- Hello my loves! The long awaited print tutorial is FINALLY here, yay!! It should help give you guys a good starting point and guidance if you're curious about learning how to make your own prints. It's definitely a more simplified & easily digestible version of the actual entire printmaking process, which has a lot more nuanced skills and difficulties, but hopefully this tutorial can give you guys a good high level look. Enjoy! :)

this is just great info. Making prints is neither fast nor easy.... but knowing how to do it right makes it a tad better anyways!! love your art and your thoughts and your videos!!
You are a work of art. Your well articulated, unpretentious and easy-going presentation style is nothing to worry about. I'm a sculptor, but your 2D art is stunningly rich.
Because of watching your videos I can learn about becoming a full-time artist, Thank You.
The ink tank system appears to be much better than the cartridge system th-cam.com/users/postUgkxciSwynMJ7PnUvvx11rewiu-yFBkZTl53 and a lot cheaper to run. The machine was easy to set up. A small point but I thought they'd be a USB cable included to help with the set up but there was none. I've been using it now for a few weeks and it seems like a good product and superior to my previous printers which were all troublesome HP machines.
Oh my god I didn’t realize how expensive this was gonna be
And i cried blood knowing this... My wallet too.
Me too
U can use Office Depot to create ur prints until ur able to invest in a home printing station.
The Canon pro 100 runs around $300 and the printer quality is virtually the same as the PRO 10 and PRO-1000.
Invest to make money lol
This was all so informative and helpful! I've been wanting to sell prints of my artwork for a good while now and this video will definitely help me towards that goal. Thank you! Also, if you ever get a chance, do a video where you discuss how you package and ship your prints. In the past, I've used tubes, where I carefully roll up the prints and slide them into, as well as cover them with protective paper and then sandwiched them between stiff, flat cardboard and then slide into a large flat box or mailer. I'm still not sure which method is best. They both have there pros and cons.
Your prints are STUNNING! I print @240 dpi because I can’t see a difference between 240 and 300 (I have an old Epson 2200). I would recommend your viewers test dpi and find the point of diminishing returns for their printer if file size is a concern. Congrats on the Pro 1000! That’s on my wishlist.
your art is amazing!! Also thanks so much for the tips.
That portrait of that mermaid really caught my eye it's so beautiful. It is one of my favorites.
Thanks to be so transparent with the people that follow you. I appreciate this so much. I love your work is very creative and beautiful.
Many thanks for the helpful video. I have purchased a fancy printer by EPSON two months ago, since it was the best I could get in my country. It has 6 pigment-based inks and I was so grateful for that (standard was 4 up until now), now I see it probably still isn't enough :D
And honestly, I don't think you are not good enough at explaining yourself or editing videos, I understood the point of every video and it gave me a lot. I often don't watch, just listen to you while I draw (the painting style is very different than my watercolors) and I am grateful for this content. ♥
I just looked at your website and I was captivated by each world I peered into through the window of your art. This is unusual for me, as I tend to only like realism. You're amazing.
This was so helpful, I had no idea about the dpi. Some of my prints were only at 72....ugh! I have the same printer and upped my dpi for my prints to 600, can't wait to try it. Thank you.
I want to thank you for the taking the time to make this. There is no way I'll be able to justify spending that much on a printer right now but I'll save this video for later. Thanks!
Thank you so much for sharing this. I just got into collaging art and I have so many requests for prints. Looking at the price is so scary, but hopefully what Im doing will lead to something bigger! thank you so much for sharing!
I have been researching printers for a while now! I have narrowed it down to only a couple now. Thank you for your insights into both of them and the pros & cons, I really appreciate it.
Literally perfect timing!! 😂😂 I had an art event last night and was JUST looking into making prints myself!
Thank you for your detailed walkthrough and description of what you need and the process itself. This was very informative. I am an artist who is doing self prints, but knew nothing about printers that are intended for artists. Thank you sooo much
Yay!!! Thank you so much for uploading this Happy! I really love watching your videos and I'm really enjoying the studio sessions. This was definitely something that I've been waiting to see, as a young artist myself and very very new to the idea of having a career as an artist this was a big help. And your tutorials are fantastic, very informative and easy to follow :)
This was very helpful. I'm researching how to sell prints, and I plan to have them done professionally before making the leap and buying an expensive printer to do it at home. It was especially useful to see how to get large prints from small paintings. I was very surprised to see how small your actual paintings were.
Why were you dislike this video? It's really great information for artists who have a booth at the artist alley at a comic convention. Great information keep up the great work I picked up some great tips on this video. Thank for sharing your great tips a lot of artists are really anal to share.
I saw a bigger one for $1500 but I’m glad to see the new one you have is cheaper and I’m just starting out so I don’t need a really advanced one
Your prints actually look really high quality! I don’t have a good enough printer but hopefully later on if people ever want to buy prints of my art I can get one.
Thank you for shedding some light on this because lately I’ve been wondering how I can make my art prints and how to start
This video was very well done. It explained exactly what I was hoping for and it was incredibly valuable. Thank you.
I love how informative and detailed this video is. Thank you so much 💛
Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge and expertise on this subject. You are so generous. Although I am still learning about drawing and painting, one day I plan to need all your information so I can make my own prints. Thanks for an awesome video!
I can’t wait to be able to buy the canon pro 1000 printer! I’m so excited to make my own prints!
Great video as usual! I'm just starting out on selling my own prints and watching videos like yours help a ton. Thank you!
This was very well thought out and thorough in the explanations, as well as very considerate with the information and reason for her decisions. Thank you for this video.
It's wonderful you are taking your time to share your personal experience between the two products! I just got a Canon Pro-10 to start selling my own art prints. We'll see how it goes this year, maybe I'll go up a model since I use a lot of blues as well.
Yes! So long awaited. lol Thank you so much for sharing your process of creating prints. It's something I've always been curious about and want to do myself, so this video is just the best!
Thanks Happy D! You are so wonderful and have helped me become a more motivated and disciplined artist. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with the world although you think it does come off as not good at explaining yourself, you actually explain it in a more digestible and usable way than regular tutorials. You are endlessly inspiring and I appreciate you :)
Thanks so much for this video, so informative and helpful. I had no idea where to start doing art prints, now I feel way more confident about it! I am going to become an independent artist now thanks to you ☺️😌
Thx for sharing, great info, wish you all the best in your endeavours.
I'm glad that I've watched this video. Answered a few questions I had. I'm going to give the Canon luster paper a try for my Canon pro 100 which does up to 13x19" prints. I notice Vista Print does canvas prints and prints on phone cases so I might give them a try. Thanks again for sharing this video. It was very helpful :)
This is just what I’ve been trying to find!! I’m a digital artist who creates manipulations in Photoshop and would love to print them out to make a large print book. I didn’t know how to print my stuff.
wow your prints are nice . thank you for the information to learn how to be artists ourselves . and create and have a steady income stream in alignment with doing what we love. so we can thrive. thank you
Thank you for making this video. So much useful info. Love your work, and you are an absolute angel.
Awesome video! Thank you for all the personal knowledge & info you share! Very appreciated!!!
Awesome! And just beautiful (you and your art). Thanks for sharing.
Brilliant tutorial. I see so many amateur artists getting this wrong and selling low quality prints made without archival inks. I don't think they have any comprehension of how quickly they can fade and the damage you can do to your reputation. Do it properly, as instructed in this video, or pay someone to do it for you.
I think you explained this really well! I'm on board with more future tutorials from you.
Oh this is great! I've been wondering how this works. Thanks for the helpful video! Hopefully I can make prints now.😊😁
This was extremely helpful for me. Thank you so much 😊 I know how to use photoshop and a printer cause I went to a photography school for a year and a half, but I had been wondering how I would use that knowledge to make art prints.
Thank you so much for this video! I’m thinking of making prints of my artwork myself, so this was very helpful💖
Thank you for the tips! Excellent art!!
Thank you for your video. Learned a lot. Thanks for sharing. You make awesome prints i loved the larger sizes.
Yay! Finally! I’ve been waiting for this video! 😚😁
Thanks for the great, detailed info that's helping me decide to outsource rather than do it myself.
I'LL GO BROKE after printing 5 art pieces haha. thank you for the insight though. gonnna save money for this!
Love you so much I'm finally learning to push myself with my art. And it would be so good if you did more tutorials about your actual creation process. Love making art and watching you videos. Hope all is well xoxoxo
GREAT VIDEO. Man. I thought my printer was expensive(Epson Artisan 1430)! How many prints do you think you get from one set of ink?
Girl*
@@THEUnIQuEStaTioN You're not very smart are you
Becca Gonzalez I have a epson workforce 2850 I think and it’s super expensive when it comes to ink but everyone told me it was good on ink...I recommend it if you don’t mind the black ink running out if you use it.. it was only like $60 at walmart! And it’s wireless so you don’t need a dvd and you can use your phone (sorry I’m late too)
I know this is a late comment, but how often do you find yourself selling large size prints? I’m curious for how worth the larger format printer is
Thank you so much for this tutorial. It is clear and sincere. This will help me a Lot.
Wow you are the best great info I searched like crazy with others and they weren't as clear as you are so thank you! Fate works perfectly this video was meant ☺️
I'm so happy you made this video! Thank you so much ❤️❤️
Thank you so much HappyD for this video. I love your artwork🍄
Thanks for taking the time to make this video! Right now I print my prints at a printer lab that professional photographers use. I've found that this works best for me since I am not in high demand yet and don't have the money to invest in a fine art printer. The prints I order always turn out beautifully and high quality (and they usually arrive the next day!) so if someone here can't afford a fine art printer, check out millerslab.com. There are also many other professional printer labs out there too! 💜
Beautiful art! I’m having issues with my printer matching what’s on my screen. I have a new canon Prograf 300. Do you have any tips?
You're lovely! Thank you for this, I'm about to start making my work into prints and I've been researching the tools I'm gonna need for the process! Great art! ❤
Thanks for the advice and tutorial Happy! Very helpful!! 🖤🖤
Omg your prints are so cute and amazing I want them all
Such a great vid! Thanks for being so helpful and listing everything out too
Thank you so much for your great advice! ❤️
i CAME HERE TO LEARN AND ENDED UP GAWKING AT THE ART . OMG YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES GIRL YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEES
....fabulous work...what a pro you are.
Can i use a normal printer and but a pack of poster paper and put it in the printer to print out my posters?😊
You are awesome and so are your prints! Thanks for sharing!
Super helpful, thanks! Keep making awesome videos❤️❤️
Wooo hooooo thank you for the video, Happy!
Hi Happy D. This was a great informative video on the how to and quality equipment recommendations. You covered the upfront cost of the equipment, the paper and the ink replacement, but have you calculated your cost per print? This is the price that I feel would be most helpful to know for anyone deciding between using a commercial print shop or printing at home. What size do you print most frequently, how many prints of that size can you make before you need to replace the ink and, using only the ink and paper cost what is the price per print for that size? Then what is the difference in price printing on glossy vs matte, as the glossy is likely to use less ink?
Thank you for sharing your art experience with us all!
Thanks so much for making this video it was so helpful ❤️
Forgot to ask.. do you make your own stickers as well? With these materials? Thanks! Looking forward to the next video!
A very informative video, great tutorial. Also, love your artwork - looks beautiful.
Is the artwork you paint and turn into prints on stretched canvases? If so, are you left with texture appearances from the painting on your print?
How do you properly take a picture of your artwork with the dslr and make prints?
i think it is being scanned
Hoping to produce my own someday and this is really inspiring😊
How do you decide how much to price your prints, especially for someone that is just starting out? And do you ever sell the original and how do you price for that? Thanks!
I was wondering about this!
Thank you Happy. We appreciate this video. I love you so much.
This actually helps a lot and is very interesting❤️👌THANKS!
Thank you SO much for this video. I was thinking about making prints myself or not for a while now, and just wasn't sure about the equipment. I already have a great scanner (The predecessor of the one you have, bts. Epson perfection V370, about half the price but pretty much the same functions. Barely any editing needed after scanning my Copic and Aquarell paintings), and now I know wich printer I should get (I think it will be the Pro 10, I'm more into the smaller stuff anyway). However, until I can afford that (I'm german, so I just can't spend my money on the spot, I need to save up at least 3 times the amount of the sum I want to spend), I know of some good copy shops and online print sites.
That first print was fucking insane, nice colour work
OMG YAY been waiting for this
dear Happy, how do you calibrate the colors of your print to match the colors you see on your monitor? Do you mess with the printer and monitor color profiles (Im very confused over this)? or do you just print many test prints and adjust the levels/colors on photoshop with every test print?
My art isn't to good but I started my art channel recently I hope one day I can be like you 😊😊 I still need alot of work😂
Hi, do expensive printer really matter? Can i use cheap printer? For glossy?
In my experience, The print will be smudge by the printer. Because of the wheel thingy inside the printer. Never had a expensive one though so im not really sure. Sorry for the bad grammar
Lovely artwork!
is it more efficient to use a all-in-one printer??or a seperate scanner and printer??
This video is so helpful, thank you!
0:01 What paper did you used,it looks amazing.
Thank you for sharing this useful information!
This is a super helpful video! One day I want to sell my artwork (for now I'm still learning, studying, and developing my style), so I'll definitely keep this video in mind as I grow as an artist. :)
I especially love that you compared the differences between matte and glossy paper, and showed which kinds are better for prints of different mediums. I prefer using watercolors, pencils, and pencil crayons for my traditional illustrations, so it's great that you pointed out that matte paper is good for that. :D
As a general question (to the community), would matte paper or glossy paper be better for digital art prints? I enjoy doing digital art just as much as traditional, and even though I don't sell my art, sometimes I like to print out my digital art so that I can display it in my home, so which kind of paper would be best for that?
Rebekah Bechervaise I think Glossy paper is beautiful for digital work as digital is quite vibrant and rich 💓
Thanks for letting me know! :D
That's a huge investment! I imagine it'd be worth it so you can reproduce prints on an as needed basis & save time, money & space without purchasing prints in bulk. I wonder how many standard sized prints you can get before you have to change ink?
I came across your video purely by chance and having watched it all I am somewhat overawed by your expertise.
I was wondering if you still have the Canon Pro 1000?
I have an old Canon Pro 9000 which I have just fitted with a CISS to save on cartridge costs.
Essentially I am a photographer thinking I really should try to sell some of my pics (Sunsets, birds).
I might have to think about upgrading to a newer printer though.
Very informative video! Love your work! You are amazing ❤️🙂
Thanks for the details about the printers and paper. What do you do with all your proofs once you've decided on a print?
Any advice for removing the watercolour paper texture from the scan? I don’t have photoshop 😀
Thanks for sharing what you've learned... Definitely helped
