Great video! My biggest problem often is that when I convert from RGB to CMYK, it fades some colors out as CMYK can't process overly bright RGB colors. To counter this, I usually go to Image -> Adjustments -> Replace Color. Then I tweak the colors until I'm satisfied with it.
@@superclaireify Hey Claire, I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but I did try it on a Fill Layer and it didn't work unfortunately. I'm sorry if I misunderstood the question :)
It usually does, my professor told me that if you are planning to print or doing this professionally for printing purposes, you should always use CMYK when painting. But her way probably just works for her! Some colors can get changed and also not be as accurate when you convert from RGB to CMYK.
you can always ask your local printer if they have a printer that allows rgb, mine has one and the colors were pretty accurate, but it also comes out really nice when you convert it to cmyc, it looks different on the digital canvas but once you have the print youll see the similitude to the digital rgb one
Thank you for making this video. I opened an Etsy shop and I wanted to add new products. I’ve never made prints and I just got into digital art. This is a very informative video. I’m really excited to try something new and to start selling prints for others to enjoy.

Thank you for sharing about your thoughts on the Staples vs Canon paper! I have two full packs of the Canon paper (13x9) so I’ll use them for now, but I’m happy to know the Staples paper is a bit thicker.
Have a few questions: - Do you cut the paper after printing? Or send it as is? - How do you handle margins in your printfile? Do you add them for framing purposes, if so, how? - Why do you pick that specific color profile in the printer to print with? - how do you package larger prints to prevent damage?
Hi :) well to your questions it all depends on what you want to achieve, and it's case by case, same as margins. I do use a paper cutter and sometimes a scissors, the color profile I use is the one in the video, and the larger prints, yes I have to pack them carefully to prevent damage in a tube :)
Hi Asia! It was really helpful! Can I ask you what is the capacity of your PC, if PS runs fluidly on it? I’m currently planning to buy a new PC for this kinda work and not sure about the affordability vs capacity fight. 😄 thank you! ❤️
I am very glad with this video, I've been searching for an affordable printer with which I could print A3 format with. Hi Asia, Thank you so much! I've been printing directly from Illustrator and the colors are always a bit off. I'll try importing then printing from photoshop.
Thank you a lot Danii! I was asked about it many times and I hope this video will be a source of all the helpful information. But for sure many more questions will arise😉💚
Hi Asia, your videos are excellent and filled with very useful information. I just watched the video on “Preparing Your Digital Artwork for Print” and was curious why you go through Photoshop to print instead of going directly from Procreate which I noticed you said was you favorite APP.? If you have printed directly from Procreate what were the problems that resulted in you going through Photoshop fore printing? I appreciate what I have heard from you so far and look forward to you response. Thanks in advance for your help. Best regards, Tom Williams
Hi Thomas, you can definitely print from Procreate and I did with no issues. I use Photoshop to adapt my work to different paper sizes as I illustrate in big format but sometimes print in A5. It’s just comes down to personal preference, and how I’m use to work. it’s totally subjective :) but I had no issues either way
Hi !! 👋 I was wondering why you don't work on a CMYK mode on Procreate instead of RGB and convert after on photoshop. Is there reason for that? Thank you very much in advance for your response ! Best regards
I think it’s the best quality PSD format in Adobe 1998 RGB or P3 color space. P3 is recommended for newest Mac user, and CMYK is for oldest printer or for press. Your printer use 8 color not only 4 . When you use photoshop and paper & printer combination you will get usually good or very good results. P.S. I recommend calibration for both your monitor (iPad and Mac book) in same color space (P3)
If you are planning on printing your work isn’t it better to set up the canvas as CMYK before you start painting? I did a whole painting and took it to print and it ruined the colours because I painted it in RGB!
Hi Jio, it might be. For me like I said in the video if something required it, I would go straight to CMYK for printing. But sometimes I will print something that I was not originally thought for print. I never experienced mayor color changes :) I think is more of a personal choice and demand of each job 🤗
Hi thanks for this video! I have a question if you don’t mind. If we want to make the artwork both to be posted on the internet AND printed, what color mode should we choose when we initially create the artwork?
The color mode for print is always recommended to be CMYK, that also works for web, colors might be a tiny bit dull, but most will barely notice. RGB for everything digital
I tried this and my dpi was to low for print so i have no clue how your able to print without having this same issue. I also do digital art but I set all my art in 600 resolution. still thumbs up we just do differently
300dpi is recommended for printing, but your resolution also needs to be high enough to take advantage of the 300dpi. idk if i understood your comment, but drawing at 600pixels(resolution) is definitely too small to print without seeing pixels when printing imo. i usually draw at over 2000 or more
I spent weeks working on an illustration in Procreate, the resolution is fine and it’s in cmyk but when I printed it the colors were dark and I don’t know how to remedy this. I’ve been an artist for most of my life and this format is the one that I feel most like giving up on. It’s nearly impossible to get a good result. Can anyone offer any real advice?
I heard that procreate doesn’t have a true CMYK color representation, as its whole engine is based on RGB. so don’t worry, it’s not about you or your skill as an artist, it’s the technical limitation of Procreate itself
Hi! New subscriber to your channel, thank you so much for such an informative and generous video. Hello, illustrator and former print company employee here! You can't print colours in CMYK to match RGB colours you see on screen, it's not possible for CMYK printing to make those colours unfortunately. If you are creating something for print, it's always advised to create your document as CMYK and start there instead of converting it to CMYK later, this will avoid any disappointment when you come to print. Hi Asia, thank you for your video. I was going to ask, which Ipad and pen do you use, I'm struggling to find the right tablet that is powerful enough for Photoshop and illustrator? Thank you in advance.
This is such a stupid question. What did you do to make the SSD T5 work with your ipad? I have an SSD T7 and only recently thought of using it as a back up, but when I plug it in I can only see the T7_setup including 4 files. The format is in exFAT which should work, but i cant do anything with it? Love the knowledge you shared! Im trying it out with a commissioned piece of mine. I appreciate it
I’m also wondering how you went from a full canvas with no margin to a stunning print with a lovely white margin around the edge. Is this something you set up via your printer I wonder? Another great video. I love your art and especially your colour palette choices … so calming!
She might have a different answer for you but this is what I found out. When you do prints that fit the size of the whole page the printer/paper settings automatically do it for you (her's was 1 A3 print for example). Even when I print out bookmarks and stickers I noticed that it will alter or shrink the image size a bit to fit on the page and leave a border. That's why I like using Canva so I can utilize the ruler and page alignment feature. There might be more to it but this is what I have learned when printing out art.
I haven't quite figured out how it would work when you try to put 2-4 small prints (4×7 prints) on one page and still be able to see the nice border Hopefully I'll figure that out soon😅
@shinicejones1817 I'm currently using Canva and am trying figure out the best way to print to have clear pic. Have you printed larger pieces on Canva? If so, how did that work for you?
I don't know much about printing but I do digital art, mostly portraits and character designs, which color profile is suitable for that? Because I want to print my artworks and sell them ^_^
Hi Asia! Thanks for this video. It relieves me to see that because the Canon PIXMA iX6850 is much more affordable than e.g. the Canon PIXMA Pro. I was looking for an artist making a video about a “cheaper” printer, to see if it would be worth it. I might consider it then! :)
Is there a way to do this with other softwares? I use Adobe Fresco for most of my artwork, but am unsure how to print to a canvas. Should I just bite the bullet and get Procreate, or will the prints come out just as good? For the particular project I’m working on, I need to print it on a large canvas, probably around 5 by 7 foot, so I’ll need to get it printed somewhere else. Any recommendations as to where I can order it?
Hello, Could you please let me know why you set your canvas in procreate to RGB but then use CMYK in photoshop? I tried to draw in CMYK on procreate but all the colours are muted. Thank you :)
CMYK is used primarily for printing as printing doesn't give you the colour quality that RGB gives you. So you can start your work in RGB but you should always convert it to CMYK before printing :)
Hi! So glad I found your video, I have the same printer. When I print from Illustrator I am getting faint horizontal streaks on my colors. My ink levels are not low. Would this be a problem with my printer or illustrator file/settings. I'm new to this, so I apologize if it is a simple solution.
Hey Asia! Love the videos you've been making. I also really adore the jewelry you make. I was wondering if the jewelry comes in compostable packaging while shipping?
Thank you for sharing your process!! I love seeing this because I feel it’s something that is widely shared at least for art prints so I really appreciate you taking the time to share. Couple of questions: How do you print multi prints to one page? I’m still trying to figure that part out. Can you share how you set up your procreate canvas? Like is it always using pixels? I couldn’t figure that part out, for example for a 11x14 what’s the size of the canvas in pixels? Thank you again!!
Hi Leanne thank you so much :) I always show in all the videos my procreate settings, and don’t go by pixel count but real life dimensions and the DPI. If you go by pixel there’s a lot that can go wrong 😑
Thank you, Asia , It is a very useful video. I am a big fan of your art :) I have a small doubt regarding the color profile. Can we choose CMYK color profile from procreate instead of using photoshop.. Thanks Again . ❤️ Sujata
Asia Orlando pls answer me🙏🙏 I want to print my illustration into an A5 size. So i change the canvas into A5 size. But the problem is, why my lines became pixelated? How to fix it?
Thank you for the video Asia! I was researching printers for at home printing - I have an Epson workforce pro which prints really high resolution and b/w comes out perfect, whilst when printing large areas of flat color the dots are pretty visible looking close. I thought those are because it just has cmyk ink (compared for example to pro100), it looks like Pixma is the same, do you experience that as well a little? Not sure if there’s some trick around it, I also tried a bunch of different paper (best result with Epson Archive Matte). Thank you in advance and I hope you see this comment 🖤
Hello! Thank you for this fab video. Just wondering about working on an A3 canvas on procreate, does it not limit the number of layers significantly? I think I only have like 4…. If you then print in A4/A5 do you lose quality scaling down or is that just when you scale up ? Thank you 😊 xx
It depends on your iPad configuration actually and this is something you can’t fix,you just have to manage. Either you can do 1 artwork in different files, export ,then combine them one by one or you can just go for merged layers
@@AsiaOrlando Hello :) I meant being able to print 4 images into 4 equal squares on a 8.5x11 sheet. or 2 images onto one paper. I can't find any support or instruction on that. I saw in your thumbnail that you were able to put 4 different images into 4 even squares.
HI Asia, great tutorial video and very helpful. Thank you. I have a question about printing margins. I could see in the digital image you sent for print that there were no margins, but the physical print had margins and another print had 4 images (quarters) and white margins breaking up the 4 images and white margins at each edge. Did you add these in the the digital images before sending for print or are these margins added in some configuration setting in photoshop?
hi i create a drawing in photoshop and when trying to print in the photoshop setting> ix6800 series MP2 it changes the entire drawing to a totally different color. any ideas?
Hey I really need help. My problem is when I transfer my digital art from my laptop into my phone, the colour changes and it doesn’t look as good as in the laptop. Can you please help me & tell me what can be done so the colour doesn’t change? I do my work in illustrator
Hi . There’s nothing you can do with this, might be the phone screen has a different gamut... you need to work in the closest to RGB 100% if it’s for web 👍🏼
what about gradients? im looking to buy a really good home printer ( im used to going to a printing press for digital printing ) but is there something at home that can match that quality or close when it comes to gradients please? on the home printer i have it looks like it switches colours, too obvious, bad quality.. but can this method work please? thank you
Hi 👋 to be honest I never encountered that issue, I would try to print on higher resolution, maybe its setting the print as “draft” or low quality to save ink.. But hard to tell 🤔
What was your canvas size on procreate before you downloaded it into photoshop? I am trying to figure out how I should size on procreate according to what size to print.
Hi Tou, to be honest in my case no, I want to have control of the quality, and I enjoy the process. Also unless you are doing quantities and having a stock, I believe it's not worth it. Again, at least for me. :)
Yay thanks for making this video Asia!! I was wondering, how do you go about issues in losing vibrance when converting from rgb to cmyk? I find that the really bright neon-like colours become very dull after conversion 😣
Hi! I have some questions O:) How long have you been printing with this printer? And how many prints you print in one month ? I´m asking because I would love to buy this printer but I've heard that when you print cca 100 prints a month with this printer, the printer burns out. Many thanks ! :)

Hi Asia, thank you for your video. I was going to ask, which Ipad and pen do you use, I'm struggling to find the right tablet that is powerful enough for Photoshop and illustrator? Thank you in advance.
Any high-end Wacom one will work
newer iPad, and 1st or 2nd GEN Apple Pencil will do.
What is the name of this software you are using?
Nice Job!
Thanks
This is really helpful. One question.. what generation is your ipad? I have a 2nd generation and am trying find if it is compatible. Thank you.
Hi 👋 mine is third generation :)
Wonderful video! Do you also know how to print on t-shirts and what printing methods are necessary?
I don't know much about printing but I do digital art, mostly portraits and character designs, which color profile is suitable for that? Because I want to print my artworks and sell them ^_^
In my opinion CMYK is the standard for printing 👍 hope it helps
@@AsiaOrlando oh thank you so much!
Thank you! What size do you recommend doing your borders around an a4 print? please? I can't seem to get them even when they print :|
Hi Elvira, I print all of mine borderless, but normally I would say half a centimeter and ~0.15 bleed. hope it helps
Amazing video! Just wondering how do you print without a border?
You just have to select the borderless option in printer settings
@@AsiaOrlando thank you so much! ☺️
Hi Asia! Thanks for this video. It relieves me to see that because the Canon PIXMA iX6850 is much more affordable than e.g. the Canon PIXMA Pro. I was looking for an artist making a video about a “cheaper” printer, to see if it would be worth it. I might consider it then! :)
Thanks Anne! Really glad that it helped :)
I have the same printer, but now, isn't work well. When is finishing, something start happening. Starts making noise and chews the end of the paper.
If I want to print my art,I can only draw it in rgb first and change to cmyk?, Is it ok if I draw it in cmyk first
Hi 👋 you can convert after. The colors might be a tiny different, depending your palette. But it all comes down to experimentation 🌿
Hai, I recently bumped into ur account and I must say, it's awesome......
Btw can we print directly from procreate or is Photoshop a must?
You can print directly from the iPad sure, it all comes down to your needs 👍🏼
Do you use dye ink for printing?
I use cannon original inkjet 👍🏼
Hi! So glad I found your video, I have the same printer. When I print from Illustrator I am getting faint horizontal streaks on my colors. My ink levels are not low. Would this be a problem with my printer or illustrator file/settings. I'm new to this, so I apologize if it is a simple solution.
Hi Lorna to be honest I have no idea .. try to print from another program like Photoshop and see what happens 🤔
do you know how to scalate ypu brushes in procreate because they have a much nice result in small canvases rather than big canvases like (70x50 cm)
Very cool!
How do you use photo shop on an iPad to print, I don’t have a computer? Thanks
thank you for the video. What do you use to cut your prints down into smaller sizes from A3+? thank you
Just a simple paper guillotine
Lovely 🌸
Hey Asia! Love the videos you've been making. I also really adore the jewelry you make. I was wondering if the jewelry comes in compostable packaging while shipping?
Thank you so much :) the earrings are packed in a cardboard box withing a paper padded envelope :)
I just want to know how do I print some digital art that would be sent to me. I’m not really familiar with Artwork at all
Thank you for sharing your process!!
Does 300DPI works good for large pints?
This one prints up to A3+ and works fantastic
Thank you, Asia , It is a very useful video. I am a big fan of your art :) I have a small doubt regarding the color profile. Can we choose CMYK color profile from procreate instead of using photoshop.. Thanks Again . ❤️ Sujata
Hi 👋 totally :) I mentioned in the video that you can use CMYK directly form Procreate 🤗
Asia Orlando pls answer me🙏🙏
I want to print my illustration into an A5 size. So i change the canvas into A5 size. But the problem is, why my lines became pixelated? How to fix it?
Mam can you pls tell me how to print on pvc card
No idea I would go to a print house
If I draw on A3 will it look good if printed on A4 or A6? Do you recommend always drawing on A3?
It's completely up to you and depends on your artwork. I would just test it and see if you are happy with it :)
I used can a sheet , aand my prints came out dull , what should i do
Hello! Thank you for this fab video. Just wondering about working on an A3 canvas on procreate, does it not limit the number of layers significantly? I think I only have like 4…. If you then print in A4/A5 do you lose quality scaling down or is that just when you scale up ? Thank you 😊 xx
Hi, when I use A3 sizes and at 300 DPi I think I gave 34 layers. This is with my 4th gen iPad Pro 1TB
@@AsiaOrlando ah that makes sense thank you! I think mine only has four layers for A3. :S
It depends on your iPad configuration actually and this is something you can’t fix,you just have to manage. Either you can do 1 artwork in different files, export ,then combine them one by one or you can just go for merged layers
hello! how did you (resize) to print 4 images into one paper?!
Hi you don’t have to resize, just use photoshop to create the canvas that match your paper then set up a printing layout 🌳
Hi 👋, it dependes in what you want. You can select borderless printing or include some. It’s personal preference 🌳
@@AsiaOrlando Thank you for the reply :)
hi i create a drawing in photoshop and when trying to print in the photoshop setting> ix6800 series MP2 it changes the entire drawing to a totally different color. any ideas?
Might be the color profile on the printer 🖨 worth diving into the settings and official page 👍
Thank you ☆
Thanks yo you :)
Does this work straight from my phone as well?
How can I print my work on canvas?
For that work with a print house 👍
what about gradients? im looking to buy a really good home printer ( im used to going to a printing press for digital printing ) but is there something at home that can match that quality or close when it comes to gradients please? on the home printer i have it looks like it switches colours, too obvious, bad quality.. but can this method work please? thank you
Hi 👋 to be honest I never encountered that issue, I would try to print on higher resolution, maybe its setting the print as “draft” or low quality to save ink.. But hard to tell 🤔
Does it work for t-shirt print?
No, for that you need a special one 👍
What was your canvas size on procreate before you downloaded it into photoshop? I am trying to figure out how I should size on procreate according to what size to print.
Wouldn’t it be cheaper by using third party printers (websites or local shops)?!
Hi Julz thank you so much :) when I have to work with a specific set of colors I will use CMYK straight from Procreate :) :)
How do you make the templates?
How many of those can you print with that printer without running out of colors? Wanted know to estimate the procing of my art work. Thanks
It completely depends on what you'e printing.
Hi! I have some questions O:)
How long have you been printing with this printer? And how many prints you print in one month ? I´m asking because I would love to buy this printer but I've heard that when you print cca 100 prints a month with this printer, the printer burns out. Many thanks ! :)
Have it for almost 3 years now and still kicking :) as everything I took good care of it :) hope it helps
@@AsiaOrlando Great! it helped me a lot thank you!
:)
