      I never said understanding anywhere, since I meant that as you actually listening to the song and not just having it as a background task, since Bo is famous for having multiple meanings hidden in the song.
      And look at the crowd's reaction as well: "Whooooo" as soon as he goes back at it. They are just vibing despite the nuke he just dropped.
      Don't tell me most of the theatre that paid for it wasn't understanding it at all.
      And it's not even a care about it or not, since my friend who's mental health is excelent went right back to vibing as well, and as soon as the song was over he asked:
      "Btw, shouldn't we send some well wishes to the dude?"

      I used to think reactions to this song were a good way of telling if people had trauma or were neurodivergent but now I just think it’s a good way of telling if people listen to music lyrically or sonically. Agreeing with the rest of the comments. It's always nice to see someone appreciating just how much work goes into his performance, but it feels a little empty if you're not also talking about the content of the lyrics when he gets 'serious'. Kind of exactly proves Bo's point about how he can say anything if he makes it pretty, makes it rhyme.

"As he attempts to give you what he CANNOT give himself" and "a part of me NEEDS you, a part of me fears you" I mean, come on! And it *is* a bop, that's why it lands so heavy. At face value his 'problems' are funny, but then when you think of his problems as analogies for real problems he was facing: can't reach the pringles in the bottom of the can = I can never reach happiness, I want to have a daughter to finally help me reach happiness... chipotle burrito spilling out everywhere = fame, I would have never chased fame and notoriety if I knew it came with everything that it comes with... "I wouldn't have gotten half this sh*t if I knew it wouldn't fit"... And then he ends with a moment of honesty with the crowd, but acknowledges that he's a comedian and that he can't actually share his problems with them and if he just "makes it funny, makes it rhyme" it doesn't matter what he says, they will all laugh anyways.
    I saw this show live, and I remember in the moment thinking "I don't think we are supposed to be laughing at this?" and the crowd was... come to find out it literally was Bo saying he's not ok

      Beat me to it. While Britt does a great job of describing how Bo recreates Kanye's style (for which, not being a Kanye fan, I'll have to take her word but interesting nonetheless), like a lot of other reactors I've seen and seemingly a large part of the audience that night the abrupt tonal shift in the second half of this song gets missed . Bo is describing his own mental anguish in a deeply moving, heartfelt way, and even sardonically predicts people will fail to understand his message when he says "You can tell them anything/If you just make it funny, make it rhyme."
      "All Eyes on Me," where he describes his years-long battle with panic attacks, would be a good follow-up to this song.

      I have been in tears hearing this song more often then not. I don't know that I ever took it as needing unhealth to get it, but more empathy than narcissism. Is this song a presentation made for the audience or a personal message being put out to the world? Just like the words, the truth is it is both. I've always found the last line to be the most genius. "I hope you're happy". I think he genuinely wants to bring Happiness to people, but it's also perfectly passive aggressive.

  • @The1SSGrant
    @The1SSGrant ปีที่แล้ว +50

    The chipotle burrito isn’t just a funny verse for this song, it’s also a metaphor for his fame and success and how it’s not what he expected and how it has affected him in ways he never would’ve thought, especially regarding mental health. And how he feels like things are just a mess.
    “Wouldn’t have got half of it if I knew it wasn’t going to fit” demonstrates the pain/anxiety he bears as a performer…
    “a part of me loves you, a part of me hates you, a part of me needs you, part of me fears you”. Speaking of his own insecurity and need to perform but also feeling like he’s just being a caricature of himself.
    He bears his real problems on stage but then everyone breaks into applause when he says “ I should probably just shut up and do my job…” which I imagine could feel like, “just entertain us, we don’t wanna hear it”… and Bo recognizes that but I bet it could feel bad when you’re someone like Bo who thinks and feels very deeply. Everything is layered with him.
    He’s a genius in the truest sense and often that comes with a felt sense of reality that is different than most people and comes with carrying a lot of weight.

    • @Whitesquall123
      @Whitesquall123 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It absolutely could be a complete coincidence he used two perfect metaphors in his song about life being too overwhelming.

      She's too focused on making silly faces to the camera. Gotta nail that thumbnail picture, rather than focus on the point of the song/ performance. This video by Bo, show's who the real reactors are, and the ones that are just going through the motions.

    The satirical nature of this is only half of it. It’s mainly how Bo can’t handle all of the expectations, fame,etc. He is actually having a panic attack during the last bit of the rant. The last scream/ha was real. If you look closely you see his hands shaking. After the show he broke down in his dressing room and cried for 2 hours. This is the prequel to “All eyes on me”

If I was in the audience listening to this I could not get myself to clap in the end...I'd just be like fuck I'm here supporting his mental breakdown and anxiety.

    What I wouldn't give to see one of bo's specials live. I'm happy he took a break though, and I was happy to see him a little less hard on himself on his newest special. Bo was a kid on TH-cam one-day and the next he was hanging with the giants of the comedy world. Who wouldn't be crushed by such a rapid rise? If Bo can find it in him to love himself then I have hope for humanity.

    He says in an interview that when he satirizes something of someone, it’s more because he appreciates their talent. He absolutely loves the theatre of Kanye’s old shows so this is more of a tribute than a joke. Though he also admits this was all written before Kanye became a problem.

    I always find it crazy that this man bared his soul literally telling everyone that his mental health is decking and that he’s in a constant battle between being the entertainer but being true to himself all the while struggling internally and the crowd just applaud like, “wow that’s so entertaining!”
    Feel the reaction here was similar, missing the point or the gravity of what he’s saying and instead bopping along to the catchiness of the track as he ploughs through the deepest part, at one point literally screaming in anguish.

    I usually love your reactions, but you totally missed the point of the performance. A lot of us know what it feels like to not “fit” (Pringles can) and we take on things in life that we think we “want” only to see they they don’t fit either (the burrito). He was actually having a panic attack on stage and was so honest that he loves/hates/needs/fears the audience and is struggling with his mental health. The third scream near the end wasn’t planned and was authentic. He cried backstage and didn’t perform for five years after this. 🤷🏻‍♀️ “look at them just staring at me , like come and watch the skinny kid with steadily declining mental health… and laugh as he attempts to give you what he cannot give himself..” the show is called “Make Happy”. 🤦🏻‍♀️

    pringles can represents the small "opening" that a person has reach or given goal, desire, or idealized self/situation; not being able to reach what you want. the burrito is about trying to do to much or fit to much into your life, "trying to have it all", only to see it all fall apart.

I think Bo admires Kanye a lot, but also relates to his mental health problems a lot.
