I always thought it was strange that the FS won’t approve a new single track but then turn around and let logging companies come in and lay waste to miles and miles of forest. Happens in CO all the time.
Agree Kyle... we are all EXTREMELY dissatisfied with the USFS, its' trail closures, and its' refusal to allow new trails, or maintain simple facilities such as signage and trailheads. The USFS even refuses to allow new trails that are much more carefully planned to prevent erosion and reduce trail congestion near urban areas. Despite seemingly no resources to maintain or properly administrate anything, the USFS finds plenty of resources to levy fines and harass users of public lands. Disgusting and needs to be fixed.
Same deal in oz! We aren’t allowed in the areas we ride but Mining and FS can drive straight through the trees, then open a huge pit, make roads and create waste.. I live for the singles and I’m taking my piece of the pie, fk em💪
I was riding that area and noticed the same thing! I was pissed because I thought it was side by sides blowing out the singletrack. I came upon the work they were doing at the spring and was less pissed. It will grow back in quick enough if they stop using it, hopefully! That trail makes for a nice loop if you hit the forest road to the east and go north to the next water trail!
About 16 years ago the DNR had a meeting with the locals in Northwest Minnesota home of polaris industries and arctic cat the peeps from Minneapolis voted to ban atvs, dirtbikes from riding on state land. 3 DNR officers and a few thousand pissed off locals showed up. Representing the both communities in the area. The locals told the DNR if they ban atvs on state land the counties up here are going to ban the DNR from driving on all county roads and we would like to see you get to your state land......atvs trails are still open here...
I've seen our local riding club advocate and create new trails on BLM land, specifically OHV designated area (open to all public use recreation too) I have not seen any new 2ft or 4ft trails on National forest, even after wildfires.
I have have a Husqvarna Fe350 2016 with 600 hours (yes really 600) with 0 engine rebuilds. Only thing i replaced in the engine was a spark plug and the clutch. It runs like a dream. When i go on rides i open her up full throttle every ride for 5 minutes when the engine is hot but that is it. Every one of my friends are screaming that i should do an engine rebuild. An i am just wondering what do you guys think? Am i a big idiot or that i am very lucky that i have no problems.
Kyle I’ve not seen much content about this, could you give us you thoughts on the differences between the 2024 Yamaha YZ X models both 125 and 250 and 2024 Beta 2 stroke models. What are your thoughts on woods beginner friendly models for mid 40’s adults. The dealership in which I work for has recently became an authorized beta dealer.
In my state, we have tried since the 70’s to get the NFS to open some dirt bike/ATV trails but they won’t even consider it but they will allow clear cutting. Trails already exist in the form of old logging roads so there wouldn’t be any actual trail building. I’ve been saying for 40 years that the NFS protects the forest from the public instead of for them.
Yeah I’ve been wanting to ride a spot in a nearby FS property which is the ONLY single track at its price point that isn’t an off road park in the area and one of 2 FS trails in the state. but it’s been closed literally since the 4th of July for logging. Pretty much half the riding season. Really dumb
So I need a dual sport bike. I don't own a truck and be damned if I buy one to haul another vehicle in. KTM exc-f 350 is the dream for me but circumstances say not now. Found a Yamaha XT225 2007 4,500 miles under 3K. What do any of you think. Im 56 grew up riding enduro style on an old Kawasaki G4TR hardly a great bike for what I did with it. Kawasaki never intended it to do what I did. Anyway haven't been on an off-road bike since maybe age 18, I'm skinny at around 6'1" and 145lbs. Thoughts? My budget is smallish and I blew up my credit last year during a major bi-polar manic episode
The Forest Service might have identified range animals impacting a natural spring or wetlands area. To promote sustainable rangeland management, they would build a barrier to keep cattle out of sensitive areas. Regardless, I’m sure they had a reason. Building new trails it’s incredibly difficult and a rare occurrence on federal land. It requires a ton of resources from NEPA just to get approval. Not to mention the physical labor. Don’t get me wrong, volunteers are good for that kind of work. However, in the eyes of our leaders, recreation just isn’t profitable and many National Forest struggle to keep up with demand. People don’t realize the hiring shortages and lack of funding that plagues the FS and simply stalls production. And it’s going to get worse, the Forest Service on a national scale is no longer hiring seasonal workers. Protect your public lands and maintain the trails you already have.
To Ian's point about, the Ranger District for this Forest would have normally been required to complete a public process under NEPA to legally implement rangeland improvements and the ground disturbance (new non-public road). Look under the Forest's Projects area of their web site for clues. Learn about the process, sign up for FS notices, so you won't be surprised in the future by FS activities.
Kyle, load Avenza on your phone, get the MVUM official map loaded for the area and track your ride on it. Then you'll know if this or any other road or trail is legit under the Forest's Travel Management Plan. Don't get yourself in a bind riding off the TMP routes.
Camera angle and mic sound perfect bud 🤙🏻
Don't forget, USFS is a division of the DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE.
I always thought it was strange that the FS won’t approve a new single track but then turn around and let logging companies come in and lay waste to miles and miles of forest. Happens in CO all the time.
Same in AZ
It’s hard to log without a road. The road is paid for by the logging company. It provides access to fight forest fire.
@@metrobadgeryou don't get it.
@@gormanthomas8135 yep. It’s silly in flagstaff.
@@garnet4846 Enlighten me.
Maybe it’s gets better over the next four years.
Not at all likely. Mining companies, oil companies will get unprecedented access and we will be the biggest losers then. Guaranteed
@ you may be right but I hope not.
Nice flowing trail to stumble onto, just the right amount of moisture in the ground.

I love the passion. Keep up the great work.
Man, if the forest service used dirt bikes I'd be all over that job. Sound is good and camera angle is on point Keep up the great work Brotherson.
Those singles look amazing especially with some snow on the ground!
Same deal in oz! We aren’t allowed in the areas we ride but Mining and FS can drive straight through the trees, then open a huge pit, make roads and create waste..

Looks like a great place. Sage, scrub oak, aspen and pine all in the same area.

Wish we had single track Like that here in oregon.

Do you run into hunters this time of year when biking? And if you do, do they ever confront you?
I’ve found d that filming w/o wide angle and among the camera up a bit nets really good results.
Isn’t bulldozing in a line typically to create a fire break if there is risk of fires nearby? Let us know why they did that. Fences is doubtful.
Don’t blame you. Man !

Best channel ever

What trail maps do you use to know if it’s legal to ride on any given trail?
Where is at? It’s my kind of trail, nice and flowing without many technical spots

Go through plugs much?

Looks like sxs tracks with m/t style tires
The Goverment has always had two set of rules/laws! One for them and one for us.😡😡😡
Looks like that trail would be better going up then down and would be on the ⛽️ gas
Since I can't seem to win any giveaway and can't afford a KTM. .... I bought a GPX 300 2-stroke. So far I enjoy it

Yet they have no problem building mountain bike trails.

3rd!
you found it "by mistake"!! not "on accident".
