I've worked in documentary television, and I want to note that documentary filmmakers face enormous pressure to "find the thing". Time Team are rightly respected for not tying themselves in knots trying to claim the expedition has found whatever was sought - science doesn't work that way, and finding the unexpected, or even coming up empty handed, is not only valid but very instructive. I am sure I join all Time Team fans in thanking the producers for bringing us along for the adventure, come what may. Selfishly, I will note that there wouldn't be any suspense - or fun - if we knew in advance we would find exactly what we are looking for. I raise a glass in distant California for Stewart; the preceptory lies out there, waiting. I hope he is the one to find it.

The only thing missing was Tony insisting it was a failure because they didn't find exactly what they set out for, and Mick arguing that that only made it MORE successful, since they now had so many more questions to answer! 🤭💗 Truly, tho -- I always love to see a Stewart episode! His boundless, infectious optimism lifts my spirits as much as it exasperates John Gater .
(I mean that in the best of ways, of course -- I'm a current Patreon member and I've been enamored with Time Team for ages, ever since I discovered it as one of the earliest shows available to watch on the PBS website... I think even before TH-cam was a thing! )

I am enjoying this new format. I felt that Tony, Mick and Phil were the star characters of the original team with a splendid supporting cast. No-one could replace the 'stars'. The new format with Gus as more of a narrator and the team being pretty much equal and discussing things with each other is very different but I think it works. And it's always good to see several of the original team.

I have to say, I was very impressed by the illustrator Christa Hook's depictions of historical scenes - she is just as talented as Victor Ambrus, and I think I actually prefer her style! It's vividly coloured, and she has an obvious fondness for sketching animals. It looks like skillfully applied watercolour pencil and ink wash - very nicely done! It would be brilliant if we could actually see her drawing these scenes, the way we used to with Victor sketching away, perched on a camp stool with his trusty drawing board. Us artists don't get nearly as much credit or recognition as we deserve - archaeologists get all the glory, but they would be lost without the beautiful work of potters, jewellers, stained glass makers, and coin smiths, to dig up!

Having heard of the show a few times, I've only recently found Time Team on TH-cam. I was a field archaeologist for 10 seasons in Israel. The first episodes I watched, I was nitpicking everything shown and just irritated at the notion that archaeology with any scientific value could be done in 3 days. Now that I've watched a fair number of episodes, and particularly these newest digs, I see I was wrong. I'm fascinated by each frame - often pausing to try to "read" the topography. I even try to glimpse the find tags. I do hope that Time Team - in particular an International Time Team - can come into regular production - even if I have to wait another decade to see the episodes form America.

Thank you so much Tim and all the Time Team crew. Absolutely loved these 3 episodes. Great to see and hear Richard again, as well as all the old and new faces. Wonderful to see history brought to life as only Time Team can.

Thanks for the great viewing, I also loved seeing Dr Helen Geake as had a crush on her since the early days, but beyond that the knowledge that everyone provides has always been a standout of Time Team. Love the technology now that is so exciting, but Victor and his wonderful artist drawings from the old days were pretty great too. Thanks everyone for the hard work.

A thoroughly enjoyable weekend, thank you to you all in the Time Team. I thought the soft presenting approach was particularly on point and isn’t it great to have Tony back even just for the intro. Keep on digging 👏

I do like the one day an episode format. I also like the calmness of the show. Reminds me of Mick’s calm nature of his digs. Looking forward to another three day dig and what will be found.

I really appreciate the more collegiate atmosphere which Dr Gus encourages. Much less frenetic and stagey than with Sir Tony. Everyone is kinder. Better atmosphere. Long time fan from the first-ever TT shows.

This dig lived up to the original time team. Thanks so much. The best factual series ever. The only thing that would improve it is a week not 3 days. 🥰😍🤩🤩😁
