3D Xlights Model via DroneDeploy

- In this video I use DroneDeploy with my neighbor's DJI Mavic Pro to get the 3D model of my house in a .obj file. Use Blender (free) to clean it up (easy), then import it into Xlights. Big thanks to my neighbor for the Drone support.
Hold control key when resizing models and all the dimensions size at once. Also you can manually type in coordinates and rotations ... so much easier when working with your house than trying to use the mouse. Great video John.
That's impressive. In recent years I've been working with aerial LIDAR and imagery processing. Be aware that 3857 is kinda-sorta-meters, depending on the latitude. Sorting out super-precise geo-referencing might not matter for lighting purposes. (Google for EPSG:3857) X ought to be East, and Y ought to be North, Z is up. Does that correspond to Blender and Xlights co-ordinate system?
Yeah, trees are a challenge. With LIDAR point cloud there is sense of the density and structure, but inferring surfaces is reasonably hard, especially if the points are sparse. For the buildings I think detecting the dominant planes of walls and roof faces would go a long way, depending if all the details (awnings, etc) were important or not.

Drone Deploy pricing starts at $83 a month. Am I missing something? That's pretty pricey for map of my house (since I already own the drone...)
I'll just stick to my regular Xlights.

None. Xlights software is free. Search google for xlights download.
