A really excellent alternate version of this is Roger Daltrey performing it with the Chieftains. And I'm biased because that's the version I heard first, but I think the fiddle/bodhran/uilleann pipes, etc. play better into the emotional component of the song. But it's also just interesting hearing how that instrumentation handles the electric guitar part.
Love, love this band and their one of a kind iconic sound. Rodger is still touring at 80 years young!! He stopped in San Diego in May, still giving up that magical voice. Superb choice Uschi!! Hap-yes this song would translate to a crowd sing along!! Great reaction once again!! Long live The Who! 🎶🥳
I saw them about 5 years after this performance. By that time Keith wasn't around anymore. I'm sad I didn't get to see The Who with Moon on drums, but am grateful for the videos of him in action!
That's exactly why I love this song, because it's so different and thought-provoking. It describes a personal issue of Pete Townsend who addresses his own feeling of fear. Because everyone has expectations of him and the pressure is great, but nobody knows the real man behind. Of course I can imagine people singing along to this song and I knew you would notice that insane bass too. I’ve read that"Ox" is the nickname of bassist John Enstwistle because of his strong constitution and his apparent ability to "eat, drink or do more than the others." Btw. this song has been covered by many groups like Tokio Hotel, Sheryl Crow and the most famous cover is by Limp Bizkit in 2003. Great reaction HAP, thanks🥰🙋🏻♀
I'm not shy. I was 17 and been dating my husband for a year in 1977. Use to think Rodger Daltrey (lead singer) was hot. Wasn't a huge WHO fan but was a fan of some of their songs. And yes I was singing along to this one. No clue who the Ox is??? And yes! The WHO for sure had a reputation!
I've just realized that I actually know the cover of this song (can't remember by which other artist though). Wow, so the original was done by "The Who"!? Should have known that most great stuff are coming from the "relic" iconic bands, 👍
The "Ox" is John Entwistle, the bassist.... I think he was also called something like "Big Johnny Twinkle" or "Johnny Big Twinkle" or something along that line - can't remember which..
Jump in....but enjoy the ride 😂❤😂🎉😢😮😮😅😊😊oh man😅😮😢🎉😂❤😊😊😅😮😮😢

I saw the Who in 68 when I was 15.

💯A lot of other artists were inspired by them. The most famous cover is done by Limp Bizkit in 2003 ☺️👍.
