This was one of the first "hood movies" I had watch growing up and it left a huge impact on me. I was never a bad kid, but this film still drilled into my head the consequences of making bad decisions in life.

Ilena was lying about being pregnant. She was upset caine didn't call her back. One of the directors stated that. So caine got killed over nothing..

That sounds like a cop out. Like, Caine can’t have another women pregnant because it means he can’t be with Ronnie. Or it means he actually did wrong. We can’t have that. Even though Odog kills for no reason, Caine is killed for no reason

I'm from LA. I grew up in Watts in the Nickerson Gardens housing projects. I had family who lived in Imperial Courts, those same projects where Kane lived with his grandparents. I was in my early 20 when this movie came out. I can honestly say this movie paints a very accurate picture of life in the hood in LA at that time. Gangs and violence. The struggle was real. Excellent review!

I loved this movie since I was around 7 years old . My dad had alot of hood movies growing up . Most of them taught me how to move in the streets and around "friends" , have emotional intelligence and stay strapped as a young black man. No where is safe and life is all about choices . I'm now 32 and give my son the game after surviving many street beefs and gang violence. Thicker than Water is also another great hood movie with MC 8, Fat Joe and Mack 10 .. This movie made me fall in love with the 5.0 mustang. There are also deleted scenes with Caine and Shariff at Harold's funeral

The sub title sat the tone for the culture relatable commentary and reactions. Although the characters were influenced by their surroundings we still wanted them to have longevity. Therefore they may influence others into a better path. The soundtrack for this movie was on another level. That computer love scene and the R.kelly and public announcement scene 🔥. This is one of the reviews that i have been waiting for. Thank you so much. You have now reviewed the Mount Rushmore of hood classics, this New Jack City, Boyz N Da Hood & Juice. Each movie taught us life lessons, launched a lot of careers, still talked about 30 years after their debut & people have named themselves after these characters. If i could change an ending to a movie it would be this one. Caine, Ronnie, Stacy & Sharif would have made it out of the hood. Fun Facts: Prior to Menace II Society, Tyrin Turner appeared in Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation video, In Living Color, Deep Cover, Michael Jordan’s Come Fly With Me video & Hangin With Mr. Cooper. He auditioned for the role of Trey in Boyz N Da Hood. His grandparents were in The Five Heartbeats as well. His grandmother The late Marilyn Coleman played Eddie Kane’s mother. She also played Mrs. Bookman on Good Times. She was also in Which Way Is Up & Meteor Man. His grandfather played by The late Arnold Johnson was Duck & JT’s dad. He was also in Shaft, Sanford & Son, Good Times, The Jeffersons, A Hero Ain’t Nothing But A Sandwich, Family Matters & many other things. Also prior to Menace II Society. Larenz Tate appeared on Matlock, Amen, The Wonder Years, The Women of Brewster Place, Family Matters, The Royal Family & The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

I sympathize more with the innocent bystanders who become victims. And I lose concern for the perpetrators only wishing that they'd disappear because some people, regardless of what they look like, are just truly menaces beyond repair and like bringing harm.

Please do the Selena movie because the movie also helped immortalize Selena’s legacy following her untimely death, becoming a cultural marker for Mexican Americans and other Latinos who saw their own bicultural family experiences reflected in her life story.

FYI: Albert Hughes went to Solo direct a movie called ALPHA. it's a prehistoric film about a boy surviving with the first dog to get domesticated. It's a really great movie

Since you encourage the comments, I'm here Lol. So, this is one of my FAVORITE movies and I loved your review and commentary on it. I'm a new subbie, the first one I watched was your review of Eve's Bayou, another favorite of mine.
So, I wanted to know if you have reviewed Baby Boy 🤔 I was never a fan of Baby Boy and I have my reasons. I want to hear your thoughts. You're always so honest and entertaining at the same time. You also notice/analyze things I may not have caught. Baby Boy was so toxic it's ridiculous 😂 it came out when I was in high school and I remember everybody loved it for some reason. All these years later, I'm wondering if that had ANY influence on my generation's relationships...
Love your channel, thanks so much for the content! ❤️❤️❤️

I always thought the directors set a timer for every 10-15 minutes to shoot someone.
Yo... I forgot about that old song with tupac and spice 1 "I'm losing it". I use to know that whole spice 1 verse... I probably still do. Bout to look it up on you tube right now haha!

I never paid attention until now how the corner store scene was a dream sequence by african americans regarding the death of Latasha Harlins In consideration of the fact that she was killed leaving the drug store. The man made a comment while o dog was leaving the store that triggered the store owners death.

Menace To Society: This movie is the raw belly of the concrete jungles, unfortunately, Caine was a tragic soul. After studying archetypes for character personalities, Caine is a tragedy. When it came to O-Dog’s shooting in the liquor store, somethin’ was gonna give.

This movie scared me pretty bad as a young teenager.
And even though I went to a lot of crazy parties, there were a couple of times where I got that vibe like the card game or the house party.
I always trust my gut when I feel a M2S moment and GTFO.
