What I find beautiful is that even though the first half was funny and seemingly unrelated, it was also a metaphor for how he felt as a performer. He gained popularity too fast, he had more than he could handle, and he would have cut back if he knew it would make him feel this way. Bo really is a genius.
I LOVED watching you laugh at this. Also, you're the first person I've seen comment on his excellent crowd control when he made everybody put their hands up, making them feel that connection with the Pringles dilemma. 🙂
I always saw this as him saying his temporary goodbye. I feel like people act like he left this show and then decided to take time off. But this was him straight up telling us “I can’t handle this right now” like he’s overwhelmed and needs to step back and take care of his own health. Nobody told him the burrito might get too full. So he’s taking some stuff out to make it fit.
@@R3F1C everything in this skit was metaphor to his life even pringles can. "i can't handle this right now" > Pringles CAN, he CANT put his HAND inside the pringles CAN. CANT HANDLE. He wants a daughter cause she would be small enough to put her hands in pringles can > when he was younger he was able to handle this but now that he is grown up he cant handle this anymore. burito is the metaphor for all the things he wish he didnt do, all the songs he made that now that he is grown up he understands were wrong and the part about "burito expert" not telling him about it is metaphor for all the people who just cheered him on instead of educating him how wrong it is to say things he did. He realized he can get away with anything as long he can make it funny and for a long time he was pushing the boundaries to see how much he can get away with not realizing what he was doing is putting himself in position where he dont know how to properly live as all he knows is pushing that boundary. When it finally caught up to him he was not prepared to deal with it which is why he COULDNT HANDLE IT. and why he needed long break to fix up his life... and then covid came and gave his mental health a wedgie :(
haven't seen someone laugh so much during this song (especially at the beginning) and i've watched a lot of reactions to this video 😂 loved your reaction, put a proper smile on my face. keep up the awesome work!
Bo’s content has a ton of levels. I would suggest watching his earlier stuff before doing too much from the “inside” special- the context is really important to ‘get’ that one. Enjoyed the reaction looking forward to more! Maybe ‘straight white male’ for a classic Bo comedy song.
Bo was literally one of the first TH-cam content creators and he was still in high-school when he started becoming famous. I'm sure that comes with money but a lot of demons.
He was actually having a panic attack for this whole thing, but he knew his act so well that he just did it. Then he went backstage and broke down for a while. It's not something a lot of people talk about.
If I recall, that last shout into the mic during the breakdown wasn't planned and it shook everyone backstage, especially since he had a breakdown for 90 minutes after this performance.
Massive Bo Burnham fan who came here because of that. Your video rocked, and ill be checking out more of your content because i like your style. As for what was going on with him, if you don't know, that was his last song before he left the industry for years. The burrito was a metaphor for his life and fame and it was just all too much for him. At that point, he was regularly having panic attacks on stage and people didn't realize because he was such a good comic. Knowing that context makes this song even more emotional when he lets it out at the end because "i hope you're happy" has a dual meaning of genuine or sarcastic, and he's said in interviews that from night to night of the tour, it meant one or the other.
Art is dead. All Eyes on me. How the world works. From Gods prespective. Im Bo Yo. We think we know you. Bo Burnham will surprise you with his creative genius.
This was only the second Bo performance I watched, and it took me completely off guard - I cried at the end, I did not expect that at all. After this I was hooked, and had to look up everything he'd done. He's raw, honest, funny, talented and highly intelligent - everything that makes a great artist. Keep on watching. Try "How the world works" next, it's definitely one of his greatest work ever.

After this he walked off stage, had a panic attack and left live comedy shows for 5 years to work on himself. He starts it off as funny then it takes a serious turn and his last scream, you can hear real pain from him. I always felt like this was his way of saying goodbye to fix himself, he was being honest, he couldn't handle it anymore.
The two first screams at the end were planned and part of the show. The third scream wasn't a part of the show. His producer confirmed this. It was a panic attack. He talks about it in "Inside".
I just found your channel. Loving the videos man. You are a super cool guy and I hope your channel takes off like crazy. Praying for your success. Can't wait to see more!
He had a mental breakdown after this performance. He quit for 5 years. He kept having them on stage. The whole Chipotle thing was a metaphor to his life. He wouldn't of done all the stuff he is doing if if he knew it wouldn't fit.
Facts, I've only seen one reacter make that correlation and when they did it made the depth of this bit hit so much harder. It really makes the overall theme tie together about things not fitting (pringles and burritos) and not being able to handle them properly.
@@byebyebirdie_ funny thing about the subconscious is that we do\say things we don’t mean or want to. Subconscious is strong and WILL act on your behalf if you yourself don’t consciously do it :) just some food for thought
The whole song is a metaphor for him trying to find happiness.. he also was having serious panic attacks throughout this song and quit making content for like 5 years after he released this Netflix special
It was a Dave Chappelle moment, but Bo broadcast his on a live stage in his amazing artistic form. This is the best reaction I've seen of this video though bro. I know when you said you want to keep followers, you were questioning how much of yourself you were willing to show, so you did what Bo did and you finished the show. 🤜. I needed to see this today 😊
It's interesting because the whole structure of the beginning of the joke -the song, is mocking Kanye West for these unhinged rants he started having at the end of his shows, which today we now know that Kanye West, regardless as to how you feel about him or what he's said in public recently, was experiencing a massive mental decline. But then at the end of the song he's Empathizing with Kanye, and the kind of feelings all performers have that can warp them in an unhealthy way. Bo says the quiet thing out loud. A lot of people and especially youtubers who clickbait this reaction as like "Bo trolls Kanye", espcially with the topical nature of Kanye's mental health over the past year from a political perspective. So it was refreshing to see you approach and react to this at face value and focus more on the meaning than a lot of the other content creators do.

Since you mentioned that you wanted him to go back to the pringles thing “I don’t think that I CAN HANDle this right now” he did and this sneaky devilish genius snuck it past people.
Careful what you wish for, you might end up with more toppings than will fit into your burrito. Your burrito might become so messy you CAN't HANDle it. Peace/JT
i LOVE the layers to this song. bo burnham acknowledges that he’s a white man and cannot fathom understanding the complexities that a black man in this country faces so instead he shows that his “problems” are simple things like pringles cans and chipotle burritos; he simultaneously pokes fun at kanye for being surface level (complaining about his 90$ tshirts not selling properly) at times, not understanding how lucky he is to be where he’s at financially, comparatively to the rest of the world, in life similarly to bo being in privilege because his worries are minuscule compared to kanye’s
You are very good at this reaction thing. By that I mean that you get it. You know when it's funny and you mirror it and enjoy it. You quickly pick up on when things get serious and the vibe changes. Idk. I'm sayin you just get it that's all.
I believe the entire bit is about his relation to fame. The back half is obvious in that he sacrifices himself for the audience, but if you try to tie it all together I think he believes that like the pringles can he thought fame would bring him what was missing but he can't reach it still. With the chipotle same idea.... fame brought all of these aspects that he didn't foresee and don't fit with his idea of true happiness. And now he's stuck. Stuck with this tremendous burden of fame that he really thought would make him happy but he finds himself stuck in a terrible trap of his own doing.
I always cry during this performance. Watching him just... lose it.
I've never felt more seen than by Bo's honesty when he chooses to let it out. He's incredible and watching his evolution has been spectacular.
