So happy to see 3D is possible. I have a corner lot and L shaped house and elevation changes. After using Blender for years I’ve found the best way to position items in a 3D space is by using orthogonal views top, left, front, etc. Hopefully xlight has keys you can use to easily switch between the views

It sure does. You can create views and use them at the model and group level when sequencing.

Love the video. Here’s a trick I learned from my 3D CAD days designing solar powered cars at Auburn U.: but a separate numeric keypad, place it on the left side of the keyboard, have the model properties pane open and the size/location section expanded, type in the X-Y-Z coordinates to get the mode in the rough location. (You’ll figure out the X-Y-Z location of the front of house if you look at the house’s 3-d object sizing. I write this on a sticky in front of my keyboard.) Then use the Size/Location numbers to get your models in the right locations.
    Again, great video Ron! 🎉

Cool. I thought about getting the Space Mouse, but one rarely spends enough time working in xLights 3D to justify the cost.

@@xTremeSequences I have one. Can confirm it doesn’t really add value in xLights. Blender, though…

Well done. Corner lot and we are planning our 2023 and uploading props before purchasing.

In your, "Why I Love 3D Today" video (Jan 11, 2020), you say towards the end of your video that you will explore camera views; did you ever make a video on camera views or did you just scrap the whole idea of camera views all together because of the comment you make here, about camera angles screwing up whole house effects?

I did not make a video on camera views. Because I sell sequences this is not a good idea for me because people that buy these sequences would need to establish views and that is not realistic. I use camera views all the time for commercial events when using 3D layouts. Perhaps I will make a video on this topic this year. No promises. It's a very busy year; especially having a new mini - Southwest Holiday Lighting Experience Mini in Ontario, California on August 3, 2024.

Yes, unless something has changed I don't know about.
