i stopped by a road side honey vendor who was selling mason jars full along side jars of honey.
People eat it. Some pollen is tasty and some is not I've tried it from my own hives. I think it's a bad idea to take pollen where I live. Hives I harvested pollen from got weak so I quit doing it.
I did a walkaway split 1 week ago. Since then the main hive has been very aggressive and will attack if you get in where near it (30-40 ft. away). Has stung 3 people so far that was not near the hive and when they got my wife on the porch she was ready to gas them. What would cause this? Should I just plan on replacing the queen? It has been a very strong hive and some what aggressive (8-10 ft.) in the past but not like now. I thought they would settle down in a couple of day but does not look like it going to happen
Rooster my mom and I just started beekeeping we had two hives behind our standalone garage in regular bee boxes. Today Orkin was on the property to spray the main house nothing even remotely close to the bees. My mom walked away from him for 5 minutes to let the horse out of the barn and when she came back he said to her "I gave those bees back there a double dose they might swarm for a bit but they will die." My mom made him aware of the bees our pets and the horse before he sprayed anything but he obviously ignored her. He only sprayed one of the two hives saying he didn't even notice the other one that was 5 feet away from the one he murdered but we are concerned for the living bees. I was just wondering if you had any advice. We are at a loss right now and are just dumbfounded by the situation. It's truly heartbreaking.

Good to see your dad up and about. What was that ( disease or infection) you were looking for when you pulled that drown com a part?
Varroa mites
What is all this rain going to do to the tallow flow.
Hush yo mouth! Hold off that rain. I guess a little wouldn’t hurt. We have to have some for the trees to produce.
It's been raining here in Iowa , for almost a week, and it feels like fall here.
If a hive moves in a old hive, can we move them to new hive at nighttime, is that easy way to migrate to new box and relocate them ?
Nice video Randy. Are the bees going to accept a mated queen if there are still some capped swarmcells of the old queen in the hive?
love it, termites holding hands
Do you clip the queens like we do in Spain
The boxes that just keep giving...Mr. Ed is just jealous. Haha!
You got that right!
It’s interesting that you don’t use a lid liner to cut down on lid clutter.
I use nylon window screen on supers with plastic frames in them.
Randy that wasn’t a swarm @7:10 on the top left of the screen in the pines?
Squirrel nest

@@628DirtRooster - thanks! No way would I have figured that out ... even if I went to half speed... (I watch everything in 2X ... 😳😉)
Is there any way you can cap the queen cells, so that you can save new queens to use for splits?
The bees will cap them at the eight day mark
Isn’t there a cage that you can put over the queen cell to capture & save the queen, so that you can put her with another hive before she is killed?

What about the queen cups/cells?
When you pull the frames, is there a special way they have to be put back in? I mean can a framed be put back anywear in any order?
Sometimes they need to go back like they came out and sometimes they need to be moved for one reason or another. Lots of variables.
Love watching you. Need some sleep though lol
When you catch a swarm that's 6 or 7 pounds of bees; do you put a 3rd deep box on a hive sometimes, or make splits?
