It's been decided... we want to CHANNEL the car 4 inches 😎

- We've been back and forth on whether we should channel the body OR keep it a highboy. We don't really enjoy the look of all the holes in the side of the frame so that's what made us decide to channel it. By channeling it 4", it will bring the body down far enough that the frame will be hidden. The first step will be to strengthen up the b-pillar 🦾

The bead rolling doesn’t need to be perfect as long as the floor gets stiffened. If you don’t own a bead roller, you can make a die out of a piece of hardwood , carve out a half round groove slightly larger than the bead you want to account for the thickness of the sheet metal, then use a piece of metal rod and hammer the rod into the sheet metal placing another piece of hardwood over the steel rod so you don’t bend the rod. Diagonal bead rolls can be made.
If the body drops 4" - what happens to the rear-end stance you wanted to keep? Not to mention, the 4" over your head is from sitting at floor level - 4" seat bottom ?
Plus he was sitting about 4" lower than the bottom of his measurement.
Hi Chad, Jolene, & Fina it's Sunday fun day! You are getting closer to fitting the floor to the body! Chad don't forget that you need racing helmet clearance , I only mention it because those can be the kind of thing that I might not think about at the time! Jolene great work as always you are so good at running the channel and everything that is involved! Fina I hope you are having a fun day!
Racing helmet 🤣🤣. That car will be rolled out to his back yard and never driven once he’s done fabricating it.
You mean fabri-cobble it together
Why’s everyone getting so riled? It’s his project, he’ll build it his way. Allot of times, I kind of get lost on what he’s doing, but I sit back and watch the progress. As far as mistakes, if you never make mistakes, you never do anything. At least he doesn’t edit them out like some other builder videos.
People don't understand that Chad likes a challenge. The more people say it can't be done the more he wants to prove them wrong. I have the same attitude. Go for it Champ! 😉✌
I love it ,when he proves them wrong .@@michaelbristol6467
@@stephenk79-rc1il I see you still talking how about just watch or go post on your TH-cam channel about your custom Prius?
I enjoy the training and learning aspect of what they present to us each day.If you don't enjoy what there visions are than you have the choice to watch something else.
Thank you guys for showing us your vision and giving us choices .😊
I get the feeling there isn't 1 car in his barn that has 100 miles of road credentials to prove it's made to function. They seem to all be "trailer queens" and never meant to actually drive LIKE a CAR. Just parked and photorgraphed.
I'm not sure if you will see this i just have to say I real enjoy watching your videos and watching the build so very cool love to wear your hats and shirts just can't right now saving up for a mini bike for my grandson, can't wait to see the car going down the road ill be as happy as you will be just blows my mind 30 days and giving your help the props they deserve very cool keep up the GREAT WORK I won't miss a show ty
Hey! Chad, Jolene ! Thanks for helping me fill my Fun Sunday, Enjoy your videos and even though I'm to old to Fabricate anything if I were younger I would use some of your techniques; find them interesting and the basics of what everyone should know! Jolene , watch when you peep through windows with your cam, never know what some on here might think! lol. hey Fina girl!
What happened to the match car build? The one with the hood that tipped forward.
“I’m Bad Chad and I’m the greatest fabricator of all time. If you think you’re better than me you’re a liar.”Now pass me that coat hanger and let’s make some bird droppings.
Chad your ego will be your downfall.
BTW most people learn from their mistakes and correct the procedure, you just figure out how to get past them and continue making them. JS
Good job as always Jolene just remember what goes up must come down
Karl Fisher does alot of bead rolling and don't make those mistakes...Make it kustom
316 thousand subs ! Do you honestly think your 18 c a view matters hahaha
BOXSTATECOLORADO. THAT COMMENT. THAT SHIT IS FUNNY DEAD ON. 😁 😂 😀 🤣
lol
@@georgegunner662 Yeah, but to be fair, Karl is light years ahead in the skill and fabrication department
That engine is going to get in he way of the drivers view
the engine is quite low dude
Go for it bad Chad if you don’t like it, you know what to do. Just love the build. roll on Jolene!!!!!
I keep hearing you say “ time is money” but is a business to you.
To other it is a hobby not a race for completion.
You do not have to drill out all those Chad you have a hole punch for that! Why don’t you try it the welds are stronger and I’m not lying !
That’s what I was going to say, about using a hole punch which is pretty fast if you ask me.. Faster than grinding the holes like he did..
Chad, you sound like my old dentist when he's working on my teeth. He talks to himself like that. "I'll take a little off this tooth here and put a little filling here." LOL
Hopefully this one gets finished before moving to the next one. I still want to see the Terraplane finished and the Hot Wheels car finished.
Yard art
Wo t happen.
You and your crew inspired me last night and today to get my interior finished and custom battery tray complete. I'll guarantee Chad you haven't seen a truck like mine. Hint: '69 Japanese truck sir. Keep up the good work everyone.
I would have put 4" sells on each side of the car that way it would cover the frame i think it would be much easier and less work and time an it would look better and you would have more head room an it wount look out of place because he going to race the floor 4" so that's 4" up long the bottom of the doors not only that it's going to throw the wheel wells off. Thats funny he is saying he build a car in 30 days its not going to be finished so if the car is not all the way finished then the car it not built in 30 days.
I don't know to much about cars. But I believe that shifter is gonna be right in front of the firewall.
Is he allowing for the seat ? He should have enough height for a boat cushion on the floor to sit on.
If you drop it 4" the back tires won't fit in the wheel wells. The way the body sits is part of what made it so cool. Sure looks like the tires will rub the body in the back, and it also reduces the interior space even more. I think the tunnel is bigger than it needs to be too. Love the chop and the car, but I think this is a mistake to channel it. I also think you should try to make a bench seat work if possible.
The tunnel can't be any lower because the engine and transmission are sitting high up in the frame. No way a bench seat will work because the tunnel is more like a console.
so? what's your point?
Wish they had content like this when I was younger but man am I glad it exist now, keep doing what your doing, love it👍👍🇺🇲
If there is 4 inches of head room, with you sitting on the floor, aren't there going to be any seats?
HE plans for Jolene to drive it while lying down!
it'll be fine just tighten your chinstrap and watch and see lol
It's a GREAT call on the channeling the car ready to set back with some a cold something and some popcorn and let the show start BADCHAD SWEET JOLENE FINA THE STAR
I never mess up bead rolling 😮 cause i dont do it lol😅😅😅😂😎👍
neither do the haters
The rear body lines at the tire will also change ...
oh no! lol
Dang...I was hoping for hi-boy but its your project! I certainly enjoy watching all you do. No critic here, just a follower and admirer......keep up the nice work!
With the roof chop and now the 4 inch channel the gearshift will be at the roof.
hope so that'd be cool
Good show Chad and Jolene thanks guys can’t wait to see the body on the frame it’s going to look amazing !!!!!!!!👍
Watching whilst on a train from Penang to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. Ill have to watch again later as i have the volume off out of respect for other passengers on the train
When metal separates in layers like that it because of corrosion, water has gotten in there and caused it to corrode and separate. That's why the metal separated because of rust. You would've been better off cutting the bottom of the B Pillar out completely and rebuild that section from scratch. Instead of welding it together. It's much weaker weld, all you've done is trapped the rust behind the weld, your just covering up rust. I'm not saying it won't hold up, but it would been better and much stronger to rebuild it from scratch to restore it to its maximum strength. When you weld rust all your doing is trapping in the impurities which weakens the fusion process. Which causes you to end up with a weak weld.
You do an excellent job of teaching/explaning your process. Thank you for the content
I’m pretty sure when you measure something to fit the way you want it to.. You have to measure it the right way.. I love watching what they build and I don’t like too say he’s doing something wrong, because I don’t know what’s in his head.. But if you want 4” and nothing more than that, then you should measure from underneath the floor section, not from the top of the floor.. But what do I know, I’m just a ex contractor who measured for a living..
Why does everything need to be done quickly??? How about correctly and in good time? It's not a race or is it? What is your motivation? Are you on a time line we're not aware of???
It has to be finished by November for the SEMA show in Las Vegas..LOL
Late September for the 1/8 mile drags. Dale Earnhardt wasn't the best because he was slow or Muhammad Ali or Carl Lewis. 😉✌
People complain about what they are doing but try to put a video out every day and see how it works for you all.
You still watch every episode.
Give them a break 😊
Im confused.when you measured your head room you were sitting on the floor. What about the seat.
Yeah now he knows how thick to make the seat. If he makes a 3 inch seat and there's 5 then there's still 2 for headroom. 😉✌
@@michaelbristol6467 yeah but if he goes over jumps with this car that’s not enough, he’ll hit his head! 😮
Ah won't be no more tight than the Corvette. 😉✌
chopped channelled floored fully modded custom cool car .loving it thanks as always
Awesome idea! That's RAD! Cannot wait to see the end result!
😂 no chance see the end result
I like what you are doing with the car. It would be nice to see what it looks on the frame first. Then to see what it looks like after it is channeled.
Chad and Jolene are putting alot of their time and money into this show, Thanks guys enjoy watching, if I didn't I would watch something else.
Sounds like a plan 👍 Go for it Team Hiltz 👁 🐅 👌
Glad to see it is getting close to mounting the floor to the body
Chad and Jolene , Your plan for channeling the Plymouth Coupe down 4 inches is moving along well.
Nice work. Floor looks super
I guess I’m just lost on this one, if you chopped the top and now you are going to drop the body to cover the frame your seats are going to hit the roof of the car and there’s no room to sit in the car to drive it… ??
As if it will ever be driven
Those are small details that have to be done to all the millions of cars that have been chopped and channeled. Just have to modify the seats now no big deal. Jolene is only 100lbs she doesn't need much room. If you're 6'3 and 300lbs yeah you might think twice. 😉✌
Jolene is short so it doesn't matter
@@EugeneLangowski-g2n and if Chad wants to drive he can stick his head out the drivers side door window
wah wah
The comments bother him that bad? Maybe try another trade or don't make videos for public
Man has a big heart
Are you allowing for the seat, they are 4 to 6 inches high.?
Need to do a 4 inch drop on the seats
How does the transmission come out ? With a zip cut….
the whole floor frame comes off with body.....transmission will be as simple as unbolting and lifting out.....
Pretty sure this has been covered a dozen times by Chad, and even more times in the comments.
Clearly people don't bother watching or listening.
@@holleyciggy it's all welded to the original chassis.
@@barryprice7230 36:47 Chad distinctly says it can come off. Its only spot welded to the frame.
@@NickDanger1957 you can figure this one out on your own Nick. We can’t keep holding your hand buddy.
4 inch channel then put steal salad bowls large ones for head room
LOL
Double-bubble top
😂
I would of went all the way up to bottom of windows with that steel you put in just for extra strength and hold the door hinges better with only four points on that old body you want to stiffen her up as much as possible rember there are bumps on the road way
I always Love it when people say: "Well I'm not an expert, but I think you should be doing"...
I know what my Chiropractor does to my back, but I don't tell him what he should be doing...
If you think you're sooo much smarter, maybe you should start your own channel, so we can all learn sooo much from you....
Go for it chad like I know you will...it will be badazzzzzz...and so much negativity...geesh..glad you don't let that get to ya..life is too short..cya tomorrow Chad and jolene
Drop the front 2inch leve the rear fill the holes in the frame job done. But thats my opinion.
Great job Chad! Transparent as a person can be, love that. My favorite channel 🙂😊
for a car that will collect dust
Another 1 run wonder!
wah wah wah
Always great content Bad Chad and Jolene, Happy Sunday.
He will probably have to modify the wheel wells now after dropping it 4 inches.
🌴 Channeling it will keep it from looking like a Hi boy , getting the Karrr, down lower gives it a more desirable look , I really wanna see it set on the frame to see the stance .🤔 did you allow for any rubber mounts between the frame and body ?
go for it Chad , Happy Sunday all
Chad and Jolene do it your way 👍👍
I really don't know if this cars well gets done, but let's see what happens.
Good...been wondering if you would look at doing this. BUT should this not have been done BEFORE the roof chop? My concern is the headroom or lack of? And now that the floor has been made will the car body fit over it?
After he does all that and puts the seats in, their heads will be hitting the ceiling.
@@steves2241 He said they would just lean the seats back a bit to compensate and that would be OK because they have the taller windshield. Time will tell if he is right or have to fashion yet another work around.....But this project is certainly more interesting than some of the others. Perhaps because I have always had a liking for 5 window coupes and because my parents had a '34 Plymouth 4 door sedan which was the first family car that I remember
@@grantscrimgeour1848 Yeah I know, I watched the video.
What about the height of the car seat?
I think the one main ingredient that you forgot was the seat unless your going to sit on the floor , think about it I seen you take the measurements for head height
Thanks for the Sunday episode Jolene! It works real nice for my fix🤩
Stoked. 🤘😎🔥
This is going to look awesome.
Chad the comments seem to have you set off. Remember youre great.
Chad you're right about how you done the car floor it is the quickest way you have done it like you have said ones you have put the stone guard paint on it you won't see the you have done it .👍
Awesome, thanks
you are funny Chad, Jolene still doing one hell of a great job on the camera and
Fina is a such a cutie
OK, so, I'm watching this right now. Chad, slow down a bit, where all watching, fast or slow, you'll enjoy it more if you slow down. It's all good, sectioning that thing adds to the interest, which is a good thing, there's nothing negative going on I restore cars/hot rod them. It takes time, it can't be rushed. Maybe extend the production time a little, I like the chat/what you say/talk about.
Gazzer uk over n out.
It would be easy to install the hockey tape now everything is opened up
Sunday Funday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
Chad i feel you should know there are many reasons why you should always weld from the bottom up. ask AI for the reasons there are at least 6 good reasons
the reason he doesn't is because the way he has been doing it works fine....don't fix what isn't broken🤷🏻♀️
AI 😆 Welcome to the real world. 😉✌
@@michaelbristol6467 chat gpt is handy and free i dont feel like typing out all the reasons. welcome to the new world
@@holleyciggy yes its fine for non-structural but my point is that it could be a safety issue on structural steel . in that case its not fine. and it can break more easily
I like how it is turning into a cool ride. Nice work.
Sup @BadChad & Jolene? Had fun watching!
Your Biggest and most important assistant is Queen Jolene!
So you're checking your head-room sitting on the floor. That shifter is gonna be at Jolene's shoulder.
Ranting again!!!!!
Thanks for sharing with us today.
You measure 4 inches with your ars sitting on the floor are you not putting seats in this thing? Will the seat in it now you're looking at 8 inches, your heads through the roof..are you putting a moon roof too?
I'm sure the original seats were really high
Guys got issues
A legend in his own mind
Let’s get back on the Hot wheels car
I say some negative things about Chad but I really think that nobody and I mean nobody can build as fast as him and I truly believe that the floors he does is very smart because he obviously knows that he's working with twisted up junk so when he builds the floors like he does means it will always come out perfect to whatever twisted frame he's working with.
A suggestion. Instead of saying, you're a liar!, which makes you appear to be an accuser. Because, you haven't seen all the others and their supposed perfect work. So. Maybe say. "I haven't seen everyone's work of a perfect beadroll so, you (meaning them) have to live with your statement.". Then, humbly say, "I am not perfect yet! So, i will take your word for it and I'll keep working at making a better product.".
That way, you haven't tried to appear "holier than thou!" and they can think about their statement of lying or not. That way you're not accusing without the facts of the matter. Just my outside look on this.

Enjoy watching your channel.
Maybe some day l well get down there to see you guys! and the car Museum! That would be amazing.
I'm following you very closely. It's sure is nice to see step by step progress. It's obvious you love your work, but if you love your work then it's not work it's fun. Keep the fun coming. My Dream Team Fun.
Still looks like a great project… will be nice to see the channeling in action
What I see at this point having to channel the car now, now at this point wouldn't he be, cutting rear wheel wells out, just as much as the channel!
That is why they have school for actors . If Arnold can become a super star u should have no problem just a SAG card and a agent . really they look for mostly the appeal on camera and a presence that draws an audience which u have abundance of .
U need some cheese with that wine
They already cut all that out of the car and if more needs to be cut out, he’ll cut more out of it…
Beautiful car💪🧑🏭
I kind of thought you were going that way, it's gonna be cool!!!
ÓTIMO TRABALHO. PARABÉNS.
Jolene does good job with that camera. Keep the good job up.
I have a 1940 Chevy buisiness coupe and a 1941 the 41 is all there doors and windows work great I would trade it for some floor work on my 1940
Chad is getting better every day , he is very good at showing how to do stuff, with Jolenes great filming. It is so close up and personal, I keep trying to protect my eyes. That is the best you can do. These profectionists that want to make high dollar builds that are trailor queens take the fun out of using their cars for fun. This coupe will be a fun car for Jolene to race, and it just bleeds nostalgia. It takes me back to the sixties and seventies when we drove cars like that everyday. I am felling younger every day watching you guys. Thanks
he was better when he had the t v show.
G'day Chad and Queen Jolene.
The car's looking good it's coming together awesomely.
Jolene, your camera work is second to none. Your amazing.
Q. Do you have a directors chair.
So thanks for sharing the knowledge Chad ✌️ Peace from Melbourne Australia.
Hi all from Trois-Rivieres Quebec
Time to start another project - lol
obviously, this channel is not for you…
Do you have tip cleaners. You can get them at Canadian tire. They also work for welding tips. Torch tips you name it.
Good. Idea. To chanel ❤❤❤❤
your a better man than Iam Chad I would have used way different word than you used, so many back yard know it all's here thank's for taking the time to explain things' for everyone who want's to listen and learn
