The Supra was modeled to compete with the regular caymans, not the GT series cars. You might notice a difference in price between the two cars as well.
It depends how you look at it. I’m a huge fan of Porsches especially their GT cars and I own a MKV Supra with the Manual. Upgrade? Yeah it certainly aspects. The GT4 will most likely hold its value or even appreciate. Slim chance the MKV Supra does. If you’re into modifying, the aftermarket support for the Supra is greater so in that regard the GT4 isn’t necessarily an upgrade. Price, they aren’t even in the same league. Reliability, that’s debatable. Value, I think the Supra is hard to beat for the cost/performance ratio, can’t really argue the same for the GT4. Both great cars. I’d love one of each haha
Supra is only worth it if you mod it if you wanna go fast in a straight line. A modded GT4 will still be plenty quick in a straight line and will destroy a Supra around corners. Not to mention a GT4 sounds way better than a turbocharged MKV.
Well said. Comments section sometimes crack me up because of how heated some people get comparing a GT4 to the Supra. If I was to upgrade from the Supra to let's say a GT3RS as it's my dream car, you sure as hell will know that I will compare them. Decent amount of Supra owners I've spoken to has their eyes on a Porsche GT car as the next one, so this video is targeted mainly to that demographic. Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@Unicornpirate A modded mkv supra can still be fast around corners and on a the straight line. I mean look at Jackie Ding's mk5 supra. It's consistently keeping up with modded Porsches around the track easily. There's also plenty of other Supra track builds that are successful too. A GT4 will cost a crap ton more to mod than a mkv especially when you start adding forced induction which is not reliable on that platform (you're not making that much more power naturally aspirated) , not even including the fact the car themselves cost double retail. I do agree that GT4 sounds better than MKV and I will take a GT4 over a Supra anyday if they were around the same price.
@@kaeru5019 That's the driver. Ding is a pro. Put him in a GT4 and he will put down faster lap times. And no on these GT engines NA bolt ons make decent power. Go look at the power packages from Dundon Motorsports and others. Yes it costs more to mod a GT4 but it's already two steps above the Mkv Supra. Plus it's mid engine which is superior to FR around a track
Congratulations. A GT4 is a huge upgrade from a MKV Supra and worth it all the way. GT4 buyers don't even consider cross buying a MKV Supra for what its worth.
@@Mantenner That's subjective. The Supra has fake vents which is a turn off for many. And that idea of the 911 being the only good Porsche to get is out the window. They put their best engine in the GT4RS.
My close friend has a 2012 911. I have driven it several times. The driving experience is completely different than the Supra. I give props to the design and gearing of Porsche. His car pulls up top in the higher rpm range.
Great video Vince! I’ve been waiting for a comparison like this! I went from a A91 Supra MT to a ZL1 6 spd and now considering a 6spd 718 Spyder (gt4 vert). The one I’m considering also has a soul performance exhaust, sounds amazing . It’s a weird mixture of cars but loved the Supra, got a great offer on the a91 mt and got into the ZL1, never experienced American muscle before. Thanks for watching Armin! How do you compare going from the Supra to the ZL1? I drove an SS a while back and it just seemed so big. I think if you really liked the Supra experience, this would be the next step up. Had an amazing time driving Kelvin's GT4!
I mean going from the Supra to a GT4, a comparison was going to happen since they occupy the sports car slot in Kelvin's ownership. Whether or not they are in the same ballpark.
@@VinceChristmastree my 2024 3 pedal Golf R is my grocery getter... I plan on getting a GT4 or GT3 Touring manual as my weekend fun car... the 100 mph in 2nd is crazy... I'd wanna tune for sure to shorten the gear ratios.
Nicely done. Definitely an upgrade in some respect. High revving and hardcore. Supra and GTS comparison may be better. Love the old Supra’s. New one is okay, but I picked the F87 instead.
Would it be possible to share the exact exhaust setup on this car? Probably the best sounding 4.0 I’ve heard so would love to know. Soul sells multiple exhaust systems for these cars. Stunning car and great video.
The one thing the GT4 looks silly with is the rear wing. Looks like something installed after being purchased on temu. 991.2 GT3 did the rear wing properly. That’s the Porsche GT vehicle with zero aesthetic faults.
As someone who owns a GT4 I think it really depends. Everyone loves a naturally aspirated flat six but where I live at 5500 ft. elevation my car takes a ~15% power loss, and if you plan on tracking your car competitively a turbocharged car like the Supra not only negates the elevation, but is undoubtedly cheaper to maintain, modify & upgrade with aftermarket parts, and with some mods the Supra would definitely eclipse the GT4 performance wise. That being said the GT4 is the more special car and it's a really confidence inspiring vehicle for those who just want to have spirited drives on the road or want to push the limits on the track without a large learning curve at any skill level.
I drove the Supra and BMW Z4 M40i before buying my Porsche, and there's no comparison when it comes to handling. Straightline acceleration alone is not performance.
The Supra was modeled to compete with the regular caymans, not the GT series cars.

GRMN Supra might be the one to compete with 718 Cayman GT4
Good point. I'll have to do a side-by-side video with the Cayman and the Supra in the future.

What section of the exhaust is done? Is it soul OAP or the rear section as well? Silenced or non silenced? Sounds wicked
It's the rear section as well and I believe it's non-silenced. Yeah it sounds absolutely insane.

Hoping to get Ryan's and Kelvin's in one video. Maybe have a regular Cayman manual as well.

This particular one was a little less than MSRP. I couldn't remember the exact cost, but you could possibly reach out to the owner on IG (@k.guo.90).

Should fit the automotive passion wing and other parts i fitted there gt4rs wing on mine it’s unreal
