@@DirtWiseRidingSchoolWattsy , you inspired me late 80/early 90 & beyond till now.. still going. Glad to see you are also, I’ve ridden with you back in the day Enduro events , club meetings etc. I was part of CCDR club for many years, still riding with a lot of old members.👌. I enjoy ya Ytube stuff 👍. Keep it going mate.
Glad to see you back on the tube man! Been a while. Used to watch you at the GNCC races as a boy. Now my son is racing. Getting him into your videos. Mike Wilshaw has us dialed. And your videos are a big help to get him learning techniques! Keep it up
Stoked that you're getting your son into riding - good stuff, keep up the good work....., although you might need to drop Wilshaw from your program though, ha, ha!!!
I recently started riding a two stroke and found out that it wants to slide a lot more than my previous 250F. These tips are useful as I'm having trouble tucking the front. Thanks Shane !
What a nice surprise seeing you on TH-cam. I have one of your dvds from almost 20 years ago (I think). I showed it to my 15 year old son the other day.
Right, really comes down to riding within your ability, also if you’ve never ridden this road before don’t just blast it as fast as you can slow it down! No need to ride at the outside edge of your ability all the time in particular if it’s unfamiliar. A couple local roads I ride I know the hazards there are large rocks in some of the corners.
@@DirtWiseRidingSchool On these roads I can now ride them pretty fast, because I know to slow down where they turn into trials riding 😂 someone not expecting it though man they can be a trip to the hospital.
Cheers mate! Yeah, Stoney is AWESOME, definitely need to get back there for some roosting and to catch up with old mate Jerry stark and the Cregg brothers sometime soon!!!!
Watch flat trackers racing. That counter steering skill is something to master for all two wheel racing applications regardless of the surface they race on.
Shane, give that bike some new grips and lever! 😂 nice video mate, something everyone struggles with on our pea-gravel roads here in NZ, intimidating at times on blind corners.
I like how your bike looks ridden and not a pristine show bike. Hey I know you have a late 2025 schedule coming but do you think Ohio might be on there? If not I see Indiana will be and that is close too. Cheers!
Yeah mate, I seem to like my bikes being a little haggard, just like my wom......, ummm, I won't bother finishing that comment, ha!! Yes, will definitely try for a school in Ohio, if not there will for sure be one in Indiana, and one near Kittaning, PA.
Nah mate, we's good, already got new ones in the shed just can t be bothered to put them on especially seeing as these shagged ones are still getting the job done at the moment!!!
For the sharper turns, yes it is generally better to sit for them. On more technical and rough trails you'll need to stand probably 96% of the time, whereas out cruising the gravel road it will be the opposite - all depends on the trail that you are riding as to how much you sit or stand!!
@@DirtWiseRidingSchoolI'm sure your explanation here is going to better than mine, but here's what I'm expecting you're going to say on this. Generally speaking, we stand up primarily for two reasons: first, to allow our body to become part of the suspension more effectively, and two, to allow the bike to move underneath us more freely. Both of those happen more easily when you're on the balls of your feet. But we don't really need either of those capabilities when we're cornering like this. Instead, when turning like this we get more pressure on the pegs when we're on our arches, allowing the inside lean to happen more effectively when initiating the turn, and getting more weight on the outside of the bike during the turn. So we need to be on the balls of our feet most of the time, but on the arches when cornering through flat, loose terrain. Something like that?
Nah, not at all on what I'll say - basically balls of the feet positioning just isn't all that applicable to offroad, especially for beginner through high intermediate skill level riders!!! Go ahead and try to find a vid clip of Jarvis ever being on the balls of his feet, and pretty the same can be said for Josep Garcia, the 2024 World Enduro Overall Champion and fastest rider in the Enduro scene right now!!
@@DirtWiseRidingSchool No kidding? Interesting. I thought I had extracted every ounce of learning I could from watching a thousand hours of Jarvis videos, but I have to admit I never noticed his feet. Thanks again for all this great content.
You are the best of the best enduro riders as i remember from 1995.keep riding and teaching.
Thanks for the kind words mate....., but nah, there are quite a few other riders just as good if not better than me!!!!

@ O yeah 👌
One of these days I'll get back up there for some action!!

countersteering! I never tought that it has such an impact on the front wheel traction! awesome vid!
It has a huge effect on your safety and trail speed when it is implemented for these trail situations!!
Good to see your back. My sons and I did a couple of your classes in California back around 2012-2013.
Cheers mate, those were fun times, keep on roosting!!
The man on the ktm200. You’re an Aussie legend Shane 👍🏻🇦🇺
Nah mate, nothing too special here...., but thanks for the kind words anyways!! Give it heaps, and keep on roosting!!!

Glad it helps mate, keep practicing and you’ll get it!
They really hit you boys hard with the geoengineering. Same thing here.
Great technical video, mate. Good on ya.
Nothing like getting a little technical mate, it feeds the soul!!!
@@DirtWiseRidingSchool he is talking about the "chem trails" nonsense.. disregard this ogre
Roger that, ha!!!
Yep look at all those chem trails, we love spraying in Utah, 😂
Make it rain baby, ha!!!
Thanks Shane dispelled quite a few myths and showed clearly how its done.
A seating powerslide video would be good as well

Thanks for the kind words!

Bloody oath with that one mate!!
Hey I did an interesting ride last summer BlackBear Pass to Telluride on my XR650 it’s a pretty crazy one.
I've seen that trail, never done it myself, definitely want to get there soon - stoked you went and smashed it!!
Great to see you back on vids mate! Hope to see you at Stoneylonesome MC soon, you are always welcome at the club

Yep, the grips and levers are definitely due for a change, ha!!!

Looks like a super moto tire on the back. Definitely gettin your money out of those things.

This is the technique casey stoner used on phillip island turn 3 not to lose the front at 265 kmh...
Indeed, and he is so bloody good at doing this on command when he needs to!!!
The Legend! Why does Shane Watts even have tires that look like that?! 😄
Because he can't be bothered putting better tyres on......, ha!!
Dang, I wish this came out a week ago. I might have not broke my hand 😂
Hate to hear that for you mate! Hope you heal up quick and get back after it!!!
Thanks! I'll be back at it here in a handful of weeks
Spot on, I like it!!!
The original gas gas are harder to lose the front end not sure why.. early 2000's ktm are not as forgiving
A same difference in frame geometry, and resulting rake and trail, can have a huge difference with this.
Is that Dell?
Affirmative.
KTM 150 best enduro bike out there.
Agreed! It's a blast to ride.
The best way is to avoid standing too much in corners. It isnt stable. Stand for obstacles, sit the other 96% of the time.
For the sharper turns, yes it is generally better to sit for them.
On more technical and rough trails you'll need to stand probably 96% of the time, whereas out cruising the gravel road it will be the opposite - all depends on the trail that you are riding as to how much you sit or stand!!
Not a side job on that front
....nor is there a side "knob" on there either, ha!!!
Give it heaps mate, keep on roosting!!!
How to stop front wheel wash out ?
I fixed that by getting rid of my ktm . lol
Buy something with any suspension other than wp
Spot on, stoked you're still out there roosting it up!!!
Standing on the balls of the feet is wrong? 🤔
Correct for the majority of time on the trail - future videos coming soon to fully explain and rationalize this fact, stay tuned!!!
